The fix contains a libhtc_ril.so... I don't think it will work on SGS.

I know the update.zip files don't work, but my question was if it is possible for someone who knows how to make update.zip files for sgs to do this for the gps fix, all that there has to be done is change /system/etc/gps.conf, but normal users (no root) dont have excess to this file.. so it would be nice to have an update.zip that will change the gps file..

okay.. solved it for myself using the program called fasterfix. needs root, but anyway its pretty easy, just select the server you want, save, reboot and get yourself a pretty good working GPS..
http://www.accuratefiles.com/fileinfo/gs8833721h1i0
first time i ran the program i had an FC, but second time it worked normally.
i just XXJPO btw...

Here we go:
Gps fix with epic 4g system
Gps fix with gps.conf set to europe
Apply with CW or 2e recovery (rename to update.zip)
Note:
Epic 4g fix contain gps.conf set to north america so if you want to use both fix apply epic first and then gps.conf .

Editing gps.conf doesn't really *fix* anything. You may get a lock a bit faster, but that's it.

Am just using GPS test v1.2.0 by chartcross Ltd for getting a fast GPS fix, works good enough for me.
No configs need to be edited, used it in Holland, belgium and spain, works right away.

Official Froyo takes green pictures

Have updated to Pinkie 0.1 Rom and flashed new radio,
before doing this the new 720p enabled radio (5.08) would cause a light blur coming from sun light and tv screens etc..... which was a pain but could be ignored.
Now for some reason after flashing new rom and new radio, every picture i take with flash enabled comes out green
Any help welcome!

I know this could be fixed on other roms by using an odexed version of the camera app. in system/app you want to have htccamera.apk and htccamera.odex
I am using the same rom so will test this for you and report in just a min
EDIT: Just tried odexed camera app and it didnt work :-( still getting green pictures :-(
It must be something else in the system/app folder as changing it to an odexed folder in another rom fixed the green tint issue......
I noticed the same thing. Would it have to do something with the new radio? I'm on 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20.
Will now test another 2.09 rom and see if it has the same issue

I can confirm that its not the radio and that it only happens on some roms not all
After some more research I think the problem may be with the build.prop
Just doing some more tests now then will report

ok testing shows that it is build.prop that is causing the green pictures. now working on a build.prop that will work for us all :-D

Ok managed to fix it with the attached build.prop, just flash in recovery :-D
Great! I'm going to test it now. Will report the result soon!
Edit: GREAT! That did the trick! Thanks a LOT!

I dont know EXACTLY what the prob was but I can give a rough idea and explanation.
Ok the build.prop that DIDNT work told our desires that it was a passion device with passion fingerprint
my new one tells our desires that its a desire device with passion fingerprint
So somewhere round the line the camera must of been looking at the build.prop and seeing the device as beeing a passion and not a htc desire thus causing issues.
Atleast its working now!!
Forgive my ignorence but what is the difference bitween desire and passion ?
I have a HTC Desire French Orange (I think it is not a "passion") I used Official rooted Froyo update with market fixed.
I had the green issue, your file worked well now taking pictures works well.
Do I need fixed market ? Can I have problems with "fixed market" if my phone does not require it ?
thank you

Basically passion means nexus one and bravo means htc desire. They are just codenames for the devices so basically it thought it was a nexus one instead of a desire lol
As for market you have no need to worry about it, its not a big major change or anything like that and yes you do want it because basically this build.prop will make all apps show up in the market where as your old build.prop could very well of been hiding some from you.
Enjoy!
Ok, I understand, like I couldn't see Google Earth a few days ago...

It should be usable on SGS with some minor modifications like replacing the kernel (most likely). I'm experimenting with it as we speak (no promises)

Ok, time to install linux on my PC
BTW, can you get you hands on the GPS files? It's a just a hunch, because there isn't nothing known yet about the GPS that's on the tab, but maybe it's the same one as on the Galaxy S.
Files that are interesting are:
From the directory system/etc:
gpsconf.etc and jupiter.xml
From the directory system/lib
libgps.so (and maybe other files containing the word gps, maybe libsecgps.so
From the directory system/bin/gpsd
glgps_samsungJupiter and the *.cer files

Don't know but I'm definitely going to try it. Case_ extracted the same files from the new Captivate fw rom, where they are working on a fix, and it did also work for the galaxy. (Of course this is a froyo rom, but anyway..)
I will report back.
Wow that would be great! but i don't think it is a software problem! but a driver/hardware related issue!
But that's just my point of view Great work anyways!
I´d be very grateful if you could upload the whole factoryfs (extracted)

I don't know if you followed the latest discussion about the Captivate FW, but the weird thing is that the upperlimit of a maximum of 10 locked satellites was gone and the weird constraints was gone that there wasn't a lock possible on sats with a signal noise ratio < 20 . They did accomplished that only with a change of drivers.
But if all will be fixed in the end, is something we have to wait for.

[FIX] JP6 internet browser fix!!

hey guys ..here you are the web browser fix(less lag and more more speed) for Froyo JP6
now internet is faster than before....
unzip this and copy ''libwebcore.so'' to system/lib...- set the permissions of the file to rw.....DONE!
EDIT: ONLY FOR ROOT PHONES
it is from a Galaxy Tab rom.
unfortunately the browser will still use more memory than it should, but at least it will be fast.
it doesn't work with JPA!
thanks, going to try it right now or latest tomorrow morning

Hey
It didn't work for me on JPA either but I noticed my original libwebcore.so had the permissions set as "-rwxrwxr-x" ... I know I give chmod "644" to set the persmission as "-rw-r--r--" but what number would I send chmod to try setting the permissions mentioned above ("-rwxrwxr-x") and I'll give that a try.
Thank you!

fm radio [ SOLVED ]

hello everybody.
would appreciate anybody's help here to get fm radio working in mokee rom. rom is cm7 based and I've tried all I can. if you know me then you'll know I'm not a dev but have limited knowledge of some work. my limits are based on winzipping and post rom modding via esfile etc etc (I know we frown on winzippers lol) however this rom is not a winzip rom and has been ported from the blade i think? it needed some issues fixing and I have nearly fixed all issues but fm radio has no sound, the app is not force closing or anything and you can set stations etc but just no sound. is there anyway of taking whatever is needed eg.files and/or whatever from a working cm7 rom and copying them into mokee via winzip method ? if so what are all the files etc etc that would be needed. I know its a long shot but maybe successful? I am not the porter of the rom,I just posted/modded and fixed a little stuff with permission to do so.
really grateful of any help advice.
regards slymobi.

does mokee make use of dsp? if so: do you have the following files in there?:
Code:
/system/soundfx/libcyanogen-dsp.so
/system/soundfx/libreverbwrapper.so
/system/soundfx/libvisualizer.so
No other idea atm
---EDIT---
there's also that file
Code:
/system/bin/radiooptions
but not sure if that has anything to do with fmradio
mokee has dsp,im on standard cm7 at the moment so cant check fully. i did see the radio option earlier i think...... just need to know all the files and paths that make fmradio on cm7 then compare in mokee. so far i found fm.apk lol.

if mokee has dsp those soundfx files should probably be necessary, too.
Don't know if an alternative would be interesting if it can't be done. "Spirit FM" for example - should work on the Willy with CM7 according to this thread (but I haven't read too much about it yet)

checked and mokee got them files,it looks like everything is working apart from there is no sound!!! all other sounds are working through headphones though so that rules out socket or headphone problem.
spirit fm is internet radio I believe. I don't know of any alternative but will welcome any non internet based ones.
I don't use radio so I'm not bothered but I want to fix this then I can update the rom and delete the issues as I've fixed the others now (well just waiting on dev permission to include alternative to 1 issue, which can be bypassed with another if not but not as pretty!!!)

SpiritFM isn't an internet stream radio.
