[Q] Samsung Galaxy Europa forum? - About xda-developers.com

Hey guys, this is probably the 2nd best value Android phone (ZTE Blade 1st) and I'm gonna have it on the 1st of November, so maybe you can add it? Just wondering, and I can moderate the forums if you want to.
Just my 2 cents.

Hey, I've just bought my mum one for xmas, just been setting it up now it was a fantastic price (1/2 price @£89 from the carphone warehouse today) "universal androot apk" works so that saved me some time! Hope you enjoy yours, i'll look out for the new thread

Anyone know what the unlocking situation is for this phone?

The phone is also known as "samsung galaxy 5" & "samsung i5500" loads more info if you search those too

Anyone else intrigued by this budget sub £100 handset? Rumored specs
Eclair 2.1
3.5 inch capacative OLED
800x480 res
3mp camera
Wifi
Hdspa
600mhz processor
It sounds almost worth buying even though it will feature heavy orange branding!
It's based on a handset made by ZTE I believe. Not sure of the name, but it is on the 3 network.

Blade I think?
Is it possible to buy this phone from Germany?
It's on orange, I have one, brilliant phone for the money, no major drawbacks. Rootable using universal androot, mcr in the pipeline from paul at modaco. Expect this to be hacked to hell by the community, as it's gonna be well popular.
I'm actually tempted to get one as I'm interested in learning how to build roms and about modding in more depth. Seems like the perfect phone to learn on
Not quite sure if this is the right section
Yeah, you're right, it's not the right section lol. It could do with its own section really. It will probably get one soon.

It is made by ZTE
Is this going to get it's own section? Paul has a custom MCR ROM out for it already!
It already has full root, a custom rom and $3 unlock codes!
Just needs a taste of froyo now. And paul thinks that should be easy too as they already have kernel source for it too.
Any news on a dedicated section for the San fransisco?
Will it be possible to flash a desire ROM?
I recomend this to anyone thinking about buying one. only £99 PAYG. Even at £200 it would be a bargain!
Thanks

[Q] HTC One X...will you be getting one?

For me, my Desire HD does WAYYYY more than I need, which is cool....but the geeky side of me is starting to twitch when I saw this:
HTC One X
http://www.htc.com/uk/smartphones/htc-one-x/
http://androidheadlines.com/2012/03/htc-one-x-specifications-first-take.html
"HTC has stated that they took a bit of a downturn last year releasing too many devices and adding too much to their once lauded Sense UI. For 2012 they intend to attack the smartphone market with a renewed sense of purpose and with an entirely new line of products with the recently announced HTC One line. The headliner of the new trio is the HTC One X announced at Mobile World Congress as a Tegra 3 sporting quad core beast of a phone meant to put HTC back on the map.
The requirements for being part of the One series are Authentic Sound which is provided by the integrated Beats Audio and an Amazing Camera with HTC’s own image software and new ImageChip. In the U.S. however the One X will feature a dual core 1.5Ghz Snapdragon because when the phone was being designed to run on AT&T’s LTE network the Tegra 3 did not support LTE though it does now so the U.S. version suffers on the front. It will however ship with the latest version of Sense 4.0 and Ice Cream Sandwich."

Would you get rid of your Desire HD for one?
Or, keep your Desire AND get this one?
do you like it?
The specs look nicccee!!!!!
Matt
If I could keep the DHD and have a One X I would,
But...
I'd also trade my DHD for it.
Greg.

got a year left on my contract, plus i just "upgraded" to the DHD
can't afford a new phone, and the DHD handles everything well, i'll stay put
I have DHD but HTC One X is something that i must to have it!
I'm on pay as you go, got my desire off Ebay months ago, in absolutely MINT condition, never failed me once....but if/when this get's released in UK.....I just know I won't be able to resist.....i'll wait til it's been out a couple of months, and get one off Ebay.....finances say "NO"
But, i'll beg, plead, prey and sell my soul to get the cash for one..lol
Even though it's got WAY more features and power that I need....just something telling me in my head..."yum yum, got to have! got to have!"
Matt
I will get one if I can !!! Not sure when Malaysia will release .

Hopefully the rumors are true and it comes to t-mobile as g4x or whatever. Wonder if its gonna be more than $200 with a 2 yr contract

If only I can afford it.
Yes!!!
I will be getting one for sure! My question is can i get an international version with the quad core processor and still use it with my sim card? If not I will still get the XL but still bummed about only getting a dual core over here...
never-mind answered my own question. it will work as long as it operates on a 850 and 1900mhz bands! sweet!!!!!
hoping it will be....
what a specs? hoping it will be released by May here in downUnder, that's when am eligible for an early upgrade...cant wait...
I'm not due an upgrade until December (stupid 2 year contract!) but this is already shaping up to be the phone I get. Looks awesome and nice specs too + with any luck by the time I do upgrade the community will already have some awesome custom ROMs released. I'll be happy not to be an early adopter for once
Either the x or the v...but weirdly I'm hoping that dome devs release an asop to her...from what I've seen with sense 4 yeah looks a bit different but not majorly overhauled...but then how would the dropbox work...surely it'd have to be linked to the handset...so custom roms...hmm lol who knows...but sadly yes I will have the urge to get one...can't help myself

I'm keeping the DHD and getting One X too so it's all peachy for me.

my upgrade date was tuesday
so if i can get one from my operator for a sensible price i'm seriously thinking about it
looks good, might think about getting one
From what I have seen of this, and assuming that there is not another killer phone comes out before my current contract expires in Jun I would definitely get one of these!
I love my HD2, but it is starting to get a bit dated!
I bought DHD about 15 months back it has served as a good replacement for my Nokia N79, but the battery life is really bad in this. I have just purchased GT-N7000 Hope to get some good juice out of it before I think of going for One X, sure One X has better specs then any current Android mobile, but you may want to wait for Samsung S3.
Maybe i give my DHD to my wife and buy One X...a great machine.

HTC One X - Games crashing :(

Just switched to android after years of being an iphone user.
Got a HTC One X (in New Zealand) which as ICS 4.0.3 and 1.26.781.2
After installing ARHD 5.2 a bunch of games that did work on stock are either crashing to desktop or rebooting the device itself.
Anyone else getting this issue?
Pretty sure it installed correctly, sais the ARHD version in settings.
Using clockwork to revert back to stock until ****s fixed :/
...
And You Chose The One X?
...Why?
Crashing on stock ROM?? Don't know....
Try contacting the CC of the game or app or contact where you bought your device from, HTC.
should of waited for the s3 cos samsung phones never crash htc do alot
andd the iphone........well its **** don't use a fruit phone
Sounds like they weren't purchased from the market or the fact you're running something custom.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
Correct, they weren't purchased from the market.
Seems that apps designed for Tegra are working fine, guess more will come online the longer this device has been around.
Don't know what you HTC haters are *****ing on, these phones are badass, so powerful.
Samsung user just **** out of these forums and don't say s3 rocks. It will sucks soon as soon it gets out. Let me count on you *****es.

If you stick with the apps from the market, you won't have to worry about this. Only compatible apps show in the market.

[Q] Planning to buy HTC One X- beginner questions

Hello!
I'm new to the forums and Android. Right now, I'm an owner of an iPhone 3GS.
I'm getting a new phone because I'm sick of all the lagging and Apple may not create apps/games for my old 3GS anymore.
Now, to my questions.
1. Does One X lag (even a little) when browsing internet, playing games or even in Android.
2. I plan on getting the EU version, which should be 32GB and quadcore(not really a question, just claryfing).
3. Can I root ANY version of One X?
4. Should I root? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
5. How does the Flash Player work? Can I like play online games which require flash player?
6. Should I buy a case, if yes, which? I was using iSkin on my 3GS, but they dont make one for HTCs.
7. Will I be able to install ANY version of Android which comes out?
8. I want a top-end smartphone. Is there some kind of app/game that One X cant run?
Thanks in advance!

I'm no expert so will try and answer your questions to the best of my knowledge.
1. I've had my One X for a couple of months and am more than happy, I'm still on 1.29 Orange UK and browsing and games are pretty good, I've no complaints anyway. I believe some people said phone got better with the 2.17 update.
2. There is a thread about a 16GB version, I think someone got one from dialaphone UK, just double check.
3. I'm pretty sure you can root any version, but might have a little wait if newer FW comes out. Someone with more knowledge might be able to confirm this better.
4 Root is just like jailbreak on Iphone, I always root mine so I can delete all stuff I dont want.
5. I don't play online games but flash works for me, I watch football at work at night.
6. Case is entirely your choice.
7. Who knows? but I assume we'll be able OK for a couple of years (updates).
8. Some people might have problems with some apps they use, mine work fine.
Hope this helps you a bit. Overall I'm more than happy with my HOX. I had a Galaxy S2 then went to the Sony Xperia S for a few weeks and then onto the HOX
I would wait for the one x+ that's got a bigger screen 1.7ghz tegra 3 and lte

If your rooting plan is to upgrade to the latest version of android...eg jellybean, beat in mind that flash is no longer supported, thus harder to install and update

Bigger screen? Like 0.1" bigger to match the s3 ?
Doesn't need a bigger screen bigger battery would be better.
To op, beauty of android means that you can complie any android and port it to any device.
So yeah newer versions of android should be updated by HTC or Xda.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Uhm, I think I've read somewhere that the HOX+ should have 4.5'' screen?
Hox+ should be the same as the One X but with quad and lte. I don't think they will downsize the screen.
If you need lte then go for the One X+ if you don't then go with the international One X as the development is better than any other variant as of the moment.
Official jelly bean is due very soon rumours early as next month so it'll get even better!

5inc screen and a replaceable battery I think it sounds really good they say they fixed all the problems we had with this one
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Well, now I've found out about HTC One XXL which should have 2GB RAM and 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon, so yeah, I might even wait for that one...
Guess I'll just wait and see when One X+ and One XXL comes out and I'll decide.

Need more opinions on qwerty phones. Options inside

hello, I was considering renewing my mobile phone. I'm deciding among several with touchscreen and physical keyboard. However I have a few problems with decision since none of them are sold in my country -spain.
The options are mainly
-Samsung i927 Captivate Glide
-Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II I41
-Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G T699
-Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro
-Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro
I made a lot of questions in this forum a time ago about the captivate glide. And even when in the end I was pleased with the info received I decided to wait. Recently, I read that the gps in this device has been having problems to connect. Is the gps problem something solvable or it will be useless as long as the device lasts? Also i was wondering if this problem would have also affected to the other Samsung devices listed above, as they are coeval and some components might be shared.
Now I think about the other models, which are more expensive or cheaper but with worse performance, or happens there is less information about them. In some cases, I'm not even sure if they work in spain since nobody own them. Some models don't even have a forum for itself here in xdadevelopers. I also perceive that manufacturers don't offer a good support for this kind of mobile phones which don't seem to suppose a commercial hook. It's a pity, truly.
Any recomendations about what to buy between those models? And where? New ideas are accepted as long as they include sliding qwerty keyboard and touchscreen.
Should I desist on buying such a kind of phone? I see quite a lot of problems out there..
Been running my Captivate for over 2 years now, gps is only an issue with jb 4.2 roms i think, if you run Ics on it you shouldn't have any troubles with your gps. I really liked this phone from day 1.

I didn't know the mytouch4g slide. Even so, the ram is under 1GB, like the sony Ericsson i listed. But the sony Ericsson its quite easy for me to get it in here.
Motorola droid is discarded since you have to modify hardware to be able to use it with different simcards.

I bought my wife a Captivate Glide about a year ago, since she only likes keyboard phones (and I only like GSM phones, so we can travel with them easily). It's "okay", but more and more the 4.0.4 version of the OS, combined with the fact that it's Tegra2 (no NEON instructions) makes the phone feel dated. Yes, there is an effort to port 4.2 to it, but since the phone wasn't that popular there's just not a ton of development progress for it - hence the ports are relatively immature, and I wouldn't hold out hope for feature completeness. Even if the port were complete, you'd still have to deal with having non-NEON versions of applications, which will become more and more problematic (c.f., Google Now).
It looks like the Relay 4G is a better choice from a supportability standpoint (now that it's an official CM 10.2 phone, it should at least live in the Android 4.x line for awhile), and the Exynos processor is markedly more complete and modern than the Tegra 2.
If I had to do it again, I'd have gotten my wife the Relay 4G.
Motorola droid 5 coming soon!!!

Better wait for the Droid 5.
Well I'm afraid that I went for the captivate glide among the options that I had in mind, mainly because of the price. Actually I'll open a post with several doubts that came up.
So droid 5 will be out of my possibilities when it sees the light. lol
"Wireless charging capability" that's insane.
Lies. I haven't gotten a GPS fix in three months, unrooted, no modifications.
