I decided to root my desire HD today,
I was on firmware 3.xx with sense 3 ... Stock Gingerbread.
I successfully downgraded to 1.24.405.1 with the help of RUU
then i managed to root my device following the wiki.cyanogenmod tutorial.
Booted up with the respective android 2.2 successfully even after the root.
Checked root access via Root checker Basic , it said i had correct root access.
How ever , after flashing the clockwork recovery mode , My cell phone has NOT been able to *reboot* properly
i.e when i switch it off , it does not give any response without me taking out the battery and putting it back again .
When i try to go into bootloader/recovery mode , it just gives me a blank black screen.
Please tell me what to do in such a situation , i tried re-running the same RUU , but it gave me an error.
Please forgive me if i have created a re-post.. understand that my situation right now isn't the best.
PLease advice me as to what i should do , i wish to flash CM 7.1 on it, or at least return back to proper stock as soon as possible .
P.S the cell works fine right now , after i have removed the battery & re inserted. It however does not reboot.
Please help me as soon as possible !

This page should have some details on how to install recovery via ADB. Not sure if it will help but it should. Try the FastBoot method.

Thank you for your reply,
For now i am reluctant to even switch off my cell phone
Is there any full proof method of solving this ??
If not then in that case i'll try this method.!

Do you mean you tried rebooting with holding down the volumeDown button and then pressing the power button?
When i shut down the DHD .. & press volume down + power, it did now go into clockworkMod.. instead it booted up fine .. into android 2.2
This probably happened because i deleted the rom manager before..i thought deleting it work also remove clockworkmod's unsuccessful recovery flash..!my bad
Also ,I wanted to ask, is it because of the buggy flash of clockworkmod recovery, that my phone does not boot up when i try to *reboot*...
Anyways, i tried the volume down & power button again , & it goes into the HTC bootloader/recovery.. which has the options of fastboot, etc .. Not the clockworkmod recovery, even though i have it installed(5.0.2.0) via rom manager
Sorry for such a long post =(

This is a very good idea, you can do so through ROM Manager. If that doesn't fix your problem, try reinstalling ROM from clockwork - don't use ROM Manager to flash ROMs.

When you boot up holding volume down and power it NOT suppose to boot into cwr. That is normal, its suppose to boot into the bootloader(white screen) from their you choose recovery to enter certain/4ext

Thank you for your kind suggestions,
I finally have a working clockworkMod Recovery,
I have to boot into bootloader, then recovery.
So right now i have backed up my ROM from clockworkMod recovery, and now preparing myself to install CM 7.1 from recovery menu itself.(after data-wipe etc)
I am safe right ? I have successfully backed up the phone(ROM) 2 times from clockwork mod recovery.
So now I can go ahead and flash CM 7.1 right ?
OH MY GOD !!!!
Now i know what the problem is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i flashed cm 7.1 successfully , still the reboot issue !
i returned to stock successfully by using the same RUU in fastboot mode... & amazingly .. SAME REBOOT ISSUE !
So now ive analysed , its the freaking wrong RUU version for my Indian desire HD
that is at fault !!!!!
So now , can any1 help me find a exploitable version ruu , so that I can flash to that version and start the rooting process again ??
If not Indian version , am i safe to put the 1.32.405.6 version RUU ??

I honestly dont think it has anything to do with the rom. Just reinstall recovery either through Rom Manager or using the link i gave to you earlier.
Solved ! =)
Downloaded proper version RUU..flashed via fastboot... solved reboot issue!
Then rooted again and put cyanogenmod 7.1
Thanks for the replies ppl =) !

Hello to the XDA Community!
I was using HTC Buzz, Revolutionary, CWM 2.5, CM7.2 RC.
Wanted to flash the new CWM and succeeded with the img file in the "PM something zip" using Android Flasher. Everything was still fine until I started a Nandroid backup.
It froze, and when I rebooted, it was stuck on the HTC Screen. So, I went to recovery, cleared everything, and restored my previous backup (performed with CWM 2.5). It says complete but the phone is stuck on the CM7 Splash Screen.
Help anyone? Thanks!
le_pigeon
have you ever set up custom mtd partitions? if you have then reflash the boot file,if not then I suspect you have a corrupt backup and you prob best off reflashing rom as I've had issues before trying to restore a nandroid from using a different cwm recovery than the version you originally made it from.

As a matter of fact I have CustomMTD, and I have reflashed the boot file as well, in vain.
Can anyone provide me with a CWM 2.5.0.5 image file? So I can degrade and restore the Nandroid?
Thanks
solved
this isn't 2.5 but it restored my 2.5 backups when I had problems. its jrodds 3.???? not a pc49 so you will have to use adb/fastboot or terminal emulator method of flashing. I haven't got 2.5 nor can I help with adb or fastboot flashing sorry but if needed I can instruct with terminal emulator method if you get a rom working 1st.
just a thought have you looked in wildfire dev sticky at 3xenos complete wildfire index thread as everything you need is normally there. regards Slymobi.

mmmm wait I just remembered that flashing a new cwm will reset custom mtd's??? don't know if this will cause your problem, try redoing mtds, both recovery then boot.its been so long since my problems that I can't remember what I'm talking about lol.
anyway I've just found the official 2.5.0.7 buried away on my sdcard same rules apply to previous post. goodluck......
solved
" Tomorrow .... its a brand new Today "
Thanks a lot for that!
Found out what was wrong, I think. I cleared everything again, but this time I reflashed the recovery of the CustomMTD and all the rest. And phone is back on!
Thanks a lot for your support. Will keep a copy of the CWM anyways just in case.
Cheers
Le_Pigeon
lol no probs. I'm gonna delete the links soon so get them and keep them safe.

Hello,
Last night my phone restarted itself for no apparent reason (I clicked to open Friendcaster and it just went poof!) and got stuck looping the "htc" splash white screen. I can go into hboot but when I try to access recovery it just starts looping the "htc" logo again. I tried installing several different versions of recovery thru Fastboot Mode - and every time in the Windows Command Prompt it says installation "okay" but I still cannot access recovery. This is all of the info I can gather by reading thru the hboot menu;
-Revolutionary-
BUZZ PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT- 6.01.1002
RADIO-3.35.20.10
The phone has mtd custom partition, and I was using the Mini CM7 by jordfaz
Thank you in advance for any help provided!
My Incredible (1) will not boot into recovery. I get the bootloader only. When I select recovery in the bootloader it just brings me back to the bootloader. I don't know how to correct this. Please help. Thank you.

Several times with no luck.
If your using rom manager try navigating to the rom manager settings and tick erase recovery then reflash 5.0.2.0 through the rom manager main screen. Only thing I can think of.

Sorry i was using the xda app, dosent show sig. Anyways does recovery error and not flash, or flash fine but you still cant access it? Try flashing the stock recovery or amon ra recovery and see if you can access them? If you can then try flashing back to cwm. If none of that works i would try doing an ruu. You can get all those files from the site in my sig.
Did you try reflashing an earlier version of recovery? 3.x.x.x?
I had problems the other day getting into recovery while running a GB version of MIUI. I went into rom manager and clicked on "flash alternative Recovery", that allowed me to boot into recovery. Try that.
Something that i've heard that sometimes works is going into ROM Manager and clicking flash recovery 3-4 times. If this doesn't work you might need to return to stock (including stock recovery) and then re-root.
Sorry I hadn't answered anyone yet. I had personal problems to deal with.
As for flashing into stock. I can't do that. I can't flash into anything because my phone will not go into CWR...
I can't flash from the ROM Manager either. It just kicks me back to the bootloader.
When I select Recovery it just kicks me back to the bootloader main menu. Nothing else seems to work.
I have root. I don't understand why this will not work. Any ideas? PLEASE... Thank you.

As mindfreak62 stated this is indeed an issue rooted in some unpublished hardware revision to the WFS. There are a handful of users with the issue and it is presently under investigation here. There is currently no solution that will allow you to run a custom recovery and many ROMs have the same issue. Your best bet presently is to stick with stock firmware until the issue is resolved. You can get back to this state by flashing your device with an RUU.
