Win7 x64 and recovery (no connection to phone)

Hey folks,
been searching and searching without any luck so far, trying to find a solution to my phone not being reconzied if i put it in recovery (volD+boot, back+power), windows sees it fine if i open the phone normally and connect it to the pc.. and i can use the ADB shell to detect it
# ../../..: adb devices
but no adb connection if the phone is in volD+power or back+Power.
sometimes Windows detects the Android 1.0 in Device manager but i wont find the drivers no matter what kind/version i fetch off the interwebz and no matter where i put it. i worked once and now the connection is just broken...
i have gotten sick and tired of the fact that i cannot get paid APPS and that the phone is filled after like 10 APP installs so i decided to root specially cause there now was a fix for the brick ...
but it seems like im pretty stuck .. neither of the 2 Rooting methods work cause of the lacking connection.... barghh...

The device is well recognized by windows but the adb can't find it (it says no device found)...

Noob question. .. did u installed htc sync? It contain USB driver 4 Windows. ..

Yeah. I have installed HTC sync and the drivers, and i have downloaded the exctracted drivers and tried to point android 1. 0 to Them, but all w7 does is tell me that it did not find any drivers for the device.

Install the leatest HTC Sync....
Boot the Phone normally and activate USB-Debugging.
Wait for Windows this installed the driver....
boot your phone into recovery and now you have driver...
Worked for me
Windos 7 Ultimate x64

Do not plug your phone on any kinds of USB HUBS, USB Extender cabels, Front PC USB ports, or any kind of strange PC cards with USB ports.
Also use only original HTC cabel which you got with your phone.
Plug your phone in first USB port on the motherboard closes to the mouse and keyboard.
My phone wasnt recognized by ADB while it was conected to front USB ports, but other things where working fine (Sd card browsing and copying)
Try and report back if it helps.

I plugged it with the OEM HTC cable, also installed the latest HTC Sync, with both latest HTC and Android SDK x64 drivers, it just doesn't work..

On win 7 64 too.
Motherboard asus p5k,my device is working only with the rear usb port.
Must be a question of usb amperage...

Works fine for me, W7 x64 Ultimate, but I only use Windows to get into recovery - linux to root the phone initially

Bricked - Can I save my phone??

Posted this over in Pauls MoDaCo forum as well but not had any replies yet so thought it best to try here as well.
I've bricked my Desire, phone loads up but the sim and sd card aren't recognised (though I can still use wi fi).
When connecting the phone to my PC (tried windows 7 and XP) the drivers fail to install and I get various faults like the device being recognised as android 1.0 usb to a Qualcomm device.
The phone is still rooted (I can install rooted apps from the market) however after following various unbricking guides I always get stuck at stage 2 (i.e. enable sd card), if the PC won't recognise the device how can i run the 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' command?
I've also tried running fastboot using a terminal app on the phone but it doesn't recognise fastboot, should i be in a specific directory on the phone when running this command?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Have you tried using a different jab port? I had to use one at the back of my pc front ports wouldn't install drivers properly.

You need to follow the guide on modaco for unbricking your device. You have the usb brick, and it can easilly be fixed.
Follow the steps religiously and you will be up n running in no time again.

I've followed the guide lots of time, it's not that long winded so it shouldn't be to hard to follow.
I get stuck on step two, using the fastboot command.
My PC and also tried laptop (Win XP and 7), different USB ports (front and back) but each time it attempts to load drivers and I end up with it either being recognised as an Android 1.0, Android Bootloader Interface or a Qualcomm device. I then run fastboot, and get the device not recognised error.

I've now tried to connect my phone to a windows Xp and 7 PC and a laptop, a Linux laptop and tried using the Tiny Linux root guide to see if that would work, but each time the PC/laptop fails to recognise the phone so can't get into recovery or run the fastboot command.

You don't need to get into recovery for this.
You have sdk installed, so boot your phone by pressing power while holding down the volume down button.
Use a command prompt on your pc and cd to the tools directory in the sdk. If the sdk is saved to the root of your C: drive on the pc you would type

cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
When in there type
Code:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
This will re-enable your sd card and allow you to continue.

That doesnt work, just stops on the waiting for device line and doesnt continue.
Also using the cmd 'adb devices' shows nothing so I'm guessing my phone isn't recognised on my PC. At the moment it's in fastboot usb (on phone) and in devices on the PC I've got Android Bootloader Interface with the yellow problem sign against it.

It definitely sounds like the old usb brick problem, so that's a good thing! When you tried the commands were you booted into fastboot? When you connect the phone to the computer does the phone display change from saying fastboot to fastboot usb? I think thats what it should say, can't remember to be honest!
Have you tried another usb port, and a different cable too?
Edit: I'd also try rebooting the computer to ensure any running process etc are closed.

Got it fixed, final throw of the dice this morning I connected the phone to a Vista laptop and it was recognised straight away, so downloaded HTCSync then ADB tools on to the laptop and finally got the re enable command to work.
Jeez that took for ever, strange that Xp, Win7 and Linux PCs couldn't recognise the phone but Vista did.

I am trying to do the S-Off Precedure With Alpharev, using the noob proof guide and i am stuck. I have downloaded the Alpharev software and on the guide it says you can either put it on USB or burn it to CD... As i have no blank Cd's I have put it onto a USB, but it doesn't seem to be working??
Can someone please help??

no need to waste a CD or USB stick space, try to use a virtual machine instead, much more easy to use

It depends on whether your computer is able to flash from a USB drive. I also had some issues with it. I eventually just burnt it onto a CD.

i burnt it on CD as well
make sure your PC BOOT SEQUENCE is setup to boot from CD driver first not HDD
my main pc was setup to boot first from CD driver. so i had no issues or setting up to do.

I was trying to boot my laptop from USB, for a different reason, and eventually found the option under HDD as an option, rather than a stand alone option.

Hi,
Did you make it a bootable USB stick ? Try with this: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/. "burn" the image don't just copy it.
Also be careful with your USB device size. I've tried making a 16 Gb stick bootable and it didn't boot. It worked perfectly with a 2 Gb USB stick.
When you computer boots press F2 or F10 (whichever is your boot sequence selector) and select boot from USB.

AlphaRevX now includes support for the Droid Incredible 2 (HBOOT 0.97).

This version will also download and flash custom recovery if you want to, after getting S-OFF.
Note: the very first download missed some DLLs for the windows version, that should be included now.

Small Linux distro here: Download Puppy Linux
Download that, burn it to a CD or put it on a flash drive with UNetbootin.
Boot up and download/make a new key for Linux. Extract it and run as root. (open terminal and run "sudo ./alpharevx")
I couldn't get it to work in vmWare.

mines stuck on waiting for fastboot...im on window 7 64 bit, im gonna try reinstalling the drivers, but nothing else ive tried works
after reinstalling drivers....it now says failed

I am testing with my friend phone's , mine was off with xtc clip .

It keeps on disconnecting and reconnecting, and that makes it get stuck. I uninstalled the htc sync and drivers and reinstalled the linked driver here. Going to try again. It just flat out failed the first time, got all the way to rebooting the bootloader x2 the second time, but then failed. Both times I heard the bu-dunk of a device being unconnected from my computer. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Edit: I tried downloading the alpharev file again, and it had more stuff in it this time. Going to try again. Will post results.
Edit 2:Still no joy. Failed in the same spot. Tried on xp and same thing. Will dig around for my old ubuntu cd and see what happens.

Are there specific system requirements for this to run?

Let's put a error summary here:
- Windows 7 32/64bit (or all Windows OS?)
- HTC Sync not installed.
- HTC Drivers (provided by Alpharev) installed.
- switching USB ports tried
- two fastboot attempts
+ specifically for those without .dll problems (resolved).
Also, could a mod possibly merge the three Alpharevx threads..? :/

On Windows 32 it makes it up to the Fastboot process. Enter the key, everything works good, then it gets to the section trying to change the Fastboot and fails each time.

Do I need Android sdk for this, for adb.

this is where mine is ATM, reinstalling the drivers provided seemed to fixed the hang up issue, now it tries to go to fastboot twice and then says failed.
still windows 7 64 bit, i have an XP pc too if that works for anyone let me know plz.

For now there's only the Linux option. Seems like drivers and .dll problems don't happen there.

When i try it it says (Beta key accepted - thank you for participating!) but nothing happens my phone doesnt do anything. any help would be great.

i failed in windows numerous times, went downstairs to use my linux server and worked first time.

[Q] need to get out of fastboot

Hello again, I am having a bit of trouble as of right now and i would like some feedback, now a little back story, I used to be into rooting and such, always dong it for my friends and i was quite good. Then came my hiatus of about a year or so and now im back and i guess i dont remember exactly how to do this and i have screwed up a friend of mines kindle
My dilemma
I have gone in with the rooting process with kfu and i went and changed the drivers to adb and then i went into bootload and changed it to fastboot, and i have forgotten that windows frowns upon such a thing and now the kindle is stuck in a bootload at the stock booting screen of the white and red "KindleFire" and every time i connect it i get and error message saying that the device isnt recognized by windows and it is probably malfunctioning (which we all know it isnt) and i want to change it back to normal bootload but kfu wont recognize it either because of windows. I have tried to re-install the drivers to get it to be recognized as an android device again but alas that dosent seem to work either. So it would most appreciated if i could get some help on this one.

If its a windows problem try running a VitualMachine of a linux distro and try using fastboot there. Or create a live usb of a linux distro and temporarily run linux on your pc.

well i would like to avoid to using linux but if i really have to i will

is there any possible way to do it without linux
