We either need a mobile website for xda-developers or we need an app to be developed. I believe an app would be the best, it could have background notifications of when someone posts a thread and it could be really cool.
So Admins, you feel up to making something like that? This is, after all, the Windows Mobile developer site, so it would make sense for us to use it from our phones too! Anyone else wanna make the XDA-Dev Program? Come on people!!!

At one point I believe flar was looking into different skins, but I have no idea how far that went.
You can of course use RSS feeds for forums/topc subscritions which work quite well on mobile devices.
Would be nice to see a dedicated program for it though...
Maybe you can ask the guy who created the ppcgeeks app.
Jason
An app wouldn't be to hard, just take a while. And we already have a mobile version

Problem is that the archive version isn't up to date with the full version (there's a little bit of a lag...)

And you can't even post reply's via the archive.
Someone can make an app for it, someone made a Newoin.net forums app for the iPhone, so it could be done. We just need someone to pull it off.
I second this idea.
Well then, if you guys have an idea, start a new thread in the dev&hack section, with the idea and its specifications, and run it. people who will start developing this could use your thread for testing versions and so.. and eventually run a new thread for the first working versions

K, I'll draft up a new thread in the dev&hack area. I'll do that as soon as I can. Hopefully a developer can pick up this app idea!
Please pm me with the link so i can stick it and please make sure you update the thread with latest developments, ideas.. and so forth..

Is there a way I can add my own signature on here? I heard that it is in USER CP but the option isnt there ...

This was an effort to combat spam, and it's had a huge impact! You'll be upgraded to a full account after a certain number of posts (5 - 8 depending on the feature)--it happens automatically. Sorry for the inconvenience

It may take time after reaching the 5-8 post limit for it to allow you access, this is because the process runs in the background.
And when you have enough posts, you can edit your Signature in the UserCP (on the left hand side called "Edit Signature").
Or just click here : Edit Signature

People / Bots were Posting generic messages, like "Thanks this is great" or in some cases, actual responses based on words in a thread. The post it's self was not spam (although pretty pointless), but the users signature would contain 3-4 links to an online company of varying levels of trustworthiness.
We used to find one or two of these bad boys a day. Because they didn't create new threads, nor did they make it obvious to the casual observer, they were getting away with it.
I have not seen one of the so called "signature spammers" since the rules were put in place.
Dave
I had the same question...this is an excellent way to manage spam users. Good job, looking forward to delving more into this forum and getting a signature!
I was a bit upset at not being able to have a signature. Thanks Daveshaw for explaining. Its indeed a great way to stop spammers.

Ya the post limit thing when you start a new account is a good idea to keep the spam to nothing..

I like and dislike the idea.
I just logged into my account to make post (have like none) so am sorta spamming to be able to post solutions to android revolution HD. /sarcasm. My post aren't spam but i'm going to get 8 before midnight tonight!
I can see how it helps, but jeez. Couldnt post in the developer forum for the audio fix solution I made.

But you could post it in General, and then help a few people out while you were there, in Q&A, if your device has one. Don't bother with useless posts, they will be deleted and you'll never get to 10.

Well, you might be right but its not that easy. You know I have experience in those stuff in the development forum, but I have no way to make posts there.
I dont wanna be a sort of spammer by posting stupid stuff to get all the 10 posts.
But this 10 post rule leaves no other way to accomplish...
To find a topic that I can make a useful post takes a lot of time.
If you can't spend the time to make ten legitimate posts before posting in the dev fora, then you don't deserve to post there. This is a developer forum, not a support website.

Oh really? I was a clueless noob total non-developer when I came here and I had no trouble at all helping people who needed links or a little guidance where to find the information they need. XDA works because people help those who help themselves. Do not post useless posts, they will be removed and you'll never get to 10.

I requested that it remain open. I've helped out others with legitimate issues before here. Also, leaving it open allows mods to track spammers easily.
I need to post a image its very important but i gotta be reviewed by a moderator
can my account be moderated/reviewed by a moderator.
When i try to post it always says ERROR SPAM LINKS NOT ALLOWED YOU GOTTA BE REVIEWED BY A MODERATOR

You need to arrive to certain number of posts so all XDA features can be unlocked.
Keep posting and you´ll get soon.
I was posting a solution to fix annoying wi-fi issues with Samsung Galaxy I 9000 with images but the forum is not allowing me to post ? I plan to contribute a full series of problem fixes with this particular device. Can any mod allow images only (no links to other sites) for my account ?

I'm not sure, it looks like a mistake, I have PM'd the mod who closed it, asking them to enlighten us - it was only 4hrs ago.
Thanks,
Dave
I closed it based on your OP. This will avoid emails being posted as many ppl do not look at the OP. We can always re-open at a later date if you wish. I see no reason to keep it open. If its thanks your wanting to keep it open for, thats what the thanks button is for
The second one was not my doing.

Yea. I realized that must've been the reason after some thinking. Closing the thread will prevent people from posting more email addresses in the forum. And, they will start PMing me if I can't update the post. Google+ is still invite based and instant sign up links have a 150 limit. That means all those links will expire pretty soon and will need an update.
But, nonetheless, just a suggestion for XDA. It'd be better if EMails are prevented being from posted in all threads. It will only invite harvest bots.
So did you want it to remain open to avoid PMs or will you let me know when to reopen?

Guys, i am a frequent poster at a LeTV s1/X600 phone thread. It would be great if the first post was updated frequently about new information/FAQS/updates/news ROMs, important information, etc. However the OP user, has the account disabled. It's a mess that important information is spread across several pages*, not usefull for people that needs info (sometimes urgent) and not for the guys doing the answering, we don't mind answering, but it would be better for everyone if the important information was in one place.
Now, sure i could open a new thread, but somewhere in the future i will sell this phone and maybe not interested in updating the info on the first post. So, is there a way to have a post editable by more than 1 user so when someone leaves, others could continue updating?
*- This is indeed a typical problem of forums.

Sorry, this isn't really possible. The only way would be to give you the OP. And if you sell the phone and someone offers to take over, they could get the OP.

Ok, this seems reasonable. In case i open a new thread, but after a while i'm no longer interested maintaining the first post i could pass to other user. How could this be done? Is there a way to actually change the user for the first post?
Other way maybe... I could open a new user account and share it, this would be ok too, right?

To have the first post ownership changed, just hit report on the opening post and request the change. If it's someone else's thread, they would need to initiate the change. You can pm a Moderator from your section as well.
And no, it's against XDA rules to create more than one account. Also, multiple persons accessing an account is never a good idea.

All right then. Maybe it's easier to start a new thread. We just want to make a informative (FAQs, updates, tutorials, etc) opening post. BTW, the thread is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/letv-one-x600-s1-hands-antutu-camera-t3130033
As you can see, the OP has the account disabled. But ok, we'll probably open a new thread.
Thanks for the attention guys.
