How does Google ID your device? What # does it go by to link to the marketplace, and is it possible to change this #?
Gmail account Mabey?

Yeah I have wondered about this as well because on the incredible you cannot find Angry Birds on the market. It wasn't that big of a problem, but still pisses me off.
It knows your device by the device footprint and the account is linked to your gmail account, footprints very between tons but seems most people use nexus one footprint... questions should be posted in the q & a section to help keep forums easy to read by the way
Just Google how to change footprints on android that should help

He was talking about stock rom. The incredible couldnt download beta from the market unless you changed your market footprint.

Android Market
It's actually a pretty good question.I've run quite a few different roms in the last month or so and even though I back everything up,the Market seems to lose apps that I've purchased from time to time.Would be nice to know if there's a way to retrieve them online or if we just need to keep buying them over and over.

Yes seriously. You answer was anything but. I want to where they are stored. Hitting the downloads tab shows a list of them, it doesn't show WHERE.
Download Astro File Browser and use the built-in search feature. Make sure it is scanning the whole system and not just your SD card.
This should tell you where they are downloaded and stored.
This question is highly ambiguous. You may want to refine.
I think he means, if you wipe and install a new ROM, the first time you go into the market, it will remember the apps you DID have installed.
Where is that stored?

Exactly. This is what is elusive. Maybe I'm completely wrong and they are stored on SkyNet I mean Google.
I am pretty sure they are attached to your google account. So they are stored on skynet, in some dark dungeon of servers they have 1000 feet under ground
Actually, I think this is a two part deal. The apps you have purchased are associated with your google account. Free apps and trials have a local market link associated with them. This link can become corrupted and titanium backup has the capability to restore those links. Running a logcat while executing the restore market links process may point you in the right direction.
.....
Frank...
They are definitely associated with your google account. My market kept telling me I had a **** load if apps on my phone...no mater how many times I wiped, they still showed as installed on my phone. I created a new google account and bam..fixed the issue when I signed in with the new account. Its the weirdest thing.

indeed. this seems not only a evo specific "issue". a friend has a hero and was complaining how to uninstall apps since there is a sprint tab in her market. i told her to press menu and then to downloads since she isnt a geek.
i first noticed this tonight.. weird.

I installed advanced task killer for the new update froyo 2.2 and i saw if you got underground app. not buyed. No kill the application
Anyone with same issue?
thanks
Wait, so you're complaining that because you have a pirated version of a free app, it's not working? Am I understanding this right?

Not, When i got 2.1 i used advanced task killer and let me kill the pirated app. Now with the 2.2 pre-release not kill it. Im wonder if someone had ther same issue or any program can kill it for 2.2
Hmm, so if we are understanding this correctly, your having problems with a pirate app, or a pirated app, as this is a developers site, we don't give help to those who pirate. That's like someone complaining that your having issues with a pirated version of windows. Not the right site for pirated help. Now if its a pirate app (though I'm not aware of any) then I'm sure someone can help.
Barrrrrrrr is a pirate app you move little pirates around a bar
is that the app? otherwise 1) task killers are bad and you shouldnt be using it anyway and 2) stop pirating apps ... the developers work extremely hard on them (many from this site), most apps are very reasonably priced, and 3)you will get very little sympathy and help here for them.
I stole a car once and it got a flat tire. I found out who owned it and they actually came and fixed it for me.
Just go get the free version of ATK in the market and be done with it. Also, taking some English classes wouldn't hurt either.[/thread]
You guys are interesting. The guy is saying ATK which isn't pirated. (Don't make sense to get a pirated version of a free app anyways) won't shut down his other pirated apps since the 2.2 update. IMO just set ATK to aggressive and use the widget often if it bothers you that much.
You guys do realize that Google has made it virtually impossible for task killers to work in Froyo. Something about not allowing the killing of other apps. Some API's changed and now task killers just restart the processes or something like that...

I first learned of this when I was looking at AppSwitcher on the market. They had on their app page that Froyo doesn't allow killing other apps, so I dug around and found out that most task killers aren't functioning properly in Froyo and then traced it to this discussion.

We have a winner. You shouldn't have mentioned the app was pirated, it has nothing to do with your issue. If you need to kill an app, Froyo has a built in app manager. Go to Settings, Applications, Manage Applications, Running and open your app and force close it.

The beta is over for Angry Birds (I think) and CPS2 has been removed due to complaints from Capcom. You can still get CPS2 via the developer's blog. jrioni-cps2.blogspot.com
angry birds is still in market for my friends hero so there must be a issue with cm6... and thanks for the info on cps2!
yeah i found a website confirming that angry birds is a no go on cm6 for some reason.

Ah... that's strange. I can't see it either. I can see protected apps and AFAIK everything else. I wonder what the problem is.
This is a seriously, SERIOUSLY annoying problem I've discovered.
Sometimes when I open the "Downloads" section in Market my apps aren't there. Well, a few are but most aren't. And there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason behind which ones still show up vs the ones that are missing.
I don't switch ROMs - I run Fresh (currently the latest version).
The only way I can get them to reappear is to manually search for an app I already have installed and update it if an update is available. Then POOF all of my downloads are there.
Any idea what in the HECK could be going on here? This sucks because I can't see when an update is available unless I search for the app. It's driving me nuts

Thanks, that did it....still wonder what the heck the cause is though.
It may have something to do with running a custom rom, bit imo the Android market still has some bugs to work out.
Sent from my SUPERSONIC
It happens to me all the time. Cyanogen and I believe Ava-Froyo roms seem to download all of my 350+ apps that I have ever downloaded. Some roms only seem to "remember" or only allow me to download certain apps from the Market. I am thinking that if I don't have the option selected to download unauthorized apps from the Market, that could be one reason why. But, I have been wondering the same thing as the OP. Only a couple of the many, many roms I have used/tried will actually have "saved" all of the apps I have ever downloaded. It is a pain when it is a paid app that doesn't show up. I have to remember which ones I bought so I can re-download!
My issue wasn't the market data, but for some reason some roms when Apps are moved to the SD card it screws up what shows.
Try moving any apps on your SD card to your phone memory instead, then kill the market task and restart it
they should all show then
Same problem but with a twist
Not only do my apps keep disappearing from the market, but some apps won't aunthenticate with Googles license server, so I cannot use them! ARGH!

No offense, but thats what happens when we hammer on people to search before posting... (s)he did and zombied the post.
I'm not sure if this has been talked about or not.
I tried to search & came up empty.
I recently switched from EC05 Bonsia to CleanGB MTD.
I am trying to put the finishing touches on rebuilding the phone & when I tried to used SamsungApps it wouldn't connect, says no network connection.
Does this program no longer work under Gingerbread?
Or is there a newer version?
I restored a backup from EC05 (I know BAD!!) that's all I had for that app.
Looking at Samsung's site it looks like the Epic is no longer supported.
Anyone have any input
just keep trying, i had the same issue. and it worked on wed.

Thanks, you were right. I had been trying for a few days before I posted & it finally picked up this morning & wanted to update. Now it works fine.
Are you guys getting a bunch of what looks like full games in there but they say for SGSII only? I wonder if there is anyway to get those running...
Does anyone have the apk for the SamsungApps that works for our phone?

Yes, I can see several I'd like to try, but it wil not download them because it says for SGS2 only.
The game is in the market for the Epic so if there is a way to get it to start the download they should work, I would think. Samsung wants everyone to get the new product.
Anyone have any ideas on how to trick the SamsungApps into downloading these?

Ok, got it.....
I pulled the apk out of my phone, I am running CleanGB MTD 1.0.3 & the apk just updated, so it should be current.
I hope this helps ya......
Thanks, I actually had that apk but it wasn't working. So I thought maybe someone had a different one. Turned out I was just being dense and was trying to install it on CM7 and it wasn't working. Once I switched to another ROM it worked. Thanks again!
Angry birds & Seasons, and Riptide are full add free versions.
NFS Shift and Bejewled are 60minute trials (lame). Post if you find any more full titles.
As for the sgs2 games, I'm thinking a build.prop hack might allow those to install but I haven't had time to try yet. Basically just like how a bunch of us got 50gig box accounts for "LG phones"
