[Q] Hard reset on a rooted phone - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What does this actually do to a rooted phone running 2.2 android? Will this unroot the phone? Hard reset is the same as restore to factory settings right?

Will not unroot. It will wipe all user info, apps, settings etc.

+1 on bender's comments. Did several hard resets the other night and kept root through all of them.

to a rooted phone, the rooted build is the factory settings. doesnt do ****.

Factory Reset

I have the 2.2 leaked Rom and I am missing the Talk to text button on keyboard since the update. I was told somewhere else that a factory reset may fix this. If i do do a factory reset, will it reset my phone to 2.2 or to the version of when i got my phone?

My Galaxy Nexus doesnt start

Hello:
My Galaxy Nexus doesnt start. I mean only the Nexus logo appears and the home screen doesnt come. Also the phone becomes very hot. I tried removing the battery and inserted it again but still the home screen doesnt come. Please help me
Please give us more info, as much as you can. Do you have a custom recovery? What version or ROM you were on and/or flashing when it happened?
Can you revert to a previous backup via recovery? Factory reset?
I performed factory reset and problem solved. But i lost all my data. I had the JB 4.1.2. Unlocked GSM version. Not rooted.
Yep, a factory reset wipes all your setting, apps, and data. If you have Titanium Backup you can restore, but I would do just the apps and not the data. Glad that got you back to a working state.:good:

[Q] Factory reset disabled wifi performance?

I'm going to double check it's not just the specific relationship with my router (which continues to work fine with all other devices)
but for now, since doing a factory reset my GN lost the ability to connect to the router.
No bars, not even grey. Changing SSID, turning off security, nothing helps.
The phone is TAKJU. Unlocked. Stock ROM. Was rooted with SuperSU.
Never had this issue before. I factory reset to be able to pass the phone along to someone else.
The only other thing I can think of was I installed Busybox before factory reseting, as some app needed it that was going to sync apps off to the new phone. Never ended up using it. Though I tried from within the app to uninstall Busybox and it said it was not successful...
But beyond that I'm sorta at a loss. Besides factory resesting what could I do? Re-flash the stock ROM?
Nevermind. Fixed it with stock re-flash. PROBABLY related to Busybox. Woops.

[Q] Do I need to unroot my LG G3 before doing a factory reset?

I have never tried doing a factory reset after rooting my phone. But I am now faced with the need to so that I can test my wifi on all original settings before deciding if I need it replaced. I am running the stock ROM. I only rooted it do use Titanium Backup and to bring in my phone history.
I have the LG G3 from/on T-Mobile.
Model: LG-D851
Version: D85110m
Build Number: KVT49L.D85110m
So can I do the factory reset without unrooting the phone? Or should I unroot it first?
Thanks!
-Patrick
You should be fine factory reseting it as long as you didn't Change or remove anything from /system/ and so on. (Includes bloatware). Most of the time factory resetting it unroots also. Good luck.
