[Q] Telstra bootanimation.zip - Desire General

Hi,
Can any Telstra Desire users work out how to extract the bootanimation.zip? I want to port it to my Dell Streak because I'm using it on Telstra.
Thanks,
Kris

Krisbo, if you've got the Telstra ROM downloaded look for the bootanimation.zip file contained in it. You can open up the ROM with WinRAR search for it and simply extract the bootanimation.zip to a folder then check out the 'change your bootanimation' thread which gives instructions on how to use adb to send it to your device.

The only ROM I have is the RUU_Bravo_Froyo_Telstra_WWE_2.26.841.2_Radio_32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14_release_150162_signed.exe which I downloaded from HTC and that file is unable to be opened with WinRar

this thread http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/213279-ruu-zip-possible.html tells you how to extract the zip from the ruu. once you have the zip, you should be able to find the bootanimation.zip within it.

The ROM.zip within an RUU is .IMG files that can't be opened - you need to use an online kitchen to unpack the IMG files to get the bootanimation.zip
Not that easy really

agreed - but might be the only option for the OP if he/we can't track down a Telstra ROM as a zip.

How to extract a RUU to get the nbh file?

I want to extract the HTC_S620_WWE_1.27.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship.exe in order to get the EXCAIMG.nbh file.
The means? To copy it to a FAT32 formatted SD, plug it to the phone in bootloader mode and see if it works!
1- Install win rar
2- Extract the file
Voila
.NBH has been created

You been diggin in the garveyard, watch out you wake the dead
tryed
I try using winrar and its not working
It is easy:
run the update (no need to connect the device)
wait for the unpack and first prompt
go to your temp directory (XP: <profile>\Local Settings\Temp\
find the latest created directory (some temporary name)
get the nbh from there.

Go to
c:\users\<your user's name>\AppData\Local\Temp
Check thru date the last created directory
Don't forget to open first the update.
If you can't see the AppData directory, you need to change the folders settings to see hidden system files.

[Q] how to push bootanimation.zip into oxygen rom?

oxygen has second boot screen until "update-oxygen-1.0.1-signed",so i want to push bootanimation.zip into oxygen rom,i did like this..i built a file under data\local ,then i put the "bootanimation.zip" into the file ,then signed it,but i have always failed,i need somebody's help.......
i am a rookie and i does not know many english words, please forgive me,
What I always do is to open up the .rar (not unzipping it, but really just double click it), and poke around until I find the folder where the bootanimation.zip is.
Then I delete that .zip, and then using WinRar, click "Add" on the top left, and selected your desired bootanimation.zip, all of this WHILE still in the same folder where the original bootanimation was in.
When done, just sign it, then flash it as you would a normal Rom.

thank you for replying my post~
i have another question ,that is , i did not find "bootanimation.zip " in the oxygen rom ,maybe i did not find it in the right place, but oxygen rom did not have a folder called data/local...
Right, Oxygen seems to be a new breed of ROMs (hence, the no data/local), which I honestly haven't have the luxury of time to try yet (damn, lol).
Anyway, if you searched the oxygen thread, this post would have come up.
Try it and see
It's in /system/media
If you are S-OFF you can just adb push C:\asd\asd\asd.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip while the phone is running.
Otherwise you need to do it in recovery.
But wm's method is really the easiest way if you want to change your bootanimation before you have flashed an update.
While I'm at it: could you guide me to a thread/site where I can find infos regarding signing zip files? I only found really old threads :S
Thank you.

I cannot remember the creator of the program, but I used this thing called autosign.bat, which I got off the xda forum.
I'm sure you can find it around somewhere in the forum.

actually,i did it in this way, first, you need have the program called java, after you download it ,you have to set a java's environment which you can search it by yourself, attention: if you do not know much java languages ,advice you to install it in the default location. second, you need a Auto-sign tool which you can also find it by searching in xda. Then you should unzip the Auto-sign.rar under anywhere you can find it .
After you have done all of these, you can make your own rom !(all of the work below is in the unzipped folder called Auto-sign)
put the rom you have reformed into the folder called "Auto-sign",then ,you need to rename the rom to "update",after that ,double click it the Sign.bat in the folder, wait for awhile, you will get another rom called "update_signed",it is the rom you can flash into your Desire. English is not my mother tongue, if you can not understand what i have said, please reply me with simple and exact words, then, we can communicate with eachother.

How to extract system.img

Hi all,
I am trying to develop a rom but I came along this difficulty: I can't find the sysyem.img. I tried to download a .zip file, only the folder named "system" came in it. And I tried it with a .exe and looked in "%TEMP%" no luck either...
Can anyone explain how I should extract the system.img?
Thanks in advance.
I guess your referring to a nandroid backup really. When you download a rom, it comes in a zip file which you can flash and has only a boot.img file (I think, can't remember off top of my head) so it can boot. It doesn't have anything else. You only see a system.img file when you do a nandroid backup. Everything that is in the system.img file is still the same as the system folder in a zip file.. more or less.
If you do have a system folder, it is possible to convert it using the HTC Kitchen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
That should help heaps with ROM development
Can you please explain to me how I can convert the system folder, I don't have a clue.
Convert it how? How do you want to convert the system folder? And why? Might help us out more you know.
On "Theunlockr" (My guide for making a rom) It says
"If you have a .zip file, you can unpack the system.img and boot.img"
I only have the boot.img and a system folder!
And it also says: "If you have a .exe, run it until the first screen and then go to run and type %TEMP% and a rom.zip should be here"
in both cases it is not the case.
So, can anyone help me out please?

what you could try is:
take the rom from with you want to use the radio.
rename the .exe to .rar and extract it.
remove the biggest .nbh file.
run the updateutility.exe and hope it will flash (if it works then it only flash the radio)
remember that it will always hardreset the phone (it isn't a custom ruu)
oh and remember ! it is always at your own risk

oh no not that .
one more time
1) take a rom (the one with the radio you want)
example:
RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.69.401.01_Radio_5.54.09.21_22.33b.50.10_Signed_SCHUBERT_TEST.exe
2) rename .exe to .rar and extract.
3) now you have a folder with some files
4) delete "RUU_signed.nbh" from the folder.
5) run ROMUpdateUtility.exe

[Q] how to create firmware.zip out of OTA

Hello fellow earthling!
Acc. to my carrier, the JB OTA is gonna hit me soon. (Finally!) So I've been thinking about going back to stock in order to download and save the OTA file. (Which is going to be saved in /cache, right?)
=> My question:
From this update-file, how do I create a firmware.zip-file, like the one aviable on the CID thread?
Greetings from Switzerland,
BigFatTony
The OTA zip file contains the firmware.zip file so you just need to extract it.
people claim it gets downloaded in the Download(s) folder on your SD, or on the root of the SD (and is deleted if you apply it)
the OTA file should look something like this : OTA_ENDEAVOR_U....blablablbalblablablablab.zip
to extract the firmware just copy the ota file and open it on your pc and you will find firmware.zip if its included.
//SOLVED//
The OTA zip file contains the firmware.zip file so you just need to extract it.

Thank you very much! It's so simple, it's boring.
Thanks to you, too, Vcek. I'm sure I'll find it.
Have a nice evening.
