Best backup - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Please everyone, what is the best backup so far for HTC Desire? Backup pro or Nand backup or Titanium backup?

I use Titanium Backup and it works really well. I haven't tried the others as I've had no reason to seek out an alternative.

Stupid question maybe, i know that Titanium backup all the app and app data..this means backup also the sms messages?

Anyone?? Will Titanium backup do a backup of SMS messages/Call Logs??

I use my backup pro. It savers all sms mms etc... Don't know if it stores app data tho

titanium backs up everything, wallpaper, app settings, game high scores, wifi connection settings, custom keyboard dictionary, system settings,....
Literally THE LOT apart from the actual ROM itself.
If you wanna take a 'snapshot' of the phone for backup purposes, just use NANDroid from clockworkmod. Only problem is you can't refresh those kind of backups, you've got to manually do new backups and delete old redundant ones.

I use an app called SMS Backup & Restore. It works really well and it had scheduled backups, etc. It's also free. What you can do is have Titanium Backup make a backup of SMS Backup & Restore and then use that to restore SMS.
NOTE that SMS Backup & Restore stores your backed up messages onto the SD card so when you do a factory reset before installing new ROMs, it DOESN'T wipe your messages.

Titanium is good for apps but.unless you're doing a full restore, its messy for messages. Personally I use sms backup+ which sends all my.messages to a gmail label

Titanium Backup + SMS Backup & Restore.
SwiftKeyed from dGB using Transparent XDA App
MyBackup Pro restores all apps and messages, contacts etc etc and is very simple to use. I actually bought it but curiouly if you get MyBackup Root this appears to work without time restriction (Pro version has a 30 day trial).
Titanium Backup for apps...
Sms Backup + for sms/mms...
Normal Google sync for contacts...
And your sdcard for your photos

Only thing that will do a FULL and COMPLETE backup of everything is a nandroid backup through recovery.

[Q] help with getting data after flashing a rom

Im a beginner to flashing roms. Started to root my galaxy s3 and was a success the first time around. After I backup my apps and datas, contacts etcs with titaniumbackup free version. Then I flashed the CM10 everything went smooth. Successfully restoring my apps but I cannot restore my data such as, contacts, texts msg, email accounts other than gmail. Anyone know the reason why this is happening or maybe use a different backup app? Any tips, suggestions would be helpful.
As of right now back to Tmobile stock-rooted jb 4.1
I recommend MyBackup Pro to do app and data backups - allows me to restore my data with the app.

glad this wasnt an IMEI issue lol, hope you find a solution
Restore the data from "contacts storage". Go to backup/restore find it in the list and tap it. Hit restore, data only.
For texts I use SMS backup & restore. TB didn't seem to work well.
Titanium Backup doesn't backup your SMS automatically. Go into Titanium Backup, press menu, and then hit backup data to XML. This will allow you to backup your call log, SMS/MMS, Bookmarks, and even your Wifi Access points.

1) In my opinion yes, I change it from Titanium Backup
2) MyBackup Root support Apps + data
And about Super Backup - SMS and Logs are stored in XML file - that you can menage it from PC. Contats are in VCF format and can be simple use in other devices.

I dont backup sms etc so dont need that app.
I earlier used titanium backup but its too slow and at times unresponsive.
Then i tried app backup and restore. Its fast but it doesnot back up ( apps + data )
Now gonna try my backup root.
Btw did u exactly understood what i meant by app + data ?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda app-developers app
I think yes - Apps and data don't backup in one file. You can restore only App, only data or App+data
Go backup is the best one. And its free!!
Apps+data, calls, wifi, msgs, call logs, all in one.
If u get the paid version u can have wallpaper, settings and online backup too.
E.g if i restore xda app, it wont ask to login again and go directly to favourites.. i want that kind of app.
Titanium backup can do that but as i already mentioned its a bitslow.
"App backup and restore" only backs up app. I.e like downloading an app...
Does Go backup restores app+data or only app ?

Spoiler.
You try it.
I have tried many(believe me) apps an thats the one I settled on!
Ok thanks !! Gonna try it for sure then

Newbie - how do I keep apps and configuration in between flashing roms

I know it is a very newbie question, but how can I keep all the apps and configuration when I switch between roms? Does restoring from nandroid backup will restore the phone and configuration to back how it was? Thanks

nandroid backup will not keep the game data. use titanium backup that's the easiest way

Titanium backup will do the trick but sometimes when restoring old data I've had some issues with lots of force closes and some other unexplainable strange things going on. It's best to start fresh on a new rom.
Titanium backup is your answer
If you back up apps and data from your personally installed apps, restoring should not cause any problems. If you try to backup and restore system apps and data across different roms (ie tw and aosp), you're likely to experience some problems.
When it comes to system data, it can be hit or miss. Generally the only thing that will likely break is contacts, as each provider (samsung, htc) puts their own spin on it, and it tends to not be compatible. but if you use google to store your contacts, you should be golden. After some time you'll know which parts are compatible across all roms (within the same version family).
So, backup everything you want to keep. And make a full nandroid.
Install your new rom.
Restore your personal apps and data (like angry birds)
Make sure everything is golden.
Make a nandroid
One by one, restore any system data you want (like accounts, wifi access points, mms).
After each one, go through a reboot cycle, make sure everything works.
Nandroid and restore next system data
This way you can easily back out of a restore that breaks something without having to start over again. And you will get a feel for what's restorable and what isnt.
Beware changing back to 4.1 from 4.2. There are threads on this worth reading.
And, yes, nandroid will restore everything just like you had it, assuming you choose to backup -everything- (which is advisable).
