I've been running Baked Snack for a while now. Recently my phone started shutting off for no apparent reason. Long story short, I have a nandroid backup stored. I made it with RA recovery. I decided to try some other ROM's and I had to flash Clockwork Recovery to add them through CM. When another one started shutting down on me, I decided to go back to my nandroid. Problem is it won't read it on Clockwork. It's there, but it won't restore. I can't get the phone to stay on for more than a second or two without rebooting right now so I can't get RA recovery back on the phone. I can get to recovery but I can't get Clockwork to read my nandroid backup that I made with RA recovery.
Is there anything I can do?
just flash a new rom and call it a day
use fast boot,]change back to RA recove, and flash NAND back.
But it its not a horrible loss to just flash another rom. May I suggest Frost rom, as someone who came from BS to Frost, I think you may enjoy it. I base that off of nothing but those two factors.
you do realize this is not where you ask questions right?

Just flash myn's 2.2 rls3, it will fix your bootloops, and if you don't have 4g in your area it will enable it.
n00b giving advice (probably worthless...)

I imagine the easiest thing to do would be to use an RUU to reflash the whole thing. Then you can put RA Recovery back on and use your Nandroid to restore your system. I've already had to do that once, but I'm a total Android n00b.
mmmmm bootloops, yummy!
do a wipe/factory reset in clockwork, that will fix ur phone
its fixed my bootloops more than I feel comfortable admitting

If you really want to go back to your old backup, then here's the easy way to get your RA back.... rename this to PC36IMG.zip and place it on the root of your SD Card and boot into bootloader mode.
AmonRa Recovery via PC36IMG.zip

Guys I'm sorry if this isn't the right place for this. I didn't know.
I can't flash a new ROM. I can't get the phone to stay on long enough to do anything with it. I've tried wiping everything. I actually flashed the only ROM on my sdcard - Baked 1.8. It boots and stays on for a second and then crashes again. How to I get another ROM on my SD card. The only place I can get the phone to stay on is in recovery.
Alright, after letting it sit off for about an hour I can get it to stay on long enough to do work.
Sorry for posting in wrong place. Mods please move or remove.
Oh boy... still shutting down. I think my phone is fkd.
I was able to - after flashing BS 1.8 and clean wipe - download and install CM. I'm going to let the phone sit another hour and then hope to get on long enough to flash a new ROM. I don't have much hope though. The one I originally was switching to was Cyan 6.0 and it was shutting down a second after booting. I think it's my phone.

I was able to successfully flash my stock nandroid through amon ra. But now every time i boot my evo it keeps going back to boot loader. Am i in trouble?
I had this happen to me, and what I was able to do is this: I pulled the battery, then booted into recovery. I wiped data/cache/dalvik. I then flashed one of my nandroids, and it booted up just fine after that. Do you have more than one nandroid? You stated that you are using amon RA, did you use amon
RA to create your nandroid backup? If you used clockwork to create the backup, you need to use clockwork to flash the backup, they are not interchangeable. Hopefully this was helpful to you.
After going about... i think it has to do with the hboot being .76 insted of .79 which is what is suppose to be for 2.2. Or am i wrong? - and every time i try to do the hboot update it keeps telling me an error about a update file, cant figure it out.
Yes i have other nandroid's but, i'm really wanting to get some stuff back from my original stock 2.2. I try doing a titanium backup, but it just kept telling me i wasnt root, but i am.
FIXED!!! It was the bootloader. Spent a good time trying to look for a flashable hboot, and finally had to restore my phone back to stock 2.2, then root and restore. The solution was here, the files.

hello I just replaced a broken EVO and now that it is rooted I am trying to restore my old backup from my previous evo.. I am having a problem though
I go through all the normal process to restore a backup and everything works fine the super user permission pops up and the phone reboots but instead of rebooting directly into the reboot session it just boots me into the clockwork mod recovery recovery menu.. when i select the folder the recovery files are located in it shows up blank.. what am I doing wrong here? In the past when I selected to restore a backup from inside the os it just rebooted and started restoring automatically.. I feel like an extra step has now been added and I dont know what it is?
I should also not that while I do not know if it is related or not when I try to restore the backup from the nandroid section of the recovery menu it hangs on checking md5 sums and then says error while flashing boot image!
mind you this is on 2 separate backups I created in the past with clockwork mod recovery
It's probably not a good idea to use an old nandroid backup on a new phone. Think of how kernels run well on some EVO phones and not others. Your current phone might even be one of the EVOs with new hardware.

ok but can I still get all my apps and data back?
it would be terrible to lose all of that
and now to make matters even worse my phone is stuck on an endless loop on clockwork mod recovery I every time I select reboot system now instead of it booting into the stock rooted rom it just reloads the clockwork mod recovery menu.. what gives?
yeah, not good to load a backup from a different phone. This has been documented as happening. Just reflash whatever rom you want then radios then kernel. Sorry but if you didn't use a backup prog I thinkyou will have to manually restore apps. You may want to try titanium backup, solves the problem, use it and follow the backup instructions in Titanium backup wiki on their web site and you should be good to go next time.
Did you try a battery pull and reboot?

Nandroid backups are phone specific, you can't move them from phone to phone. You probably hosed your RSA keys which means your 4g may be broke. If I were you I would try to flash a stock rom and then reroot if needed. If that gets you out of the bootloop your in. You maybe visiting a Sprint store for a replacement phone again.
guys I could really use some help here please!
I went back to the stock rooted rom today.. all day I was adding apps making changes restarting the phone no problems.. I finally get my phone set up how I like it so I decided it was a great time to make a backup so I open clockwork mod recovery and select backup it gives me the superuser permissions prompt and restarts.. instead of starting the backup automatically it sends me directly to the clockwork mod recovery menu and now it will not load the phone's OS at all just reboot after reboot into clockwork mod recovery this is a 1 day old evo what is going on here!!??

Hey that exact thing happened to me. it happened the first time i ever loaded anything on my phone. I freaked out. Turned out the Clockword mod recovery I had must have had something wrong. I went back into the part where you load the CWM from the computer. My phone is different than yours so I cant be sure but you go into bootloader by pressing stuff, its where the logo stays there the whole time. then you flash the CWM again. and then reload the operating system and stuff. should work but just redo the CWM again. Hope it works out for you. Hope thats what it is for you too.
I was flashing a rom and I got stuck on the bootload screen. I tried to do a nand backup and its not working. I think its because I just updated the new clockwork but didn't do a nand since I updated. Does upgrading my clockwork make me not be able to use nand done with old clockwork. Or is it anything I can do the get my phone working again.
I know Clockwork and Amon Ra nands aren't compatible, so who knows if your nand backup being from an older version recovery is the issue..
Have you tried any other roms, our just the one? If not, do the while wipe out all deal & try a different rom, I prefer Ra myself, so i can't help you with clockwork too much, but in theory upgrading it shouldn't affect your ability took flash it nan, but like I said I'm not familiar with clockwork, but I have heard it can be a bit buggy at times. As well have you tried maybe flashing clockwork again, maybe something went wrong when you upgraded... There can't be much too it, just keep plugging away, it's pretty hard brick nowadays...

ok I fixed it. Thank you i was stressed. I mounted my usb from recovery and put a fresh rom on there and it worked.
Just wondering what course of action I should take. If anything could get me back to my first nandroid. I just rooted my phone, and I started trying out roms, seeing which I liked best. Not sure how it works exactly, but I figured it was that I could go from one nandroid to any other and it would work. I flashed mik3d, made a nandroid, and then flashed destroyer. All correct steps done, all fine up until that point. Tried to restore, and neither of the nandroids worked. And i tested them before I flashed destroyer. I was stuck in destroyer. Since then ive been able to flash either destroyer or mik3d, but i tried cyanogen and it gets me stuck in bootloop no matter what I do. After flashing mik3d or destroyer, it let's me restore to the last backup before the flash. No other. I backed up my apps originally, but not the data. i guess i just wanna know if I could find a way to restore the original nandroid and get my apps back instead of losing all the data. Also, mik3d is currently running EXTREMELY slow. Computer unavailable for the next few hours, typing this on my phone, and its so laggy. This has taken about 15-20 minutes to type. And if there really is no way to restore my app data by restoring the original nandroid, then what should i do to restore to stock ROM, rooted or not, doesnt matter.
OK, first off, if you're just rooted, you probably have Clockwork Mod for recovery.
You want to change that to Amon Ra.
There's a post in the development section with the file and how to flash it.
This will make your nandroids obsolete.
If you DO have Amon Ra now, or after you flash it, so this:
Go to Wipe.
Wipe All User Data/Factory Reset.
Then wipe ever sub-option, EXCEPT, SD Card: or Battery Stats if you're not fully charged.
Hit return and USB Toggle. Put the ROM you want to flash on your SD Card, then you can flash that. If I were you, I would just use the Stock/Rooted ROM from the Dev section first. You need to have a Sense ROM anyhow, if you ever need to update PRL, Profile, or take your phone into Sprint.
Once you have that loaded up, go back to Recovery and make a Nandroid of it. I always backup everything except cache, which ensures that if I have to restore, it's exactly back to how I had it all set up.
Then, put a custom ROM on that you want to flash, repeat the Wipe Procedure and flash away!
Well I'll try all that when I get home. In the middle of a 4 hour drive now. But I realized that I might have an out. Just got a new SD card yesterday, and I was using that. Switched to the old one, which happens to be after I loaded mik3d but not yet destroyer, and I'm back to the stock Rom rooted. I'll deal with the rest later.
when i rooted my evo about a week ago i followed instructions to the t for the ENERGY sense rom. i use revolution-0.4 i think that included clockwork mod for the custom recovery. i was thinking of switching to amon ra recovery. can i jsut download and flash it or will that cause problems? if so what do i need to do prior to switching recovery tools?
All you need to do to switch recoveries is download Amon Ra. Rename it to PC36IMG.zip. Then put it on the root of your sdcard. Boot into bootloader and it will ask you to update, press volume up for "yes" and bam your done. Then delete the PC36IMG.zip. (if it doesn't ask you to update when you boot into the bootloader, start your phone back up and remove the ".zip" from the recovery you renamed.

Remember that if you have any backups with your current recovery, theres a chance the new one will not be able to verify the MD5SUM and restore your current backups.

Theres a strong possibility, they are 2 different recoveries.I know from experience a few times, but then again weirder things have happened, all i can say is you can try.
