How do you get rid of voicemail notifications in the notifications bar?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You don't, unfortunately :/ It's an issue that plagues most users with AOSP ROMs, and I don't think anyone knows what causes it or how to fix it. I've gotten it so that it disappears, but it ALWAYS comes back after a reboot. I love MIUI so much that I have learned to live with it.
Use Google Voice instead as your voicemail service.

That doesn't get rid of the phantom notification that always sits in the status bar.
Well how do you make them disappear. Just so I don't have to look at the notification. I don't care if it comes back on a reboot.

It's really not a solution. It will come back after a reboot and stay there permanently. Among other things, it involves wiping everything and reflashing your ROM. It won't be there until you reboot but once you do, that's it. Only way to clear it again is wiping and reflashing and doing everything all over again. Like I said, not a solution at all. If you want to use an AOSP ROM, this is something you're going to have to live with for now. I assure you, it gets easier with time.

I am on a totally stock non-rooted EL29 sprint rom. This was also happening on EK02 which I used auto root on. When using google navigation for turn by turn directions instead of saying the street names and turn right here it is giving me html code. Has anyone ever had this issue before or any suggestions on how to fix it?
anyone have any suggestions?

i have had that issue before.... sorry i dont remember what fixed it, i think it was an update
How bizarre! I've never heard of such a thing. I'd love to hear a recording of this.
Text-To-Speech
Is your text to speech set to Samsung? Once upon a time mine did this. I changed it to pico & it hasn't happened since. Try that. Good luck.
I would try clearing cache and data in maps. Go to settings -> applications

Okay, so as we all know, there is still a semi-persistent bug with the Notifications sound+vib on the FCxx builds. Gladly, its working better than it used to, but it does go out sometime, and I have been resorting to rebooting the phone to get it back up.
Clearly, thats not a good solution. So after I started paying attention to what was causing it, I've been working harder at finding the root cause and solution to this problem.
Here is my list (from my experiences) of what has been causing the notifications to stop:
1) Putting the phone into silent/vibrate mode and then back to sound
2) Touching the screen while the phone is unlocked while simultaneously receiving a text (thus causing it to silence the notification)
My solutions:
1) Reboot (this sucks tho)
2) Go into the Phones task manager, clear ram, then call yourself.
I've noticed that if you call yourself, and let it ring AND vibrate, it brings the notifications back. For some reason, it doesn't work 100% of the time for me, but it does work like 95%, which is a good start to figuring this out.
Any help and tests from you guys would be most appreciated. Maybe we can help the devs in finding the cause of this bug so they can stomp the **** out of it. Thanks!
My notifications always seemed to stop working after making or receiving a phone call. Not sure about the other causes. I'm on FC 18 now with no issues so far.

It's a bug for touchwiz based ics roms. Anything aosp based like cm9, aokp, and code name won't have the problem. It's odd for them to not fix this bug throughout their many leaks.

I can testify that the issue is/was in AOSP roms. Had it on AOKP and Codename... Havent seen it yet on Codename nightly however.

There's something strange about the notification sound bug..after a phone call sounds are gone, clearing the ram brings them back.. The weirder part is if I receive a text during a call I can hear the notification during a call..I'm not a Dev so I'm clueless but maybe that info can point someone in the right direction

Hello everyone... I come to you with a rather annoying problem. I am running Calkulin's latest GB rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332837 and it happens at the lock screen. My phone's screen will be off and then every so often it'll randomly turn on. It doesn't do it constantly, but enough to be obnoxious. Does anyone else have this issue? I use WidgetLocker Lockscreen (paid for), but it does it with the standard lockscreen as well.
Thanks in advance!
Try uninstalling widget locker and see if the problem is still present? It could also be a setting in widget locker!

I uninstalled WidgetLocker and rebooted my phone and it hasn't done it just yet, so we'll see how it goes. Thanks. Too bad though, I like that program D:
Edit: It's doing it again without WidgetLocker :\
Try wiping cache & davlik. If that doesn't work, then try fix permissions in recovery too.
Edit: Could be an app waking the phone too. Have you tried turning off sync or freezing apps yet?

Not yet, I'll give that a shot if the wiping cache, davlik, and fixing permissions doesn't work. Here's hoping! I have titanium backup pro so I can freeze apps... I know a few things sync like google calendar.
EDIT: Still does it ;-;
Which apps should I freeze?
It might be overkill, but you could just back up texts, calls, and apps, then reflash your rom or try another. Just do a fresh install, don't restore data with your apps. It might be the quickest means to an end. Also, if it does it on multiple roms, it's possibly an issue with the power button. Give her a squirt of canned air before you go running off to the sprint store. Good luck!

Going to give this a shot, I don't have anything to lose. :x I don't have the zip file at work, but I'll download it and see how it goes. :3 Thanks. I'm trying my restore point from before I ever installed a custom ROM to see how that works first, though.
Go SMS had this under settings if you use that app

I had to reflash and reinstall without data restoring on all my apps. I restored a few key apps data and now it's not doing it again. Too bad I had to go to such extreme measures thoguh.

My wifes phone started doing that after I installed ad away... My guess is every time it blocked an air push ad it momentarily woke up. We also thought it might be a locker app or a recent update but removing ad away did the trick. Shame cause it works at killing ads.

I believe there is a wake on notifications option too. See if you can find that and make sure it is turned off

Most of the rom developers will implement ad blocking in their rom build. I know for a fact that Calkulins' use it. So you don't need to install anything else.
Sometimes they list that info on their OP.

Right right, I haven't had any issues since reflashing and everything... I had everything important backed up and I restored bit by bit and it's still doing well. I like the nice, clean feeling now Thanks for all of the help everyone.
And I read his OP but I guess I forgot ;-;

It has a setting where it will turn the screen on everytime you get a text like the iphone does. It doesnt sound like that is your issue though considering the way you say it happens randomly and you didnt mention anything about it happening when you get texts.

Ok I can't get rid of the vm notification in certain aosp rooms (aokp and paranoid android). What am I missing? I use Google voice but I don't see anywhere to disable vm notifications in settings. I remember going through this with the evo 4g and just using Google voice and disabling notifications. This issue is the reason I can't use those otherwise fantastic roms because it triggers severe ocd in me lol

I have the same ocd issue, if I even see one issue, I dwell on it, and cant run it after a day.
But to answer your question, it should be fixed in the phone.apk, I havnt run any of the nightlies, so I dont know if its been fixed again.

Thanks I a actually did that, running aokp now weird how I don't get it on the cm10 nightlies . Different phone apk?
Just as title says the navigation voice gets stuck. It usually gets stuck if I end navigation early. The next time I use navigation it will get stuck saying in 1000 feet or turn right etc. Only fix I found was clearing app data but it always comes back. Any help?
Using aokp and ktoonsez's kernal too. Also did full wipe decently and it didn't fix it.

Mine does this as well, on tw and aosp roms. Only temp fix I've found is clearing data. This has been driving me nuts, at least it's not just me. Let me know if you figure anything else out.

Since I've seen this post I've used navigation everywhere I've gone...
Noticed my nav would show me the right direction for places but the voice would tell me how to get to my previous destination...
It would say turn left etc on streets in the city I was in earlier.

I"m guessing that uninstall/reinstall only really accomplishes the same thing as clearing data. Because when you uninstall, it will of course clear the data.
I too am having this problem, consistentlyh, and on different ROMS. Very frustrating.
It tells me to turn right from the street I live on, over and over again.
same problem here
I too am having this problem.. i just restart the phone, but thats the same as clearing app data.. though less screens to go through
is there any fix in sight for this? its really aggravating.
By the way, another problem I am having with the Nav app is that when I click on Voice Entry for a destination, it flashes over to enter voice, then right back to the initial destination screen. Am unable to use voice entry.
I have had this problem on Stock ROM, as well as current Ariel Rom.
Maybe I should open a thread on this topic to see if anyone else has the issue.
