I was wondering if there was an app or a setting that allowed my phone to flash to the unlock screen when I recieved a text. I am getting tired of having to press the unlock button everytime I get a new text and it would be much better if I just had it flash to the "slide to unlock" screen. I'm sure there is a way to do this, I just haven't figured it out.
Tasker will do it and much more.

Thanks, that program looks pretty sweet.
Anyway you could give me a breif tutorial on how to set that up. I've read the few tutorials I found online, but none were specific to receiving texts. I know it is an If/Then situation, but I can't seem to set it up the way I want. I think it needs to be something like... If (receive a text) Then, perform (whatever action it is that pressing the unlock button does). It isn't really "unlocking" the phone because that is what the slide is for. I guess I'm wondering what command the unlock button is.
You could do it with handcent. You just have to enable popups in the program settings and it will pop up over the lockscreen and even wake your phone.
or chompsms will do it too
i use chomp sms and i have it set so that my popups can be opened on lock screen and no work involved other than hitting reply, later or show ....

I have upgraded my Hermes to WM6 and wanted to start locking the keypad.
The built in Device lock is fine, however I want this to automatically lock the device after 5 minutes.
I know there is a more advanced lock that can be activated after a period of time but I don't want to enter a 4 digit pin.
Are there any custom apps out there capable of performing this task?
Thanks
Mark
You could try the "Slide 2 Unlock" app posted >HERE<. That looks like it'll do what you're after.....
HTH,
Mark.
phoneAlarm
Ok, tried this app and like it... but...
I believe I have found a issue with this application when using phoneAlarm on my Hermes WM6..
I currently have phoneAlarm configured to alert me 30 times when I have a text message or missed call. This will continue to alert me until it has done it 30 times or I hav read the text etc..
What I have found since installing Slide2Unlock is that I don't get ANY alerts now.
Is there a registry setting that will get around this problem or is it a restrictions in the application?
Thanks
Mark
Voicemail Indicator...
Is there a registry setting that allows you to turn on a voicemail indicator on the screen? That would be a nice addition.
By the way, this is a coooool app! Thanks for the effort and bring this to the masses.

Once you get a voicemail, the indicator comes on. If you don't have any voicemails (and texts or e-mails for that matter), then no icon shows up.

Not sure if this is applicable, but I had a problem with Voice Command not waking up when I pressed my bluetooth with this app. I found that by disabling the autosuspend since I had it set to come on automatically when the phone goes into hibernation (set through the battery options), it would work again.
ie: Autostart=1
BlankScreen=1
IdleStart=0

Tested this out last night by calling myself and leaving a voicemail. The only indicators on the IPhone-esque screen were 'text msg' and 'missed calls' counts. Maybe I don't have something configured properly.
thx
I didn't really know what to search for, but I'm looking for a program that if you have a text or missed call or email or anything that requires your attention, shows a full screen message saying "missed call" or "1 New Text Message" or something of the like.
The reason is sometimes my phone is on silent, and even if I look at the phone it's hard to notice if I have something new or not. Is there any such freeware program? I'm using Kavanna Rom 6.1.
Thanks.

This works well for me.
Check this out
Automatic Keylock its Free, you can setup a better keyguard lock screen, you can disable having to press 2 buttons to unlock, & of course it will notify at certain times example: every 2 minutes or 10
Enjoy I hope that helps you out works AMAZING FOR ME
Can you pm me a link to this "Best Reminder" software? Do you think it's better than Don'tForget?
Thank you so much.
Anyone...?
I've been looking for a good app that would lock the 4 buttons on an incoming call and do nothing else, but so far I have been unsuccessful. All the apps that are capable of doing this usually come with several strings attached, one of which is usually a whole new interface for the dialer.
What I am looking for is simple - when a call is incoming I want the 4 keys to be locked, but the screen to remain unlocked, so I can use the slide to answer part of the dialer.
Does such an app exist or if it doesn't, would somebody with the appropriate skills be able to write one?
LockMeLite 1.3 does this. Only other thing except that is it locks the screen when you wake up the phone, so it is not so 'heavy' application like s2u2 for example.
Thanks, but I was aware of LockMeLite. And as stated in the first post, this app forces screen locking on me. If I was able to disable the screenlock and keep the button lock during call active I'd be a happy camper.
Well, you can disable screenlock on incoming call, and if screenlock on power button press is so much of an issue for you... maybe if you ask the developer kindly, he will disable this feature just for you (or in the next version)

I was hoping for that kind of program too The best so far is AE button and put call/hangup on double tab. Wish someone could make a prog just to disable buttons on incoming call

I think during conversation, the keys became unlock. It only lock when you have an incoming call and before you pick up that call.
Try TouchLockPro (link in sig). Version 2.6 is the first release which is usable on the HD as the sole locking utility. It is very configurable, so I think you'll achieve what you want.
I am using WidgetLocker along with Go SMS Pro. I really like the popup feature, but I dont want it to popup when I am on my Lockscreen in WidgetLocker.
I causes me to miss out on some sms because when WidgetLocker locks my screen again after the popup GO SMS think it is because I have read the sms, and then it removes all notifications of ever receiving a new sms.
When using stock lockscreen the popup is visible after unlocking my screen, but not i WidgetLocker. Any solution to get this working? It works find with Handcent, so I guess this has something to do with GO

Go into WidgetLocker settings, and then Popups. Click the box that says "Hide SMS Popups" and see how that works. If it doesn't work, you might have to figure out the package name of the GO SMS alert and do "Hide other".
Hide sms popup doesn't work, go sms seems to override it.
Under "hide others" I got rid of the popup, but it also removes all kinds of notifications from GO SMS. I used com.jb.gosms
This is a bug in GoSMS. GoSMS is prematurely dismissing the notification when their activity is paused, even if the activity is paused by the system like during an incoming phone call or when WidgetLocker takes over. The Android API provides onUserLeaveHint specifically for an activity to use to know if it should dismiss the notification or not, however GoSMS does not use this.
I've contacted them multiple times about this issue and received no response.
A user has reported a work around, though it's suboptimal:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13407339&postcount=1195
The work around with gosms/WL to make the led blink on new messages is to always have an unread text. Use whatever means you want, sent yourself a text; I use something simple, "DO NOT ERASE". Upon receipt, do not open, or if you have popups enabled, press 'to do', which leaves it marked unread. Now, for any new texts received, the led will always blink.

how about just putting the gosms widget on the widgetlocker lock screen? That way the last message received will always be there.
I am not interested in having a sms widget on my lock screen.
Regarding the "fix", my phone dont have a notification Led. It this wont be sorted out soon I guess I have to look for a different SMS app, even though I think GO SMS is the best one (except from this bug).
Have you tried Noled? I haven't tried it with GoSMS as I use Handcent but I don't think Go will overide it's notification once activated.
Rather than start a new thread, thought I'd ask if anyone else was able to hear their notification sound when receiving a message as I haven't

I'd say give his suggestion a try anyway. Even though the phone doesn't have a physical LED, the OS itself still supports it, and that might be more important than anything. It's very possible that it'll still work.
gosms released an update yesterday which supposedly fixes this problem.
Hmm, no update in marked for Go sms as I can see
That's weird mine updated and is working fine now
The update showed up today. It is better now, but the popup still gets on top of WidgetLocker, but now it dont remove the notifications when the screen get locked again.
Only thing missing now is "quick compose"
I am having an issue/annoyance with my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S9 and I hope you all are able to help. My device is currently setup so that when I get a text I receive the notification in the bar, I am then able to pull the notification bar down to read a portion or all of the text and am given the option to reply (a short message) directly through this feature. When I do this and click the send arrow and very quickly thereafter I receive another notification as if I had gotten a new or different text when in fact, when I slide the notification bar down, it is just just my own sent text being shown to me. Hopefully this makes sense to some of you. It is really annoying to me. I always thought that in the past if you did a quick reply the notifications would auto go-away unless you actually recieve a new/different text message.
Any insight?
Thanks
Bro, it's not an issue, it's actually helpful in a lot of ways.
For example if I had to reply to an important message without being "online" on whatsapp, I can send many messages from just the notification panel, so I can see the whole conversation from there without opening the app. I think it's a very handy feature.
Simply when you reply to a conversation and you don't need to utilize this feature, just swipe the notification to the left/right and you won't see a notification unless you recieve a new message.

So swipe away the notification once you have sent your message, happens here too if I leave the notification there after replying
I don't see the benefit
I don't use WhatsApp, but regardless I don't need my notification light to keep flashing as a result of me replying to a text via quick reply feature. Like I said, it's just an annoyance for me that I don't recall dealing with on any of my galaxy devices and I was merely trying to see if there was a way to toggle this "feature."

Yes, I can read and that's what I already do. The whole purpose of the thread was to see if there was an option to toggle this useless feature off. I would have already read and/or replied to the specific text, thus not needing to have to REacknowldge or "swipe" the notice away for a second time...leaving my light flashing until I go to it 2 times.

You should explain in your first post what you have and have not done so people know before replying....
No, no toggle other than disabling notification LED altogether either system wide or for that app
Phone is obviously thinking your reply is a new message, which in a way it is, although already reading it should inform it that you have read it and it is not new, but as it does not, keep swiping and report to Samsung

this might actually be a sprint issue. the app that you use to do your quick replies, do you know what its called? my S9 doesnt have a feature like that on it and its running the may security patch update, so its not on an old firmware and just missing a new feature.
glitchy stuff like what youre experiencing can be often solved with a factory reset

It's not an app, it's literally the notification pulldown which you can reply from, when you receive a message and pull down the notification to read it, under the message is a reply button, press that and it opens a little reply text box on the notification dropdown, when you press send and turn off the screen it flashes the LED to say there is an unread notification which is actually your reply still sitting in the notification dropdown, only way to stop it is to swipe away
Got it here with unbranded G960F S9 in the UK on o2

ok, i just tested that out, and i was able to use the quick reply feature and didnt get a residual notif. rec'd test, went to pulldown, hit the little enter key button which revealed a reply field taht wasnt part of my default text app, typed a reply, sent it, locked screen, no flashing light, no further notif. seems like mine is working like its supposed to
edit: i also verified that the intended recipients got my replies. no notifs for my outbound messages on my device
