[Q] MIUI icon background - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Launchers of like Touchwiz, iPhone, MIUI and DELL android tablet use those squared backgrounds for the icons on their home screen.
I've searched XDA for a themer/dev who has done this but no luck.
People seem to rather remove the iPhone's icon style but I think it looks nice.
Now I want to achieve this effect on a Sense or non-Sense based ROM without photo shopping every icon.
So is there a way to mod a Standalone Launcher like LauncherPro or ADW to have this icon style?
I'd love to help if any dev wants to give this a shot.
Thanks.

Ah, on second thought, I posted this at the general android forum because I can get more answers there, sorry.
Please delete this thread.
I've posted the thread here instead:

[Q] Question/Instructions - Themed Dock & Icons Installations

Soooo ... for the past couple days I've decided to give up my Sense ROM on my G2 and switch to CM6.1 Final, with the Gingerbread Theme. But for some reason I can't find a way to install the docks & icons. I've seen on many thread folks asking questions about installing custom docks and icons and I figured I would just start this. If anyone know's how to do it, feel free to post the instructions here.
Thanks!
Checked around to see if there were any rules for starting this thread and I didn't find any reason not too.

The launcher that comes with CM6.1 is ADW Launcher. Personally, I prefer Launcherpro. Both launchers have the ability to change the dock background. Try out launcher pro from the market and see which you prefer. Then you can go into the "Appearance" settings and change the dock to a pre-loaded dock or to a custom dock by selecting "custom" (it will then take you to your SD card to choose your custom image.
As for the icons, I use Bettercut found in the market. But if your not willing to spend, then Desktop Visualizer is another great option. They both allow you to change the shortcut icons.
Hope this helps!
I agree with Nissan. Been using Launcher Pro for about a week now and love it. I tried using a similar app when I was using my Cliq, but it made it super lag. With all the pwer behind the G2, u shouldn't notice anything too drastic as far as performance goes. And if you're overclocked, well then all the better

Damn ADW
I've flirted with ADW the entire day and there is no way to change the dock to anything custom. I'm going to download LP and just use that for my docks/icons and etc. Screw ADW.

Lmao! That's the same way I felt about ADW. ADW uses theme files that you can get in the market. When applied, it changes your wallpaper, icons, and dock background. I'm pretty confident that you will like LP if you don't like ADW.
not only does ADW lack an easy way to theme it but it also lacks 3d app drawer and the flick up app dock is super laggy on Vision, at least it was the last time I used it.... LPFTW!

"It" being changing the dock background. I meant to post my screen to show some folks but for some reason it didn't post.

Please tell me what these two themes are..

Looking for these two themes, cant seem to find them..
The icons are what I'm interested in.

I don't think I've seen those before.
Roll Tide
They look like go launcher themes.
It looks like a random launcher pro custom theme. Check for icon packs on Deviantart through the search bar on there site. Launcherpro also has a very nice icon pack on the market and its free if I am not mistaken however the icons are in color.

[Q] How to get different themes

As you didn't know I'm new to all this, however I was able to get my phone rooted and loaded with Jugg 4.0 with the ICS theme. My question is when I go to the theme forum there is a thread where people are posting all these different themes. Are they creating these themselves or are they getting them from another sources. I dont see as many themes in the theme forum that are showing up in the theme thread.

The thing is , most themes have to be made for individual ROMs so things don't break ..
Since a new build is out the KL1 , you may not find many themes yet. But be careful, you must make sure that any themes you do find here or other places are compatible with your specific ROM/Build ..
Flashing a theme from the wrong build can cause boot loops or worse ....

Thanks for your replay, so when I see the ADW Launcher app how do I know what ROM that is for?
ADW launcher is an app which works for any rom. It basically allows you to customize your phone however you want it. It has a ton of customization for your home screen and launcher but thats pretty much all it does. I bought it on the 10day sale and i love it. There is also a function in the setting which allows you to search the android market for tons of custom made themes, mostly free but some are paid.
Plus if ur running cm7 it comes with a theme chooser, and that has hundreds of themes
Thanks for the info and the caution on using theme's.
There are a few things that I have noticed from a noob's perspective in regards to theme's. Its clear from the "post your homescreen" thread in the themes forum that there are hundreds of themes out there. It also seems that many of the users are running juggernaut ROM. From what I can see posted in the themes forum, there aren't many themes made specifically with Juggernaut in mind. There seems to be a large difference in the number of themes offered from Jugg in the Theme forum to the number of different themes people are posting in the theme thread. I'm curious as to where people are grabbing these themes from. Is it from the ADW app in the market place?

What you are mainly seeing is Launcher themes and widgets , there are many launchers that can really be customized, and it can make your phone look totally new ... ADW, Launcher Pro, and my favorite Go Launcher EX. With the launchers it is much easier to change Icons, colors and such ... Widgets can change the whole look of your phone as well, something IOS can't do, so iphone people see it and think it is something totally custom when it is simply placing the right widget in the right place, which I think is quite funny ...

Thanks you for the explaination, I think I pretty much have it now.
For the sake of anyone in the future searching XDA and my post comes up. Ultimately like tcboo mentions your going to want to use a launcher you can download from the app market. I downloaded ADW and what was tripping me up with ADW is that its sort of a hidden app in the since there isn't an icon into the your application area to run it. When you hit your home button your phone will ask you if you want to use ADW or TouchWiz as a launcher. Choose ADW however don't set is as default until you are comfotable with it. To get to the setting of ADE you will hit the menu button to the left of your home button and hit more, then click on the more button and select ADWSettings. From here is where you can tweak the settings of the launcher and apply new themes you downloaded from the app market.

[REQ]White Icons

I have been searching the forums for an icon pack that is just plain bright white and compatible with CM9 or AOKP(although I really don't know that compatibility is an issue with icons, maybe someone can correct me there) and am not finding anything.
I'm really not looking for anything too fancy, just basic icons that are a bright white instead of the stock icons, similar to what you see in the Black Infinitum theme menus. I'm not really looking for much, just standard apps (gmail, calendar, messaging, phone, play, contacts, email, camera, maps, navigation, calculator, browser, voice) and maybe a few others of the really popular apps (facebook, dropbox, scorecenter, etc...)
If anyone could point me to icons that would work I would appreciate it, if there are none if a dev could take it on I would also appreciate it very much.
Thanks!
Found these on XDA

and the link below has some, but I can't figure out where to download them from..

That second link is almost exactly what I'm looking for, but same as you I don't find a download link. Thanks for the links nonetheless!

You can buy droidicon on the market for $5. It has a number of icon packs available in a number of colors and styles. It was previously called launcher pro icons and docks and meant for lpp, but you can use them on any launcher that you can change icons on. You will have to edit them yourself though, you can't install them as a theme or pack. You download the icons one by one from a list. I use the white icons on it for aokp with nova launcher, pics for the doc and text for the nav bar, they look really good. I would post screenies but I'm running miui.us atm. Hope I could help tho.

I used that for awhile... some of the icons are pretty generic, but the custimazation options are limitless, which more than makes up for it...
I really like that! I am going to give it a shot.
[EDIT] So I installed it and REALLY like these icons. They are pretty run of the mill designwise, but I wasn't looking for anything too off the wall anyway. What a great find, thank you!

Notification Bar Color changer

If anyone wants to try this, It might be a great app for the users that have a hard time seeing the grey on black that the present notification bar is displayed on the stock jelly bean ROM. I have tried a bunch of apps that change the bar's colors and some are really vivid, but are not able to display active things that pop in the bar like weather beetle, screebl icon, etc. It should be possible even without root, because the apps that are already available, can work on non rooted phones. All I want to do is change the color. That ought to be a piece of cake for someone familiar with the inner workings of the jelly bean ROM! If root is required, then so be it! either way would really rock!
I hope someone will jump on this and make it an aroma with color options when flashing....Just change the color!
Thanke!
Like the idea, but to get better help with this you're better off putting it in themes and apps section.

Thanks! I didn't know where the post would be most effective. Maybe a mod could move it there, rather than me double posting.
Thanks!
Hope there is someone that can do it for us!
Aloha!
I let them no, hope someone helps you out.
The Themes and Apps section is really for releases, mods and apks (once you boil it down). This is more of a request type thing. Maybe I can put it in Q&A?
Thoughts?
*****
Also you can check out the general Android Themes section too. IIRC in the old days, we used to use Metamorph and ZipThemer and you could use the correct xmls and they would replace your pre-existing files in the Framework-res.apk and make a redo.zip (only ZipThemer did this) that you could flash. But like I said that was in the old days before we ever had a systemUI.
I wasn't too sure but thought metamorph was his best bet. I've personally never used it... Q&A is good though, I think.
