Ok, I've searched for about 3 days now and I can't find anything that answers my question.
My G2 is rooted and I'm running CM 6.1 RC2 and I would like to be able to pair AND connect to my Windows 7 laptop via bluetooth for file transfers.
I have the "Bluetooth File Transfer" app installed, but it will not connect to my laptop. It tries, but says that my laptop does not have the OBEX and/or OPP transfer protocol active. I've looked for answers on that and I can't find anything.
The phone does connect to other bluetooth devices without a problem (my car stereo for example). And my laptop connects to other devices without a problem (my mouse for example). There has to be a way to introduce these two crazy cats to each other - I know they will form a happy and fruitful relationship once they meet.
Thanks in advance.

Clear all caches clear bluetooth up/download clear all that out reboot do not connect to anything else before u try ur laptop. You need to make your laptop discoverable in the bt settings its kind of hidden. Do one of two things..... 1. First set up a personal area network between the phone and the laptop. Once that's "paired but not connected" initiate a file transfer of a small file txt or even one picture FROM the laptop to the phone. You need to pay attention to the pairing code and try to simultaneously accept on phone then laptop or laptop then phone until it pairs and initiate the transfer from laptop to phone. The thing is Windows is a beast that likes to protect itself and your phone is quite promiscious so youu have to kind of appease Windows rather than your anything goes phone. I forgot what number two is..
It also depends on UAC settings in Win7.
If that doesn't work... I suggest trying a dedicated app like PDAnet bluetooth tethering because it will find your phone. Just to connect not to tether. (As a test)
But the bottom line is you have history of connecting to other devices so you gotta clear all that memory out on both laptop and phone. Reboot both devices start fresh.
If not then maybe someone has other ideas to help. Nice bump btw.

Bit of strange issue with my Hermes. I've just plugged it in, and now I'm getting error messages that an unknown USB device is connected to Vista. The problem is that it's been working fine for over a week now and then it goes and does this. Does anyone have any idea as to how I could try and fix this?
One thing you can try is to remove the CHECK MARK in START > Settings > Connections > USB to PC and UNCHECK Enable advanced network function.
Got the same error twice now, nothing a restart (PC) didn't fix.
or replace USB cable, or use shorten cable, or conect cable not to front USB, but in to the back connectors, bellow keyboard and mouse connectors -

Wow! You have smooth hands.
Seriously... I have had the same issue and all I had to do was restart Vista. You could also kill the wmdc.exe task and that seemed to work for me as well...
All works now; thanks guys.

This was the winning candidate.
You get this often after a flash. I either plug the USB into another port as it tries to install the drivers again or reset the pc.
I tried that but had no joy. It was a bit strange, but at least I've got it sorted now.
I have heard on some smart phones you could get a bluetooth mouse to pair and function with the phone. Does anyone know if this is possible with the dash?
Not that I heard of. What phone did you hear does this?

Yeah I couldn't find the thread I had read earlier. This was the closest I could find. I read somewhere that someone did get a bluetooth mouse to work with Excalibur. However now I can't find the article. He said the only problem he had was finding a mouse pointer program.
I was experimenting with something similar to his earlier today, although I desired the reverse method of control. I noticed that XP MCE device manager had a HID that was called Bluetooth Remote Control.
After a little search, I discovered a free application called Bluetooth Remote Control for Windows Mobile.
http://www.jaylee.org/remotecontrol/
I installed the application and was quite surprised that I could control my XP MCE laptop's Media Center as well as Windows Media Player with my HTC S620 (modded Dash). The application even utilizes the HTC display to display song information and also there is no line of sight requirement.
What I really wanted was to be able to control the PC's mouse and keyboard with the Smartphone. Not view the PC but just use the phone like a mouse and keyboard. The application has this ability (Screen Control) for PPC's but not completely for Smartphones. I was able to scroll up, down on a web page or application but that was all.
I installed FakeCursor and configured SmartToolKit to launch it from an extended keypress. Now I was able to move the mouse pointer on the laptop, a bit, and enter data via the HTC keypad. However, Fakecursor stopped sending data after it reached the edge of the Dash screen so I could not completely navigate the laptop.
If anyone is looking for a free remote control for audio/video application the application mentioned above would be a good start.
Any tips about the best way to use a Smartphone Standard without touch to control a PC would be welcomed.
I dont know whats been up w/ my tilt 2, but i just received a new phone today (sent the last one in for RMA because i thought it was defective) but this phone is doing the same exact thing. When in initially go to setup my phone (using the NRG ROM) the bluetooth headset connects, but only to Hands Free. But for some reason i cannot get it to connect to Stereo Audio. I've tried it with two of my Sony Headsets and it just wont work. Every time i try it just says "Connection Failed" with Stereo Audio, but Hands-Free connects just fine. I dont think its the headsets, as they connect just fine to my fuze (touch pro) and my original tilt (tytn ii). Does anyone have ANY idea what could be causing this? I really need to get this fixed by this coming Monday
i'm not sure if this is because of the widcomm vs ms bt stack issues that some people have been talking about. but here's a pic of what my phone shows when attempting to connect

Exactly the same issue I have with my Jensen and my NoName headphones, Both require manual intervention each time but the 'headset' connects fine. So have you replaced the stack with the MS one? Are you on a custom ROM?

no i haven't replaced it...i'm hoping someone will come up w/ a method allowing us to replace the widcomm w/ the ms stack. you're able to manually connect it? i can't even do that
This is very similar to the problem I outlined here. At first I thought it was related to the set of headphones that I was using, then I thought it might be related to Wm 6.5 and my AT&T Tilt 2, but now it appears that it's probably something that HTC has tweaked...?
Just recently I tried to pair my headphones with my friends T-Mobile Touch Pro2 Wm 6.1 and I got the very same connection issue as illustrated in the screen shot above. I've been without the use of my headphones for a month now. I sure hope somebody can help us solve this issue.
I'd like to be able to wirelessly connect my 4G Touch to my PC. The machine I want to connect to is running win 7 64. Apparently, there is no 64 bit BlueTooth driver for the Epic 4G Touch, as I get a 'driver not found' error when trying to connect via BlueTooth. I have full USB connection functionality.
I have a wireless AP on my network and generally use it for my internet connection. The phone connects via Kies, but there is no ability to freely roam shares on the fly. You can add folders, but this becomes tedious.
I'm thinking that there must be a way to wirelessly connect to PC for simple two-way file transfers.
The only other method that occurs to me is VPN, but is this really practical for this instance? It is in the wireless menu. I'd have to get up to speed on VPN set up and security (I've been intending to do that anyway...), but I'm OK with that.
So, given that BlueTooth doesn't seem to be an option, what is the most efficient method of wireless phone to PC connection (and vice-versa)?
Thanks!
I use SwiFTP and it works great. It's free in the Market: https://market.android.com/details?id=org.swiftp&hl=en
I use Software Data Cable it is free and does a great job I use it all the time it is so simple to use, http://www.appbrain.com/app/software-data-cable/com.lyy.softdatacable

Thanks to both of you for helpful responses...I don't know why I didn't think of ftp, but it sure did solve my problem! And I was able to use an an old favorite for a client...Filezilla.
I looked at swift. People seem to love it, but since it's no longer supported, I've installed Software Data Cable. Seems great. A nandroid backup (around 750mb) took about 4.5 mins. (over wi-fi, wrt54GL router (using wired only) with a WAP54G AP ) Connection was easy. Looks great!
I'd love to be able to use ftp to access online storage, but they all seem to be auto-syncing these days (with limited user control, from what I've read). Any suggestions for a free online storage server that allows user controlled FTP access?
AndFTP seems to provide an ftp server and client.
Thanks again!
Hi, I am not sure, whether this is the right position to post for the Screeneo U4 because it is a projector and no TV. So if it is wrong here, sorry for that and the moderators might move it to the right place. But it is running Android TV.
I recently received a Philips Screeneo U4 ultra short throw projector. This projector uses Android TV and I did some research. I thought that somebody might be interested in the results. The screenshots show german Text but the steps should be self explanatory, so I did not change the language of the machine.
The first impression is that they use their own launcher on that machine which hides “normal” Android. But not totally .

If you go to Settings and there to serial number, press OK on the remote five times. Then you find a hidden menu. Once there go to ABDDemo and you will find the standard Android developer options. On my machine they were already activated. Go to USB-Debugging, activate it and you have standard USB-Debugging access with all adb-commands working. I also activated file transfer as standard usb-setting. The projector then shows as maxtv on your computer with the standard directories in the internal storage.
If you transfer an apk-file to InstallableApps it can be installed on the machine with the app-installer in the hidden directory. You could also use adb shell commands for installing.
In that menu you also find an entry called settings which leads to another standard android settings menu. Showing for example Wifi-Settings although there is no Wifi on board.
So far the first research steps. I would be interested whether there are other owners of that projector who know more and would also be interested in suggestions to do deeper research. And might be suggestions for useful software to try.

Hello and thank you for the information, I have connected a key with two apk, IPTV and Kodi in usb but I do not see them, you are talking about ADB shell but how to connect it since there is no integrated wifi or RJ45 network cable, can you help me please?
fabio
Hello,
you have to transfer the files to the Installable Apps directory (see above).
I use the connection to the projector which I have, when connecting an usb-cable to the computer.
Kodi would probably make sense for media on a connected harddisk or stick if Kodi recognizes those. I did not try this. But the installed vlc media player does quiet a good job in playing videos and music.
I do not see the point with IPTV without any Network connection. I did not manage to activate Wifi or ehternet via usb - did you?
