T3 phone of the year and now techradar favors it over Desire HD

Go Desire!
Yeah, the phone actually increased its value. Great xda support too.
People are amazed at what we can do.

Hell yeah I hope this and ofcourse our passion for the device here at XDA will send a strong message to HTC to update us with new Sense and Gingerbread and even further!

I absolutely agree with Techradar. It is an incredible device, especial the one with the AMOLED screen - which I just happen to own of course! After seeing mine, two of my friends who are die-hard Nokia+symbian fanatics saw the light and now have Desires as well!

Its time to say goodbye from most of us to our desires in our coming months. I remember my first unboxing. First rom i flashed. Many good times.
Honestly the desire was a perfect device in so many ways and can still keep up in current times. But better things lie ahead *cough* one x *cough*
Please post memories of your desire and what your going to do with it.
Im either going to trade it in for a desire z or overclock it to 1.3ghz and flash a stock rom
Also post what phone your going to. Mine is the one x

Oh my desire. I remember when you arrived. I remember when I saw your beautiful amoled screen for the first time, when my fellow AT&T employees were carrying around a backflip by Motorola. The oohs and ahhs never ceased. It's been so long that we have been together, but I must pass you on to someone who will take good care of you.
I'm sorry I dropped you that one time getting out of the car, but you held together and was built strong.
We have a few more weeks together and I promise you a good home.
Love you always and forever and will stay with your HTC family forever. I have decided on an HTC one s in grey, since you have spoiled me these many years with those amoled eyes of yours.

Hi all,
I have been using a HTC Desire Z. I was wondering if it is a worthy upgrade to the One X? My main dislikes are the non removable battery and no micro SD card. Is there other features would convince me to get this device?

U can upgrade to One X as it has all the good features like TEGRA 3, Quad Core, Good Battery Life, Good Performance as compared to many other phone as I've seen the Benchmark Results
Its a good phone for Entertainment, Gaming, Socialising, Busines & Everything that wherever U go u wont feel like ( O i'm missing this feature or.... hmmm).
Nothing special about this phone.

It looks good and feels good in the had but im afraid it breaks easily+if it wasnt for our devs this phone would lag like as if it was htc inspire. Is just annoying ow htc doesnt care at all and the funny thing is the way how they address the issues, instead of admitting their fault and trying to fix things they act like as if they are a alreadg highly established brand that is a leading supplier in the industry and no matter what they do still customers will buy their phone but truth is that customers might buy their phone once but when they see they got screwed because their quad core phone performs like a normal phone and pieces start to fall slowly then they go to samsung which btw is way much more dev friendly

Define "special" in the context of a phone. It has the best screen out there, the CPU for which all the best games are optimized, the best UI OEMs ever made, build quality is superb, battery lasts for 5 hours when watching movies... I guess you thought it will also do your laundry and now you are disappointed of it not being that "special".
To OP: I came from Desire HD which was referred as the "big brother" of the Z. I am really happy with my purchase. Though having ICS with sense 4 on the DHD, the difference in the screen and the overall experience is amazing. That's all I can tell you.

In 1 word: ABSOLUTELY
In more words: Your issues with non removable battery and no micro SD card are irrelevant, cuase it has excellent battery (will get even better with SW updates) & 32 GB onboard + 25GB Dropbox + SKYDRIVE + GoogleDrive. And the phone has some CLASS. Definitely UPGRADE.
Well thing is 3G in Australia isn't very good and I do believe that storage will be in the cloud in the future. I personally have stopped using the Sense UI since its so bloated.

I would like to know if this phone is hard to permanent root?
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Easy peasy. You unlock it via HTCDev. But just for the Tegra model. The US version from AT&T is a world of hurt.

Today I learned the true powers of the Android OS. It's So advanced. I left the 4S for this phone and I never been more happy.
I'm using the Asia One X in the usa on AT&T. The hardware on this phone is amazing. I'm so happy I made the switch.
When I first used it I noticed that the data was a tad bit slow. So I decided to to some research (Google and i go waaay back lol) and i found it could be do to APN settings. But the access point names where good. For all americans using this phone you gotta go online and change your data from Data for iPhone to data for smartphone. you can also call them. I did this now data just as fast as it was on my 4S and I'm getting more signal bars now. went from 3 to full.( if this helped you hit my thanks button) I'm trying to learn everything I can about android everything. any tips on what I can do or who I can talk to would be great. Thanks to all.
DROID DEFF DOSE!
You got my thanks for the switch from 4s to Android. Have fun with Android!

I am really tempted to upgrade, however I keep telling myself that if I just let my 2 year contract expire, the phones that will be out in that time will be a lot better then the one.

I was really very tempted to get HOX when it got announced last year which I of course bought. Somehow I don't feel that about ONE. I guess that's because I am completely happy with my HOX, and prefer the way it looks comparing to the one. Not planning to upgrade anytime soon and the reason is not that I can't afford

There is a developer model available, ships SIM free with bootloader unlocked, I'm not 100% sure that it will be s-off but it does say fully unlocked, no mention about warranty but it seems there trying hard to give the community they want.

I would have seriously considered it, but i feel it is going to be let down badly by the camera.
Guess i will wait & see what the inevitable refresh of the design will be. (who said One+)
No. I have the hox.
No more HTC unless they remove their crappy implementation of s-off and locking bootloaders.
The only way I'll ever go back to HTC is if they make another nexus device. Barring that....I'll stay with Samsung (I have an s3 as well, as you can see by my tapatalk sig

apart from the battery and the camera i dont think the s4 has got that much more.. good looking device but i think the alluminium unibody of the One is nicer. and probably most of the people here prefers sense over touchwiz. indeed two top specs phones!
definitely tempted with One. Also signed up for the supposely $100 rebate from HTC. Who knows...I might buy the One to get the rebate and sell it hopefully at a higher price. :fingers-crossed:...unless I decide to keep it
