So running the beta and all is great. However they decided to include the fascinate style mms.apk. I personally find the "bubble" messaging to be aweful.
Anyone that could port the 2.1 styled mms.apk to 2.2 ?

I 100% agree. I am not digging this new style at all.
Glad someone agrees with me. It looks so childish in my opinion.

Absolutely. You can take the mms.apk out of the froyo zip and put in the original one if you want, that works.

I didn't try putting it in the zip and flashing. But when I removed mms.apk and cleared dalvik/cache then pushed the Mms.apk from 2.1; however it force closed on tapping on any message/settings, etc. It did open though
Have you done this thomas? If so can you provide the Mms.apk you used?

I haven't actually done it myself, but I don't see why it wouldn't work to put it in the system/app folder of the .zip. pushing is bound to cause fc errors. Try flashing the attached .zip, it won't touch anything other than replacing the mms.apk with the 2.1 version.

Giving it a try now. Will edit with results.
And thank you Thomas. I really should get around to learning how to make flashables lol. Is there a tutorial somewhere?
EDIT:
As before. The Subtext on the Messages/Compose new message turns the orange color, but tapping ANY of them causes a FC. It must be a problem with the TW3 framework vs. the old 2.5 crap.
Try using the handcent text message app?
You can make it look like 2.1 version

Here is one that works. I Kanged it from CM6. Flash through clockwork. And YES you can change the background to black. Change it in the MMS settings
http://www.4shared.com/file/QW0Hs2rE/AOSP_FROYO_Mms.html
For those of you who want the AOSP MMS app then push this file to /system/app and you should have stock style CM6 MMS with the MMS notification in the TW lockscreen. This MMS apk is from CM6 modified to work with TW lockscreen from this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829273

I'm assuming your running version 1.0, I'm going to alter that one. It looks like after 1.0 he incorporated the circle battery with percentages. Also he themed more of the phone as well. I can't change it for you from the ones with the circle mod it would be an extreme amount of work to replicate his theme and take out that circle mod battery so I hope this is what you want. V1.0 stock battery. If you decide you want to get the dialer and all he did afterwards, hit me with a pm and I'll pull the apps out of the newer one and put them in the older one so you can just flash the original theme with stock battery and have the themed dialer etc.
Done!! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9718693/ANDRODENA_GALASSIA Epic Port v1.0stockbattery.zip
Wow thanks man!! What I did was flash version 2.0 and than flashed the port you did figuring it would overwrite the files which it did. Great thing is setcpu doesn't force close on me like it was before with 2.0. I got all the benefits of 2.0 but with the stock battery. Signal is stock as well but no big deal. Thanks again man. Really appreciate this.

Well I've been flashing Green Minimalism and then AndroDena on my phone so I could keep the green alarm clock from Green but with the update of AndroDena the alarm has been modified to match the other icons and my green alarm clock is gone. Anyway you could slap the green alarm clock into AndroDena 2.0?

Put AndroDena on your desktop. Using 7zip (download if you don't have it) and right click the androdena zip file and choose open archive. Double click on the system folder then the app folder "/system/app" Leave that open then do the same on the green minimalist theme and open it to system/app/ Delete alarmclock.apk off Adrodena and drag and drop the one from green into adrodena. Close the zip file and flash it. Should work fine.

Hey,
I wanna install the touchwiz messenger app on my evo...
i assume thats the mms.apk on the roms?
can someone provide me with that or any tips?
I been lookin into skinnin the dialer in my ROM. I'm wanting to go black but am unable to find all the necessary files I need to edit.
Anyone know all the files needing to be edited?
All the images for the dialer are in Contacts.apk. Careful though, most are the tricky .9.png types. Finally for anything fancy like transparent background for the dialer as a whole, you'll need to decompile and modify xml, I believe.
FYI- Images and functions for in-call screens are in Phone.apk.

Sorry I was describing for a vanilla setup. No idea what apk serves up the dialer in Sense.

What rom are you using? I have a custom HtcDialer.apk that I modded to have white text and I have a metamorph to change the images in the resources as well. I'd be happy to share - the dialer is from Virtuous 3.1.
The only thing I haven't figure out is how to change the text when you're in a call. For some reason, when in a call, the dialer text turns back to black. I'm still trying to figure it out. If anyone happens to know what has to be changed to make the text white in a call, PM me!

That thread is very helpful. I haven't ventured into changing the font yet, I just wanted to change the numbers to white and add a new button background which wasn't too bad.

If you were able to get it to work I'd like a black one with white numbers if you could post it.I'm using sky raider by the way.
Attached are the 2 files you requested. They are from the 3.26.605.1 leak, incase specifics are needed. Also, I will be sure to give you the credit when they make it into one of my ROM updates.
Thanks again OSully... most appreciated!!

What theme are you using? If you wanted the stock dialer you should have deleted dialertabactivity.apk and phone.apk from the zip.
No if you want aosp dialer that's not going to happen unless your running cm7. If you want the stock samsung dialer just pull dialertabactivity.apk and phone.apk from the rom your using and add it to the theme zip and flash

In his sig are all the tutorials to learn how to do it yourself. He said it is easy. I think it is xml editing and knowing the hex code for colors if I remember what he was trying to tell me.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Here's a simple way.
1.) Download a theme for EC05 with a messaging app you like.
2.) Open it in 7zip or winrar(do not unzip)
3.) Delete all folders(if any) in the root of the zip except for system and META-INF.
4.) In the system folder delete all folders except app.
5.) Inside the system/app folder, delete everything except MMS apk.
6.) Back out of the zip
7.) Copy to SD, and flash through CWM
Follow that for any system/app.

Good. Grab those tutorials I mentioned in Impaler's sig. Then you can start themeing lots of stuff. The only drawback to themeing non-system apps is they won't update, so keep that in mind if you theme an app that gets frequent updates.
Also Shane's themes often pack them seperately. Check Honeycomb Fusion explosion. It's my fav and the mms theme is very cool.
Glad you got it going. If you don't mind me asking, which MMS did you choose?

Here is a black themed mms.apk! its CM7 stock version! I cant take credit for this....big thanks to Avetny over at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047646
Just replace the mms.apk with the one in your system/app folder! Use root explorer or something, and then change permissions! for some reason it took me a couple reboots to get it to work but it works!
Especially works good with the blurry mms issues people have been having on Juggernaut!

I'm having trouble getting this to work. I tried changing permissions and fixing permissions in CWM recovery, but even after a handful of reboots it just FCs when I try to launch the mms app. Any ideas?
Edit: Never mind. I figured out my problem.
Thanks for this.
