I've been using this app on the G1 and the Cliq and it works on the G2. Seems to need tweaking but it definately increased the volume for me. I recall someone complaining about the low volume on the G2 so I thought to let peoples know it works...its in the market...v.3.6 by Meltus
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I used to use it on my G1 too. I just installed it on my G2. However, I can not detect any changes, with any setting. Neither the in call volume or speaker sound any louder or better. The changes on the G1 were not just noticeable, but drastic, so I don't think I'm missing it.
I am using the PowerAmp App. I recoomend it if you feel like the G2 speaker isnt enuff. It wont solve all your sound issues but it works well when playing mp3's with or without your headset

+2 i agree
Between mixzing and power amp I prefer power amp for the sound. Hopefully meltus comes out with an updated volume app soon.

Make sure you are getting Volume+ and not Volume Control +
Do you have to be rooted for Volume+ to work?
i tried to use that on my transformer and it never worked.

Hang on a second...
Are you talking about "Volume+ Free" or "Volume++"? Two different apps by 2 different devs.
anyone found one that works?
This one works for me.
Audio Manager also works for me and was the first application I used. I found that system volume was at level 2 out of 7 and it was almost as if the system volume setting is hidden within ICS actual settings.
However, even after setting it to 7/7; it still wasn't loud enough. This is why I installed Volume+ as above.

cheers.. ill give them a go
Will using one of these apps to boost the volume eventually damage the speakers? Or why is installing an app for this necessary?
The default maximum volume on the speakers is ridiculously low.
I tried Volume+ Free. This free version limits the boost to +4 instead of the max +7, but +4 seems to make a huge difference already. And it seems to work even though the installer says it only works on Android 2.3.
Do we need root for this volume apps?

Thanks for this.
I've had my GN for about 3 hours now and the ring tone volume was the very first thing I tried out, just to see just how loud it was. It was pretty low. I promptly purchased this app and it has brought up the volume to a more than acceptable level. The phone is actually loud now.
I currently have it set to 9 in volume+. I can't imagine going all the way up to 15 as it's loud enough. What did you raise yours to?
Great App! Worth the money.
Ditto on Volume+...so much louder!
I had to get the paid version because it seemed like the free one didn't make any noticeable effect in the ringtone volume for me on my GNexus. I've currently got it set at 9 on Volume+ and that finally seems to have made it loud enough for me (but I still have to crank the phone's volume almost to the max to have it loud enough to hear in noisy areas).
Doesn't do anything for me. Tried the paid version turned all the way up +15, makes no difference in volume...

+1. No difference.
Ive noticed when you crank it past 9 it doesn't work, maybe a safety feature to ensure your speaker doesn't blow.. try it on 8 and 9

Speaker volume is one of the things I am nervous about on the Nexus, I do use my phone as a alarm clock and speakerphone during conference calls. I've seen quite a few reviews where the reviewer thought the speaker was too quiet. At least it's comforting to know the volume can be boosted to an acceptable level for some people using software. I wonder if the VZW version will offer any improvements in this area.

It's a quirky little App. You have to keep trying it. There were a couple times where it stopped working for me, then when I came back later on it was working again.
Here's what to do, open up a song in your music player so you have something playing in the background. Then open up Volume+ & enable speaker modifications. Now try changing the volume levels. Go from like 3 to 8, if it's working you will notice a change instantly. If it doesn't work, try rebooting and/or un/re-installing and trying again. As others have said, I can set the volume all the way up to 10 maybe even 11, but any higher and nothing will happen. So don't over do it and hit 15 cause you won't notice any difference.
Honestly, without this app this phone would have been close to deal break territory for me.
Ok so I switched from S2 to Gnexus. And alot of things are lacking when it comes to hardware but the most significant is speaker volume. Is there a way to tweak or mod the speaker volume for notification and incoming call ringtones. Perhaps an app? Thanks.
volume+ in the market or visit the devs site for the free full version.
The free version from market doesn't work but the one on the devs site does.
Once installed change your volume to +9 or +10 and enjoy the speaker the way it should have come.

Is Google going to release a fix, or is it a hardware limitation of the speaker?
I read Volume+ does increase the volume but then the sound quality isn't that great.

Equalizer app is a superb option free in the market and doubles the speaker volume. Just max out all bands.

it works fine for me, no distortions whatsoever.
so volume+ works great for me. i have it at +8 and sometimes up to +10 when i'm in the car, and i can hear the notifications just fine.
but the in call volume, even on the speaker, is still really low to the point where if i'm on the highway i can't hear someone even if they're on speaker unless i hold it to my ears.
probably going to get a bluetooth speaker for my car soon, but until then i want to just boost it.
i know volume+ has this boost incall volume by editing the build.prop but i have no idea what to do, and obviously don't want to screw anything up. so has anyone done that, or does anyone have another way of boosting the in call volume for both speakerphone and regular speaker.
Extremely interested in this myself.
I tried doing it with volume+ but it only ended up making it worse.
If anyone has done it successfully, please post how.

What did you set yours to? The choices are 0 - 100.
bumping this to hopefully get an answer.
bumping this again because i'd really love to actually be able to hear people when i'm not in a quiet room.
Did you try volume+ beta? It is a lot better than the one on the market. You can find it in the themes and apps section.

Not for me. I don't have any problems with it.
in call volume too low how to increase ??
+1
I find it's too low as well. Even on highest volume I've frequently got trouble hearing what ppl are saying... Especially in noisy environments such as on public transport! I'm on InsertCoin 6.1.
I have not yet found an app to boost the volume.
I must use a headset to talk if I want to hear anyone while in a public or noisy place.

i have to have my in call volume on 50% or its too loud, 100% is just a bit quieter than loud speaker.

Maybe that's because of your use of DSP Manager. My ear piece is very weak. It's like listening through a train engineer's wool sock soaked in kerosene and hog fat.

There is no app available that can boost the in-call volume.
I believe the only way that an in-call volume modification can be achieved is by making the necessary changes in the source and building your own kernel. I seem to remember this was done on the Nexus One a while back.
I have my in call volume set at 25% while not in crowded places. While clubbing i use cca 50%, anything more hurts me xD
BTW, thats on stock, 1.29, not rooted, no DSP
My HOX is loud enaugh.
But I faced the same issue when I had the Sensation. Two solutions existed:
1) Non-Rooted, use Volume+, Volume Boost, Louder Volume Hack or Equalizer
2) Rooted, use this guide.

Unfortunately, the apps you listed do not work for increasing the in call volume, apart from Louder Volume Hack but it's very outdated and won't work on the One X (I made it for the original T-Mobile G1 and Google removed the files that it changed when they released the Nexus One).
As it stands, there's no app available that can boost the in call volume, not to my knowledge anyway.

is there any solution for this?
having the same problem too
I have the exact same problem, and it appeared after I rooted and started flashing ROMs, wasn't the case with the stock ROM.
Currently using LeeDroid
Me too...
Thank god i've found more people with this "feature". I've noticed that after flashing LeeDroid 6.4.0. Never noticed that before rooting.
Yeah call volume does suck

I can't remember weather it was like this before I flashed this rom.
WTF? My in call volume is way too loud. I have to keep the one X 2-3 cm away from my ear sometimes
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I think this is more popular issue than we think. I got that problem too on ARHD 7.1.0, hope its only software problem not hardware.
Sometimes sound incall is very good, clear, loud, but mostly its sux, especially when there is more sounds around (streets etc).
Nope..its too loud for me..so I have kept it on half..I am on ARHD 7.1 ..

My calls are too loud most of the tone, even with the volumes all the way down. I just bought an in-line volume controller to adjust my volumes, hopefully that will bring it down more than before. I think that supercurio is inventing controls for the i9100. It would be never if we can at least make a sign that shows that we can mod our audio to do the same thing if not any. I know we have yamaha hardware in our phones, and voodoo sound is produced yamaha, although I know voodoo found aren't dofound in our phones. We probably do have a chance to dev something. Let me know if anything.

Try volume+ from the market, or adjusting the user accessibility setting in the main menu.
Volume + does not show up on my search results for some reason. second, do you know of an accessibility app too download?

My bad, yes it does show up, but it really doesn't work for me, I have root and try to adjust the headset but no progress and the the speaker does work and that is all. In not sure how to adjust the Bluetooth and if possible I'd like too know how to use it. Does anyone have a suggestion?
