alright so I am new to this and I am trying to backup my stock rom so I can try installing a custom rom like Virtuous Sense/DZ rom. I have rom manager the free version installed and my phone is rooted with S off. I install the rom using rom manager with the back up option checked. So it restarts my phone and the little phone with the red ! or whatever pops up so i hit the volume up and it says error cant find the recover/command or whatever it is. Can somone help me to what im doing wrong? thanks.
Your thread makes me think of Scooby Doo lol
Have you tried re-flashing CWM? I believe this is a common problem. Do that and then reboot into recovery, once in the CWM screen arrow down to "backup and restore"
In the Nandroid screen (randroid lol) select backup and let CWM do it's thing.
Yep tried that and it worked thanks!

I flashed the new clockwork mod recovery, and now I can't boot into recovery. At all. Not even power down and volume works. I've tried to restore a backup rom using rom manager, but it just goes to the bootloader menu. So confused... What do I do?

Guess you will have to start from scratch....

Copy the PC36IMG.zip file on your sd card and go into bootloader. Bootloader will automatically scan the file for you and when asked to flash, flash it.
If that works it will atleast get you into a stock ROM and you can go on from there.
Let me know if that works
Damn. Ok. Guess I'll try that when I get home from work :/ Thank you, I'll keep you posted.

Don't do that yet check my posts I had this problem a day ago.
Uninstall Rom manager then reinstall from market, flash clockwork, hit "boot into recovery", if works reboot and flash amon ra if wanted.
This solved my issue 100%
If not they gave me a link for help. Try that first before redoing everything.

That's the route I took. With the added bonus that whatever unrevoked 3 might have done to my radios when I originally rooted with the Android Central method is now bypassed.
Just need to get CM back in fighting trim again now that I've reflashed it.
I had a rom, that restarted the phone on its own, and the launcher kept getting erased, so i installed another rom and it wouldnt work.I had to Odin, and then have tried to install about 6 diffrent roms, with none working. Either it will get stuck in a boot loop, or just the buttons would light up with no screen. Please Help me
Give us more information. What roms are you trying to install. Rfs or ext4. What cwm are you using?

You listed his issues he's probably flashing in wrong Cwm or with wrong build....
Odin the ECO5
THEN ROOT WITH THE ONE CLICK ROOT 3.0.2.5
THEN FLASH ACS FROZEN 1.1.1 (Best ROM Ever )
.... Thats it
thats exacly what i did. Frozen was the 1st rom..then i later went to the gingerbread leak (anoymous) and it was working but i kept losing data connection so i went back to urban fury...then it ramdomly would reboot with no launcher and i tried to reinstall, and ever since then all i can do is odin. i wonder if my root some how is messed up or something
I'm currently running acs's sfr 1.1.1. I Flashed it twice because I had a bad flash. But otherwise its running great. There's great vid's that show you step by step. It should be in sfr 1.1.1 first post in the dev section.

What ROM?
And if its SRF did you download the version without the kernel included? Or the one with the kernel in it?
Could be bad downloads?
Try running CWM 3.0.0.6? I think is the previous version
I was having a ton of problems with 3.0.2.5 constant boot animation loop
couldn't get past any of the roms boot animations
I odin'd back to EC05, completely rerooted with the previous clockwork and it flashed good after the second time of course
had the double boot logo at first lol
if that doesnt work you could go into the bonsai recovery, I havent had any problems with that recovery at all
Hello, just checking to see if anyone can help, everytime I try to install a new rom it says that it installes but then when I reboot it boot loops after the htc evo 4g screen. I have used clockwork recovery and also used ra-supersonic-v2.3. The only thing I can install is my nandroid that I have from a previous rom. The new update wont boot either. If any one can help please let me know.
Try wiping everything and then flash the rom. And dont flash two zips at yhe same time.

I have also used a format all.zip, nothing. everytime i wipe everything multipule times it does the same. Only the nandroid works no other roms will. Please help

Yes i did try diffrent recovery's no luck
well clockwork is your problem. lol. install amon ra v2.3 recovery. once on there wipe everything in the wipe menu except the rotate settings and the sd-card. flash your rom of choice and you should be set.

So I just rooted and I am playing with ROMS. I have been using rom manager to make back up's. I went to restore a back up and they all say that my MD5 is missing and that it is not a valid backup.
I have searched the treads but only found things about mis matched MD5's.
Any advice?
I think this might help

Try backing up and restoring through recovery...Rom manager doesn't exactly do the job. If it still does it, flash your recovery again...I have to flash any recovery twice on my phone or it doesn't completely install for some reason

Initially CWM was installed fine via Rom Manager but now I can't do *anything* in rom manager. None of the options work, not even the override setting (I have CWM installed already) This wouldn't be a huge issue but I wanted to download some roms away from the computer and experiment a bit.. I was wondering why this would be occouring as it doesnt seem like normal behavior.
I click flash CWM and it gives me the little loading symbol for a few seconds..
I do the same for Override.. same thing happens
None of the other features will work because it doesn't detect CWM

I would suggest reflashing CMW through Rom Manager. Make sure you select the right version for your device GSM or CDMA as this will cause huge issues!!!
I can't flash it.. it just gives me the loading circle for a second and does absolutely nothing at all. CWM works fine outside of rom manager.. rom manager isn't working correctly. I am a little worried that this a symptom of a larger problem though.
do u have root permissions?
do u give rom manager root permission when supersuser ask u?
did u treid uninstall and install again rom manager?
Don't want to sound like an ass, but you did both unlock and root your phone, right? When you enter ROM Manager, does it ask you for superuser permission?
absolutely, I even double checked =) I am not entirely fresh to rooting phones. I have rooted, unlocked (and even flashed custom roms) I have gone back to stock.. and done the whole process again (JUST to make sure) it doesn't matter what I've done so far though.. the problem still persists.
Rom manager doesn't even ask for superuser permissions, unless rebooting into recovery (surprisingly it does this fine)

Wow, I thought it was just me. Rom Manager just did this to me last night also. I've been rooted and flashing rooms on my gnex since Feb and had no problems. This just happened to me last night out of nowhere. Wasn't even flashing anything. It doesn't even shows that I don't have recovery flashed anymore.
Weird.

Alright, I figured out my problem. Don't know if it will help you.
I forgot I downloaded the CWM touch .img but decided I wasn't going to do it. I forgot to delete the .img file from the root of my SD. I deleted it and and than rom Manager went back to normal and let me reflash recovery.
Hope this helps.

Cheers but! The root of my SD is empty >.>
Edit: so I went back into root and deleted some folders... and voila! Its all working again! Cheers for the tip mate!
