I have a dinc running skyraider 3.3final and each time i reboot, i get the setup when i unlock
i tried skyraider, virtuous, and cyanogenmod and they all took me to setup after reboot and uninstalled all apps
~~~~please help~~~~
this happens even when you don't wipe?
I haven't tried not wiping
but everytime i do a full install and wipe everything, i still get the problem when i reboot. I've been going all day and everything has been working fine, i just don't want to reboot because i won't have anything
any suggestions
I had this happen to me also not too long ago, never tracked down what was causing it. No matter what ROM i flashed, or nandroid restored, I would end up with the setup screen and a multitude of FC's.
I ended up just returning to stock with the official RUU, and re-rooting. Haven't had an issue since. Make sure you back EVERYTHING up though.
So I am having a really strange problem recently with my phone, was wondering if I should unroot and return it or if it is something I am doing wrong. Basically what it boils down to is if I power my phone off from the menu or pull the battery, etc. upon powering back up it just Hangs on the HTC Evo 4G white splash screen indefinitely. I have let it sit as long as 15 mins without booting before, having seen this before in the past I know not to panic now but I just reboot into Recovery and wipe my cache and dalvik cache every time I reboot and my phone reboots back into sense in no time at all.
I know this is not normal, is there something I can do to troubleshoot this problem or is this is a sign of hardware failure?
I've never seen that before. Interesting. What rom are you currently using? Do you have an unusually large amount of apps installed? The first thing I would do, is make a nandroid backup of your current setup, and then do a full wipe and flash a format all.zip, then reflash a different rom. Or just simply restore a nandroid of a known good setup, and see if the problem persists. If it stops, I'd say it was something specific to the rom/kernel/setup that you were running before. If it continues happening on a clean install of a different rom, then I'd probably unroot, restore to stock, and then see if the problem continues. If it does, take it to Sprint. If it stops, and everything is fine, re root it and start over. That's just what I would do, but I've never been presented with an issue such as that.
I appreciate the advice, I'm running Sprint Lovers right now been running it for a few months now, I don't have an unusual amount of apps installed but I did notice that the problem seemed to start occuring when I changed the Kernel. I will try your advice and see if that fixes the problem. I've been wanting an excuse to try the new Gingersense rom anyways.
If it started happening right after you swapped out the kernel, that could be the culprit. If you want to try the gingersense rom, I'll all for it, and will tell ya that they ran super incredibly smooth for a factory rom. However, if you don't feel like changing roms just yet, maybe try a different kernel. I'd be suspect of that, if the problem started shortly after changing to a different kernel. I say try out a gingersense rom, you shouldn't be disappointed (unless your phone still hangs at the splash screen upon reboot, lol).
Hi,
I installed Gingervillain 2.8 about a week ago and everything ran perfect.
Than for some reason(?) I rebooted my Desire and it got stuck on the Gingervillain boot screen. I than wiped the cache and the dalvikcache some times and even once reinstalled the rom (without wiping the data).
Eventually the phone booted and I could login, everything seemed to be ok.
But after a bout 5 minutes playing (mail, tweedeck, gallery...)the phone frooze. Rebooted, wiped caches, same thing..
In the end, I did the same, hooked the phone to the charger and went to sleep.
In the morning everything seemed to be working fine so far....
Any ideas what can cause this or how I can investigate this?
Jan
Did you flash/install anything (kernel,...)? Are you using SetCPU? (maybe you overclock it - can cause freezes)
No, I did not change anything compared to the default settings.
But indeed, it looks like something changed that was activated by a reboot.
I remember I tried to restore the HTC Weather widget with Titanium, but that failed. Not sure if this could have caused this. Sometimes a downloaded app does not work anymore (had that with whatsapp/googlemaps), remove and re-install fixes that.
Reboots now seem to work. But still an occasional freeze.
Is there a way to investigate this? I can connect to the Desire with putty....
Maybe you have a nandroid backup you made after the first time you flashed gv2.8?
And try if you have the same problems then?
Hans
Indeed I have a nandroid backup, made quite recent after the first install.
But first I want to see if this can be solved otherwise.
Using this backup will require to install a lot of apps again.
Unless I get a 'golden' tip here and I do not get too many freezes, first steps will be:
- getting a > class 4 micro sd (not sure what I have now)
- If that doesn't help, use the backup.
Today I was playing a game on my phone, all of a sudden, starts rebooting, then again, then again...After about four times, I had enough. Went into recovery, wiped all user data, cache, and davlik. Rebooted from there. Phone turned on, then started doing the same thing. At that point I tried a nandroid I made a couple days ago, but it still kept rebooting. Tried reflashing Synergy, of course I wiped everything again, but kept rebooting. Finally I ran a PC36IMG of the stock rom that I kept when I first rooted my Evo. Seems to have worked out because I'm not rebooting anymore. Now for my question, Can somebody explain what may have caused that to happen? I've been running Synergy for about two months and have had no problems. I generally don't overclock, but underclock when screen is off, and other big battery drainers. I was also running Freedom .9
Oh yeah, almost forgot. I've been lurking around your site for months and many of you have helped me out and don't even know it. So...THANK YOU!
Ok. Well I apparently do need help. Was able to run the 4.54 stock OTA rooted. Then tried Synergy, then MikG. Both are restarting non stop. I'm about to throw this thing through the window, go to Sprint, and get a cheapo phone.
So I was just sitting at the computer, not even using my phone, and I see it restart. However, upon it trying to start back up it is going through the Samsung animation, then the Sprint 4g animation, then it pops back to the samsung one again, and again, and again, forever. I have had the same rom, Blazer ROM [12/9/12] [v2.0] since about mid-December, and have made no changes to my phone other than a theme in late december.
So things have been working fine all the past few months, and just today this happens out of nowhere. I haven't even installed any new apps in the past two weeks, so I'm not sure what is up, I have tried to re-install the Blazer Rom after wiping dalvik and cache, but it still gets stuck in this loop. I know I could try to factory wipe, but don't want to lose my text data if possible. Does anyone have anything they can suggest? Thank you.
Ok, make a backup as is. Then clear everything, multiple times
Redownload Blazer (verify md5sum) and flash again. If it boots up you can advanced restore your data
Ah, thank you, I was going to do this and then turns out the backup didn't work properly, and I lost everything anyhow. Thanks for your help, guess it's time to start all over again with the phone as fresh.
Hello, all. Long time Android user here, no stranger to rooting, ROMing, all that good stuff. I ran into sort of a weird issue that just started to happen quite consistently over the past few days. It all started when I tried to flash the new XtraSmooth Factory Image ROM when it went up. Everything went smooth, except, for some reason, it kills my data connection. FYI, I'm on Sprint, but I don't think that has anything to do with the issue. But it gets weirder. Even if I try to flash a different ROM, a ROM where I had data working before, data is still mucked. No connection whatsoever. If I try to restore a nandroid backup, even weirder things happen. Like for instance, the restoration process stopping at 20-25% and automatically rebooting back into Android (Which just happened an hour ago), or the backup going into a bootloop. Only solution to these problems are going back to stock and re-rooting everything all over again. It's really weird. Am I alone with this issue? Thanks for any help.
Yes your alone sadly. Restore to stock and root again/unlock bootloader, etc
