That's probably because there's a thread made for these kinds of stuff and people always seem to miss it...

I could like it too. I have one.

Where you live ? It`s my job - I come to you and teach. Price per our (114.-€) +tax and travel.
just noticed your accomplishment: 4 posts, 4 threads, 3 of them basically redundant, 2 duplicate and opened within 6 minutes, 2 in the wrong forum, quite a startup
for the future pls do the following:
read the rules and abide by them; especially do search b4 posting, use existing threads to ask, don't open threads for answers easily found on the forum
your question was answered twice, thread closed

[Req] Place icons anywhere on screen

Is it possible to allow free positioning of icons anywhere on the homescreens?

well, it's actually a request from me, and i was hoping for a discussion between devs on possibly removing the grid on homescreens that locks icons into place. that way we can have free positioning anywhere on the homescreen without the icons snapping into place.

Having this option would be really sweet but I am not sure how possible it would be. What are you thinking for moving the icons? Maybe someone has a tweak that would be more feasible for positioning the icons

Folks have two options when visiting a thread:
Option 1
Provide helpful and constructive repsonses ... not "use search", "use google", "wrong forum", etc.
Option 2
If a member is not inclined to follow Option 1 ... then move on!
If a member has posted in the incorrect forum, report the thread with a recommendation as to where it should be moved to.
As moderators, we spend countless hours having to clean up threads like this instead of working on our own forum contributions. As a fellow XDA member, help us by reducing the amount of off-topic, trolling, and flamming responses.

p.s. I vote for finding some new aggressive mods to clean up the sub forums... alot of repeated questions keep popping up all over the place =(
WE have a Q&A thread for a reason...eg barebones rom is not development, its Q&A, 1080p playback is general until it stops being just speculation.
And hell I love NOLED but it's an app.

What do you understand by "Development"?
If NOLED (application developed exclusivelly for our SGS) is not supposed to be here, then what? Are the ROMs discussions and MODs better candidates?
Should we change the name from "Galaxy S development" to "Galaxy S Technical discussions"?
in my opinion the worst spam topics are the many "bricked my SGS please help immediately"

Developer forum should be for apps, roms, firmwares, etc.
This could relate to this other thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764084
If we can clean the forum and keep it clean (with good active moderators) it should be easy even to merge galaxy s forums and have all interesting information in the right place

Firmwares Technical Feedback /
ROMs /
Rooting /
Tweeks /
MODs /
Applications created by members for our SGS
Yeah, I think topics need to be clarified. Q&A should be "Questions and Troubleshooting"
And development needs to clarify exactly what is covered, otherwise, technically testing new leaked roms might be considered development..
