So today my friend with an Iphone4 thought it would be funny to copy the whole script of star wars return of the jedi and text it to me. I got close to 2000 text messages before I downloaded privacy star and blocked him. But the problem is I tried to do this and it's just not possible my text kept force closing and the text wouldn't send. Why can't I do this?
I hate steve jobs!

are you sure he copy and pasted straight from his phone? may be he did it in parts? or he sent from his computer. i think you can go to my tmobile and sent texts from there.
I'm sure I saw his text thread he did it right in front of me and then he did it again to another person. Like that's crazy that someone could do that cuz there's no way of stopping it once its sent

This is what he coppied

I guess cuz its all on one long page it made it easy to coppy the whole thing

That's cool thanks but it says there's a limit of text you can send
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
There IS a limit. What's probably happening is that he's actually sending you MANY text messages. A lot of SMS apps (including the stock one I had on my G1) will reassemble received text messages so that they look like one message, when they were in fact many.
This story made me lol... I hope you get him back haha

Did this come from an App ?
Someone just texted you, either randomly or you gave them your number. Keep in mind many apps can see your phone number, like the Facebook app for example. The Facebook app in some cases actually lets your friends facebook apps, not Android apps but Facebook apps through the Android app, see your number.
Just ignore it. On other carriers I would recommend blocking the number but it really doesn't matter since you have unlimited texting on sprint. You can block numbers easily on sprint and on google voice though, so if it is bothering you just block the number on sprints website or on the google voice site, depending on which you use.

lmao I got one of these a while ago. I got a text bombing app and sent them 1000 texts telling them to f off. havent got another text from them
I just bombed that number for reassurance.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Be sure to add them to your block list as well.
So if I login to sprint I can set call filters?
That Google voice should I set it up?
I thought I didn't need it?
Got a text like this too... Maybe 2 a month. Just found out sprint charged me for one international text. Must be an app causing this. Either way I suggest saving it if you ever receive another, in case sprint wants to charge. Or just bomb the number.
Epic-ly tapped from my Galaxy SII
What's the name of the text bombing app lol?

I don't recommend bombing the internatioal one.. That could be kinda spendy.

Google it my man, found mine within 20 seconds of reading this thread... even came with a QR Barcode, used Google Goggles and didn't even have to mess with the SD card
So every time I send a screencap people always tell me the text is blurry and can't read it. Today I tried sending the same pic but used handcent and the quality was a whole lot better. Anybody knows why the stock messaging compresses mms into such a bad quality? It's not noticeable on pictures of ppl or things just when sending a picture with text on it. Hmm?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Yes. Unfortunately you have to run something like go SMS and change the send size if u want crisp mms.
Or email em

I don't know if this occur to me as well but i can tell you that when i send an MMS it just stays like "on a loop" (Sending it) like FOR HOURS!!! It's insane, & yes, I'm running stock for now just to know how the phone works by himself without any tweaks... (I'm not giving it much time now, I've heard A LOT OF AWESOME THINGS & ROMS in here; so please don't judge me ...)
Is there something that I need to change for this
I guess I can email them about it. Thanks for the reply.

Sounds like you need to call Sprint and have them refresh your data connection. Mine sends them in like 1-3 seconds.

Ok so is there any setting I'm missing that will change a SMS that goes over 140 characters to a MMS so the person I'm texting does not receive multiple text.
My wife and I both have SGIII's and when she sends me a long text it breaks it into several text instead of just one long text.
Is there any way to change this?

exuse me but i can't understand you.
could you be more clear?
When you send or receive a text that is longer than 140 characters it is sent or received in multiple messages instead of just one longer message.
Is there a setting that let's you receive messages longer than 140 characters in one text instead of the message being broken into two or three smaller messages?

Try handcent I think that has an option to do that

I would really like to keep using the stock app if possible. Not a big fan of adding apps if I don't need to.
Here is a screenshot of me sending myself a text. You can see it is received in two parts.

as far as i know, CDMA phones can only go up to 160 characters per text.
so that option in handcent is only for the GSM phones which can send longer texts than 160.
so unfortunately you cant change that. now i do know that there are some roms that after so many messages (like 3 or 4 sms in one) it converts it to an MMS rather than an SMS, i don't know if the stock sms app does it, but i know that the handcent app has an option to disable it to rather then sending 3 or 4 sms as an MMS it sends all 4 SMS's.
but thats my 2 cents worth.
It can definitely be done. Are you running stock or do you have a custom ROM?

I was thinking it could be done because I've had that built into almost every ROM I ever ran on Verizon and their network is also CDMA. I just switched to Sprint a few weeks ago so did not know if it was a Sprint thing.
I'm running FreeSG3-v0.0.9.1, if there was a write up somewhere I can decompile whatever needs to be changed and make the changes myself.
I haven't ran stock since I first rooted my OG Droid...

If you're running an AOSP rom, open up the Messaging app and hit the menu button. Go to settings and scroll all the way to the bottom and you'll see it!
I'm getting a ton of spam text messages sent to my phone. I strictly use Google Voice for messaging and these are being sent to my actual phone number, so without a text message plan I'm being charged for each one of them. Is there a way to stop all of these spam texts?
Call verizon and ask for a text block.

Do not text STOP... they will then know that your number is a legit cell. Just call Verizon, get a credit back for the unwanted texts and get a block.

One of the companies I consult for will take the "Stop" text and add it as a valid mobile number. Your number will then get sold to a marketing company as a premium number. Just ignore it and block.
My bad did not know you were a consultant. Please take Sebastionravens advice

wife's device just started getting crazy amount of sms ads. We both use extreme call blocker and it can block sms as well. Not sure if you get charged for sms since we have the unlimited text plan. Never felt that google voice was stable enough for kids.
Once I reach the character max for the first message I can't go past that! Why! Whyyyyyy!?

It should split when you send mine does. Try a third party sms like gosms or chomp sms.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk
Sprint is CDMA network and has trouble with more than 160 characters. If you're on a custom rom, like AOKP or CM, there generally is an option in sms settings to auto-split.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
I use Sprint's stock messaging app and have no trouble sending messages longer than 160 characters, and they split properly on the other end. Do you get an error message or anything when you hit 160? Mine counts down characters to 0/160 and then continues on with 160/160, 159/160, etc.

^^^ This. I also use stock messaging app and never had any issues. I also use the auto-combination feature and when people send me messages longer than 160 characters it combines them back into one message. It says it only work from Galaxy to Galaxy phones but that's a lie. My sister has the EVO LTE and when she sends me long messages they come in one whole text.

I'm running MC2 4.1.2 stock rooted and have auto-combination checked, but messages still come in split, at least from my son's AT&T iPhone. Is there anything else that should be set to get it working, or is it an iPhone thing?

Maybe it's because she's with a different carrier. Another cool thing is that my sisters EVO is also combining long messages too by default. However you still see the 1/2 - 2/2 on her EVO unlike our Galaxy which does a better job.
Edit: Nope it don't work from ATT iPhones. I just received my cousins text in two..
