Hi, ive tried various 2.2 Roms on my HTC hero and im having loads of different problems with it getting really slow, re-booting, crashing etc. Just want to know if there is a 2.1 stock rom thats been rooted available to download to downgrade to?
Had a search on the forum but cannot find it. Thank you!

I just picked up the Desire yesterday from Telstra, and she's an amazing phone, apart from all the preinstalled telstra stuff. I've seen mention of a generic rom floating about but will installing this rom work on the aussie Desire? If so, is there any faq on how to go about flashing the desire?
Thanks in advance,
I believe at this moment, it is not possible to flash to any other ROM other your default one. Not until someone has finally "cracked" the access.

ok firstly my mistake, i have a locked t-mobile Htc Desire, then root it, then install a custom rom then install stock RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed
then run software udate and you have a stock 2.2 rom result.
well done...
<slow hand clap>
Thread is pointless really.
A) Your title and content is completely wrong and how could you not know this when you posted originally and B) The actual rom details etc is well known to most people as there are already plenty of threads here and other forums with same info.
Wake up dude.
This thread should be torched by the mods before too many T-Mo users think this guy is a genius.
i have purchased htc desire from telus and unlocked it. no matter how many times i do ota update i dont get the 2.2? while here every1 in desire forum have 2.2? i just came from xperia x10 so i dont know much about htc phones. how do i get 2.2? please help.
wow u mean htc people no help
Anyone?????????????????????
If your phone is branded as in have stuff from TELUS on it, they would have to release a special update first. Only unbranded handsets get updates from HTC. Try searching for "unbrand"
i dont see any telus stuff
You need to root and install a debranded 2.2 firmware yourself

What he said Openfroyo is working pretty good for me (unless there is a faster one out there)
lol i dont even know what they r lol . im new to desire . how do i root n debrand n get froyo and is open desire relly the best rom for desire?
If you look around the forum there are many guides for either unbranding your phone or rooting it.
The Telus Desire will have their own official Froyo version this month (October).
It's on their site but I can't post the outside link...

Read some (sticky) topics in development. Official froyo has no root. For opendesire you need root. OpenDesire has no Sense UI. There are many roms, and all are the best for some ppl. Read and search. SEARCH before posting.

so how easy is it to root and put rom leedroid on my desire? what are the chances to bricked the phone?
please share your taughts and help me and if u guys could provide link for easier root and put rom that be great. thanks
anyone? please help
please read the stickies in the adroid development forum
i did but there is soo many im new. so i dont know which to use. and i youtube the video its all in different language. so its confusing
The guides are made for new people. If you dont understand them I'd lay off rooting your desire as you could brick it
Hey buddy. I was in a similar situation as you, on the edge of rooting.
I also have a Telus-branded HTC Desire. The method I used was : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=763558 with this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044 for reference.
Its fairly painless. I have been hoping back and for between AuraSense, SenseHD, Miui, and Leedroid.
Found if you don't have a dire need for Camera, SenseHD is the way to go.
Otherwise, I've been enjoying the latest Leedroid.
If you are having problems following the guides, it may not be a good idea to root. However rooting the Desire is very easy (at least the GSM version).
I used unrEVOked to root, just download from their site, switch USB Debugging mode on, plug in and start the app ... it takes care of the rest.
I have used DeVillain, LeeDroid, and OpenDesire. LeeDroid is very good. I have personally stuck with Cyanogenmod. Very easy to install and the fastest benchmarks of the lot. Only problem .. no Sense .. but LauncherProPlus can do most of the sense stuff.
Happy hacking.
Hey Guys,
