My phone is permanently rooted using visionary, and I have flashed clock work recovery from rom manager, but when I try to boot into recovery it just shows the phone with the red triangle? Can any one help me.
Thanks

From what I have read elsewhere, re-flash Clockwork Recovery.
Doesn't work.

You're supposed to only download and flash recoveries from Rom Manager if you're on wi-fi since T-mobile caches web pages but I was able to get around this by flashing an older version (in Rom Manager) and immediately reflashing the correct recovery (without rebooting or even leaving RomManager).
Of course you can always download the recovery.img file and fastboot flash it.
me too
Same issue. Trying to boot into recovery gives pic of phone with red triangle.
- I reflashed clockwork recovery (not sure is this helped)
- manually went into recovery manager from rom manager menu which loaded w/o problems
- selected backup and restore
- perform backup
seems like it is working...
Volume-up + power. If you already did that then i dunno

fix permissions in rom manager and reflash clockwork
recovery mode
newbie here, or course. back after 2 years away with BBerry, g2 cant get past recovery. i am looking for a way to get my device to turn back on... basically when i try to fastboot, it say i have the wrong image, or no image, fails to load E: sd card failed. i have acces to another G2 so i can get a copy of the stock rom image but has not worked::: i need assistance in this process. what do i need to load from the sd card to make my G2 turn back on or is this what bricking your device is? i have access to the recovery screen and can still load info from the sd card.
thanks for any info.
Are you saying your rom doesn't boot? Are you s-off? And if so can you get into recovery?
FYI - people generally don't fastboot from the SD, are you sure you were in fastboot mode and not hboot?

Hey guys hope someone can help me out here. I just updated my phone to the latest OTA Rooted ROM and everything was working fine. Then I used Rom Manager to download the latest Fresh 3.0.?? ROM. When it downloaded it asked if I wanted to backup ROM and wipe data. I checked both on. Then phone rebooted and it wont get past white HTC Evo4G screen. I did vol down and power and I go to Recovey and again it freezes on this screen. I cant access my sd card to put any recovery stuff on the phone. How do I get past this?? This sucks

I had the same issue this morning loading the new Fresh Rom. "Stuck at White HTC EVO" screen. Just do a battery pull to restart your phone and let it boot up normally. It should be able to load after that.
Thanks a lot fuzion. I could have sworn I tried that last night but I guess I didn't. So I guess no Fresh ROM ?? Anyway to get it on ?
You could try loading one of the PC36IMG zips on your sd using an adapter to go back to stock and start over
Well I got my phone back on and working with the 2.2 OTA rooted back the way it was. I go into ROM manager and I made sure to do the ClockworkMod Recovery install. When I turn on the phone with vol down + power I select Recovery it just freezes on the Evo 4g screen. Never takes me to the recovery menu like I used to have. Anyone have any idea why??
Let's do a checklist:
1. Full root including NAND unlock (i.e. NOT Unrevoked)?
2. Installed and re-installed latest ROM Manager, and then latest CWM?
3. Copied Fresh 3.1.0.1 to root of SD card?
4. Booted into recovery using either CWM option or power+volume up?
5. You don't have an old PC36IMG.zip on your SD card, do you?
6. If you can get into recovery, do all your flashing from there, and DON'T FORGET to do data, cache, and dalvik wipes.
7. If all else fails, maybe use CWM to flash Amon RA instead and try that way.
8. If all THAT fails, go back to toast's guides and re-root everything.
Other long shots: Install Titanium Backup and use that to install BusyBox. I have no idea if this would help, maybe it's totally unrelated. Also, you could use an app called Quick Boot to reboot into recovery, but if selecting the reboot option from CWM doesn't work, I don't know why QB would.
And one more thing: Don't be throwing the term "bricked" around when you're clearly not even close to bricked.
I, for some unknown reason, decided to flash CWM3.0.0.8 recovery through Rom Manager even though it was already on my phone. In theory that shouldn't hurt anything anyways. However when I went to reboot into recovery it gets stuck at the Splash1 screen...
I tried flashing CWM a few more times through recovery, still gets stuck.
I will try the "alternate recovery" now...
any other tips?
You said it was already on your phone so you could try and rename it PB31IMG.zip and place it on the root of your sd and flash it in hboot.
or
You could reboot your phone and downgrade your CWM to a more stable version and then flash it from your sd card?
Just flashing to a dif recovery should work

Yeah, try a different recovery. I had a couple issues, but my issue seemed to work itself out.

Hey all,
I'm having a slight issue with Clockwork Recovery as in it won't boot unless I just reflashed it.
I rooted and started flashing ROMs on day 1, but a friend of mine noticed on his phone that he cannot get into Clockwork Recovery unless he opens ROM Manager, flashes CWR, shut down manually, and reboots into Recovery manually. Any other time he is greeted with Andy on his back with the Orange /!\ on his chest. So I checked it on my phone, and sure enough, same thing.
Is this a consistent problem for everyone and if not, is there a fix?
Thanks in advance!
CWM hasn't been permanently flashed, hence the stock recovery going back unless you go through (the crap) ROM Manager. Manually flash it using fastboot and you're sorted
It automatically restores the stock recovery on boot. Look at one of the rooting guides in the dev section for info on which file you need to rename to stop this behavior.

Hi,
i found a simliar thread that was talking about a similar subject, but didn't answer my question. i have lost it and cant find that same thread for help.
rooted -flashed bad rom - everything keeps closing(apps, Google sync)--- cant get int to recovery mode because of error
****I unlocked bootloader and rooted my GalaxyNex. then installed ROM maneger. i flashed CWM,then backed up my ROM. i tested it by flashing my backed up ROM, after i had messed around and my phone went back to normal. i was feeling safe. i noticed that i was having trouble getting into the recovery mode because of the belly open with exclamation Point. i read that it is because CWM was losing permission? i found that i just had to re-flash CWM every time right before i go into recover mode. i flashed a ROM from ROM maneger and everything worked until i turned the phone on. i cant sync Google account, and basically all apps close immediately (no key board too). I cant get into recovery mode and i cant down load ROM maneger to try to re-flash CMW to restore from older ROM.
I am sorry if this is already been answered i have try to find my situation but i couldn't.
I tried to re-flash the clock work recover image through the terminal of my mac but it says permission denied... i guessing i need to find a way to re flash to stock from fastboot is this possible ?
Pull the battery and hold power + volume and get into fast boot. Flash stock images from here

Thanks I got really lucky i was able to re flash Clock work recovery in fast boot with the command
./fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-toro.img
then i was able to get into the proper recovery mode and re flash my backed up image.
if i wanted to re flash a original image would the terminal command look like this
./fastboot flash recovery "Imagename" ? i might have just got lucky but i am guessing thats how you re-flash something to your phone?
now that i have gotten back to the beginning, why is it that i have to re flash CMW every time to get in correct recovery mode? or how do i stop it from giving me the recovery error when trying to get to the correct recovery mode?
thanks again
Glad your good! Hate to see these threads but we all go through it sooner or later

After you fastboot flash the CWM image, use ADB, a terminal, or a file explore to remove or rename the file /system/recovery-from-boot.p
Hi everyone.
I was able to successfully unlock the bootloader and root the phone.
However, I have trouble trying to get into the Clockwork Recovery Mode. Every time I try I just get a message saying that this is a special distribution and some other legal stuff. I can't get into recovery mode.
Anyone else have this problem and fix it? If so, how so? I would like to install some custom ROMs.
Have u flashed the recovery in fastboot?. The screen with red letters is normal.it shows u have installed custom firmware on ur phone.

I believe I have. I have also done it via the Clockwork Mod app.
How would I go about making backups and installing custom roms?
For that u have to flash custom recovery. Flash it again...
Download appropriate recovery.img for ur phone. place it in fastboot folder.rename it recovery.img.go into fastboot n connect phone 2 pc.it should say fastboot USB. Now use command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img while in fastboot( not in boatloader screen).

I think I did that. But I will try again

Did it twice, unfortunately all I get is the disclaimer instead of the Clockword Mod recovery options. I can't even do a factory reset.
Here is what I used:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1635520
Still doesn't work.
If you flashed the clockworkmod recovery.img via fastboot and it says successful it should be on there. The HTC disclaimer boot screen is normal. You must boot into the bootloader and select recovery to get into clockworkmod.
The only recovery I can get working is Team Win. I Unfortunately after I install a rom it either freezes at the disclaimer or the rom reboots the system. The I can't even restore the stock recovery.
Any advice?

TWRP is more convenient than clockworkmod for this particular phone in my opinion. When flashing rom don't forget you have to flash boot.img (kernel) from the rom (usually extracted from the zip). If your having problems with roms you may have to RUU back to stock.
