I am running Myn warm 2.2 rls 3. I will be going to rls 4 shortly. I have yet to establish a procedure for updating/switching ROMs that works. I have gone from one release of a rom to another and only wiped cache and dalvik. Sometimes this works and other times not. I have had best results wiping data, cache, and dalvik, but then I have to get my phone back up-to-date. I use Titanium Backup (paid) and it restores pretty well. Again best procedure that works consistently for me is to restore only user apps and data, but then I have to resetup homescreen settings, ringtones, speed dial, bluetooth pairings, wifi keys, etc. I have run into problems when restoring system data with TB. Any ideas for a procedure that works consistently?
To go from RLS3 to RLS4 you should only have to wipe dalvik and cache.
To go from one version of CyanogenMod to a newer one, you only need to flash the update.
To go from two completely different ROMs, you have to wipe data and cache. You can restore WiFi, Bluetooth, and Phone settings via TitaniumBackup, in addition to all your apps.
Doing a search on here for five seconds would have gotten you all of these answers.

I have not gone to a newer release of Myn yet. The recommendation is to do a full wipe. I will try cache and dalvik, but in the past with other roms this has caused problems.
Not interested in CM, but thanks for the info.
I have not yet been able to determine what to restore for bluetooth or phone settings that was why I was asking.
BTW, I did search (took me much more than 5 mins) and found nothing helpful to my situation.
When i went from rls3 to rls4 i only wiped the cache and dalvik and i got force closes. I then wiped everything and reflashed and i havent gotten any problems. So the best thing is to wipe all at least for me. I dont really know about the other stuff, i only back up apps

that's called a Force Close (FC). It usually happens with an unstable ROM/unstable app but more often it happens when you don't wipe (Cache/Dalvik) before installing a custom ROM.
Backup any important data that's not already on your sdcard, go back into recovery, wiple your cache and dalvik, and flash the ROM again. see if that helps you

even if im coming from the old fresh to the new fresh i still have to wipe
I'm not familiar with Fresh's ROMs, if you read his threads carefully I'm sure he'll tell you which version upgrades require a wipe and which don't. Usually a drastic upgrade will require a wipe. In your case a wipe will most likely fix these FCs
With the learning curve for the EVO still growing, its usually a good idea to wipe data/cache/dalvik when flashing new roms. Even updates. I haven't seen too many "No Wipe Necessary" around this forum. As long as you've got Titanium or MyBackup, wiping isnt as big of a headache as it used to be. Hope you get things figured out. Screwing with these phones can get frustrating. Dont know how many times I wished I hadnt messed with anything.
well i just wiped and reloaded fresh so hopefully this will fix everything
Hello, first i would like to say i have spent over 10 hours trying to flash a custom ROM on my incredible all of which include searching through endless forums for people with similar issues. current specs are:
hboot: .92
radio: 2.15.00.07.28
clockworkmod: 2.5.1.2
I used unrEVOked 3 to root.
I have tried to flash redemption 2.3, cyanogenmod 6, skyraider 3.5, and the stock incredible 2.2 image which i saw in another thread here. What happens is the roms install fine and boot up. At some point, usually within the first couple minutes they are booted up, the phone restarts and will not boot back into rom. Any help would be appreciated.
Are you doing a complete wipe before installing the rom?
If so try installing the rom from recovery (don't install from Rom Manager), and flash a different kernel. Then reboot and see if the problem still persists.
Are you restoring apps and data? Restoring system data is always a quick way to get weird issues...also, as mentioned above, wipe cache, dalvik, and do factory wipe. As a practice, I've done all three 3 times each, and never run into any such issues. Think of the bathroom...wiping too much might take longer, but not wiping enough will definitely cause issues later

Not sure that 3 times is necessary, but I like the analogy.

LOL love that last bit.

Thanks guys, i already did wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache, and do a factory wipe each time before installing the various ROMS. none of this fixed the issue. i found a back to stock image, and i took it into verizon and they are sending me a refurb. than its back to root again!
I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I tried searching multiple times and couldn't find anything about this. I just recently flashed my phone following the directions from the developer and the only major issue that I know of is the camera flash will not work when taking a picture in low light. I also tried the "flashlight" app and that also won't turn on the light either. Before I try re-flashing the ROM, is there anything I can try before? Thanks for the help...
I can assure you that it is NOT the rom, unless, of course, you have a corrupt download. My camera flashes like it is suppose to and my flashlight turns on and i am currently using the Synergy RC-1 rom. You can try rebooting into recovery, wipe cache & dalvik and then re-flash Synergy atop your current install.

Thanks for your help. I hate to re-flash after configuring the layout the way I like but if that's what it takes then I'll do that.

If you're going to reflash the same Synergy rom then go into recovery, wipe cache & dalvik and then make a nandroid backup of only your data as well as android.secure & sdext partitions. (If you do not have any apps saved on the android.secure [usually paid apps] and/or the sdext partition then disregard including them in the backup). Afterwards, flash the Synergy rom, boot to your homescreen, and then clear all of the default widgets from your homescreens. When you're finished, reboot into recovery, wipe cache & dalvik then restore the backup that you made of your data, android.secure & sdext, if applicable. Whe the restore it complete, boot to your homescreen. You will find them as they were in the previous installation of the rom.
I've been trying for a while to get CM10 to work. Everytime I've had issues with network data. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
It will show 4G or H+ in the status bar, but if I try to search for somewhere in maps, or refresh FaceBook, it doesn't work. WiFi still works fine.
If I restore back to my rooted touchwiz network data works flawlessly, but we don't want touchwiz, do we?
Any ideas why this is happening?
Are you doing a full wipe before flashing? wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache. and wipe divalk cache (advanced menu) before flashing your ROM. If this doesn't work, then try to fix permissions (advanced menu in recovery) I personally run CM10, and have no data issues. Also are you running a custom kernel?

If your IMEI number shows up then you're good to go. Just follow through with a clean wipe before installing any roms.
But if your IMEI number shows up as 0 or nothing comes up then you may need to inject it back into your system. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997

I haven't been doing wipe dalvik cache. I guess I should try that.
So this time I cleared user data, clear cache, cleared dalvik cache.
Then I installed CM10 stable, and google apps for CM 10.0 from goo.im
Then I will reboot, install nova, change all my settings once again, install all my apps, and hope data doesn't quit by tomorrow.

If you need data consistently my suggestion would be to flash Task's AOKP. Data works flawlessly on his build. CM10 for me still has data issues as well.

It's still showing 4G in the status bar, and I'm able to look up sites with chrome, but none of my apps are getting data (FaceBook, Twitter, Maps).
This is really weird.

IMEI shows up, but some apps are still unable to access the internet when on network data.
I would really love it if this would just work.
I have network data, it shows 4G and full signal in the status bar, I can look things up with Chrome, but FaceBook, Twitter, and Maps all have connection errors when on network data, and work fine on wifi.
Anyone have a fix?
I may have fixed it. Under access point names, there are two options: Bell (pda.bell.ca) and Bell Flex (inet.bell.ca)
By default it's set to Bell, and I switched to Bell Flex. Now I'm getting LTE and my other apps are working.
Hopefully it continues to work.
I have installed the Paranoid Android ROM on my S III, but I am running into problems:
- System UI stops working on reboot / wallpaper resets
- When I open the recent app switcher it shows what was open previously for brief second
Is their anyway to fix these bugs?
Thank You very much for taking the time to read and respond to me.
Did you come from a full wipe? Wipe data, cache, dalvik, system.

i wiped data, cache, dalvik, was unaware I had to format the system. Going to reflash my phone following your guide, cant believe I never saw it before.
the best way to transition from one ROM to another is to perform a full wipe. when flashing an update to the same ROM, just the cache, dalvik and wipe data options are recommended. cheers

Thank you very much. I just had another question about using Titanium Backup, wanted to know if i could backup applications like email which are system apps as far as i know.
Cheers.
Edit: The recent app animation lagg still hasn't gone any thing that could be done?
Restoring system apps is generally not a good idea. You might try just the email data and see how things function. Maybe someone with more TiBu experience can chime in.
As far as rom and battery performance, give it all a day or so to settle in. also, remember PA is a ported ROM. its not always this way but i have had buggy experiences with ports.
