Hi there
I have succesfully installed some different romes, and i did the preformed Hard SPL.
but then i downloaded jackos s2 rom, witch contained a folder named Recommended tool (task29). I thourght, if it's recommended, why not. But after the successful installation. it tried to reboot, but it does not go further than the first htc intro / loading screen.
I have read other similair problems, where thay, press the volume button and power, and then enter bootloader, but i doesnt seem to work with me, also. thay do it while the phone is off... as soon as i put the battery in, it starts.
But i am able to do a hard reset, with power button+call+hangup+reset. But it leads to no good.
Can i buy an SD card, and do some magic there, without needing to pull down bootloader, or is it bricket?
hope you can help
I accually just tried entering the bootloade, by holding the buttons down while inserting the battery, that worked, i guess i can find my way from here.
In the Task29 instructions (the thread is pinned to the top of the ROM Development forum) it says:
When phone boots to "Touch Pro 2" screen (or whatever your splash screen happens to be), I hold down the volume down button while hitting the reset button
Where it says "reset button" I think he means the soft reset button (that you press with the stylus) under the battery cover, not the power button (which to me is not a "reset button" - but its a matter of semantics and I can see the confusion). The combination of volume down and power button (on top of phone) only works when the phone is off, which of course does not apply in this case. Holding down the Volume Down button while hitting the soft reset works, and this is what I have done for the past upteenth ROM flashes. Although I think the first time I flashed a custom ROM, I got confused and pulled the battery like you did. Pulling the battery works. But the soft reset button does the same thing, and according to some, is safer.

Ok so lets start from the beginning. I dropped my phone and although no visible physical damage is visible my volume up button stopped working. When i used to turn on my phone the volume display wouldnt quit showing unless i pressed the volume down button, but volume up would not respond (im guessing vol up is constantly pressed)
I decided to flash my phone, but i also decided to perform Task29 (format internal storage) (From Here)because i have been flashing quite a bit. While doing this i completely forgot that my vol up button isnt working... so i was stuck on the first boot screen, with no internal memory, and since my vol up button is broken no way to get into the bootloader.
I decided to turn it off and leave my phone of the charger and go to sleep (because thats just what i do at night)
In the morning my phone would not turn on at all
Any ideas? I cant send it for repair to T-Mo because its HardSPL and i cant really return it to stock if it wouldnt turn on :/
Edit: Ok i think the non powering issue is battery, the main concern however is, how to enter bootloader without the use of the volume buttons... or flash a rom in any way so that the phone is actually usable.
Thanks in advance
Ok somehow on the millionth's time of trying to get into the bootloader (holding the vol down button) it finally worked =]
Hello folks,
I installed the following rom today. Knowing that its a developer rom I realy wanted to try it out. And its working like a charm, but...
now i got 1 problem.
I cant get into the boot menu anymore.
Normally I had to press (power + volume down) to get into the boot menu. Its not responding anymore when i press those buttons.
But the power button also reacts completely different now.
Before I had to press the power button shortly to start the operating system. Now i have to hold it for a little while (which is of course very good, prevents from accidentally starting your device when its for example in ur pocket).

Any ideas how i can still get into the boot menu?
I got s-off and hboot data++
Thanks in advance.
Hi
Try Backbutton and Power or pull the battery and test it again whit power + vol down.
Pulling the battery out seemed to do the trick. Any idea how come? Do i have to pull out the battery everytime i want to go in boot modus now (as some sort of protection) or was the system just stuck?
Anyway thanks a lot!
Edit: Yes it seems that i have to pull out the battery everytime now. But the operating system seems to be starting a looooot faster.
i have the same Problem whit my Device- If i make it S-off i come never in my Recovery- Only whit (Phone On) Powerbutton > Reboot > Recovery - or - Pull Battery
So you can't reach bootloader from phone off by using the volume down and power buttons pressed together and held for a few seconds - without pulling the battery first?
That's odd.
I think this standard entry to bootloader should remain the same regardless if any rom you flash, as flashing roms doesn't touch the bootloader at all.
Sounds like it might be fastboot doing this - Settings, Applications, Fastboot tickbox.
If checked, I see the same behavior as what you've described here.
If I take the tick out of the box, booting takes longer, but I can get into recovery/bootloader every time.
So my girlfriend installed a wallpaper app (not sure which) on her Vodafone branded Arc, ever since then the phone freezes at the lock screen after booting. The unlock controls don't work and nothing else seems to either. If the screen times out or power button is pressed, screen goes off but won't come on again.
Would be happy to reset the phone but nothing works for hard reset (tried side buttons plus power and volume down or up and power) and we cannot get to the menus to do a soft reset.
Have also tried the SE PC companion software to update the phone but this requires you to change some things in the phone's menu after connecting too- which we can't...
Help!
Use Update Service form SE.
Power off
Then plug your usb while pressing Back Button.
It will works.
or
Use Flash tool.
So I was flashing ICS and thought I had a bootloop with the XPERIA logo displayed when I pressed the power & VOL down to hard reset the screen blinked & a viberate then the phone entered SAFE MODE. I did a search and found info for other phones (even my old X10 had it and I didnt know) but no info on the ion.
EDIT: I just finished the setup in safe mode and then rebooted. Everything was fine after reboot.
EDIT2: I was pressing wrong buttons
During boot power&vol down gets safe mode. Power& vol up is hard reset.
All I have found out is, Safe mode only loads system apps. No user apps are loaded
To enter safe mode press and hold power & volume down buttons during boot.

Almost all Android devices have a safe mode. It's just a matter of how to access it. Well...Stock OS anyways. Not 100% sure on Custom roms. On my old HTC Inspire, you accessed it by holding the back button until full boot was complete. Then upon unlocking the screen, it said "safe mode" down in the bottom right corner.
Have you found and used the Hidden Menu function of the LG G3? Opened up Device Test, but stuck in MiniOS with a blank screen that has a circle with a + in the middle for each part of the screen you touch? Can't get into recovery mode? Got into recovery mode, but don't know how to get it to work?
Well I have done my research, and had my fair share of panicking thinking that I had bricked my phone because none of the advice online matched up perfectly. But if you have made that mistake yourself, here is how to unbrick and reset your phone.
1. Start your phone up by holding onto both the power button and the buttom volume key. When the logo pops up, let go for a second, and hold onto both buttons again. This should bring up the option to reset your phone. Agree to both prompts.
2. You should be on a new screen. It may warn you not to touch the screen because it is calibrating or testing it. You will have to press OK, and then give it a few seconds to do that bit.
3. The screen should have a list of options at this point (some of which say "+power) on them. If you want to use any of these options, you need to hold the power button, and then press that option on the screen. Press "normal boot (+power)" (don't forget to hold the power button at the same time). This should put your phone back to normal, and set it up again just like it came out of the box.
Hope this helps someone.
