I'd like to connect my MP3 player to Desire Z and move files between them.
If you download and install HTC Sync from the HTC website (Support section), that includes various drivers.
I don't know what happens if you try without (doesn't it work anyway ?), I already installed HTC Sync before I plugged my DZ into my XP system.
I think the question is about whether the Z can be made to HOST usb devices, so mounting them as drive etc.
Yes, to be able to connect USB devices directly to Desire Z. No PC needed.

Its a question of hw as well if it has a host capable usb. I would think it doesnt. it would need power too. If it had we could even print with it. Does it have now?
Doh ! Sorry, major mis-reading by me there

I don't think the Desire Z hardware supports HOST mode. It looks like that if you can get Android Honeycomb 3.1 working on this device, then this would be possible.

http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/usb/index.html
So, it seems possible, just not just yet.
edit: HOST APIs will require Android 3.1 (API level 12) the Open Accessories API is backported to Android 2.3.4 (API level 10)

If the hardware doesn't support it, then no amount of software will make it supported. Software is not magic.
This seems to say it's not supported in Desire Z or G2: http://usbhost.chainfire.eu/

Would love to see this added to the G2 I have been trying to find out a way to connect a USB MIMO touchscreen to the G2 in order to make a car dock for it . Here is an example of USB host working on android http://sven.killig.de/android/N1/2.2/usb_host/ would this work for other phones ?
Hi, i'am also interested in this, is it possible to apply the kernel patch to the g2 ?
I've never compiled Android Kernels before, but i will try if someone here tells me it would work
Requesting a stock sense Rom safe & rooted w/o radio, honeycomb for wildfire
Pls paste a link
Thanks.
There isn't one. Not Honeycomb (out of question), and not even Gingerbread. Has there been an official Gingerbread release for the Wildfire that you are out here requesting for a "Safe Rooted Stock" Zip??
Q unable to download files larger than 4gb ?
I am unable to download files larger than 4 hv on wildfire
Is there any software or any trick wich can correct this ?
Thanx
Ps. Sorry for the stupid question above ?
You can't. FAT (And it's derivatives - FAT16/32) are limited to a max size of 4GB (Everywhere - You can check on your PC also, if you have a FAT32 partition). You will have to use another file system like for example NTFS on your SDCard, but, then, the Wildfire will no longer recognize it. (Also, I don't think SDCards support NTFS anyway)
So what else r the file systems that is supported in android?

Its is a bug on Official ICS Kernel
Hi
i want to to output audio through usb on my arc s.
i have a usb device and when i connect it, it doesnt work, obviously.
but i want to dig into this.
i know all it takes to enable it is to have the correct module (in my desktop linux, it is snd-usb-audio.ko).
then load this module into kernel (on my desktop, i should use modprobe, but in android it doesnt work).
and maybe this could go into a kernel.
so questions:
1. then module should be compiled for my android kernel, right? i mean i should get the source code and try to compile it my own, right?
maybe it is a dumb question but cant i just use module in my desktop for android? my desktop kernel is 3.5.2 (fedora), BTW
2. how should i load the module? i know it should be possible through a program, like what USB OTG helper does. but what are other ways?
i dont care for programming if it is the only way, i want it to work!
i googled a lot about this and found out some devices have this, but in general, or a way for general, i did not find aynthing.
maybe with some work we could get this done.
thx in advance
Wrong section bud should be in Q's and A's

I don't think 4.x made apps work on Android 2.3.

I really think it will work because navigon works too XD. There it says desire with 2.3.5 not kompatible. But htc one with 2.3.5 no problem it works. And there is no problem with the navigation software.
So at what parts the build prop, or what file ecer tells the play store the android version?? I changed 2.3.5 at the very top zo 4.0 or do i need to write 4.0.0??

Lol, hacking the system to get around rules wont always work. In this case the app might actually not work like Andu said. Gingerbread is missing many API's that 4+ versions of android have, and if the app is using one of them, then it simply wont work. Ive attached the APK so that you can try to install it, but no guarantees that it'll work.
Thank you.
I'll test it tomorrow and tell you weather it works or not.
Cannot install -.- so i think i'' look for a andro 4+ rom now.
Thanks again for uploading
