How long your phone keep on without charging? (the USB connections IS charging you know ) (please write the common usage (Wi-Fi, BlueTooth, call time, etc.))
Is there any difference between PC charging and charger charging? (speed, quality etc.)
Yesterday I have FULL PC charge and after 12 Hours of active usage (20-30 min Wi-Fi, 20-30 min. talking, 10 min GPRS, 20 min other staff like gaming) the phone turn off.
12 Hours are not much .
If I charging with charger I will have better time?
10x
i think that when you switch off the phone when you want to charge, the battery take too long. sorry for my bad english
I understand you. Maybe you are right. How long can you use your phone without charging?
Around 3-4 days if I try.

In this 3-4 days how ofen you talk to phone and use Wi-Fi?
Phone conv are not draining battery a lot
Same for bluetooth
WiFi more
Backlight, gaming and GPS prog a lot
So first, reduce backlight and screen timeout to minimum
Then find a prog to kill unneeded running applications
With 1H phone conv/day -> 3 days
+ BT 2,5
+ Wifi and/or gaming -> 12H
Less for phone+BT+GPS

Hi,
I use mine all day with wi-fi and a few hours with BT on, so I bought this charger kit and I'm not worried anymore for the battery life...
i usually use usb charging when i insall program and i dont know exactly how long i use it. but when i used wi fi the battery dont survive more... i dont know. maybe you have installed software that consume your battery.... for example photo contact...
I have optimized the system, and don't use the Photo editor or other heavy programs. My girlfriend plays on bubble breaker for 30minutes per day .
Maybe Wi-Fi uses more power than I think.
Empel1960 I am poor Bulgarian man - 30 bucks is much for me . I bought this phone for about $250 and I am out of money .
I have simple USB wall charger and I use it because my original charger is on US standart, and all bulgarian power slots are on Japanise standart. I think that maybe if I found an convertor for US to Japanese standart and use original charger maybe the speed of charging will be more.
what software do you use to optimize your system?
I just keep clean startup directory (there is one icon for WiFi), don't use software who need to be ON all time (plugins, trackers, reminders, etc) and every time when I end some activity on phone, like gaming, browsing, using camera end so on I use Celetask to shutdown all programs and optimize the RAM. I believe this reduce the power needs of the phone.
For celetask see this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375451
i can find it too in wm 6.1 or not?
I got my Dash about 8 or 9 months ago and it started with WM5. I then upgraded to WM6, and now to 6.1. Over the course of the 8 or 9 months I have slowly noticed my battery go to $h*t. I stopped using my WiFi because of how much battery it would suck up. Now I text a lot and my battery won't even last me a full day. I have to charge it while I'm at work and most likely charge it when I get home. Time for a new battery I'm thinkin.
FYI,
A lot of things determine battery drain. Wifi, Bluetooth and WMP are always hungry and consume battery a lot. Than Radio (some radios require more "juice" according to the hermes, also some radios that work in Europe don't work well in the states or "down under"). Another thing that I noticed, WM6.1 needs more power.
In the end, most important thing is how you charge your battery from the begining. Never let your battery to go below 40%, It is better to do several charges than a full recharge.
Cheers
I have the Dash and I had my battery for about 7-8 months before it wouldn't keep a charge for an hour. When I called T-Mobile they said that was pretty much normal. The upside was I bought a desktop stand with a new battery on ebay for about $17 USD shipped. The battery is working extremely well. I figure by the next time the battery goes out it will be my excuse to get the Sony Xperia X1.
J.
I don't know how money I will give for shipping battery to Bulgaria... It is not normal for me to change the li-on battery in 7-8 months...

Honestly it's not normal for me either. I haven't had a battery go south like this before. Usually what happens is I end up getting a new device between 1 and 2 years.
I charge it all night using the home charger. Then when I get to work i play music through bluetooth and only lasts for about 3 hours before i put it back on the charger at work. Suckss
This is the price of thin design .
I will be happy to use it for more than 24 hours without charging....
Waiting to get my hands on my DHD at Sunday when I return home from my girlfriend. Im just curious if I need to charge it those 12ish hours like I've always done when I've got a new phone, or if batteries is different since my last one.
Thanks!
a full recommended charge by manufacturers is usually 12 - 16 hours, so charge it for 16 hours and then have some fun...

Does that also count for todays smartphones? I mean, I know all Apple Products comes precharged so you dont have to bother with the 12 hours of charging. HTC aint running that path?
I quote a message I've made in the battery life thread:
theboostman said:
Since i use some RC Helicopter with li-po/li-ion that both have the same way to produce energy, I have learned how to use this kind of battery and how to ensure a good battery life/durability.
There is no reason to worry about the battery if you follow those few recommendation (given by a battery producer):
-Your battery has to be charged with a current of 1C max (1C mean 1230mA for a 1230mAh capacity).
-Your battery voltage must not be over 4250mV. If you go over, you may damage the battery and risk random explosion/fire. In normal use, it's better to not go over 4200mV.
If you charge the battery with your phone, you will never be able to go over 4200mV because the charge stop automatically before.
-Your battery must not be under 3300mV. Same risk as above. In normal use, it is better to not go under 3450-3500mV to ensure a good battery durability (numbers of cycle charge/decharge). I think the phone show 0% at near of 3450mV, but never check this cause i never wait my phone to be as close to the death.
-Your battery has to be drain at a current of 10C max, i.e for desire HD , 12.30A (1230mAh x 10).
impossible to reach that current with your smartphone so no worries about burning your cpu with heavy bench.
Whatever you do respecting this will not be harmful for your battery.

So don't believe crazy rumor and just follow battery manufacturer recommendations.
charge the phone up to full for first time is just usefull to ensure a good calibration of the battery level in android.
But the battery itself doesn't care about first charging since they already have been charged for the stockage by the manufacturer.
You can check with Currentwidget the current send to the battery. Wait until you have 0mA. This can take 1h after the green light has turn on as the green light seems to occur by voltage mesure and not by current.
this occur every time you charge the battery and then I prefer to check with Currentwidget when the battery is actually full.
It is good to know here that a li-ion battery will reach near than 4200mV before to be full and at this state has to be charged with a current limited Alim. It seems that this is already used by the phone as you can see the current decrease as long you reach full charge.
But as I already mention, it seems that the phone show 100% when a voltage Value is reach. So it is not very accurate to see when the battery is actually full.
After that you can play whatever you want with your battery:
- You don't have to wait that the battery is full discharged to charge. ( In fact it is better to never wait your battery to be empty)
- You can stop the charge before the end.
- You can leave the phone plugged in the whole night cause the phone automatically stop the charge.
Can you use the phone on the first charge?
Yes you can. For battery point of view, no problem.
For android battery level, I don't know if using the phone at first charge can cause more inaccurate mesure but anyway the battery level will be more accurate after some cycle of charge/decharge so don't care about this. Plug the phone and use it!
Very, very detailed. Far more detailed than what I can understand. I'd follow the battery manufacturer recommendations, but HTC doesn't list anything helpful on their website.
The battery is partially charged when shipped. Before you turn on and start using your phone, it is recommended that you charge the battery.

..they dont tell you if to charge until simply fully charged, or 12ish hours. Thing is, I read in another topic that the whole point of charging for a long time was back in the "NiCad days"; but does not apply for Li-ion batteries.
Can this be confirmed?
To be more clear:
- optional(but recommended): Charge the battery up to full at first time (about 3h, check with current widget for example)
- never let your battery be empty
- each time you charge, you may charge about 45-60min more when the green light turn on. (you can check with currentwidget or equivalent when the battery is actually fully charged)

Thank you very much. : )
So I simply use CurrentWidget (by which looking on google shows the current mA) and simply waits till it hits 1230mA. Is that how the widget works? If yes, after reaching 1230mA, do I still leave it in for 45-60mins or not?
Sorry if im not getting it right - getting into Android is not as easy as I thought it would be.
No that's not right
Current widget will show you the actual mA consumed by your battery when the phone is un plugged and the actual mA sended to your battery when charging.
This allow you to check when the battery is full.
When you just plug your phone, you will see battery widget show about 500mA and then decrease down to 0mA as long you reach full charge.
When you see 0mA, the battery is full.
You will notice that the green light and 100% status are reached before current widget show 0mA.
This is why you can't trust the green light when charging your phone and have to charge it 45-60 min more when the 100% status/green light is reach

Oh!!! I get it now! THANK YOU!
Guess I'm just gonna have to deal with turning it on and getting the app. - but probably shoulnd't affect it in any way (the battery that is...) ^- ^
im picking up my new phone tonight then heading out for dinner
i dont think im going to be able to sit there and not turn the thing on and have a play with it
from reading the posts here it sounds like doing so wont cause any damage to the battery it might just screw up the android battery readout
on my galaxy s you could boot into the recovery menu and just wipe the battery memory
cant i just do that with this phone ??
I wouldn't risk it. Wait till you get home, turn it on, download Current Widget also mentioned in this topic, plug in the charger and wait for the app. to show "0mA".
I also couldn't resist turning mine on and ended up with dust on the wrong side of the screen (yes, theres a tiny gap around the screen where it crawls in - lame design) - now im going down for a swap and I wont open the box until I recieved my case for the back and shield for the front+lens.
I'd suggest you to do the same to avoid the damn dust and scratches. Its up to you tho.

i wont be able to wait that long
if it doesn't damage the battery i dont see the harm
i went and bought a case for it today so the moment i get the phone its strait into a case
Yea, it's not easy to keep the hands off it.
I dont know if it's gonna "damage" it and cause a worse battery life, but it's full potential will first show after a few recharges apparently, it's up to you. Hopefully your cover will actually cover the gaps from dust etc. (unless ofc it's a full-case cover.)
Couldn't wait
Great phone love this big screen
Just need to get home and debadge it

Got a problem with my battery I think, the phone switches off even if it's showing 60 or 50 or what ever charge. Once the comes back on it shows zero battery. So plug it in and start charging but if I wait till it's on 2-3% and unplug the charger and leave it the battery indicator goes up instead of down! lol
So I thought it might be a calibration issue so downloaded Battery Calibration app and it's showing "Current Charge: 100%, 4mV" shouldn't the mV figure be in the thousands?????
IS there a app that will show Current charge Level, Designed Level and what the max level is now ???? Like on most laptops?
Thanks

Na battery is normal. I have had it for 2yrs now and flash a new ROM every couple of weeks lol
Will fully charge it and check the battery graphs and post back later/tomorrow.
Thx for the replys
The phone switched off (was around the 50% mark) and i couldn't switch back on until i plugged AC in.
Once plugged in it showed zero but after a second shot up to 50%+, and doesn't take long to hit 80% or so.
On further inspection it does look like battery is becoming bloated. Upgrading end of the month so will live with it then sell it to O2 recycling for £30

My SGW is about that old, but I´m having here 4 batteries flying around. The one that was used regulary for about 11 months is already pregnant and not in use anymore, though it´s still working good, so now using another one regulary and the other ones are used as reserve.

Like said 2 years for such a battery is a really long time, so no wounder it get´s bloated and needs to be replaced. Just wounder O2 will pay you 30 pounds for this battery. For this money you can buy 3 new batteries
Here are some fast charging tips and tricks that actually work :
1- Turn on your airplane mode.
2- If you are waiting for any important calls or messages then ignore step one and simply turn off any unused feature like wifi and bluetooth.
3-Atleast once in a month charge your mobile from 20% to 100% this enchances battery life.
4- Atleast once in a week restart your mobile or switchoff the phone for 5 mins remove battery and reinstall and reboot.
5-The most effective is that buy a charger of a mobile like note 3 coz it charges faster than normal grand 2 charger(use at your own risk)
6- If you feel your mobile is getting hotter while charging turn off power saving mode if issue still remains turn off the phone.
Why use another charger? Using another charger than that specially designed for the phone may apply different voltage/current intensity to the battery, and thus affecting its efficiency...
You shouldn't be using another battery, every phone has its own battery charger, it's not a battery cell!!
I'm using a note 3 charger for my grand 2 for about 7 months and well it haven't affected my battery or phone and I bought it from a Samsung store and that person said it won't affect the battery but only charge it fast
"charge it fast" means going abnormal... Nothing's called charge fast and drain the same, if you charge your battery faster than it's intended to be, it'll cause trouble, most probably draining fast or the reactants of the battery wearing out fast, and 7 months are nothing lol!

Hello team
I'm coming with a question regarding the battery of the nubia read magic 5S.
I have been with the phone for less than one week and I am checking that the battery capacity is not the same as the one that is stated by Nubia. It should be 4500 mah but I have 4000 according to the accu battery app.
Can someone please double check this capacity in your phones?
Thanks

the Capaacity on mine is quite good. i think less than 3% when full its 4370mah or around that the last time i checked.
its possible you've charged it at poor intervals. and maybe used a speed charger of some kind.
for the health of the battery and to test. do this for the next 3 or so days.
during the day try to get the phone to around 5% (no lower than 3%) try not to do this fast like with gaming heavy or whatever.
then connect to a slow charger 2 or 3 amps max. and allow to charge to 100% without using the phone. allow 10 minutes grace time after the phone is fully charged to allow the battery to cool a little.
then again use the phone as you would, up to 5% again. and repeat the process 3 times. then check your capacity. that will be your real capacity. if you follow those steps exactly.

it may be best then to contact nubia or the seller you bought the phone from. if the battery is faulty or old is should be replaced. its very odd that the battery is not the rated 4400mah especially for a device that is just new. a small discrepancy like mine 2-3% is usually alright for something left in storage for 2-3 months after manufacture. but if you're past a large amount of capacity in such a short time, its possible that the battery is faulty and will need to be replaced.
do try other battery monitor apps incase your app is giving false readings. But I would contact Nubia about a warranty repair. if you bought it directly from Nubia, @JerryYin may be able to help forward your request.

Hey guys,
Long time accubattery user here.
You'll have to uninstall the app and re-install it before trying the above.
The estimates are not great for long term information but benefit more over long term (months).
If you want a fast reading, try the above but also check your estimated capacity on the main screen (charging), go to the bottom and you'll see it there. Make sure your phone is fully charged first.
My estimated capacity was 4000mah originally, but now I'm showing 4545mah (on the 5G, not 5S).

Please fix:
1. Ongoing app notifications such as my weather app showing app icon instead of weather info, same goes for
other apps such as emails, missed calls, messsages etc. where it only shows app icons instead of proper info
2. DTS X crashes on bluetooth headphones everytime, works OK with wired, but come on, it's 2020, everything's
wireless these days.
3. Every few days you need to clear "Bluetooth system app's" cache otherwise it stops connecting with paired
devices.
4. Can't set up default apps at least not all of them
Thanks in advance.
