I know this has been discussed already, but I couldn't find a solution. I found a patch to enable menu-to-wake but I also want the menu-to-unlock feature that was present in 2.1. I want to be able to turn on & unlock the device by simply double pressing the menu key. The ROM I'm currently using (LeeDroid 2.2f) has trackball-to-wake and trackball-to-unlock, which is very handy, but finding and pressing the menu button is much easier.
So at this point I can already wake my device with the menu button, but I can only wake it with the trackball or by swiping. Any ideas?

Thanks for the link, however I couldn't find a solution for Froyo. Menu-to-wake, dpad-to-wake, dpad-to-unlock - these all work. Menu-to-unlock - still no answer...
Old thread, I know...
Just stumbled across this... I have a sort-of solution that I used. If you're willing to give up the HTC lock screen for the stock Froyo one, you get back menu to unlock. You also get the slide to switch vibrate/ringer.
But you lose the HTC text message preview and music controls. (I use PowerAmp for Lock Screen music and there is an SMS popup app for dealing with the messages, but I've never used it). Also - the big caveat - if you set an alarm with the HTC clock, you won't be able to shut it off unless you pull the battery, so you need another desk clock - I used Alarm Clock Plus.
Anyway, just go to /system/app and rename HtcLockScreen.apk and HtcLockScreen.odex to something like HtcLockScreen.apk.bak and HtcLockScreen.odex.bak and reboot. You'll get the stock Froyo lock screen and should be able to press menu to unlock or use the slider. (At least this is how it worked on my Incredible, but probably worth a shot on the Desire).

I noticed that the problem where you can wake and unlock your phone with the Menu key is in 6.1.1.
I'm using 6.1.1 stable with A2EXT enabled and a modified 1020 gapps (new market).
I tried asking around on the cyan IRC channel but no one was answering me. I figured I'd post here and get some feedback before I go report it. It looks like (from searching) that there's no open issue about it.
It's only really an issue when you only want to use swipe gestures/lockscreen gestures to unlock. (Which I want)
I know, you can just slide the keyboard to unlock it, but most people don't think to do that.
Anyways here's hoping to there's a workaround/fix if not I'm reporting.
Thanks!

By swipe unlock gesture you mean the slide to unlock sliders on the lockscreen? Because the menu to wake and unlock has been there all along, but if your regular slide to unlock lockscreen ISN'T working then you have a problem. But since I didn't have that problem when I used 6.1.1 I would assume it's an individual issue and suggest a reflash. However, the menu unlock isn't an issue. I believe you can disable it in cyanogenmod settings, under user interface or something rather.

No, not the jogtag unlock.
Swipe as in you go into CM Settings/Input settings/enable swipe gestures and build a gesture to unlock.
I suppose Swipe is the wrong word, Lockscreen Gestures?
IE I draw a fish to unlock my screen.
You can assign apps to this too. I Draw a V to change sound mode, Lambda (Greek L) for Torch, Gamma for Gmail, etc.
I've reflashed mutliple, and I stress multiple, times. As I said in my first post the option to unlock is unchecked. Meaning it shouldn't unlock but it does.
I even tried flashing 6.1.1 without the A2EXT package and it still does it. I really think it's a 6.1.1 thing. I've download the rom on multiple occasions, from both the teamdouche and cyanogen servers.

Hmm. I know what you're talking about, because I did the same thing, unchecked in it CM settings, and it still unlocked the phone, but I guess I just didn't care since I didn't have gestures or unlock patterns enabled or anything. It might be a bug.
Hi,
I there any way to change the default incoming call screen, when the phone is locked? The problem is that when someone calls me, and the phone is in my pocket.. the process of taking it out often involves reject or answer, while the phone is still in the pocket .
I've tried some dialers, but it seems that this is a part of htc sense.
If i can divert to standard android behavior it will help too .
Regards
Tried the App; Full Screen Caller ID ?
Yes I tried it, but its not a replacement of the default call screen .

same problem here!!
I think you have to use an other phone.apk or dailer. Then remove the htclockscreen.apk.
I wanted something similar. Just remove the htc stuff and use as only lock screen the unlock' pattern and not the htc or stock lockscreen!
I got same problem here.

Likewise, upon searching for a solution... none is found... I would very much like to use CM roms but i miss the Sense T9 dictonary... thats the reason i used Leedroids... if only cooked roms are able to change the HTC dialer to the stock ones...
There are dialer apps in the market with t9. Use one of those with cyanogenmod.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I don`t understand why Google didn`t implement t9 dialer already :/ Are there any patent`s for this? :/ Stock Android dialer sucks! aTakePhone is the best so far as I know (apart of SENSE of course )
I dont use the HTC lockscreen i removed it from the rom before install (using Revolution HD rom removed with RomCleaner)
I also removed the htcdialer.apk which does revert the phone back to the standard android answer screen (so much better imo) but your back on the android dialer and the main phone button on the homepage doesn't work either if you can live with that then just remove the htcdialer.apk.
I didn't use the phone to long without the htcdialer.apk so not sure if there are other issue's also...

Okay i did this but i must be doing something wrong...
I used Titanium Backup to remove the htc dialer ( i get repeated F/C for android core process)
Pulled out the battery.
After restart, pressing the dialer button/icon have no effect
Downloaded and used launcher pro, no effect either
downloaded Dialer one, docked it with launcher pro.. works like charm
BUT!!! When i called my own phone, im still getting that stupid HTC answer screen where u slide up and down instead of stock androids left and right...

Hmm i have been scouring the net and i seem to hit something...
If my searches is correct, the answer call slide screen is tied to the HTC Framework... Coz phones like Samsung galaxy in order to revert to the stock android lockscreen, they have to replace one of their framework files... policy something IIRC...
So wondering if any dev could look into the framework and do some editing/mods/changes?

hi,
I am having the same problem, really dont like the HTC sense screens but want to keep the stock rom as i get free turn by turn nav with my provider.
I have removed the lockscreen, so it revets to vinilla, but really want to change the slide down to answer screen?
has anyone looked into the last posed question?
It is incorporated into Sense.. No way to have a stock unlock screen and Sense ROM together...
U will have to get back to stock with scripts like "no-sense" and remove stuff from the rom after flashing it.. Or just install CM rom..
OR, this is maybe a walk around which i use it sometimes:
1. Install standard ROM with sense,
2. Install WidgetLocker
3. Set it up the way you like it
4. Choose an option to "hide the caller screen"
5. So, when it rings, you have to use the slider to unlock the screen, and then you have the sense slider (up to decline, down to answer)
This prevents to answer and gives you extra options when locked..
Hope this help.

I have gone back o Launcher Pro Plus and now instead of the htc sence slider for incoming call I get a green answer and red decline button to press.
It seems better to me but might not suit everyone.
I decided to switch back to Sence to see how things stood.
Low and behold I still have the same answer screen as I had with L.P. full screen, caller ID, and the two buttons red/green.
Don't know what I did wrong but I am glad I did.
I searched a few hours for a solution of this problem and finally found one i will try now.
The App I installed is called HD Caller ID and is free.
So for you, looking for a solution try this App. Maybe it´s good for your belongings.

I realise that the sense lock screen seems to run interdependently from the ICS lock screen. Which means I can disable the ICS lock screen, but I will still encounter the sense lock screen. That kinda sucks.
I have used apps like "No Lock" but it takes ages to wake up the device and is buggy.
Any guys have any idea? I'm not really keen not having any lock screen...
Thanks for reading!
dun think u can do it yet...
I agree, that's just an idiotic design. If I use any method of securing my phone, it takes three tasks to get in:
* Press power button
* Drag silly ring around
* Perform ICS unlock task (face, pin, whatever)
That's just daft. HTC, if you're listening, you need to provide a way to disable your lock screen.
for all there want theres lockscreen gone get
Keyguard Disabler its works on HTC One X
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwxLDEsImNvbS5ibGF1LmFuZHJvaWQua2V5Z3VhcmQiXQ..
i have tested it and its not laggy not buggy its runs realy good.
Good evening, XDA members. For those in the USA, Happy Thanksgiving, if you celebrate it. Haha!!
So I've finally moved from 4.4.2 to 5.0, Sense to GPe. I miss XposedFramework. LoL!! I'm setting up different mods and shortcuts to make the experience similar. I can double tap to view the lockscreen, but double tapping doesn't relock it. In Sense it would. I see notifications are always on the lockscreen. I want to know if there is an app, or combination of apps that would have a persistent notification and have possible buttons with one being a screen lock.
This would speed me back up. I won't have to reach for the power button when using one hand just to view the time. LoL!!
I stumbled across NiLS I believe it's called, and I tried Notification Toggle The latter seemed to work, but tje function had become depreciated in 5.0 from what the little error message said.
If anyone can suggest something that would be great. I have PIE control for my "always active" Menu button. LoL!! I can't use PIE on the lockscreen though.
Any cheat would be nice. I just want my one hand usage back. That's the last thing before I can get comfortable and learn to use 5.0 until Kernals come out. Unless there is one... =.P
Thanks,
Izaya
Hello,
I used magisk to root my phone and everything's working fine but many things I want to fix and can't seem to find how to.
First of all, what's the point of rooting if only way to remove system apps are with adb? Can do this without root.
Any way to activate double tap to open close the screen when locked? Damn I hate soooo much the single tap to open it and the double tap that does nothing to close it.
Any way to remove the bottom search bar? I removed 2 packages with adb but the search bar is still there.
Any way to close/lock the phone besides the power button? Coming from HTC U11 with squeeze features, it bogs me a lot not having any other way to lock it than the power button.
I think that is it for now. I'll add if I think of more.
Thanks!

Maybe with a custom rom I can remove the useless bottom screen search bar. Is it only working with chrome or can it work with any browser?
What I meant is with HTC U11 you can squeeze the phone to do things like open the camera, take a picture, open led lights, and most importantly lock the phone and close the screen. I was wondering if the 4a 5g can lock screen by another mean than power button.
Also I just found out there are no notifications led. How do you guys know if you have sms or emails or whatnot?

I reformatted my phone just to see what you mean about bottom search bar. The only way that I know of to remove it, install a different launcher... i.e. nova launcher, apex launcher, etc... refer to playstore
No squeezing here... Use power button
When your phone makes the notification noise and or vibrates... Like I told my wife several phones ago... Learned to live without it or get a different phone and do your research before you buy it.
