Question about tempory root

Hey I was wondering if it would be possible to install clockworkmod recovery through rom manager on a temporary root I used androot on my friends slide and I was thinking if I used rom manager to install clockworkmod then tried to install a rooted rom strieght from rom manager that would give him full root

No it will not work. What happens is rom manager sets it to flash via the stock recovery on reboot, but it can't do that without the engineering bootloader, since the stock one doesn't allow self signed update packages such as clockwork to flash, while the engineering one does. You need to have full root to flash a recovery. And also, in case you didn't already know, the mt3gs is s-on so your recovery resets on reboot anyway, requiring you to flash a recovery every time you go to it. There's your answer haha

No Recovery

Hi guys,
Quite new to posting, was searching where to post this but wasn't sure, my proble is as follows, hope can get some help,
Unlock Desire.
Update 2.2.29.5
I try rooting my desire to put a custom rom on,it seem to ave worked, it says am rooted and I got a superuser icon,
I downloaded Rom manager, try backing up current my rom and when phone restart it with a phone an red triangle, ?
If I power off a press volume down +power an go into recovery it does same thing.?
I try to install Rom from SD card with Rom manager same thing.
I try unrooting, but Dnt seem to work.
Phone still works am able to do everything,
Just don't no wat ave done wrong,
Sorry if this not write place for this, if can help or point me in right direction, would help.

rom manager can't flash recovery. Use unrevoked to flash a permanent recovery.

Thanks for the reply. How do I flash permanent recovery with unrevoked,?
Do I file select .img, if so where can I get .img From.
can you explain or send a link or vid where can view. This method.

You can do a little search before asking, there are a lot of tutorials on how to use unrevoked.

Clockwork mod update problem..

hey guys,
got a strange problem , when i try to update the CWM recovery from 2.5.0.7 to latest 3..why does it always switch back to orginal 2.5.0.7 after reboot
I am trying to update it via the update.zip method.
tried the hboot but kept getting the sig verification failed error...
plz help me guys

Because you fake flash it. To do it permanently you can unroot and use unrevoked or s-off and use fastboot.

You can also do it through the terminal app as well if your not S-Off

Can't go in the Clockworkmod Recovery

I installed the Rom: PyramidMod007 v11 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236126 and now the Superuser v3.0.4 won't work. Then I installed the new Superuser v3.0.5 but now I can't go in the Clockworkmod Recovery and the new Superuser v3.0.5 don't work. So what can I do to come in the Clockworkmod Recovery and to let the Superuser work?
And yes my English isn't the best.

Superuser has nothing to do with clockworkmod, I don't really understand your question?
But if you want clockworkmod then just reflash it

Has anybody got a stock recovery for the Desire HD???

Am hoping to get the ota when its out but I haven't got the stock recovery anywhere (currently running 4ext). Does anyone have a copy I can flash to my Desire HD???
It's a European DHD by the way...

Why are u trying to get stock recovery? you can flash a stock rooted rom, and you will probably get stock recovery or flash stock rom, you will lose root but not S-OFF.

Flash the latest ruu from your computer and root with superoneclick.

There's a game (Kingdoms at War) I've been playing I want to keep... As I've invested months in it and a titanium backup doesn't back up the data properly..
So I'd prefer ota as it keeps your apps etc....

Well i did apply a ruu but I can't booting into stock recovery just take me to a screen with a mobile with a red triangle, and 4ext recovery control says that I cot latest recovery installed. So I don't think I got stock recovery, so there is no way I can get it from my mobile.

The mobile with a red triangle is the stock recovery.

Can't you do anything in the stock recovery? Worthless recovery :thumbdown:

It's only used by ota updates to update the phone. Same with all stock recovery....
You just need to extract it using adb now then you can reflash your own favourite and post the extracted recovery here...

I came across this idea, why don´t u find a RUU that works for u and extract the recovery.img from there? It should work....

Wasn't aware you could do that with an ruu... OK will have a go...

Yep...if you have the .exe file u can do it...there´s a way to do that. If you have the .zip file then just extracted and find the recovery.img file....
