[Q] So doing a clean sweep of my Incredible...

Due to a recent little issue I am having I am doing a clean sweep of my HTC Incredible.
I am currently on CM7, with radio .28 , rooted , unrevoked forever, busybox... you know... things and stuff and things...
I am looking for suggestions for what I should do next.
What ROM?
What Kernel?
What Radio?
I am going on a LONG plane trip very soon so maximizing battery life would be nice without sacrificing too much in the way of power. Or heck, go for max power and show me how to REALLY crank this thing up. Just go with what you feel is the optimal setup so I can give it a try. Thanks for your input!

I wasn't aware of the fact that ROMs actually flashed the kernel as well. I thought that the kernel was something lower than the rom. As for "stock" radio, I can only seem to find posts on modded ones. Any idea as to where I can snag the original one? Thanks!

lol you could call it stalking i call it the droid incredible forums are getting kind of quiet i can even hear an echo in here lol. It doesn't matter what radio but now that i think about it you should try the new evo leaked radio its sumwere in the developement thread search the first two pages and you'l find it as for incredible reingeered z v1.2 http://www.themikmik.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=120&t=449

Huh , I'm only seeing the reingeered z v1.1 at their site/forum. Is your 1.2 a typo or am I at the wrong place (theMikMik.com ) ?

I'm basically gonna give you my set up because it works for me and I'm all about stability

This is a popular setup because of how smooth chad's kernel and CM7 works together.
9.01 is better on the battery, however 4.08 provides faster 3G speeds (in my numerous testing between them)

WWW.dougpiston.com for your radio needs. I believe he has all of them on the site. Or his app, I think its called Inc bits?

Well i'm surprised at the amount of replies this has gotten. I've already done the first guy's suggestion and I will say it's pretty snappy. I am doing backups of each setup idea and will post my thoughts on each one.
The first one with Rom-Incredible Reingeneered Z is really quick to respond and has lots of nice features. I'm just not crazy about sense is all. I'd like to smash this with an AOSP ROM for the gallery, launcher, and graphical effects that something like CyanogenMod has. However... I suppose the "Pretty effects" are what causes it to not respond AS quickly. For sure it's being saved away for further toying with ( yay for 16gb memory card! lol )

great it worked i've heard its pretty good i need to try it out sometime because warm z is getting a little to slow for my liking. I personally love sense because of all its features.

I'm not sure what graphic effects you're looking for, but Cyanogen has the fancy TV-off animation and when paired with ADW EX, you have fancy screen transitions as well. BTW, CyanogenMod 7.0.2 just came out, I'm flashing it now, I'll see if it's as stable as the latest nightlies.
EDIT: Seems that video recording isn't working on 7.0.2, I'm going with nightly #56.

Hey can anyone post a direct link for mik froyo incredibly reinginerred rom z v1.2 beta because when i go to the site it take forever to load even though i have already made an account.

I'm assuming 7.0.2 and 7.0.0 aren't THAT different that the solution wouldn't work anymore. However, I've been wrong before. I am flashing 7.0.2 and trying the second suggestion's setup and seeing how that goes for me. I will keep you posted!

Hm, it seems weird that the radio would affect the camera but hey if it works! Also I know some people use the MIUI camera, perhaps video recording works on that? Let us know how 7.0.2 works out. I rarely ever record video but like to have it available if needed.

not really my guinea pig cause i have used it but not really extensively for a long period of time so i didn't know how people did with it for a long period of time. This was my setup for like 2 hours a week ago. I just didn't enjoy all the theming but im going to try to untheme everyhting and make it an odex theme. sorry if you felt used.

Lol i've tried the glacier and imo it is better than my incredible i like the white one alot but i've been considering buying an htc sensation or evo 3d.

This is an ruu not a system dump an ruu is the full package system.img boot.img radio system and other goodies i think lol the sytem dump was just the /system folder

I beg to differ. There are plenty of Devs for the MT4G and this will be broken down to parade rest in no time. Just takes time to download from that site. Stay tuned

I downloaded this leak from China (over 300mb) and capychimps port over to DHD last night.
But guys ... this is a ROUGH one ... capychimp has had his port for the DHD out for nearly a month and there are still LOTS of major things not working on his. And capy is one of the best as far as porting is concerned.
I'm going to give it a run thru over the next handful of days and see what I can do but a) i'm already buried in other updates/commitments on ROMs and kernels that i'm not going to neglect and b) if i do manage to get it running on our devices in any sort of workable fashion, expect an alpha version with lots of things that will have to continue to be worked on ...

(maybe if i get enough THANKS button presses, it will give me super powers that will allow me to actually make this happen and sooner than later...)

Okay so I just got the GS2, while I was waiting for it to arrive I started ready all the defects, I knew already that it was not as fast as the original but then screen problems. First thing I did was a quadrant and i got 2200, 2400 last 3200. After that i did the screen test with that blog image and sure enough it is grey with lines and blog. I guess the only good thing about this phone is the data speed total bummer. I came from G2x and I notice lag on the GS2 like on home screen transition. I just couldn’t wait for the Nexus so got GS2 and I’m disappointed and now I’m going to root it and put EB see if that helps.

What's the date on the back of the box?

I came from a g2x too...but im definitely not dissapointed. Just root and flash Eb and you have a beast! Im pretty sure you know about Doniqcc's work. But yah i hated Touchwiz too...stock launcher is so much more smoother and lighter.

Actually, if memory serves, the threads with people who have screen issues have had 9/28 devices. Mine was 9/29 and its been fine.

I meant that i was dissapointed becuase of all the hype of the original GS2, hopefully its better with EB im bout to flash but coming for the G2x rooted it was fast and about the screen have you dont the blog.img test and gone through the steps cuz ive read people with box date of oct and have same issue but i still need to use the phone just got it and the only way i notice is doing the test everything else is not to bad yet.

I dnt think we need anymore roms...i want a kernel!

my device is 10/1 and it has random reboots, screen lines and blobs (not extremely awful by any means)
the rebooting is what is pissing me off

nice!! what ROM? by who? any info on what'll be included?? is this what whitehawk was talking about?? I hope so!! and the more ROM's the merrier, having options are nice, that was the hardest thing about leaving the sensation, so many to choose from, but it seems like we'll have a good amount here in short time as well. But some kernels would be nice too.....

I've had a few exchanges and the best screen is with box date 9.29. My camcorder was jumpy and I got the phone to freeze a couple of times. Rooted and flashed eb today and it is crazy fast! Very happy about my decision to flash

I am patiently waiting...and i know more ROMS are good...but whats the fun in trying other roms if all of them are pretty much the same? Meaning built off the stock rom. Yes i know Juggernaut is out which has a few tweaks, but to me its still not any different than EB.

There is no 'good' date. It just depends on each individual phone. I've had three from 9/28 now and 1 is great, 1 is pretty good, 1 was bad. I had one from 9/29 and it was decent, but the loud speaker was broken.

It's good for the flashaholics, though. I'm just happy that we have proof positive that Samsung is working hard on getting ICS up and running on our phone.

Seriously. I'm still on EL29, and will remain there until all the drama of the FB** releases are sorted out. I've seen far too many people bricking their phone, and without CWM built in yet, it's just too much hassle going back and forth. That said, it's still nice to see some actual Sprint/Samsung dev going on with regards to our phones. It's about time.

I am a flashaholic as well. I've wanted ICS for a long time but I kept patient which a lot of people did not. I also need stability as well at times don't get me wrong I'm glad they are working on things but 2 days difference at times does not show much also. that being said I still flashed FB21 lol.

Who cares if the RDF is up, they seem to put one up every 3 days or so.. it doesnt even get released for about 4-5 days after the RDF goes up.

Man, is it ever going to stop!!!

Well this isn't a leak .... yet.
I knew it would be like this once it got rolling. Which is why I'm not theming my ICS ROM or putting any real time into setting it up. In fact I've only re-installed/restored a fraction of my daily driver Apps. I've got all that tucked away in my nice little EL29 backup, which I'm 5 minutes away from if I need my phone to be 100% functional. It also makes flashing new leaks once a week easier and more fun.
Those that are bricking their phones, while I definitely feel for them, must be doing something whacky. If one follows tried, true and simple Odin and CWM methods, it's like flashing any other ROM and carries the same minimal risks. Any time I flash, I check the md5s and have a plan on where I want to be and the steps I need to take to get there. Every damn time. A bit of thought and patience can be the difference between a lot of fun and a brick.
Meh I'm fckin rambling. Probably a side effect of my 2yr old getting the flu and puking all night long. I'm tired.

totally agree with the Flashing stuff. This is one way I've stayed golden with every build without ever having an issue flashing things.

im going to hang on til there is a stable release but thanks for posting!

Some people are flashing junkies, and will love to test it out

I love that they are working on this but what I really hope Is that the leaks help the cm9 dev get things sorted out because I'm. Not moving from gingerbread until things are stable. I also really want to see what ICS Touchwiz will look like after they are DONE.
But for now I'm Perfectly happy on my very stable and fast dark ics themed blend rom!

I've been enjoying the new TW ui, much to my surprise, so I've been taking advantage of its many new features, but tablet mode was looking so great on the 4.8 inch screen! I've only ever really tested it much on my old Sensation, but the smaller screen with the lesser resolution made it seem not so ideal. I really think it could take advantage of the beautiful bigger screen of the T999! It's so unique and it would give us a whole new way to use our phone. Does anyone know how to port this to our phone? Maybe someone here is friendly with the Paranoid Roms development team? Any ideas or insight?
PS: I've tried playing around with the dpi without much success . I couldn't seem to get the phone to behave as a tablet like with some other devices, and it didn't seem to be very stable after modifying it...

Hello, I too have a sensation and have just ordered the s3. It it a big improvement over the sensation?

Oh God yes, lol! I was using the Sensation quite a bit before the gs3 was released because there's a lot of development & it can be a fun device to play with, but it's not worth comparing to the gs3. I'll probably always keep my sensation because I don't like to get rid of any of my phones, and I'm kind of a phone junkie, but it's been on loan to a friend for a few weeks now. The Gs3 will be a huge upgrade if the Sensation is the only phone you've been using.

It probably will get ported I also can't wait I used it on my galaxy nexus and love the Rom, the tablet ui is amazing and makes thin easier IMO

Thanks! I look forward to getting the S3. sense is Eh.. i agree the development on it is great but i quickly got bored of it. Can't wait for something new !

From what I have heard it should be a pretty easy port seeing as it's based off of cm9/10. I 'll probably give it a try tomorrow and upload a test build for you to try out, but im not making any promises because this week is busy for me.
EDIT: what one would you like me to try JB or ICS?

Well, if your asking what I personally would like, then you freakin" rock sir! I suppose if I were to choose which I'd like to see first it would be a cm9 base, simply because odds are it would be the most stable. A jb build would be incredible, but I generally only flash roms that are fully functional & can be used as a daily driver. I'm not the flashaholic I once was mostly because I don't have the time to be. If your able to get it booting & its stable that would be fantastic! I've personally always looked at PA as a rom that's more for something like the Note, but I think the gs3 is just large enough that I want to run with it & reinvent how I use my primary phone. If we get a 100% functional build, I may never look back, but like I said above, I've never really driven it hard before?

I got it booting but I have no signal wifi works though. I'm no dev so maybe someone can help me.

OK so I restored my Nandroid and I have my IMEI back. My IMEI said unknown in phone settings so im guessing that it was just the roms fault not a wiped IMEI? anyway here are some pics and I will upload the build. Root doesn't work as well as pad control but it's a start. Any dev is welcome to take this and use it to try and make it more functional.

Im pretty sure it's because the permissions aren't properly set for the pad.prop among others. I will have a look at the updater script tomorrow.

Wow Bro, that was fast! I know nothing about developing or porting, but I've just been starting to look into a few threads on the 101. It's definitely nothing that I'll pick up overnight, lol! Maybe if you post the build in development someone will work on it with you? I never thought I'd say this, but TW is running so smooth & has so many nice touches on FreeGS3 that I probably won't flash anything until this is running strong or a super stable Jellybean Rom of any flavor drops.

Ya I'm kind of a noob myself learning as I go.

I love PA! Hope you get some other devs to help you get this fully functional.
Once they finalize CM10, a port of JB PA would be awesome!

+1! When we get PA stable, that will get me away from FreeGS3 to check it out. Every day that I use FreeGS3 I fall more I think love with Red's tweaked TW build! I would run this on any device, there are alot of great features in TW now, & Red added even more. I love the tablet style apps though, they are so much more funtional. If I could keep a TW base, but get tablet mode for all my apps then that would be the perfect rom for me. I don't think that'll ever happen, so I'll have to run PA for a week once it's finished & see which I prefer.

I see a few things that aren't perfect just looking through the zip. Wont know more until i get it flashed but this shouldn't be too difficult.

I fixed ril. But it broke boot.
Ril paths in build.prop should be
rild.libpath=/system/lib/libril-qc-qmi-1.so
rild.libargs=-d /dev/smd0
But somehow that breaks boot.
