[Q] Is my phone useless now?? help.. - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an HTC incredible by verizon but my service has been cut/suspended and my ex also reported it as "stolen". Is here anything I can do to this phone to make it work again? Or is it basically just a paper weight now?
Thanks.

You can call Verizon and tell them that you recovered the phone, or go to the nearest vzw store and ask them to reactivate the phone

IF (and only if) you are an Authorized owner of the account. If it is in your ex-wife's name ONLY, forget it.

You can still use it as a PDA but just no phone calls.
Sadly I don't think you can do anything to get the phone working again unless you convince your EX to tell Verizon that the phone is no longer stolen.
Anything else is up to the carrier.

try taking it to metropcs or some spot like that..you would have to use metropcs but atleast you would have your droid.
if the phone is reported stolen then the ESN is most likely locked, making it worthless. If it is your ex's phone plan then she would have to report it found to have it unlocked, unless you have access to her account and authorization.
It would be worth it if she locked it
Try calling Verizon and see if they can do anything

Cricket, metropcs, or boost mobile will activate the phone for you, I personally use my incredible on metroPCS with everything working.

Flashing radio not compatible with the device will it brick the phone?

can i remove an associated sprint account from a htc evo 4g.

basically i bought a broken phone cheap and managed to get it working. what i didnt know is the phone belonged to someone who didnt pay there sprint bill so the phone is unusable to me now through sprint unless i can somehow disconnect the account.
I am clueless of how to do this without a sim card and unsure of wether it is even possible. I have already rooted this phone, not sure where to go from there.
any help would be appreciated.
To my understanding someone will have to pay off the balance on the bill. There are less-than-legal methods, but to retain Sprint capabilities the balance must be payed off

Nope, you bought an esn-blocked phone. Nothing you can do except pay the bill, go after the seller and try to get them to pay it, or put it in airplane mode and use wifi and use it as a media device.
You can flash the phone to boost mobile or use it as a voip phone over wifi
Or do some meid/esn magic with another sprint phone that is not blocked....
Im just sayin....

Clone Samsung Juke using HTC Incredible

I'm new, but I have scoured the site and can't find what I'm looking for.
I have a Samsung Juke with a Verizon Wireless plan. I have a spare HTC Incredible that I want to replace the Juke with. Unfortunately when I talked to Verizon they said that if I switch to the Android, I have to purchase the data plan. I'm cheap, and I don't want the data plan as I have WiFi wherever I would need data.
I have already rooted and ROMed the phone using ClockworkMod 5.02, and Stock+.
Is it possible to configure the Incredible to clone the Juke, and just turn Cell data off?
If so, how?

I have mine activated with pageplus. Same network (prepaid coverage) and way cheaper
If I understand it correctly, you should be able to switch phones without getting a data plan, as long as you don't buy a subsidized phone (2 yr contract). Go to a store and tell them u just wanna switch phones, and don't have any need for data. This may have changed with their new data rules. If they FORCE you to use a data plan to get mobile access on a phone you own, that's a scam and you should switch to something like what funone46, pageplus
I appreciate the thought to switch to another carrier/plan, however I am situated with a 2 year contract that is up in October this year. Then I'll switch the Incredible to Boost and all will be well. In the meantime, I'd like to swap the Incredible in for the Juke, but I need to know if I can situate the Incredible to receive the calls and texts that would normally hit the Juke.
I know I can do this with the Incredible in place of a Samsung Incognito on Boost, but can I do this with the Incredible in place of a Samsung Juke on Verizon?

It is probably possible, but im not very familiar with it. You would have to use qpst to grab the esn and settings from the juke, and then use qpst to put the esn and settings on the incredible. I think i know how to do it in theory, but have never actually done so and am not positive if it would even work.
As I said before, I'm new. So I'm not familiar with QPST. I've already downloaded the installation files, but the screen shots look a bit complicated and I wanted to consult before I ventured that far. If I had someone giving me key assistance, I'm game to try it out. As I've said before, the Incredible is an extra phone, so I don't care about screwing it up.
I would be very grateful if you could give me a step by step, even in theory, but if you aren't comfortable, is there someone that you recommend?

[Q] Removing Note II from Sprint

Hey guys I have a quick question,
I have a Sprint Note II that I want to activate on my line but I'm having a little issue. Back story: I acquired it because my sister failed to pay Sprint so they canceled her plan and she needed cash so she gave me her Note II in exchange for the money she needed since she no longer has Sprint. So the phone works fine, but they won't remove it from her account because she owes a balance of over $500. She's called in and even though the phone isn't financed through Sprint they won't release the SN/MEID from her account so needless to say, it cannot be added to my line. I'm wondering if there's a manner to get it off her account or change out the SN/MEID to make it usable? I've been running an HTC Evo Design for the last 2 years and really need to upgrade my phone but again, I gave my sister money so I no longer have the cash. I cannot for obvious reasons of her being my sister and requiring money tell her to give me back my money.
I originally thought they wouldn't remove it because when I called it wasn't her on the line. Even after being able to fully verify her account. I was speaking to the rep and he said that there is a manner but obviously couldn't tell me what it was so I'm turning to the trusty XDA forums.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(even if it's not a program or something, a manner of speaking with them or getting them to take it off her account without having to pay the balance)
Thank you,
Tag
The only way it "could" have been done is if you were able to reactivate the account for a short duration then call in and Swap the phone out with an older device. It would free up the phone and you could let the acct go out again.

Thanks man, Hoping I can do something, attempted again and they won't activate the account. lol.
Are you on Sprint too?
Odds are you're hosed if so. They always permanently brick the MEID of devices on accounts that are cancelled due to lack of payment. You can flash the device to another carrier and use it however.

Yeah pretty much. Or you can do the gsm mod and use it anywhere but the US.
Hmmm, I might flash it and put it on TMobile then..... Wonder who'd accept it...
I have my bad esn flashed to cricket no problems. Anywhere you flash it you will lose 4g, but mine works flawlessly with cricket. I have far greater reception abd 3g speeds from my previous carrier, boost mobile (which is sprint).

You can't flash it to T-Mobile, they're GSM. You can only flash it to another compatible CDMA carrier. Ofcourse there are other, shall we say clandestine ways to get it on Sprint, but obviously taboo to discuss on here.

[Q] HELP! craigslist att one vx with a bad esn/imei

I'm in great need for my phone to work. I broke my s4 and bought a used HTC one vs off of craigslist & put my straight talk card in it & it worked great for a day but is now saying the device is blocked from network use..I called straight talk & they say it's a lost or stolen phone..I tried to contact the people I got it from but can not..is there a way to clean this esn or imei or whatever is holding me back? It's a HTC one cd for at&t..help please.
Sorry changing or manipulating an imei is literally a federal offense and not worth the attention you may get by doing it. It's not like removing a mattress tag trust me there are greater implications here. Give up now
