Does Google Goggles work for anyone on the DHD?
I have installed it but when I try and use it, it takes a picture, says it is "Analyzing" and then comes up with "Connection problem (error code 503)" every time.
FWIW I am in the UK on Orange
MOD EDIT: Moved to General

Works perfectly here. Did you try thru wifi?

works for me, im in the uk and on tmobile
Works perfectly no errors Vodafone UK WiFi and 3g
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Works ok on O2 UK.
I have the same problem.. also on Orange. Works fine over Wifi though.
Runs perfectly here -> T-mobile, The Netherlands
I have exactly the same issue, I'm on Orange too. Works just fine on WIFI. Grrrrr. *shakes fist at Orange*
Orange blocks
Damn!
You are right - it works with WiFi turned on but not just using GPRS.
Orange must be blocking it for some reason.
I will have to try and find out why and if it can be "unblocked".
Wish me luck!!

Mike
seems to be an issue with the ports which we need to 'manually' open up.. some people have reported similar issues they've had whilst using google goggles on some cellular networks rather than wifi
shame really.. i have no idea how to fix this.. i am probably the worst person when it comes to issues such as this - i don't know my ports from my pots
anyways.. i hope someone can figure this out soon.. google goggles is a major app.. shame if we can't use it whilst out and about to make our friends go 'ooh'! and 'ahh'! and finally jump aboard the android ship from iphone!
p.s. this is my 1st post here i believe - so please be gentle with me lol.. also nice to meet you all
I have the same problem. wifi works. Orange GPRS doesn't.
Someone at Orange help, please.
Well just spent 30 mins on the phone to CS with little success. Not really their fault since they do not understand deep technical issues.
The rep has promised to get someone from Tech to ring me back - but there is a huge queue apparently.

Orange Data Support
Well, true to her word, I did get a call from 2nd line support.
We had a long discussion about the problem. She lso saw the problem herself by using her phone with an O2 and then an Orange SIM. It worked fine on O2 and failed on Orange!
Problem now passed on to the data support team who will look at it and (hopefully) et back to me within 72 hours.
Will keep you all posted as and when.
Regards
Mike
Had another call from Orange 2nd level support today.
Apparently they won't look at the problem because it involves a third-party application! Well of course it does - I told them it does!
They suggest that I contact Google and ask them to look at the problem - what the h**; are they going to do. It isn't THEIR problem since the application works fine on most (all?) other network and on WiFi.
Anyone here have any clout with either Orange or Google care to take this further cos I don't really know where to go next.
Regards
Mike
I'm just another Orange customer but I submitted an online query with Orange to get this looked at yesterday, pointing out that customers on other networks don't seem to have any issues and that the app works over wireless.
Fingers crossed...
I have just updated Google Goggles and seems to work fine to me using UK Orange 3G. Can anybody else confirm?
Has anyone noticed that Google Goggles likes to eat the battery as well, I've noticed its taken a good 10% of my battery constantly even when I force stop it. :s
Started working for me on Orange 3G too. Looks like it's fixed
Yup, seems to be fixed in the latest update! Well done Google! Shame I had only just logged a call with Orange moaning that it must be a bug with their network
works perfectly for me using both wifi and 3G

I have been sent a link from O2 Data Support for downloading the new XDA2s ROM upgrade, which apparently will fix the Bluetooth problems.
The link is...
http://www.sourceo2.com/O2_Developers/Devices/O2_Xda_II/XdaIIs_launchROM.htm
Haven't done anything with it yet, but thought you guys might like to know...

Guy
Hmm I wonder if I can use this update on my O2 Xda2s.
I got it in Malasyia.
Noel
I installed it on my UK XDA 2s, I will report back later.
In the PDF it's saying that this version is only for devices sold by O² UK or O² Ireland... Not sure if I should give it a go on my version..
Noel
I think I might wait and see what others say about this before I install it myself. So many that have it already say it is great but then you hear others say it has caused problems.
That post is the launch rom, not an upgrade. LMAO It is intended for people who attempt to flash the XDA IIs with a different vendors rom and screw it up.
Mike
Nope, its not, click the link. O2 are obviously just too lazy to create a new page for a new rom!
Nigel
HAHA you are correct!!! LMAO oh well.
Hi..have installed the update..and have encountered several problems...was wondering if anyone could help me.
I hate the fact that the clock has disappeared from the top right so whe u are using applications its no longer visible. Is there any way of bring it back?
Also now when you click the o2 at the top it dosn't give the active connections anymore. Therefore whats the quickest way to disconnect the gprs? and is there any way of bringing that back to how it used to be?
I have also had to reset my phone more often that I had to before.
Was wondering if anyone had encountered the same problems and how to resolve them.
Thanks so much...
Bit the bullet and upgraded last night, wifi still works and as I use Corporate mode I don't get any issues with 02 active, icons or clocks. All seems normal, so far!
Have to agree with Dave. I finally bit the bullet and installed the update last night. Don't like the new O2 active and put the clock straight back with the registry key.
Other than the missing clock and poor O2 Active software which I never use anyway no real problems. Tom Tom still works fine with my Bluetooth GPS receiver. WIFI still works fine with WPA security and everything locked down on the access point.
Still receive SMS notification and its nice that you're not limited to 70 char when using ' in sms text messages now!
All ok.
har5ha:
Just get the old O2 active back. To to this, head to the xda-dev FTP site, find the old O2 XDA IIs extended rom, pull it, find the file install.ARM.CAB (O2 active)
Sync/backup yr stuff then hard reset the XDA IIs, and let it do its stuff. When leave it to install the extended rom, but be ready to soft reset it when you get asked the 'corporate/personal' question (you'll have to watch the screen since there is a timeout). Once it reboots, copy install.ARM.CAB to the machine, and execute it. It will soft reset yr device at the end.
I use 2 things from O2 active, the battery plugin and the O2 icon to kill connections. Shame billy did not think to include a disconnect dialogue as well really (he put on in for vpn).
There might be a way to install old over new, dunno. I tried and it locks loads of files (even if you prevent it from loading).
Nigel
thanks Nigel...I ended up installing gb soft for the disconnect button.
So its ok...still getting loads of crashing. I think am going to reinstall it and then use corporate mode..hopefully it will crash less!
can I get an update on xda iis rom update
Hi all, I'm still new to this whole thing but reading and researching all I can. Don't have an xda iis as of yet, but on the high streets waiting list. I like the phone and in one way, can't wait, but don't want problems when I get it, especially at the price. Can anyone on o2 that has purchased their phone from o2 let me know how you are getting on...problems...ect, before and after the update.? To be honest, I'm a bit afraid to bite the bullet and get one right now due to what I'm hearing...especially since I'm not very computer smart. I do understand that it depends a lot on the manufacturer of the phone but if I had problems like I'm hearing about it would really do my head in...(no patience). Thanks
Well I love my phone to bits...had issues with the update but now that I have hard reset it and put it corporate mode its not freezing anymore.
But you have to remember its a pocket pc...like a pc..will need to be reset every so often...I was resetting mine of average once a day. It just takes a minute.
There are some negative points..but the positive outweighs the negative I think. My old pda was palm os (clie) and this is windows which is really good! As well as the fact that it has a phone built in too!
Hi all.
Can you please post some more feedback on this rom.
How is the BT stability?
Range?
Crackling noise?
License Expired troubbles?
I know its Build 3500, but maybe something else in this rom makes a difference.
How about the problem with sound dissapering when you answer a call.
Any troubbles here? This is really a pain in the (_!_)
Running the New Rom for a couple of days now and it seems much better than the launch Rom, The O2 active stuff is just as pants as usual so remove that and the "Connections" exe from Windows\startup.
Best thing is that it's stopped the annoying bug of the GPRS settings being screwed up when you enable/disable Wi-Fi.
Recommend it myself

PDA2K Upgrade
Hi, Can this rom replace the i mate rom on the 2K.& If so will it then be sim locked to O2? as I want to use an O2 pay as you go, & T-mobile sim
many thanks in advance............
The problem is one of the most annoying ones you can have: it appears only from time to time and you don't know when and even when it does you don't notice.
Simply my phone is not accessible for others even it shows full range and so on. The message "...the phone is switched off...". This problem occurs in as far as I remember 3 releases of ROMS (full, vanillas, etc). The radio ROM was also changed. I don't remember having such issue in early WM6 or in original 2005.
Since it's not related directly to any of the releases I post it as a new thread.
Now I have 3 options:
1. Downgrade to 2005
2. Throw the unit through the window, wait until end of contract and buy an iPhone
3. Try to fight with T-Mobile UK - which is not really an option since I just recovered from fighting with Orange for over a month
Does any of you experienced such problem?
Any known issues with downgrading to 2005 like ISPL required before flashing original ROM?
Any suggestions?

Well, I got the answer - couldn't wait and did the downgrade using original ROM. If anyone interested it went without problems. No ISPL needed. Connected, fired-up the exe file and worked OK.
I'll see how about the availability problem.
Ok, seems that it's only me having the conversation ;o)
I apologize for the thread location - it doesn't seem to be related strictly to WM6 anymore as I...
...installed WM5 and did some tests:
(I have voice mail switched off)
- Call waiting enabled = no calls allowed when GPRS active
- Call waiting disabled = no calls when transferring data (large file) but received when no transfer
- Used W660i SonyEricsson handset - could receive calls regardless of GPRS activity
Rang T-Mobile tech support where they told me that this is network feature that when internet connection is active no calls are allowed and since my voicemail is turned off all callers get message that my phone is switched off. In the light of GPRS specification and my tests this is a bull****.
Now I'm asking anyone on UK T-Mobile Web'n'Walk and who wants to help - please do such test. Just try to call your number from different phone when opening a web-page.
This is pretty important to me - I need internet on the move and don't want to get rid of my MDA.
Thanks in advance!
Hi there,
I'm on T-Mobile UK too and I ran some tests myself and found that you are absolutely correct. When you transfer data you cannot receive phone calls.
I've got an O2 device with me I can do some more tests on and I'll also try and borrow my Wife's Samsung and test that too. I'll post my findings here.
Cheers
Alex
ok, i've just tested this on an O2 3G device and there was no problem, next to try a none windows mobile t-mobile phone.
seems this problem has been around for while and on other networks.
http://www.freenfo.net/mobile/archive/index-t-64022.html
ok, final test and conclusion.
I tested the same o2 phone as above but in a NON 3g area (i.e. gprs only) and found the exact same issue.
conclusion: this seems to affect all types of phone and multiple networks but only when using gprs NOT 3g.
I'm suprised we havent heard more about this problem.
cheers
Alex
Thank you Alex very much for your help.
I did some research on the topic last night and found the same info as guys in the thread your linked. It must be that T-Mobile UK operates in NOM-2, which allows to suspend GPRS session only when no data is transferred. When packets are transmitted the device doesn't 'see' incoming calls as it's 'busy' with dealing with the packets. NOM-1 is 'able' to encapsulate information about incoming call into one of the packets and the device is notified about - so it can react, suspend the transmission and pick up the call.
The fact is that our MDA/Artemis uses Class B of GPRS which doesn't allow simultaneous CDA/GPRS at the same time. Even if it can suspend active data transfer it is the network that has to support that feature.
What I must notice is that I had lot more problems wiht this when I was using WM6. It seems that there were some packets transmitted by the system or something. I had my mail set to check servers every 15 mins at the beginning but lately ony once an hour or two. Other soft that could transmit anything was Weather module from SPB or Touch. Now when I'm on WM5 and was checking the issue during loading a page I was unavailable but as soon as a page was completely loaded my phone was accessible back.
My surprise is that if the 'issue' seems to be quite normal and there is nothing to do about it why I couldn't find any info about it here. Doesn't it affect anyone of our community?
I may be wrong with the WM6 expirience but still. If WM6 works fine in that respect it must have happened that someone missed a call when browsing the net.
i hadnt noticed to be honest

Did you try ringing your phone when it was loading a long page or downloading a file?
TBH I think I've noticed it just as much on WM6 as I did (or didn't) on WM5, I think I put these odd voice mails turning up down to weird WM issues! Now I know the truth though.
Obv. there isn't a lot we can do about this and I'm not prepared to turn off my Windows Live Mail or my direct push. I think we just have to wait until our contracts are up for renewal and get over to a 3G device - I'm liking the look of the Touch Cruise myself, or the Touch Dual if I want that keyboard back and by the time my contract is up I think they should be on T-Mob UK.
does the same thing happen in Edge areas or as that rolls out will the problem disappear?
I'm not sure about how EDGE works but the problem affects GPRS rather than 3G due to the fact that GPRS and the incoming call are submitted alongside each other and 3G is seperate. I don't think t-mob uk have edge running yet so I can't test, perhpas some else can test for us.
Bro.. My first 3rd party ROM is the Touch 3.0.. and yes.. my connnection did go off once a while (no bars as well).. that was kinda irritating. I have to go to connection manager and toggle my data connection or something like that, before my phone will get the GSM signal.
And yea.. the original WM5 and WM6 have no such issues.. I wonder if this is because of the new radio version..
Hi Guys,
I have been following this forum for years, but have never had the need to post til now.
Coming from a G1, I've just made the transition to a glorious Desire on a Orange UK 'Panther' tariff, from Phones4u.
One of the highlights of the tariff is fee access to their Orange Maps app (supposively pre installed), which I'm told is a semi-decent sat-nav software. But I found no reference to it, or any other pre-installed Orange crap on my phone. After spending over 30 mins on the phone with an strong indian accented Orange Rep named 'Ricky' (suprisingly better informed then the usual monkeys*), it seems I was sold a generic Desire phone from Phone4u with none of Orange's pre-installed crap....YESSS!!!
Here is the issue, it seems you cannot get access to the Orange Maps app from a non-orange branded phone. More specifically you can not access h**p://orangeworld.co.uk which has links to download it from a generic phone. Even though i'm paying for the service as part of tariff.... frekkin Toasters!!!**
In my determination to stick it to the man, I have found what may be a solution, but do not know how to apply it to the Desire. The following thread with a non-obvious title: "How to install Orange Maps on non Orange Firmware" (google it, can't hyperlink it, as I'm a new poster), has a solution for a Samsung phone and I'm wondering if I could get it to work on the desire:
The fix.
1) Enter Admin setting menu *#5239870*#
...........
5) goto number 7, UAgent
should look something like this:
SAMSUNG-S8000/S8000
XEII2 SHP/VPP/R5
Jasmine/1.0
Nextreaming
SMM-MMS/1.2.0
.......
change the second line to this:
POIG1 SHP/VPP/R5
so it now looks like this
SAMSUNG-S8000/S8000
POIG1 SHP/VPP/R5
Jasmine/1.0
Nextreaming
SMM-MMS/1.2.0
.....
save and exit.

what is a uAgent and how do I change it on the Android OS? Will it even fix my issue?
Whilst the maps is a feature I want, I'm not desperate enough to cancel my contract => goto new contract with Orange phone with Orange ROM. So It'd be great if someone could help.
Many Thanks,
Digital_Apoc
Update: Ok so it seems I can't access orangeworld.co.uk via WiFi on my phone but CAN over 3g if I switch off the WiFi??? Still going the the maps page gives me "Sorry byt Orange Maps will not work on your handset...." though the desire is on the support list...

Text from Orange...
"Welcome to Orange and your Panther plan. Get started and setup your inclusive services by clicking h*tp://orangeworld.co.uk/r/panther"... lol
I had that installed for around a day before I flashed my desire with the generic Rom to get rid of all the orange cr4p. If I remember it looked just like google maps which is free unless someone can tell me differently.
I tried to set it up, as it was free, on my Orange branded handset. I kept getting an error about not being able to set it up correctly; this is quite common on this phone it seems. The app itself was installed but the maps would not download/configure correctly.
I rang tech support for another issue and they told me that the phone is listed as not compatible with Orange maps, god knows why it comes installed on their ROM. So until they either update the program (or more likely enabled a flag saying the Desire can use Orange maps) we probably won't be able to download it. That said you might be able to get the apk from somewhere? May just be tech support were lying/drunk
I flashed my handset with a generic ROM to get rid of all the Orange garbage anyway and now I can't even re-install the app itself using the link from Orangeworld (You can text 'Orange Maps' to 247).
I seem to only be able to access the orangeworld portal using a gprs/edge connection, it doesn't like umts it seems. Maybe someone with it stilll installed could try setting it up over a 2g data connection?
Sorry I can't be of more help, good luck =D
I used it when I first got my phone but it was pretty rubbish to say the least, google maps navigation is a much better product.
With Google maps navigation available, what's the point in sticking with Orange Maps providing you don't download more than your FUP permits.
I hate what Orange have done to this phone. The salesman on the phone even lied to me saying that they were using a generic ROM.
Are you sure you can't visit h**p://orangeworld.co.uk on a generic rom? Make sure you go via the Orange APN and not through a wireless network as that is not allowed.
I'm a bit confused by this.
My Orange Desire (I'm on panther) once charged first time, I tried to connected straight to the net and the phone seeked the settings and worked without any intervention. In fact I think it did it right at the beginning when gmail wanted to synch.
A few hours later I debranded, and upon reboot.. the same thing, was all automatic.

why do you need to go to orangeworld anyway? there's nothing of any value there
Orange Maps
You don't say but I assume yo're in the UK? FWIW I tried the Orange App and it wasn't a patch on the updated Google Maps with Navigation. It was sloooow and poor definition. So IMHO, forget it!
The commets about only connecting to Orange World through the 3G I can also confirm, but I have no idea why they'd want to do that...?
I agree use google maps navigation, coming from using TomTom on WinMo I prefer Google Nav, only thing I miss is the speed camera updates and custom voices, the google one is crap
Hi Guys,
My phone has developed a pretty cripling problem since updating to Mango. I waited for the official update from my carrier without any forced tricks.
Basically my data connection is randomly dropping out. My phone will still display G/E/3G/H or whatever but there is no network connectivity. Nothing works and if i try a web page i just get connection/dns errors.
The only way to solve this is a soft-reset. Even flight mode on-off doesn't always seem to work.
I thought it was a bug on my network since Orange and T-Mobile share and that it may have had a problem switching between but i've manually selected my home network (Orange) and it's still happening.
So basically i'm now in a position where i have to manually check my data connection is actually working and if not, soft reset my phone. I can't be doing this, it's ridiculous having to re-set my phone numerous times a day!
Like i say this problem has only arrisen since Mango. I've read on the net a few others with this issue but no fix.
Are any of you guys experiencing something similar? Or know what I could try?
Thanks :/
I had that issue with WiFi for a couple of days after updating but it fixed itself. You might want to ask Orange for a replacement device if it stays like that.
I'm experiencing the exact same issue with my HD7 since a couple of days now. But I assume it's a hardware failure. My device is causing all different kinds of trouble like rebooting randomly several times a day, refusing to launch apps and so on. I'm going to send it in for repair.

It's odd i didn't notice it for a week after updating but then when i was out and about it dropped. Then every day since it's done the same thing.
So frustrating, it doesn't appear to be a localised network issue as it happened when i travelled around 100 miles away too!
Might give orange a call then and see what they say. Just seems a bit of a co0incidence that it's only happened after the Mango update.
Been on the phone to orange - They've sent me some network settings message, tbh i can't see it doing anything but they said if it carries on they'll just replace the handset.
Bit annoying really since other than this it's flawless.
I have the same problem, just restored back to pre-mango. no point being on Mango if i can't consume any data.
Spoke to Orange couple of days ago and "they said not our problem, call Samsung".
a joke.

Has restoring back fixed the data problem?
My sister also has an Omnia 7 on Orange and she has the same problem. So that's at least 3 cases Orange have been made aware of, I can only assume there are more.
I don't see any point retunring my phone as i assume when i update the replacement to Mango the same problem will arise.
Also do you have insurance with Orange? I was offered a replacement as i have the Orange care thing.
For reference,
I started a thread on the MS Answers site and a few others on Orange UK are
having the same problem.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/wp7-wppics/data-connection-problem-since-mango-update/1544a63f-7bf0-43fa-837c-7e89f10b86ab?page=1&tm=1319027651966#footer
If anyone here is suffering could they add their details to the list and mark it as "im having this problem too" to bring it to the attention of MS please?
Thanks!
I have a simfree omnia7 with an o2 UK SIM in it and I also have data connection problems since the mango update. It must be the phone coz it works fine on my desire HD with the same sim in it. Mite be time to get myself a titan instead me thinks.
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I just resolved this problem for my HTC Trophy!!!!
The cause seems to be that the APN settings where erased/blanked after the update to Mango.
I have a Vodafone branded HTC Trophy and my provider is T-mobile. After I supplied the APN settings from T-mobile, my data connection keeps on working!
Try it, maybe this helps!
APN settings can be edited through "Settings" - "Mobile Network (or Cellular)" - "edit apn" (scroll down!)
I have a similar problem on the Omnia7 with T-Mobile.
Sometimes my connection just drops, completely, no bars, no internet nothing. It'll come back after a few minutes though. I also have seen some similar problems to you with internet, displaying 3G+ but not actually loading anything.
I also seem to roam a lot now on T-Mobile Orange, even at home and when roaming I can't use the net at all.
Having said all this, I didn't force Mango but I was on the Developer Beta which (I think) means it just automatically upgraded to a generic Mango rom? I'm pretty sure T-Mobile have been slow with their updates, I've had mango since the first week release.
Hi there. I own an unlocked, rooted t 989 Samsung Galaxy SII which I bought in the US. I recently moved to the Netherlands, and got a new simcard with Vodafone. The problem: I can't get my data to work.
I have tried (almost) everything, so prepare for a read. Here's the list:
- Sim card is fine, I tried it in a old phone and 3G pops up instantly
- Rebooted, pulled battery, turned mobile connections on/off, handpicked network, etc, etc, all the basics.
- Got the APN settings from Vodafone. Tried them manually, resetted them, automatically, turned it on, turned it off.
- Going online through Wifi works.
- Under settings-Status it reads under Mobile Network State: Disconnected. But I know that the phone detects the network correctly. It can distinguish between UMTS and GPRS here.
- So there seems to be no trouble with the phone being incompatible with the network. I read online that other people had NO trouble using their T989 in Europe.
- I tried inserting my old American pre paid T mobile sim card and turn roaming on. No luck.
- A lot of other people with the same problem tried to link it to Easy Battery Saver. I tried updating, uninstalling and going into its settings to find out what it could be, but nothing.
The last thing I can still try is to factory reset, unroot and try to get the phone to its most original state and see what it does. But before I triple wipe all my contacts, pictures, apps, etc, I want to make sure I did absolutely everything to try and fix this beforehand. Being a noob here, I can't post any links but I trust you I tried.
The people at Vodafone are of no help whatsoever. I hope you geniuses could help me any further.
[Edit] And sorry for posting this in General Chat. If a mod could move my question to Q&A I'd be most thankful..!
I am having the exact same damn problem! it started with being unable to send a simple text message yet having data. now it says it is searching forever

Try flashing a different radio/modem then an american one?
@decko5 Nice to see I'm not the only one, but that doesn't help us yet .
@doug36 Besides the fact that I'm running a stock ROM that should be compatible with no issues, I'm not sure how I'd do that. I can flash a separate part of the kernel? That sounds like a very tricky thing to do.

@doug36 Besides the fact that I'm running a stock ROM that should be compatible with no issues, I'm not sure how I'd do that. I can flash a separate part of the kernel? That sounds like a very tricky thing to do.

It's actually pretty easy. You can flash most radios via ClockworkMod Recovery. I couldn't find any threads with a list of Galaxy S-II radios here on XDA, but I found one over at RootzWiki for you. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/2725-radio-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-radios-updatezip-updated-20-aug-2011/
Just find the corresponding one to your geographical location and carrier (Google is your friend) and follow the steps.
Good luck and hope it helps!
(p.s. you should definitely look to see which radio you currently have so that you can download a backup of it before you go flashing radios.)
Thanks for that very helpful post! I've raped and butchered Google, but I'm still having trouble finding out which modem I should download. There seem to be so many and the post on RootzWiki gives no guidance to which is which. Any wisdom on this? I'm in the Netherlands, so Western Europe, on a Vodafone network.
By the way. I fully wiped my phone and installed Team Kang's Juggernaut 5.. No luck, same problem. What I found really, really weird is that it was instantly in Dutch. (Which is ok, I speak Dutch) But I don't remember ever selecting a language. How does it know? Besides, I'd rather have it in English .
What I did find out is that I'm still using a old firmware, UVKID, instead of UVKL1. So I'm restoring back to my previous ROM and trying to update. I'll see what happens. If that doesn't work, I'm going to restore my phone to stockest of the unrooted stocks and try and update.
If that doesn't work, I'll have no option but to send the phone to T-mobile.
I'll try the modem update as soon as I understand what I'm doing . But it does sound promising. Thank you so much for your help, it's greatly appreciated!
Hi guys,
I've updated my firmware to UVKL1, still no luck. Anybody who can tell me which radio I should try on this Vodafone network in the Netherlands?
I am from India and had faced this similer issue with many of my android phones specially with captivate and infuse.......Here what i always did to connect data network.
Just uncheck the use packet data network box in mobile network settings and try to move out from that area (say u are in ur office and going back home) and check the data in settings.
This thing has worked for me always, I don't knw if its related to the OS or to the network provider but this has helped.
Have u tried any other network sim card on ur phone ?
An update for other people that might be looking for a solution in the future. It turns out to be a clear Vodafone problem. I tried a different simcard from a different network (both T-mobile Netherlands and KPN), and they instantly worked without any trouble.
I went back to a different Vodafone store in Amsterdam, and they were much more helpful than the first one. The sales guy told me he had seen the same problem with AT&T iPhones on the Vodafone network.
I called Vodafone, and they have been very nice to me. But they haven't found a solution yet and are looking into it. They see me registering to the network, granting me access, but still my data doesn't work. They've also told me that they will let me cancel my contract for no cost if they don't find a solution.
So problem remains unsolved, but at least there's some light at the end of the tunnel. I was close to buying a new 500 dollar phone... Americans going to Europe: Beware with getting a Vodafone simcard. Sorry to the Vodafone guys, but as for now, that's the status.
So to give closure to this issue (I always hate it when people fix their problem without telling the interwebs..)
IT WORKS!
After an initial terrible experience at the Vodafone counter, the headquarter tech guys have really been great to me. So it is indeed a Vodafone problem. American phones always give them a headache. They don't know what causes the problem exactly, but they do have a fix. It turns out that when logging on to the data network, American phones (AT&T iPhones, my T989 SGsII, and some other Android devices) sent some gibberish along that make the Vodafone server go cuckoo.
The solution was, miraculously, to sign me up (for free!) to the WiFi hotspot service that Vodafone provides, and then logging on to a different APN, being: office.vodafone.nl in my case.
Hope this helps anyone who's having similar issues.
T-989 network solution SOLVED ?

ok the issue here is that some of the t989 are vodafone and some are USA network , now the other solution is that you flash with command prompt which there is a link to that tool im going to upload from the link i got it from . its also a clockrecoverymod , but this 1 asks you for deleting data user on the device and also resets the network includes USA/overseas though if your not customed roms
or any hacked roms , after flashing this device your basically removing any unwanted apps and cache that are hidden during network searching will be fixed bugs , put the simcard in slot but make sure that is a 3G/4G accounts, than its going to reboot the device automatically , it should be searching for service and also will be a circle with a slash on it where the service bar usually is , just wait about 1/2 hour to an hour maximum time let it do its thing , ok whats happening now to the phone is that is thinking with android network with usa and overseas market apps comparing both carriers network also gets the proper address for the custom rom or original kernel, froyo either 1 will get the correct network address and / VPN / and also will be adding both T-mobile/AT&T choose T-mobile dont go for AT&T cause it will research network configuration plus the phone its not unlocked for both its just a network passby to get correct WPN/VPN/clockworkrecoverymod .
Where is an fix?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
@#11 That reads like gibberish to me
@#12 I think I posted a fairly extensive report on how I fixed this...?
