Hey guys,
Just getting acquainted with my new Desire.
Looking on the HTC site, there is an official Telstra ROM update available for me (in Australia).
Just wondering if anyone knows how to obtain information on the changes HTC have made from one ROM to another...
http://www.htc.com/au/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=312&cat=2&dl_id=1048
... is the updated ROM.
and...
http://www.htc.com/au/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=312&cat=2&dl_id=1027
... is the version im running at the moment.
is this an Android 2.2 (Froyo) update?
any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks dudes.
Maybe I've been overlooking but I've never seen change logs on the HTC website.
As I look at the release date it should be Froyo 2.2 because 2.1 is pretty old now.
If you really want to be sure you can check the version by yourself by opening the RUU update executable installer you've downloaded. Monitor/scan it while for a rom.zip file which will be inside a temp folder and extract that, then extract a small user image file with 'unyaffs' to see the 'build.prop' file which includes information about the build etc..

Hey guys,
I finally got around to upgrading to the latest Official Telstra ROM.
I ended up performing the upgrade OTA (Over The Air), which was an absolute breeze. I didn’t have to do any backups prior to the upgrade, and it maintained all my settings/apps/data with no loss… of anything..
It ended up being the Froyo update (popup on device explained, though nothing mentioned on HTC site), and also included an updated version of sense.
So OTA updates for official ROMs are the way to go.
Cheers.

uploading it now

Even a newer firmware? Nice! Checking the diffs now!
Edit: Just 6 Days newer.. SHouldn't be much changed..
To be fair it's probably just the addition of T-Mobile bookmarks, etc but I thought I'd put it up just in case there's a hidden gem.
Hello Sir,
I tried PM but for some reason I could not send it.
I have HTC Hero with dev watermarked software
HBOOT-1.75.2000
Radio 6.35.04.04
I downloaded T-mobile ROM you posted and I am wondering if I can just try to push the system folder to my device directly or there is something else I need to do as well ? Can I get step-by-step instructions please ?
Also if I put this release is there a chance that my device will get locked to T-Mobile network ?
Many thanx in advance
Hi there,
I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your questions. I followed instructions I was given to pull the system folders from the phones. What I posted wasn't actually a ROM that you can flash but rather a dump of the folder that contains the HTC applications, etc. This can then be used by ROM cooks to add the Sense UI to their custom ROMS.
I can't imagine that you'd be able to push the system folder across as the system folder is read-only on non-rooted devices. If you did somehow manage to push it across I doubt it would solve your problem but it also wouldn't lock your phone to T-Mobile, that goes much deeper than the system folder (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Cheers,
Phil

It seems to be a older build, 110 vs 405
also once installing im having issues using flashrec to installed a patched recovery image
How does It differ to a normal 2.73 Rom?

No it isn't - the 2.73 is the build number, the rest just indicates operator and region.

Hi, whats the radio version in this ROM?
Thanks
Interesting that this update arrives at the same time t-mobile are rolling out Android 1.6 OTA to USA G1 owners ...
Could this update be Sense UI on top of Android 1.6?
Its not, its a 1.5 system
I can confirm issues with flashrec.
Installing custom recovery from adb shell is not working either..
download now also available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4525584

as i suspected it might, sounds like it ships a kernel that fixes the one-click-root hole, and it replaces the recovery rom image.
Anyone know how to extract the rom images from that windows executable?
i want to mess about a bit and install only parts of it from linux.
Searching the forums the closest i can find is a suggestion of using winrar, but i had someone try that on their windows box and it doesnt work.
or as a fall back, does anyone know if someones managed to do a nandroid backup of a freshly upgraded g2. (after rooting it the hard way presumably)
Paul @ Modaco twittered that he'd root and repack the T-Mobile UK update on Thursday (i.e. tomorrow).
Regards,
Dave
I have extracted the Rom Images
Run the RUU then leave it running
then Start-> Run -> %TEMP%
then look through the folders untill you find one with adb in (search) this has a rom.zip file.
So the radio rom is 63.18.55.06FU_6.35.07.08.
But isn't this version supposed to freeze T-Mobile UK HSDPA?!

'supposed' is an odd word to use.
I don't know how many people have reported the freezing on HSDPA, however I have not had any.
I only installed the new radio earlier today, but I'm not having eny problems with HSDPA, I even downloaded a 200mb file and whatched the whole process just to see if it hung.
It didnt.
I do not know for sure whether the signal is better, but it's definately not worse.
I'll post again tomorrow when I've tested out the signal and internet a bit more.
hi, when i try to flash this rom i've got this message "erreur 131: erreur client id"????
somebody can help me???
thank you guys;-)
i think that means it is not meant for your device...do you have a t-mobile branded uk hero?

If you've already applied the T-Mobile UK update via the RUU, you're probably out of luck, as it seems it replaces your recovery image with one that can't currently be replaced.

hi guy's
thanks for your effort here, i have 2 questions:
1-i would like to install new HTC GB RUU, but the problem is arabic language is not supported this time from HTC, when i contact htc they give me some advices to download some app from market (which can help me in some app like browser, sms,) but Facebook and email service cant be replaced..?? so my question is there any way to include arabic language to the last GB upgrade..??
2- in case i can't add arabic to HTC update, can someone advice me which ROM can be simmler to HTC ROM (GB) i mean classic ROM without tweaks, additional app, i just want something basic...
my device is not rooted..
Before you rush off and update to gingerbread with the new RUU you should do some research. The new update comes with an updated bootloader, meaning it cannot yet be rooted or S-OFF'd. There have been many complaints about phones being soft-bricked after the update also (stuck in HTC screen, phone not booting, no recovery, not able to use fastboot as they are S-ON [you'll learn about what all that means in due time] ), as as of yet, there was no way to fix them.
If you want something similar to the new GB, there I believe is a ROM which is based on the actual official GB that has been released, for sense 2.1, I would try RCMix, it gave decent performance and had very little or no bugs that I can remember.
Last night I managed to de-brand my HTC Wildfire from Vodafone to HTC Generic firmware downloaded from shipped-roms.
The procedure seems to be a success, but I noticed something really weird - my Vodafone ES rom was version 2.24, while the HTC one is version 2.22. I checked for an update from the phone after that but no updates were available.
Is this the latest official version? (I know of some cases where companies change the version number just because they added their own apps/logos in the phone)
The procedure I followed was:
Install HTC Sync
Create a Gold Card
Downloaded the latest WWE rom I found on shipped-roms (RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed.exe)
Ran the installer and waited for it to finish
Thanks in advance for any replies.
P.S. using gold card doesn't root my phone right? (I don't want it to be rooted at this point, so I thought I'd ask)
It's normal. All different carrier branded ROM's have their own version numbers, and the WWE ROM has the lowest build number among these (i.e . 2.22), Most probably, since it was the first one to be released.
And no, you are not rooted, so don't worry about it.

Oh pretty neat I guess.
Any recommendations on which ROM should I keep?
In the past I was always advised to use stock firmware on smartphones, but not sure about the case with modern ones.
Since you don't want to have root at this point of time, you will have to stick with the Stock ROM. If it works fine for your needs, I would say go for it, but, if you feel the need to experiment / mod, then definitely give ROMs like Cyanogenmod 7 and other Gingerbread a try. Or, if so inclined, you can go for Sense based ROMs as well, which look and feel like the Stock ROM, but with various tweaks, improvements, features and optimizations.
Over the past few days, I have been working on a new version of Seven-Eighter based off of the source code that Jaxbot kindly provided. I have made numerous improvements to the original version.
One of those improvements is instead of embedding the links to the update files as strings in the actual program, my version of Seven-Eighter downloads a config file from the internet which contains the links to the update files. In this manner, you, the user, do not have to download a new version of the program every time Microsoft releases a new update for Windows Phone 7.x. All I have to do on my end when a new update comes out is to just update the config file once I find links for the new update.
Some more improvements include improved error handling and some better instruction to help you with the update process. If you haven't yet, you should really check it out. I am curious as to what people think of my version compared to the original.
You can find the link to download my version of Seven-Eighter on my blog here: http://bit.ly/ZOzAz9
Now as such, I am always looking to improve. I welcome any and all suggestions. If you want to throw something my way to help with development you are welcome to do so, but not required (your satisfaction works just as well, check my signature for instructions).
Nice work!

To be honest, I didn't test my version of Seven-Eighter with a custom rom image (only stock factory rom image). What build is it currently running?
I have the exact same question.
I pretty much bricked by bootlaoder on my AT&T HD7S using the initial version of SevenEighter from jaxbot and now can't even use the gold card method to downgrade since I need it unlocked.
My RGB bootloader screen only shows one line of text at the top in the red and nothing in the white space where it should say USB HOST/Loader Mode.
But at least I had a 7.5 Zune backup that I can restore to, the only thing being that it doesn't restore my bootloader.
So, question is, can I use your software to upgrade to a custom unlocked 7.8?
Thank you!
I was finally able to get my Focus S upgraded to 7.8. Got tired of waiting. I had a problem with the application and had to close it. when I relaunched, it continues where it left off. Nice! I left the update.log just in case.
Now I just need to unlock it for side loading. Anyone recommend ways that still work? Thanks.
Will

anybody updated at&t titan 2 to 7.8?
Yes. The seveneighter app worked perfectly. I just wish I could install the version of htc connection setup I had on my hd2 so I could change my apn settings for my carrier instead of being locked out of my mms.
