Remember that if you use this ROM, you do so entirely at your own risk!!
About MoDaCo Custom ROMs
MoDaCo Custom ROMs are based on official ROMs - either shipping or leaked. The aim of a MCR is to be ultra reliable for use on an everyday device.

To install this ROM:
Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM (unless you are coming from a non-'Sense' ROM), however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.

This ROM is now available in the online kitchen - see the post below for details! In addition to the kitchen, a prebaked download is available.

Thanks
It's impossible to mention everyone who contributes to the Android community by name, but to everyone out there who does great work and shares it with us all - you have my gratitude and respect.
Future Updates - READ THIS!
By providing this ROM I am not implying in any way that future updates will follow. Due to limits on my time and the fact that I have a large number of devices for short periods of time, it isn't possible for me to continue providing ROM updates indefinitely. Please do not donate / sign up on the assumption that future releases will be available (I don't want you to be disappointed!).
And finally...
Details on how to donate should you wish to do so are in download topic at MoDaCo.
Enjoy!

Really? I installed it and the location is not in there? This is from a pre-baked version. Do I need to use the kitchen? I don't see it in the kitchen either... Am I missing something..?
Update: saw it in the kitchen... Gonna bake one with it and give it a try. UPDATE: Locations working like a charm on NAM Bell Desire Z.
does HTC Locations only come in the kitchen or the default rom as well? I don't have ad-free membership, but i'd love to be able to use locations app.
Yup, its only included in the online kitchen.

It's not in the pre-baked one. You need to bake a NEW one in the kitchen. I beleive Paul will fix this soon for the pre-baked one. Not a big deal to bake. Locations works GREAT on the NAM Bell Desire Z. I downloaded maps, voices, etc from within the app. The widget is also pretty cool. Sooooo happy to now have all the bell junk out too!
Is it possible to upload your locations.apk from /system/app/ ?

Since this is the European ROM, it is lacking all the locale from NA, like English (Canada). Is there a way to add them?
Install MoreLocales from the Market. I'll fix that in the next release.

[Q]2.3 drivers when source released

So my question is when the 2.3 source code is released will we as evo users be able to compile it using current drivers that we have from 2.2 or is it going to be like 2.2 where it took a month or 2 to get the camera and other stuff working
Simplified do the drivers have to be re-written or will current ones work on 2.3
Mainly wondering as would be nice to have working gingerbread a few days after source released vs weeks/months
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Android uses the Linux kernel. Drivers for the Linux kernel are called "kernel modules" and their files end in .ko (kernel object). Usually they have to be updated for every kernel release e.g. for 2.6.28, 2.6.35, etc to keep up with the kernel APIs.
In some ways Android is just "user space" meaning that it could run theoretically on any kernel. However there are some specific Android kernel requirements that the details are unclear on to me.
Cyanogen has a 2.6.35 and 2.6.36 kernel running, and Gingerbread will use 2.6.35. So things "should" work already. However there's no way to be sure until the actual source code is available.

[ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for the HTC Vision :: V7.1.0 (9 Oct 2011)

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.
Instructions:
First time flashing CyanogenMod 7 to the HTC Vision, or coming from another ROM?
Root the device and install ClockworkMod Recovery. Instructions are available here.
Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
Format the system, data & cache partitions of your device.
Perform a factory reset.
Flash CyanogenMod.
Optional: Install the Google Apps addon package.
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 7?
Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
Flash CyanogenMod (your Google Apps will be backed up & restored automatically).
Issues?
Experience issues? Please provide the following info:
If the device was hard reboot, please provide the file "/proc/last_kmsg".
If the device was soft reboot or is "bootlooping", please run a logcat and provide the full output.
Please use Pastebin when possible.

Keyboard pops out and everything just that theres no words in swypes dictionary =/ can anyone help me out? maybe send me a swypelibcore with no specified device usage? thanks

If you register on swype's website and download the latest installer, then you will never have any issues with swype.
Thanks again for a great ROM, Team CM! I've been running it most of today and haven't had any issue's yet. Great work, as usual. I'll report back later regarding any issue's and battery life.

Yes the swype beta from their website woeks fine for me
Sent from my PG06100 using xda premium
anyone with a fresh install please check if this issue has been fixed or not ..... i came from last nightly with just wipe of dalvik cache ..... but i am seeing this in 7.1 too ....
"if your editing any document or long post in any app and if you press the back button to hide the keyboard for fullscreen view and you move to some other point on the screen and tap at somepoint to bring the cursor there the cursor goes back to where it was before back button was pressed and keyboard pops up again...
i have tried it with stock keyboard and 3rd party keyboards all have same issue"
I went to swype web site and it says that if swype on the phone the beta will not work. Its a G2 so all i am trying to do is get the LIB to work. What i am thinking is my G2 build.prop somehow got changed in the update and instead of it saying tmobile g2 or htc vision it says something else which wont let me use my Swype LIB. And i am not good at editing the build prop file nor know what exactly to write to satisfy the swype lib program
Thank you so much for all of your hard works CM team!! Can't wait to install it.
Just edit the bulid.prop to match the lib you are using. Most likely ro.product.model=T-Mobile G2 and ro.product.brand=tmobile.
I had problem with the hard keyboard,
when I press the
@~
Tab
Fn
Left Shift
Those button gave me alot of letters.
Did a clean install, wipe out everything from 7.0.4
anyone has this problem?
Hmm, PlayerPro, when trying to access the equalizer, force closes (clean superwiped install)
It worked fine on the 183 nightly =(

Why do you use Umaro, then?
I'm wondering if any of these custom kernels fix the bad responsiveness of the touchscreen. I've first-hand experienced that CyanogenMod-based ROMs have the "ghostly touch when charging" issue, whereas Sense-based ROMs have the "vertical barrier touch" issue. There are videos on youtube about them both.

Samsung Internet Browser - Security

As probably most people here know, the Samsung Internet Browser is based on Chromium. However, it is based on a rather old version. Even the beta uses only version 79 of Chromium as base. What about security? Chromium itself is at version 84, if I'm not totally wrong. I don't use Chromium myself, I could be wrong there too. But how can I be sure that the Chromium base in Samsung Internet contains the latest security patches when it is using this old Chromium base?
