I hope someone here can help...
I know there are quite a few topics about headphones around, but i am looking for something specific and i am having no luck.
basically i am looking for 3.5' earbuds for the evo with mic/controls(pick/hang up, skip, back) AND volume controls.
it seems almost impossible to find any with both of these things. it's like you have to choose either one or the other.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
Doubt this will help all too much, but...
My headphones that came with my Palm Pre (single in-line button) are what I generally use if I'm not using my stereo bluetooth head set.
I use Mixing media player as I find the stock music player lacks button functionality (unless I'm just dumb and don't know how to use it).
One click, pause music. Two clicks, advance track. Three clicks, previous track/ restart track.
If while wearing just standard click to answer phone call.
I like the sound quality from the headphones, provides nice highs and lows.

I would however, like a better set of headphones and I continue to look lol more designed with HTC in mind.
well i finally found what i was looking for after many hours of searching...
HTC Wired Remote Control Stereo Headset
that real kicker is that they don't work for the evo. doesn't make sense to me...
It makes the most sense that they are not compatible for the EVO... What'chu talkin'bout?!? lol
But seriously, wtf is up with that? lol
THIS is what you need to be getting.

i'm really disliking the ones i got, but i guess that's what you get for $10.
I use the ALTEC Lansing backbeat 903 headset which has buttons for play, pause, stop, forward, reverse, answer/end and volume. Works fine for my movies and music. They are blue-tooth and last about 6 hours of continues use watching movies or listening to music. last a few days if I turn them off between calls. I love them.

Seconded man... I like how yours are yellow accented (or is that just a design mock up?).
Are you noticing any odd fitment after using them though? Like my right ear phone thing will not stay put.

That was just a pic off the net but mine look exactly like those.
They fit fine still for me but I did loose one of the ear pices once, called them up and they sent me 2 new sets for free.

I'm a new convert to Android from the iPhone, and for the most part I'm happy with the HTC Desire. There's just one thing I'm having trouble adjusting to, and that's moving away from the iPhone's default earphones for listening to music. My main hangup is the lack of in-line volume controls.
To get to the point - I'm looking for some good earphones that include:
- A mic
- Prev/next track controls
- Volume controls
What are my options? (If any)
Next and previous track not always supported but you get everything else on sennheiser ip50 ear buds. Sound great, loads on ebay for around a tenner, I paid about 50 quid for mine...

Earphones which work with Desire
I have been trying to solve the same problem, as yet with no real success. I tried the Sienhessers but they din't do everything you and I want.
Two suggestions; do your old Apple phones not work with the Desire? Most of the iPhone compatible phones I have tried do (I don't have an Apple set to try). The best solution I have found so far is adding these - http://www.complyfoam.com/Product/Whoomp!-Earbud-Enhancers - to the HTC stock phones. The sound quality is not that great but they are comfortable and the inline control has ALL the functions.
If you're really bothered, cut the buds off some decent ear buds and solder to the original htc set....

No they don't. Bit silly really!
Would be good to have a lead that plugs into the phone with the controls on and then normal headphones plug into that.
Something like this (the RC E100):

Hi I am using sennheiser MM400 for my desire, the best headphones i have ever owned, once you go wireless you'll never go back, bit expensive however but worth it. also has a mike so you can take call in between songs. Just so you are aware back and forward skip sound and play pause works for the first media player you open and that one only. If you want to use it on another media player you'll need to shut all media players down and then open the music app you'd like to use.
It's rechargeable and has a wire if you run out of battery.

Indeed. Must be the nicest headset €50 can buy.
Etymotic HF2s here. They've got one button which plays / pauses music and answers the phone. Not quite perfect functionality, but good enough for me. Also has the microphone on it, and the quality is pretty good.
Of course, the headphones themselves are wonderful. I love my etys, but they are an acquired taste. If you don't like in-ear 'phones that go in so deep that they meet in the middle, these might not be for you

I am using my good old Jabra bt620 stereo BT headset and its working perfectly.
best headset i ever had
I use iPhone 3GS headphones. Volume control isn't really an issue for me seeing as i listen to music on full anyway and the pause button still works so its all fine.
I am now using Sony wm 600 for a week or so and am very satisfied.

Pretty sure it hangs up. You know, I've never really scientifically tested it...I will do so.
Just a quick question err reassure me before i buy that i need to buy a set with 3 pin layout right?
Are all the 3 pin layouts the same ie.. if i find one with the 3 it will work?

Please any and all help and criticism welcome too...
I won't comment on the pins but if you're replacing the stock earphones for better sound quality, these will not give it. I have not listened to these but I have to a higher-end model of JBuds and they sound worse than stock.
The JVC Air Cushions on Amazon for 16-20$ are amazing, especially with PowerAmp app and listening to Techno/Electronic/House music, as well as everything else. I bought a 75$ pair of NuForce 700X IEMs and they sounded the same as my 20$ JVC Air Cushions.

Compatibility question
I have been searching far and wide for compatible in-ear headphones with a mic.
Looking at the pinout differences between the iphone and most android phones, I was very disappointed in what is available. The GND and MIC signals are reversed for many popular android phones compared to the iphone headset pinout. However, the other day, I plugged my friend's iphone headset into my captivate... AND IT WORKED!! I was shocked! I tried my headset in her iphone and that also worked.
Does this mean that iphone headsets work with the captivate? I would just love it if the headset and mic worked. Buttons would be nice, but you can't have everything.
Does anyone have experience with the Klipsch S4i or the Ultimate Ears 500vi with their captivates?
I have experience with the Ultimate Ears TripleFi 5vi on the Captivate and it works, so I'd imagine that extends to all iPhone compatible headsets. I checked out the 500vi and those use diaphragm rather than balanced armature drivers, even though they are not that different in price. I really suggest going for the pair with the better drivers, as there will be a drastic difference in sound quality.
If anyone cares...
Ok this is what i found in the I9000 forum hope it works for what i want...
Ebay link paid $13 shipped from UK...
This is what i want from it Vol up down button and mic...

Play/pause music with in-line mic control button
Lots of headphone/mic threads, so wanted to bump one with recent activity to ask a question.
I recently upgraded to GB, was listening to music with a seat of headphones with an in-line mic. I paused the song using the control button on the mic, had a conversation, and when I clicked the mic button again...nothing. The button would only begin playing the paused song if the screen was on. I tried several different lock screens, music players, widgets etc. No matter what, I experienced this functionality:
1. Music is playing
2. Screen times out after X minutes, or I turn if off with a click of the power button
3. 1 click from the in-line mic button will pause the music
4. If I click again within ~5 seconds, the music will begin to play again
5. If I wait 5-10+ seconds before clicking, the music will not start again with a single click until after I turn the screen back on again.
I’m almost 99% sure that this wasn’t the case on my old Froyo-based ROM, so I wanted to check in to see if this is just standard for everyone.
Thanks!
Like the title says, I'm using this one right now:
http://www.amazon.com/Body-Glove-Pr..._1_5?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1327906766&sr=1-5
Everything works as it should, but the sound quality when listing to music sounds like a cheap 1.99 pair of headphones. I am an audiophile when it comes to sound quality especially with headphones, this particular pair is unbearable.
Can anyone recommend a pair for under $50 that has quality sound? I really like the convenience of the inline mic and the call button. It works well with Vlingo too.
I too would like confirmation on which headsets work for our phones. My previous phone (Epic 4G) would not work with several different headphones with mic. More specifically the buttons did not behave as you would want them to. For example: music controls, volume controls, voice control, etc. I have tried Bose headphones(AE2i and Quietcomfort 3) and earphones(MIE2i), Klipsch S4i, and several skullcandies. None of the inline buttons worked for the Epic 4G and I'm afraid these iDevice headphones will not work for my E4GT as well.
Instead of making a new thread, let me just ask here:
Is there anyway to hack/mod or phones to recognize the inline buttons? I'm not familiar with how an iDevice interprets these commands, so it may be completely out of the question, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Those do look nice though. The thing is, like the Body Glove ones they use words like "premium" and "high quality" and a big WTF/Facepalm when you actually get to use them. I don't want to get suckered again so I want to get some recommended ones.
Ya know, maybe of I could just find the cord with a mic and button with the 3.5mm jack I can put my own headphones on that would be a great option too, I'd need a confirmation that it works with our phones though.
Hey guys,
up to this point I used the original S2 wired headset that came with the phone and was quite content with it. Now it seems the mic/pause-button device on the wire broke (neither the mic nor the button work anymore). Since I use BeyondPod on my phone a lot to listen to podcasts, the ability to play/pause a podcast with the push of a hardware button numerous times a day (such as when shopping or people briefly need to talk to me) is very important to me, also it was convenient to accept a phone call while I already had the earplugs in and just talk away and resume podcasting afterwards (even though I only managed to accept calls with the push of a button in about 20% of all cases, which I'd like to improve on as well).
I still got an older headset from my HTC Desire that has working buttons/mic, but I really got accustomated to the in-ears with both the richer sound and the noise-cancelling aspects of using them, so there really is no going back to traditional earphones for me.
Basically here's what I'm looking for:
-) in-ear-headset with mic and at least a push-button to play/pause podcasts in BeyondPod, volume control would be a nice extra but isn't necessary
-) ability to reliably(!) accept and end calls with the push of a button (if I need an additional app to accomplish that, that's fine)
-) as I mostly listen to podcasts, audio-quality isn't all that important, even though I'd also use them to listen to music (mainly rock, metal, industrial, so a good base bass would be appreciated) on a SanDisk Sansa Clip+ - so if the sound quality is actually good, I'd be happy
I was looking at the Klipsch S4A headset, but they mention that there are compatibility issues with the S2 - I don't need fancy triple-click combos to skip to the next track, etc. I only need working and reliable play/pause and accept/hang-up functionality, would the S4A be able to accomplish that with a Galaxy S2?
I'd like to stay below 70 euros/90 dollars if at all possible. Any recommendations from people using a headset in a similar way with an S2 would be greatly appreciated!
Well I don't own them myself, but I've searched the internet a bit and have two potential ones for you:
AKG K 328
AKG K 350
Both are in your price range and AKG is a very good choice. Especially when it comes to audio-quality. I know you said it's not important for you, but I can assure you that you won't regret it.
Anyway there is a small problem. They were made for Apple devices.
Solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352389
It seems that it works, it's just that I personally cannot confirm it. If you want to be sure, just ask the person that made the thread.
In a nutshell:
They have a high build quality.
They are comfortable.
They have (apparently) working controls.
They look awesome (especially the red K328)
There is one downside however...their sound quality will make never want to touch the Samsung earphones anymore...believe me.
If you should buy them, please tell me if they really work, add I consider to buy one of those once my old ones break.
i personally use the backbeat 906. the sound quality for usic etc is awesome and it has music controls on the device.
made by plantronics but also branded as altec lansing:
http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/backbeat-903&skuId=sku5390012
I have some htc RC E190 ear phones, they only set me back £10 from ebay and I love the sound on them, they also have flat cable that doesn't get tangled. They have a 3 button in line remote which allow answer and end calls and with poweramp the remote allows volume up and down, middle button does the following:
single press for start / stop, double press for skip track forward, triple press for back a track.
I use mine for mainly industrial / ebm /metal etc, and was extremely amazed at how good they sound for the price.

Google a bit and find out why Monster Beats have a VERY BAD reputation. Amongst audiophiles, that is.
If you care for good quality, you'd never recommend them, period.
Most people recommend klipsh s4a.
Just my two cents.
tyhanks vry much:good:
beats is good.
I'm using ibeats, fit properly, like the sound and forward&play function button, can't wait to using it with Sonny Ericsson MW 600 bluetooth
Update: I decided on the HTC RC E190, which were fine enough for my needs, if a bit on the silent side. A few days ago, the cable probably broke around the connector, resulting in the sound cutting out in one of the buds.
Not quite decided on whether to get another set (I like the flat cable design, which really proved to be tangle-free in around 95% of everyday use and the in-ears fit nicely, only real downside was that they're a bit on the quiet side) or opt for a different pair.
AW: Looking for good In-Ear-Headset
Hi,
My suggestion is the Bose MIE2 headset. Fits great, very comfortable and doesn't fall out of the ears due to those funny-looking silicone holders. And it sounds very good, I use it myself together with the Neutron Media Player.
Cheers

Hi everybody. I realize this isn't GN specific, but that's the phone I have, so I hope it's OK to post in this forum. I'm looking for a recommendation for a good bluetooth headset. I'm going to be using it to listen to music and podcasts mostly, but will need to take calls from time to time. So, features I'd prefer:
Stereo
"Athletic" design that will stay in while I'm working out or mowing the lawn
Decent noise cancellation so I can use it in my kind-of-noisy car
Preferred price: not more than $70 or $80 (though I'm not afraid to spend more for high quality stuff)
And of course it needs to work with my Galaxy Nexus. Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Oh, if it's important, I'm currently running Liquid Vicious Toro v4 Jelly Bean.
Ummm
Motorola s9hd or s10hd
I've also heard good stuff about the LG halo (can't remember the name)

It is rather stylish, lasts several days of normal use on one charge, comes with both call and volume/track controls, good sound fidelity (not premium but not garbage either - perfect for any background music) and best of all, it tackles behind the shirt collar, so I leave it on all day in the office and it is unnoticeable. It is so light that I keep dropping it on the floor every evening when changing the shirt as I completely forget it is there. Extended Bluetooth range is another plus - I regularly walk with these headphones around the house and it keeps the signal for a good 10-12 yards if unobstructed. Because there is not pressure points on ear inserts, it is good for most active exercises I do (walking, jogging on the treadmill, kayaking). I can not guarantee that it would stay in extreme situations where a lot of shoulder/neck movement is expected.
Call sound fidelity and mic are OK, I've had better in-ear bluetooth headsets but it works in most situations. For example, mic works great in car with very clear sound on the other side, but outside in windy or very noisy environment it picks too much interference comparing to the best headsets. Plus I can register it with two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. At work I have it active with my work Blackberry (don't ask) and my personal Android. So I can listen to Google Music on Android and still pick the call coming to my work cell.

Yeah, I feel like a jerk for asking for thoughts and opinions on an internet forum filled with people who might have actual experience with a product I'm thinking of purchasing. Thanks for straightening me out!
And thanks to everybody who has given me a product suggestion. They're much appreciated. One of the links lead me to the Plantronics Backbeat Go. Anybody have an personal experience with it?
If you want something that will stay in your ear and block out sound get a custom mold done once you pick a headset:

I own the backbeat go and the backbeat 903+. The Go takes some time to get used to the fit, but the sound quality is great and background noise is nonexistent. Also very hard to notice and doesn't interfere with anything on your face/neck (ie glasses or necklace PR whatever) like the 903+. However the 903+ is a much more stable fit due to the over the ear.
Either way, great stereo bluetooths for an active lifestyle. One is slimmer and lighter, the other will guarantee a permanent fit until you physically remove it.
