Hello everyone,
I've long had this, weird problem where the time stamp for certain events like when i recieve sms or phone calls are wrong
For instance I had a Nokia phone prior to my HTC and the time stamp for sms msgs were always 4/5 hours (depending whether its DST or not) behind the current time
I have the time set to network, or i would change it manually and it never fixes it. I thought maybe its due to it being purcharchased internationally (Hong Kong) so the it caused some error..
I now have a T-Mobile HTC TP2 and the same problem is occuring, the time is 4hours slower than the current time and I don't know how to fix it!
However, when I boot it via Project Android to run it in android mode, it doesn't suffer from this problem. The time stamps are correct!
please someone helllpp

Try THIS THREAD to get your SMS messages to get stamped with the device's time instead of the carrier's time.

I tried to search the forums for this, but couldn't find anything. When I upgraded to the 6.1 ROM (CRCs 9.2) Whenever I receive a text message the time stamp is an hour before. If I receive a Text at 5:15 PM, it will say it was received at 4:15 PM. This isn't a problem when reading them because it still orders them in the order sent/received in the conversation window. But If I send a text and a different conversation within an hour later receives a text, in my summary screen the sent one will still appear at the top, because it has a later time. The biggest annoyance is when using PIM backup to restore my Texts, it sorts them by time. A lot of the conversations restored will have all the receives then after all the sents, because of the time difference. I thought it was isolated to one contact / cell carrier. It appears to be all texts I receive. Am I the only one seeing this? Any thoughts?
I did download CRCs 11.2 ROM last night, and wanted to give it a try, but fear restoring my conversations from yesterday, and not being able to read them.
Re-check your time/date/region settings again. I had the same problem and when i checked the region settings (a second time) it was a different time zone, i put in the correct time zone and all was fine . hopefully that helps
I tried that and it didn't make a difference. The regional settings are for the US, the the TZ settings are picked up by the network from my carrier. I am in the Mountain time zone. There are 3 mountain time zones, Arizona has their own mountain, with out daylight savings, and the one in Mexico. The carrier assigned it correct as GMT -7.
I may just have to live with it.
I to am in the same area as you and have noticed this problem from time to time.. I don't send/receive a whole lot of texts, but the ones that were an hour off seem to all come from the same source, my wife. I checked her phone and it was on the wrong time zone.
Is there a program that let you send the same text Automatically Daily to a person without you actually having to type it.
i had searched for software like that but to no avail.... but my phone does that automatically, and the only way i will be able to fix it is to flash [sic]me[sic] phone.... "my phone sends the SAME text message to my girlfriend all the time... after some troubleshooting, figured out it only does this when I open Text or E-mail (tmail.exe) - the signal quickly changes from Ev to 1x almost instantly after opening tmail.exe... currently I just leave it running in the BG, (not much time to flash) there have been days where she will get the same "Ill call you in a bit" message 8 or more times... There is also an issue where I will soft reset the phone and sometimes it will send a random text to someone I had texted earlier that day or even the day before." it is a wierd issue... ba-a-ad software issue. wonder how many people have experienced that

That's what I want I want a software that can send the same text automatically to one person once a day everyday.
Auto TXT
You might want to look into PowerSMS.

It might be something you can work with.

you could just hard reset your phone...
or take it to your carrier and tell them what is happening
There is a program that is a powerful text message program
There are these two guys that specialize in text message software. They have software called Auto Text Sender that can be found at www.autotextsender.com
They also have this software called Auto Text Mailer that can be found at www.autotextmailer.com
I own both and I love those softwares they have made me alot of money

I've had the same problem, with people getting random texts from me. I don't have T-Mobile though..
I am having a problem with text messages. Every outgoing text message is right, but every incoming text message reads an hour earlier than it really is. So if someone sends me a message at 4pm, my phone says it is received at 3pm. It's really annoying, and it messes up then entire list of messages from a person. Is there anything I can do about this? I have the Energy Sense Rom.
Anyone had this problem??
Hey, I run the Cookie Energy ROM and OCCASIONALLY on a new flash the time stamps will be messed up. What fixes it for me, is enter your time settings (click on the clock in the HOME Sense Tab) and pick the time zone, then manually enter the correct time and it typically fixes it inside the Sense Text Client.
However, you can also use something like SMS-Chat, which runs faster and cleaner. But occasionally freezes. I'm not sure how to fix this. But just a suggestion. Cheers
I talked to Rogers techs and they reset my phone settings from their end and still messed up. Then they blamed the fact that it was an unlocked phone. I told them that the last 3 phones I used on their network all unlocked and showed the correct time stamp. I also attached an official answer from HTC.
Who am I supposed to believe?.
HTC answer:
Thank you for contacting HTC about your Touch Pro 2. I understand that your text messages are coming in four hours off. I wish we could be of more assistance, but your carrier stamps the time on those messages. This has happened for years on the Rogers network. There is no setting on your mobile device that controls the time stamp you receive. Some Rogers-branded devices have a hot fix available that accounts for the Alaskan time, but the T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 doesn't have a patch available for correcting this issue. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, but I'm glad I could offer some insight into this issue.
Still confused?!?!?!
Just to add a little more confusion to the topic. My friend and I both bought Tmoblie phones. He a HTC HD2 and me a HTC touchpro 2. I had them unlocked . We put our Rogers sims in our phones and his text time stamps are right on and mine our 4 hours behind. I now believe its a Rogers cell tower problem. IF anyone out there has seen or has a soluiton it would be greatly appreciated...seeing that i get 50 to 100 textes a day, it gets confusing when the times are off.
Thxs
Its the rom it self, I am on virgin in Canada and with certin roms my txts times are messed but with some there not, try a different rom.
After 3 days of searching the forums I found a fix that works with all HTC phones. I used it on 2 HTC phones, HD2 and Touchpro 2 with great success. All you have to is download the small cab file to your computer copy it over to your phone and extract it. Thats it.....
Thxs to Dangerously for the fix. I added the link to the thread which has the cab in it.

The Energy ROM FAQs list this fix:
Wrong SMS Timestamp: If you are receiving text messages (SMS) with the wrong timestamp, what may cause them to be in the wrong order, a solution was posted here.
Hi Guys - i've posted this in the HD7 specific forum too - please let me know if multiple posts is frowned upon and i'll delete it.
Anyway...
I've been searching and searching and I cant find anyone with the same problem as me, on WP7 or HD7. Basically the times are completely wack on the text messages i receive. The could be a few hours behind, or usually entire days behind, and my personal favorite, from the future.
No idea what's going on. Everything seems fine in the settings - been over them 100 times. I've seen it as being a common issue with some older phones, but nothing on the latest ones.
Has anyone had this? Or even better, does anyone know how to fix it? The text messages that I send are stamped correctly, so it's just the ones i receive. It looks like the phone is using the time sent from the carrier, and then applying some wacky timezone to it based off my timezone (which is Auckland, New Zealand).
Help!
I have this exact same problem.
My outgoing texts display the time correctly but incomg is off by something like 5 hours. I've searched the forums and google and haven't found anything myself.
Answer from Microsoft:
Time stamps for Text messages are encoded and sent from the carriers MMSC message system. If the time stamp is showing up wrong, that is because it is being encoded wrong from the carriers network. Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done device side, you'll want to focus your attention on Rogers in this case.
I suppose other phones possibly counter this by just making the receive time the timestamp as well.

I've never had such an extreme case with a five hour time difference, but it does happen with some incoming texts.
I remember I sent my sis a text at 1:43pm and she replied and the timestamp said 1:38pm. So maybe it depends on the person your texting and how their time is set up?
Well that's a pain. I read that reply from Microsoft too, but it's pretty unhelpful. To be honest using the date stamp from the carrier seems like a poor decision, or at least not having the option to chose, as far as the user is concerned the only date / time they care about is the one on their device.
I guess i'll have to wait and see if someone comes up with a way to change this on the phones, I see there is a way to do it on the WP6 phones.
Hi,
It's now for one year i have my HTC Desire (not rooted), and i have a problem with sms.
Two of the contacts i text the most reported me that they recieve my messages twice, sometimes more. One of them has a Nokia N900 and told me sometimes my messages get erased before he could read them (and it only happens with my sms) and the other one has an iphone 4.
So I think it comes from me but can't determine why, or how to stop it.
I'm using Handcent Sms (because of the annoying feature that converts sms longer than 3 or 5 in mms in the stock Messages apk).
For now i'm waiting for HTC to publish their 2.3 ROM for the desire, but it's still very boring.
I searched the web but i couldn't find any answer to my problem, so here i come to ask it to the most qualified forum i know.
Edit : I forgot to mention that for a few weeks my phone decided to randomly reboot without any obvious reason, don't know if it's related or not.
I had a similar problem, but it was my provider. Still occassionally it happens.
I'm french and my provider too. The friend with a nokia has got the same provider but never has the same issue.
But it could be.

Come to think of it, I first noticed the problem on my N72. I would also get duplicate and sometimes triplicate sms from different people. And sometimes they would get from me.
Upgraded to Nokia E65, and it still ocassionally happened.
Since then, I've changed phones to the Desire. Didn't notice it, but the first was stolen after 2 weeks, so I got a new Desire and also changed providers. Haven't noticed anything odd yet.
As long as you don't get charged for the additional incoming/outgoing sms, I wouldn't worry.
Thanks,
I have unlimited sms included in my plan so i do not worry about it (i'm more about mms unwillingly sent). It does not bother me that much, but my friends complain about it a lot, that's why i would like to find a solution.
I'd check with your provider. Give them a few "short" words. See if these things are indeed being sent multiple times. IF they are (3 mms to the same person at the same time), then the issue is in their sms handling system.
At the time I had the issue with one provider, we were getting charged for both incoming and outgoing sms/mms. in otherwords, we were getting ripped off occassionally.
But now incoming is free.
EDIT: I suppose your Sent/recieved notfications are set to ON? Keep an eye on them, and see if you get 2 or 3 of the same notifications.
