Does it work for anyone? Page just refreshes but the debug options never open...
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Works perfectly fine for me
It doesn't open the debug options. You type about:debug then go into the browser settings.
This is to worry :s if they did disable debugging than we can't freely tether we'll have to use tmos native tether app for 15 dollars FOL lol glad I haven't gotten the update and will decline if this is true

He's talking about the about:debug command in the browser. Not USB debugging in settings.

That's what I'm saying though, it worked prior to the OTA, now it won't on my phone. Just refreshes, no options added in settings.

My debugging still works fine after OTA.
Strange. Tried again, just plain won't work on my phone anymore. So bizarre.
Everything works fine on my G2 after OTA "manual" update. Debugging and everything, havn't found anything not working yet. cross fingers.
What is it supposed to do? I'm post-OTA (via OTA), and when I type in "about:debug" in the browser, it does nothing, and the browser settings don't seem any different than before.
Brad
mines still work.
Just to be sure we are all on the same page...
I just opened my browser and hit menu=>more and at the bottom of that list was "settings". Clicking on settings takes me to a page that ends with the "Advanced settings" group which has "website settings" and "reset to default". This is the stock setup.
I then typed "about:debug" in the browser's URL field and hit the go button and the text disappeared and nothing happened to the browser window. But, now when I click "menu => more" and scroll down there are 2 new items on that menu below "settings" to dump various debug info. If I then click on "Settings" I see a new section after "Advanced Settings" called "Debug" which has 9 new configuration settings.
Hopefully that's the way everyone's phones work.
For reference, I applied the OTA manually...
I've never messed with About:debug until after I got the OTA, and it worked fine for me

Hello. For some reason I can't add contacts anymore. When I press "add contact " is comes up with a blank screen with "save" at the bottom but no form to add the contact. It also does it if I try to add a number from the dialer as a contact. Thanks for your help.

Did you either freeze or uninstall AT&T address book? You need this to add contacts.
yes, that was it. however when I try to restore it, it doesnt seem to be working it just says "restoring app + data" and the status circle just goes around and around. been doing this like 10 mins now.
Any suggestions?

All I had to do to get TiBu working was change the app processing mode to auto, indirect. Then I just disabled the USB debugging warning (it says recent versions of su don't need USB debugging enabled).

Every time I open my address book (or at least the first time after a reboot) I get this AT&T address book verifying subscriber status popup that takes a while to complete. I have no interest in ever using that service so how can I disable the check and just stop using it at all?
I'm guessing that the answer might be root and remove bloatware but I'm hoping there's a way to just turn it off without rooting. Don't worry I'll be rooting sooner than later but for now I'd like to just get rid of that annoying delay.
I havent got my phone yet, should have it within the next 3 hours, but have you looked through the settings, and opened up the AT&T address book app and checked the settings within that app itself?
Yeah. Not seeing any settings for it or actually any AT&T Address Book App at all.
Yeah i finally got mine a few hours ago, but i dont see any options to disable it either.
I'm guessing this will be one of those annoyances that only root can salve.
Not sure about the s3 but on skyrocket I checked out the programs.. scrolled down to sync and disabled..
Rebooted and never got the error again.

Where exactly did you "check out the programs.. scroll down to sync and disable"?
I don't see anything about AT&T address book anywhere.
I have the same issue. Every so often when I go into my phonebook I have to wait for it to check the AT&T Address Book. So now there is a huge lag to access my contacts.
Why do carriers think they should be mobile phone designers? I wish they'd just leave the designing to the people who are good at it.
Over 10 years of buying my own phones out of contract for a reason. I've only had the phone for a few hours. I wonder what other lame surprises await....
Ok, I seemed to have fixed it. Not sure which action it was because I was just doing everything I could to make it stop.
First thing I did was to turn off AT&T phonebook in my online account. Log into www.attwireless.com. Under MyAT&T tab, mouse over "Wireless" and select "Usage & Recent Activity". Scroll down to "Members Shared Usage" and click on "view details of the number you're working on. Scroll down to "Minute Detail" and right under that is "Phonebook" with the option to turn it on or off.
At the same time I was doing a lot of flailing around in the the phone. I was Settings page in Contacts and I deleted all the AT&T BS contacts it auto inserted into the phone.
I rebooted and it stopped trying to access that AT&T phonebook. Hope this helps.
1. system setting
2. app manager
3. click on the phone book
4. force stop
Now it will stop and the icon will be removed from the app list. You can do this for all of the apps that will not uninstall till we get root.

In step 3 when you say "the phone book" do you mean the app called Contacts that has an icon that looks like a phone book? When I disable that app my phone dialer icon disappeared making it so I couldn't dial out. Had to re-enable it.
Otherwise, I dont have an app named Phone Book.

No.
My AT&T and YP.
I was trying to disable the AT&T Address Book as well. I found out you disable AT&T Messages. Works like a charm.

I can confirm this method mentioned by Phoenyx worked. For me at least. No more AT&T Addressbook confirmation dialog when I go to Contacts. :good:

Yes, I just tried this as well instead of what I posted earlier and it also worked. I didn't know there was a phonebook option in my online AT&T account.

Thanks!

Hi I just got my phone the same thing happened. I let it load (the second time it happened the first time I hit cancel). I got a page that was basically an ad for att's backup service, I scolled down to the bottom and clicked on close (or whatever the button did say). Now when I start contacts no more "checking subscriber status etc".
I have not rebooted yet but will and if it comes back I'll post, if it doesn't then at least on my Galaxy SIII it was a one time event.
Every maybe 10 second of browsing my internet keeps closing. Then when I open it again it reverts back to my google homepage ? Any ideas ?

Which browser / ROM ? Try disabling flash.
Try something to see if it helps you with your problem.
Go to Settings and tap the Wi-Fi, go to the upper right corner where the 3 vertical dots are located and tap on them
select Advanced, and you are in the Advanced Wi-Fi tab. Find the setting by the name Auto-disconnect and if it is checked, uncheck it. It seems that if this setting is checked, for some reason unknown to me, it keeps disconnecting frequently. As for the matter of your web browser that takes you each time to google or whatever page it is taking you it is because that particular page is set as Homepage by default or by you accidentally. Try to find the settings in whatever browser it is you are using ang change the Homepage to the one of your liking. I wish i could help you more but at the moment i can't think of anything else...:fingers-crossed:
I havent rooted me phone yet, but thanks ill try that now

i created a Samsung account out of curiosity about some of the features offered. One of them is remote control services where you can track your S3 from any browser, or lock your phone remotely. In the set-up instructions it says once you've created a Samsung account you can then enable remote control in the settings menu:
To use the SamsungDive service, the Remote Controls of the mobile must be enabled. Select "Settings > Personal > Security" from the main menu.
Select "Find my mobile > Remote Controls".
But no such option is available in my settings menu.
anyone have sucess with this?

Are you rooted?
If so, access the /system/csc/ and then open features.xml.
It has sections such as "Messaging", "Camera", etc. Look for "Settings" section and look for these lines:
Code:
<CscFeature_Setting_DisableMenuFindMyMobile>false</CscFeature_Setting_DisableMenuFindMyMobile>
<CscFeature_Settings_FindMyMobile>true</CscFeature_Settings_FindMyMobile>
If you do not see those lines, add them and save it.
Reboot your phone and it should then be in the settings menu.
Enjoy!

That featured.xml is the stock default (disabled). Switching the true and false on the two enables the setting.

The feature will not work regardless, the website doesn't register my device as having Remote controls enabled.
Did you get this to work? My Remote Controls option is greyed out also, plus the Remote Controls option at the top of the samsungdive.com is greyed out and can't be selected? I've logged in to both my samsung account and gmail account as requested. Anyone know why this is happening? or is it just that you can't use this function with the S3?

The SGH-T999 is not supported by Samsung Dive yet, so you can enable the options on the phone but the website won't see your phone as enabled..
I have the same problem, I have enabled the remote control now and do not appear on the page of samsung dive. I have galaxy s3 i747 at&t.
How can I do??
Solution!
Hi. I had the same problem. Remote Controls toggle switch being greyed-out. The solution was to create a new samsung account that is the same as the google account on that phone. I hope this helps you!

Question about websites asking for my location. We have two Note 10+ phones and anytime a website asks for the location the pop-up appears asking for the ok but the phone never allows either option to be picked. I always have to use the back button to clear the pop-up off the screen. We've had both Note 10+'s for months and it's never allowed us to select an option. How do I make the thing work? Using Chrome as the browser and everything is fully updated. I checked the feature in the default Samsung browser and it works fine, but I want to issue Chrome. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Open Chrome and go to settings and look for "site settings" . Once opened look for "location". Open "location" and change your settings accordingly.

Mine does same but I went to settings and tried to change the permissions but it only allows Ask every time, or deny. Only choices. Very odd

For me the issue was I needed to give permission for Chrome itself.
So I went to the phone's settings then apps then chrome then allowed location when in use

I think thats Android not allowing you to select a choice because an 'overlay' is blocking your view.

Got it to work. Went into Settings and search for "on top" and open the Special Access menu and select Appear on top and turn off all the apps.
