Hi People,
If you go here: Google "javafx for windows mobile download" you can DL the JavaFX update from SUN, which I did. It installed fine. (Sorry, my account is apparently too new to post the link).
It also comes with a few demo apps to try. But when I try to run it, I get an error:
"Calculated only a partial product UUID!This can cause problems with the correct device identification."
I called T-mobile and explained this, and that I had just updated the Dash to the latest T=Mobile/Windows CE OS version 5.2.1236, build 17741.0.2.1.
Of course they said they can't support any 2rd party apps. They also questioned whether the Dash was "too old" to run JavaFX. I have a hard time believing that last part. It runs plain old Java just fine.
I am hoping someone could try the DL I mention above and post the results, with the goal of getting JavaFX working on my/other peoples Dash.
As a footnote,I found this error posted a few other places with no answer.

i just downloaded it and it does work. my thoughts are that you probably need to upgrade your rom. your version 5.2.1236 is a bit dated and my guess is that's why it's not working for you. currently im running 3vo 6.5 and it's working just fine, overclocked to 274. try updating your OS/rom first, it should work after that.
btw there are plenty of forums around here that give good tutorials on updating your OS/rom if you've never done it before. study and up and take the plunge!

one more thing, tmobile isn't very tech savvy when it comes to this sort of thing. they have much info at their fingertips but they have to search to find it and most of them aren't that good at it. they are trained on newer phones but not the older ones. trust me i'd know, i used to work at a tech center. they have a decent database with logs on problems customers have had in the past and solutions, but the rep on the phone isn't always able to find the info. i was one of the better ones but they didnt want to move me to permanent tech even though that's what i was good at, and instead shuffled me to cust service to argue with people about their bills... so i quit
anyway, it's best to come here first and ask rather than ask them. we'll probably save you some time
Thank you Young!
I took the plunge and downloaded and flashed EXCA-3VOLUTION_WM65_3VO.3.00.112509. Along the way I applied the app unlock as instructed. I wonder - would the app unlock alone have been enough?
Well, in any case JavaFX is up and running! Yay! - thanks to you
I had no idea that there were people writing all sorts of new OS etc for these phones - I'm just a phone user.
Now - silly question but - none of these new ROMS allow free wifi or Internet access do they?
hey, what is JavaFx ??? Does it like JBed Java ?
It runs on any device that can run Java. Think of it as a prettier, fancier, high tech looking java. Its actually pretty fun to program as well. And its free (the development environment).
Here are some Google results for your question:
JavaFX is a software platform for creating and delivering rich Internet applications that can run across a wide variety of connected devices. ..
What is JavaFX?
JavaFX is a rich client platform for building cross-device applications and content. Designed to enable easy creation and deployment of rich internet applications (RIAs) with immersive media and content, the JavaFX platform ensures that RIAs look and behave consistently across diverse form factors and devices.
The JavaFX platform release includes the following components:
* JavaFX SDK which includes the JavaFX compiler and runtime tools, graphics, media, web services, and rich text libraries to create RIAs for the desktop, browser and mobile platforms.
* NetBeans IDE for JavaFX which provides a sophisticated integrated development environment for building, previewing, and debugging JavaFX applications. The editor features a drag-and-drop palette to quickly add JavaFX objects with transformations, effects and animation. This IDE also comes with its own set of Building Block samples and the JavaFX Mobile Emulator, a mobile phone simulator.
* JavaFX Production Suite is a suite of tools and plugins that enable designers to export graphical assets to JavaFX applications.

np, glad to be of help. it woulda been nice if my email program let me know i had a reply earlier though
anyway, about the free wifi and internet... no programs can do that, that i know of. there are ways to hack into other peeps networks for free bandwidth from pc's (as i've seen it done), but if you want free internet on the phone there's only a few simple options...
1. pay for it, either through a phone carrier ex: tmobile, at&t, etc. or get a router for your home network and at least then you can connect to your home wifi.
2. find a starbucks, local coffee house, hospital, or any place that is pumpin out free wifi and hop on the network.
anyway, even if there were those types of 'programs' you couldn't post about it here cuz it would get taken off immediately and the person posted would probably get banned. they're not too friendly about that stuff
Hi,
any way to ignore certificate errors on WP7? Installation of the (self-signed) certifiacte in WP7 doesn't work.
(I saved the *.cer on my Laptop, mailed it myself and installed it on WP7)
Any other solution?
Undying
I use a Starcom / StartSSL certificate (they also offer free ones)
I just had to visit www.startssl.com/certs and download ca.cer - worked fine to me...
Ahhh crap, my server doesn't has a certificate. Palm Pre was just like this on release, didn't have the option to ignore. Microsoft will hopefully update it in the future.
This is probably a really stupid question seeing as how we don't even have a file manager yet, but I though thats because wp7 is so cloud based there should be a front-end or something for skydrive, can anyone confirm/find one?
There is no such 'front-end' for Sky Drive files at the moment but I believe it is lined up to be integrated into the Office hub for the next update release in early 2011.
Hey guys
i know its an old thread but its VERY important to me.
I use Skydrive Livesync to sync between my two PC's - work and home. I REALLY wanted to sync this to my WinPho7 much like Mesh used to to my 6.5 as I really don't want to have to fork out for a sharepoint server.
Is this functionality still expected early 2011 (presumably with the same copy/paste patch)?
Any ideas?
Thanks loads!!
If you goto skydrive.live.com in the phones browser it takes you to a mobile version of the site. Can always pin it to your home screen for quick access. You can download and edit files from it too.

I haven't heard anything to the contrary since I posted that.
Sources are still saying the early 2011 update will include SkyDrive integration into the Office hub as well as copy/paste and turn-by-turn navigation.
Or course I could be totally wrong!
might have to cope with that but its not ideal, would much prefer sync'ing. Thanks

Cool - obviously, won't hold this against you if it doesn't happen
with windows live 2011 there's an app called "mesh" (i've been in beta with this for a while now) and I'm using that to sync folder up. I did a mail about the beta ending soon but I can't remember much on it so it must be getting reading for the final launch.
http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mesh?os=other
Hope that helps anyway
Sadly no Jedix, but thanks! Live Mesh is the "old" solution that was in fact a prototype for the new system now employed. I currently use Live Mesh on my HD2 and its THIS functionality I want to now get on my WinPho7 device.
As mentioned above, it appears that Skydrive/office integration is due early 2011. Once it is, I think I am back to the perfect phone
According to WPcentral:
Sounds like an innocent blog that reviews apps right? Well the concerns from the Twitter posts is that not only does the site review apps but it also contains download links for the .xap file that is residing on Microsoft's servers.
Even if you download the .xap file, it's going to take some effort to get it installed to your Windows Phone 7.
You will need the developer tools and device that is unlocked for development. While the developer tools are free, you have to be a registered developer to get an unlocked device. You CAN however download the .xap and rename it as a .zip and look at the structure of the app, though we're 99% sure that the real "code" of the app is compiled/encoded/encrypted.
Not many will be able to do much with this downloadable file. That is unless you're a developer looking to download free apps from other developers. Still, one has to wonder why it's so easy for a third party site to provide download links to Marketplace apps.

They are talking about the website: http://winmobile7.apphab.com/
Kind of a strange site. They are offering free downloads of paid marketplace applications. Unless you are a developer, you can't do anything with it. But it's still strange...
This sounds like a good way to get in a lot of trouble. I would bet Microsoft can see what apps are installed when the phone checks for marketplace app updates even if you side load it as a developer.
And its still live and offering files to download. Shoddy MS security on display, extremely troubling for devs.
Hopefully Microsoft will look into that site and any similar sites.
We cant have developers loosing money because of these people.
I can't see where you download apps - if its real why not post a link on http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsphone7/threads ?
It says it's for free and trial versions. Isn't it pointless to provide download files anyway since you can only install apps via the Marketplace?
****, they have my app on there, not happy
my app does support trial, I'm not seeing anything about xap downloads, hopefully this means the breach has been fixed and not that I'm looking in the wrong place
I don't mind free publicity, but I put many hours into that and don't want it spread around in such a way (free, unauthorized downloads, raw code)
Definitely not cool for developers. One issue is that all the apps are silverlight and are only compiled to MSIL. Pop open the binaries with Reflector and you've basically got the source code. All devs should utilize Dotfuscator to at least help with this.

It looks like the site that had the links (http://winmobile7.apphab.com) took down the link to the XAPs but I bet the issue is still there. It was a pretty simple URL to the Microsoft server. You just had to know the application's GUID and you could download the XAP.
I don't see how this makes them free... you can easily see you need a registered dev device, I doubt it makes the app "free" because there is a fee you must pay.

Microsoft can check your device and see if you have pirated software on it, just like they do for XBox live. They already have the infrastructure in place and if you pirate be prepared to have your phone banned from Marketplace, Zune, XBox Live, etc.

Any decent develper will Obfuscate the code. If they didn't, they were kind of asking for it since it's hot hard to intercept data being downloaded over WiFi, etc. The fact that it can only come from the market was never enough to stop people from getting their hands on the files downloaded from said market.
It's no different than any other platform that uses a VM architecture (Android, WP7, WM 6.x .NET CF, Java ME, etc.).
I found my own app there. I don't however see a download link?
--edit: Nvm, should've read the thread to its end.
What is the URL? To replace with GUID or XAP filename? Could always use archive.org.
i guys!i have a mega pack xap installers with games and apps.
i poste for everyone previous.
sorry bad english...

is a method to decrypt files xap

Hi Guys,
If any of you have been using Skyfire your probably getting an error saying that you are unable to get service. Well it seems they are no longer supporting WinMo now they they have moved to Droid an iPhone. The Skyfire Community is very angry.
See this: http://support.skyfire.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5992
Join the petition to remove the product from marketplace: http://social.answers.microsoft.com...e/thread/9a71aa48-d6d3-49ca-ac6d-c47730289f1d
THIS INCLUDES SYMBION DEVICES.
This is an outrage as I have been helping develop the program since Beta and now I feel betrayed. Very ANGERY!
Well, thank god i swited to Opera Mini.
Skyfire lost my respect just to have iPhone users use it. Now it is time for me to go back to Opera mobile and I would not be buying there app on my iPhones either.
That's only natural don't you think? Not saying it's good though but I understand why it happened (I'm a consistent Apple hater... I have tested but I don't use/own/buy any of Apple's hardware/software/services... I find everything Apple made to be overpriced/overrated/hyped) but:
1- WinMo is a discontinued platform with a very small market share.
2- WinP 7 would require a complete rewrite (has a tiny market share and so far analysts don't foresee a big success...)
3- Skyfire would have to be completely rewritten to work in the new platform (due to the moronic "no native code approach")
4- Skyfire was free...
Plus:
1- A lot of ppl out there with iPhones (and the market share seems ever increasing).
2- Most apps so far seem to work in all versions and no major break seems to be in sight
3- Apple's anti-Flash policy (anti-Adobe tantrum) makes for the perfect market niche for Skyfire.
4- The app is paid.
5- The app was an overnight success.
6- Most likely the success of the app overloaded the enterprise servers so one of the immediate solutions was to cut off the unpopular platforms (the free users)...
They simply expanded to the popular platforms and monetized the app bigtime. Sorry but that's how capitalism works... Or did anyone think they did this out of the goodness of their hearts?
PS: I won't move to uZard. I refuse to use a product from a company that blatantly disrespects the law and doesn't show any respect to the open-source community... Why's that? Because "uZard Media Player" (even the naming shows their lack of respect) is an illegally modified version of TCPMP (illegal because no sources were released even after I requested them by email and because the GPL license agreement isn't distributed with the app).
I've contacted Core on this matter and seriously hope something happens... In the meantime the only supportive measure one can take is to boycott uZard.
