My M5 E5653 still has Android 5.0. Software update, nor Xperia companion show new updates available. Does not seem like my carrier, Vodafone Australia, will be updating it anytime soon or at all.
I am not familiar with flashing, rooting, or what a bootloader is. To make it simple, Is there a way I can upgrade from Android 5.0 to whichever is the latest available for the M5?
Of course, if there is, I understand as someone who's not familiar with this, that is it at my own risk following instructions on how to do so
if xperia companions (restore firmware) not upgrade to 5.1
then see howto flash with flashtool
Thanks. Where can find that?? Not quite sure which other thread explains that for my situation

Hi there,
im from Germany and buy me a new XA1 Plus from Sony.
I setup all things to do on a new phone also check up for updates too.
But the OS says: No Updates there.
Version now is: Android 7
Build: 48.0.A.1.131
Did somebody know whats the Problem there? Could i do something to solve this Problem? Android 8 is one of the reasons to buy this Phone.
Thx in forward.
I downloaded the xperifirm tool to check the firmware versions of this Modell and regions.
The Central European model seems to be the only one that has not received updates for months.

Well, Not all regions receive updates check for your region related updates also you can try up Xperia Companion to check for updates or simply perform device repair it will re-download OS and flash it back to device this may work or additionally you can use some third party tools to flash the other region ROM which has OREO update to be out.

Thx for reply.
the repair function of the Sony companion software gives me the same old firmware. I gave it up that ever an updated firmware for the XA1 plus Central Europe 1 comes. I sent the phone back and bought an XA2. This is a bit more handy, but otherwise has the better hardware and a current firmware.
HI all,
Just wondering if anyone has a copy of the firmware from xperifirm for Android Pie? H8314 model, ideally NZ region but I will consider whatever anyone has.
Wanting to flash my xz2 compact back to Android Pie. I found a copy on the forums but it's a UK H8324 52.0.A.11.32.R2B copy and I'm not sure if this will cause any issues later.
My old handset was on 52.0.A.3.27 before it died and Sony sent me a replacement instead.... would be nice if I can get something similar to that firmware version.
Thanks in advance!
through Xperifirm?

Hi. I just bought this phone, it came with Android 6 and I'm looking to upgrade it to android 11, but searching for the latest firmware, I only encountered "hima" , "himaul", "himauhl" or "himawl" codename devices. I even thought that my device was the "sprint" version or something (IDK, I do not live in America). But in the recovery mode the codename is "himaulatt".
Searching in another forums I realized that himaulatt was for the htc developer edition of the M9. So, anyone knows something about the firmware? I am planning to use the "developer edition firmware" but I'm not sure if my M9 is the right target...
[Solved]
Just install the Nougat Rooted Deodexed Rom (you can find it in the forum of the M9), it includes the firmware.
Hi, I just bought a copy of the same phone. Did you have a 3.x software version at the start? Could you please explain the steps you took to get to crDroid 7.12? Thanks!
