Gmail crashing - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every time i look at my emails or even if im using another app. I get a message that says gmail had to close. I'm running cyanogenmod 6.1 and since i updated i've been having this issue

Do a full wipe, make sure you're using the latest GApps.

should i reinstall cyanogenmod or just wipe cache and dalvik cache and reinstall the new gapps?

Wipe data+cache, flash cm6.1-rc1, flash gapps 10/25.

[Q] CM10.0.0 d2att / gapps-jb-20121011-signed (Gapps will NOT install)

I have recently installed the new stable version of CM10 that was released today. The rom seems to be working fine but i cannot for the life of me get the gapps to install.
here are the steps I have followed to do a FULL CLEAN wipe.
Phone being used: S3 1747 att / Carrier:Bell
Rom=cm-10.0.0-d2att.zip
Gapps=gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
CWM= d2att 6.0.1.4 touch
1- Boot into recovery
2- Wipe cache
3- Under advanced wipe dalvik cache / battery stats
4- Under mounts: format system, data, and cache
5- Flash the ROM's zip file
6- Flash the gapps zip file
7- Reboot
This has always worked for me and i have no idea why the Gapps will not instal. Does anyone have any idea why this might be? Ive tried 3 times now. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: forgot to mention, the actual install within Clockwork recovery goes fine but when I boot into the rom and check my apps, the gapps are not present. Sorry for any confusion.
Check to make sure signature verification isn't turned off. If it continues, try twrp recovery (to rule out a recovery issue).
Thanks for the quick reply!
I turned signature checking on in ClockWorkMod, Reflashed gapps, wiped cache, dalvik cache and fixed permissions. Still does not work.
I then installed TWRP Recovery (latest version for d2att) Factory reset, Wiped cache, Wiped System, Wiped Dalvik. Installed ROM then Gapps both with signature verification turned on. Still no Gapps. Any ideas?
Also tried going back into TWRP, wiped cache, wiped dalvik and fixed permissions. Still no Gapps.
Where did you dl them from? i would try dl'ing again from a different place.
Downloaded directly from this page: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/wiki/Latest_Version/Google_Apps

Going to try:

and then

Will report back soon. Thanks again!
I tried many different links including the ones posted above and this still doesnt work. I also got curious and flashed a few older nightly builds mainly:
cm-10-20121110-NIGHTLY-d2att
cm-10-20121111-NIGHTLY-d2att
cm-10-20121112-NIGHTLY-d2att
and gapps does not work on any of them. There has to be something im doing wrong but i cannot for the life of me figure it out. Im not sure what to try next. Any suggestions?
EDIT: wait a minute... what apps does the gapps package include by default now?
EDIT2: GOOD LORD. I feel so stupid. I was under the impression that navigation, maps the new camera app was part of the 201210 gapps. I somehow forgot that recently I installed the 4.2 leaked apps which came with all the new goodies. Jesus lol. I also remember that installing the 4.2 apps made me lose the launcher options in cm10 settings which is why I have gotten rid of them. I guess this problem is now solved lol
Haha, well normally GAPPS don't include much. Just playstore, voice search (google now) and some other apps I don't remember. Not many though.

[Q] Gapps not working PLEASE HELP

Phone: Samsung-SGH-I747
Carrier: AT&T
Andriod Version: 4.1.2
CM: 10-20121206-NIGHTLY-d2att
CWM: recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-d2att
I am unable to find a compatible Gapps that works with this ROM, anytime I flash Gapps I get the
Unfortunately Android Keyboard (AOSP) Stopped
As well as "Connection Error "Retry" when trying to access Google Play.
I've tried wiping the cache within the AOSP Keyboard settings as well, but this seems to be a Gapps error as the Play store stops working.
I have tried gapps-jb-20121011-signed and gapps-jb-20121130-signed.
This is the method of install I have been doing:
1) Wipe data/factory reset
2) Wipe Cache Partition
3) Advanced -->Wipe Davlik Cache
4) Install 10-20121206-NIGHTLY-d2att
5) Install gapps-jb-20121011-signed
6) Reboot
Am I doing this right? Should I wipe cache/partition/davlik cache before gapps install? Whats going on here?
Is there a proper flashing process to make these work? Or is there is comparable stable ROM that has Gapps included and works (JB ONLY)?
I re-rooted my phone and did a clean install with I747UCDLK3_I747ATTDLK3_ATT then root66_ATT_I747UCDLK3 then ROManger CWM download to get where I'm at.
My whole reason to rooting was for Google Now, I've always liked CM's work but am willing to try something else if there are any other suggestions??
Please help, I feel like I've spent WAY too much time on something that seems so simple.
You're doing this right. I don't know what could be wrong.
As a last measure, try format instead of wipe. Format boot, system, data and cache, and flash CM and gapps 20121011 again.
Good luck!

Click to collapse
And that did the trick.
Thanks

CM nightlies

Do I need to reflash gapps when updating to the new nightlies? And should I be wiping either of the caches for best results?
Edit: nvm, flashed the new one and wiped dalvik after. Everything working beautifully.

Going from a nightly to a newer nightly of the same version (i.e. a CM10.1 nightly to a newer CM10.1 nightly), you should not need to wipe your system partition, but it never hurts if you are not in a hurry. You may want to wipe cache and Dalvik cache, as it may help to optimize the new versions of apps.
You would need to wipe your system partition when changing ROM (i.e. CM10 to stock) or changing from one version of a ROM to another version of the same ROM (i.e. CM10 to CM10.1).
Wiping cache and Dalvik cache do not uninstall apps -- so no, if you only wipe cache and Dalvik cache, you would not need to reinstall Google Apps.
But wiping system will format your system partition, deleting all system apps and user apps. This means that once you have reflashed a new ROM, if you had formated your system partition, you will need to reflash Gapps also. And reinstall all your other apps.

CyanogenMod nightlies

I'm updating with CyanogenMod nightlies at the moment. Should I wipe data and cache each time? Won't this mean reinstalling all apps and logging back in? At the moment I don't wipe but just update each time a new version comes along.
No need to wipe data... just wipe cache partition and dalvic cache.. flash rom and gapps. Reboot.
Bit of confusion on my behalf sorry... I"m using ROM Manager and after downloading it asks if you want to update and if you want to backup existing ROM and wipe data. I sometimes back up existing so I can go back but never wipe data.
No need to wipe anything. No need to flash gapps either.

[Q] Gapps question/HELP

I flashed cm-11-20140112 rom and then gapps-kk-20140105. Google sync wasn't working but all other accounts sync'd fine. Installed the OTA update to 11-20140210- snapshot M3-maguro and goggle sync, still is not working. Can I just reflash, another gapps pkg, without wipe cache and davlik or is the gapps pkg I have really not the problem?
