What radio are you on - latest or the .9 or .7, and, are you using the kernel in Lou's ROM, or something other? If a different (non-stock) kernel, maybe try the stock one found in the Virtuous section or ROM manager. Radio is self-explanatory - there's a fine radio thread here on XDA.
Please post results/issues in the fix so others may benefit from your experience.

I would try something like Virtuous ROM and see if it works okay. His ROM is rock solid.

Agree w/ ejdavis' guidance - also check which version of the radio you are running.
The Virtuous ROM uses the stock kernel too.

Look for and follow the very good Radio thread here on XDA - following it as directed should not brick your device. The only way to know whether this solves your problem, or eliminates the radio from the list of issue candidates, is to flash it.

I've had that same problem. I did a reboot, uninstalled and reinstalled, cleared data, but still nothing.

could be the DEV removed the rom ?
+1 .
ROM manager is broken. I even flashed from CM6 to Fresh's latest and the same issue.

yeah its messed up, any know any good alternatives? rom manager is easy to use but no good right now and dont want to have problems when flashing new roms
Hopefully the dev didn't abandon it. I have the paid version.

I believe the dev has a certain way the mirrors, etc for each ROM has to be posted so it can be parsed by ROM Manager. I'm not sure if the devs are doing this.
I also paid for the full app and some do work and update (like CM6 nightlies and fresh) - so it makes me think the devs aren't posting their roms to his server..
There was a post about how to add it around the dev forum somewhere

RIL libraries are whatever the RUU came with, I didn't touch them. I'd be very careful about flashing the radio. So much so that I am not posting links for it. Anyone feeling courageous knows where to get it and how to flash it but I certainly cannot recommend it yet.
Damn! Give him a minute, sheesh! I'll pull the ril files if you're that impatient...

[Q] Kernel Manager Pro - How to Overclock

I was just wondering if it's advisable to use Kernel Manager to flash custom kernels to overclock and if so, which kernel is the most stable and suggested for use? If not, can someone redirect me to a overclocking guide? Thanks!
It all depends on which ROM you are using (sense based or aosp).
Depends on what rom you're running. I personally don't have a use for kernel manager as I just grab the zips and flash them in recovery. Kernel manager is a tool just like rom manager, both offer users friendly methods of flashing (kernels, roms) etc or as I would say (for the noobs lol). Id rather not use an app for something i am capable of doing myself in recovery. Not bashing it just saying I personally don't need it. What rom are you running?

The free one will work fine too. Let us know some more info and we'll help you more.

I agree with ya on doing everything through recovery and grabbing your own zips.... but I remember when I first got my evo and rooted it, all this flashing, kernels, roms etc. was very intimidating (I'm a dopey chef and don't know tons about computers) and rom manager let me learn the ropes with out being scared I was going to turn my phone into a brick. I think rom manager and kernel manager (if that's what its called)are good for noobs. THEN..... when you get your feet wet and are confident with the whole thing.......GO XDA CRAZY!
I had no idea I could flash kernels through recovery too. But I'm on 2.3.3 (TMartinPPC EvoGingerSense v0.1).
Ahhhh, unless I missed something, I don't think any of the current Kernels play nice with the leaked update.

You are correct. No kernels yet for 2.3 sense but they do have some for 2.3 aosp. To flash a kernel in recovery just grab the zip place on sdcard like you would a rom, flash it, then wipe dalvik-cache, reboot and enjoy!

There's tons of 2.3 aosp roms out there. I use cm7 #39 with the tiamat 3.3.7 kernel or the savaged zen 2.0 kernel. Those are the main 2 kernels people run on 2.3 aosp. Savagez Zen also has their own aosp rom which includes more control of their SZ kernel.

So basically any 2.3 AOSP ROM can work with those two kernels? And those two kernels are the ones used for overclocking?

Correct! Cm7 has built in features that let you adjust your frequencies and governor settings; so does savagez zen. For the ones that don't just look for setcpu.

New update kernel

With the new update for the evo can I now use that kernel on other roms that run 2.3 with sense 2.1 and will it fix the brightness issue?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Depends on the rom! Just from my experience the version MIK tweaked from the MikG v1.0 - Re-Engineered GB Sense 2.1 + 3.0
[Kernel] - 2.6.35.10-htc-kernal_and18-2 - from the OTA:" worked for me on misfits and of course miks rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038967
It is in his OP thread.
I am running Gengersense B4, and I spent today updating to all of the new radios. The last thing I did was find the kernel included in yesterday's Gingerbread OTA, and of course, my Wifi now says "error".
The brightness problem with the leaked GB kernel is fixed, but my wifi no longer works. Anyone else with this problem?
I'm using Sac's Kingdom Rom V4 and the new kernel fixed my brightness issue (also made everything run much smoother).
Ya I updated all that crap and then my phone wouldn't sleep. Sometimes don't fix it if it ain't broke. I will probably try it again though.

Did you update to the 2.15 PRI? I know the 1.90 was quirky with newer baseband versions and was causing wakelock. I went with 2.15 today and also update the radio to 05.02, and I'm not getting any wakelock.

There are 2 kernels out one for the stock ota update and one modified for all other ROMs make sure you have the right one .
Here is a link .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038701
But I think you could find it in that link a few posts up from the mikg ROM.

[Q] Flashing different kernels

I just came over from a HTC incredible s and I have to say this phone is amazing. The hardware is beautiful and I love the screen! The only thing is the lag that is noticable, not to mention the fluctuating battery life
So I'm thinking of unlocking the bootloader and rooting to get some of the sweet custom rom goodness onto my phone. But I was just wondering how the kernels and roms work. I.e. how can I find out which kernel posted in the development section is compatible with which rom? And if I want to put a custom kernel onto a different custom rom how do I go about doing that??
Cheers all
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Just read the manuals. I always use the standard kernel that comes with the ROM.
When rooting, beware to execute every step otherwise your phone will be bricked.
You could just start off by trying a custom ROM to rid the lag. If you still want a custom kernel just read the threads and it'll say what its compatible with usually. Hope this helps, man. Btw, congrats on getting the Hox!

Please avoid using the term bricked. If you don't follow the steps then the ROM will not boot but that is far from being bricked.
The only sure fire way to end up bricked is by simulate battery pull wile updating Hboot with an ruu.

So the kernel dev will say what roms it is compatible with? I had a look at some and they didn't seem to be explicit as to which roms they're compatible with.
And can I clarify that the kernel is in the boot.img? So to flash kernel just fastboot flash boot xxxx.img?

Well for example- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647993 This kernel states its for rooted stock and custom ROMs. This kernel- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800603 is for AOSP ROMs for the time being. Those are just two examples but just read through and it'll state what kernels are for what. For installation just read the flashing instructions and all will be good, hope I helped!
