hi guys,
i have a HTC Desire, running android 2.2.
my problem is, i'm receiving duplicates, and sometimes triplicates of text messages.
it doesn't happen all of the time, and it doesn't happen to all my contacts - it seems random but has been happening quite regularly for the past 3 weeks.
it's an annoying issue and i'm just wondering if anybody else was experiencing the same thing and had a fix?
thanks in advance,
ronan
Hi Ronan
I have experienced this before, are you rooted and running a custom Rom?

hi toyface, thanks for getting back to me.
i'm not extremely techy - i haven't done anything to modify my phone since i got it from my service providor - it's as it was the day i bought it from the store.
i hope that's what you meant.
r.
Oh right well in that case I'm a bit stumped, I had only experienced it on one certain ROM, never had much of a problem when mine was normal.
It could be a network problem of its random, does it happen when you send a lot of texts to numerous people at the same time?

no problem toyface, thanks for your help!
it happens when i send a message to somebody, and they reply. i get the reply twice or three times.
i'll keep an eye on it and contact my service providor if it doesn't clear up.
just, out of interest, what's the benefit of 'rooting' your phone?
I've had tremedous fun rooting and applying different ROMs, I love it ha ha! It's also got quite a few benefits, depending on which ROM you run you'll notice performance improvements and better battery life.
I rooted my 2.2 Desire a while back and I'm now running LeeDroid 2.2e, I've applied a very nice theme and I'm reaping the benefits.
Swing by the Development forum and have a look at the Desire index thread to read up more Feel free to PM me if you like

Hi All,
I have the Modaco 2.2 rom installed, however when someone txt's me, it is always 4 hours behind the actual time. Ive tested this by texting myself @ say 8pm, and the received message will be time stamped at 4pm when its mere seconds apart...does anyone have any ideas on what the issue could be?
Thanks!
actually i have a similar prob too but in my case the person replying to me always seems to do it before my time...even though it me who had messaged first...BUT I HAVE THE OFFICIAL ROM..NOT STOCK!
Might be a bug (not sure if its HTC and/or android as I cant test) but do both of you happen to live in an area where you have to manually set the Daylight saving time or use some "odd" timezone indication set by your provider ?
Yes i have to set it according to the srvice provider...but i can change it as well..any solutions??
Just letting you guys know, you're not alone. I get this issue, too. Happened both on stock 1.xxx and now mcr 2.2
Was it just those roms that had that kinda behavior, and when you switched it was fine again? Im wondering if its juts a wacky rom or something wrong w. the phones hardware.
It's a network issue. At least for me it was.
I applied the fix from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559731
and it worked for me! I was 4 hours behind too. It's great having my texts actually thread correctly.
Hope it works for you!
ok, i've had it... my wife is using a htc touch pro 2 and she says that she is having problems with sending and recieving emails, texts and connection failures. she's running on winmo 6.5 with sense UI and i'm wondering if this might be the problem. i've only seen this happen to her a couple of times, but i work two jobs and just aren't around enough to see it. does anyone have any suggestions on alleviating this problem? i'm wondering what it could be, we've tried soft resets, hard resets, resetting the email links... everything i can think of short of flashing to a different Rom or UI... can anyone please help with this? as you can tell, she won't let up, so to make my life a little easier... i need help. LOL...
What I would do is leave the stock rom behind you. If you flash a decent custom rom, then I think that most of your problems will be solved.
You can pm me if you are interested and I will guide you true the proces
which Rom would you suggest? i was thinkking maybe mightyrom, but if there is one out there that would do better i'm all ears! plus i've never flashed a tp2 before, so any help is appreciated...
My Galaxy S II has been having some issues. I got it about a week ago and I am pretty satisfied with it except for a couple of things:
First, the phone randomly resets sometimes when i am browsing the web, watching a video, or listening to music.
Secondly, MMS don't send sometimes and the status on the message stays as sending for hours.
Third, Apps don't download sometimes even when I have full 4g or wifi.
Also, web pages sometimes don't load even when i have full wifi or 4g.
If anyone has any tips that could help me solve these issues, it would be greatly appreciated. Also if anybody has any other issues, feel free to post them.
Root it. Flash custom ROM. Problems solved.

+100 to that
Rooting and flashing a custom rom is cute and all but you shouldn't have these problems, get an exchange.

the bit about 4G/WiFi is a Tmo software but, you can find the solution in the INDEX
the MMS that is just a software flaw, not sending again after it failed due reception issues or whatever, use another SMS/MMS software
random resets can happen regardless of ROM, when some Apps doesn't behave or runs out of memory, it's most noticeable with some Bugged Flash websites/videos
Hell everyone,
I recently rooted my phone and installed LiquidSmooth on my AT&T Samsung S3. About three days into using the ROM, I notice some connection problem between my phone and AT&T's network. The problem I experienced was I wouldn't receive texts or calls from other people even though the phone is connected to the network. When I do receive the texts, they come all at once at the same exact moment. Which means my notification ringtone going off like crazy.
This problem usually occurs at night around 9-12PM. I also experienced the same exact problem when I first started using CM10, the stable build. The one thing I also noticed after installing both ROM's is there's no voicemail number. I had to manually add a voicemail number, which is my own number, right?
I decided to unroot my phone and run Samsung's newly released JB update, which totally blows besides the battery life. As of right now with the unrooted phone and Sammy's updates, everything is running fine.
Thanks very much, I appreciate any help I get from you guys. And, I do want to apologize in advance if this question had already been asked. I tried searching, but couldn't find anything on the subject. If you guys need anymore details, please do not hesitate to ask. I will try my best to provide as much detail as possible. Thanks once again.
Ive looked everywhere for a solution but cant seem to find one. My N7, currently running CM11, will randomly reboot for seemingly no reason. Sometimes i can go a day or two and nothing but just when i get comfortable, BLAM! Im not particularly worried just frustrated. I dont know what to do and I have read that its sort of common whether stock or custom(ROM). Im debating on trying to revert to stock because i cant seem to remember having this problem before CM, but i really cant be sure. Id rather not revert to stock if im just gonna have this issue but if it seems to work for others then id just go stock. Anyway I guess im saying that I need some advice here on what others experienced or think. Has reverting to stock worked for anyone else? Any other advice/insight would be greatly appreaciated!
-Thanks
The fix is coming, when Google releases Android 4.4.3, by the end of the month.. Sit tight

My stock N7 reboots randomly from time to time. It might go a week or more then reboot twice in one day. No apparent pattern to it.

I am experiencing precisely the same issue described in the OP. So I am also pretty interested in knowing if there's a fix.
@BSnapp, how can you be so sure of that upcoming fix? Is there a known issue with 4.4.2 for the N7 that was resolved for the next version? Any sources worth mentioning?
Thanks.
It's all over the Android news sites that Google is including a fix for the random reboot, plus several other fixes.. Just Google Android 4.4.3 update, and you will find the answers you seek...
