[Q] how to backup gprs access point settings? - Desire General

Is there any easy way to backup the gprs/mms access point settings on desire? it took me quite a while to get it working on my phone, and i am hoping i can backup / restore fairly easily.
my desire is rooted, and have titinumn backup install, but not too sure which one contain the gprs/mms setup information. or is the setting saved on a specific cfg/ini file that i can just copy & paste in the future?

There are applications on the Market that can backup and restore APNs.

Dave

Restore Titanium Backup without root OR easy temp. root app?

Hey folks,
when i backup'd all my stuff on my rooted g1 i totally forgot that titanium backup needs root access to work!
now i have all those files backed up but no easy way to temp. root my desire z and can't find another way to restore the backups .. (not only the apps, more important the data of them and sms)
Is there any app for phone or computer who can do this without root? i guess no? or am i missing the super1clickeasytemporaryroot app?
No, I don't think there is a way to take the files created by Titanium Backup, and restore system-level data, like your call logs or SMS. If you still have your G1 handy, install a utility like SMS Backup and Restore (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore). Use it to create a backup in XML format, transfer the file over to your DZ, then use the same app to restore your messages.
Sprint screwed me with 4.24.651.1
cant root this new phone with this new software. SO I cant restore from Titanium backup. Any ideas that aren't to complicated? I'm not all that tek savy

[Q] How to manually restore application data?

Hi,
i had a corrupt nandroid backup but i managed to extract some data from the data.img.
Now i start from the scratch with a new rom and i have an old Titanium Backup of my apps which i already restored.
But the current entries of the applications are stored only in the nandroid. I have no other backup.
I managed to extract the folder data/data in which most application data is stored. When i now try to rename the folder of e.g. "My Car" from \data\data\com.aguirre.android.mycar.activity to OLDcom.aguirre.android.mycar.activity and restore the folder from my nandroid the application crashes. When i rename OLD to com.aguirre.android.mycar.activity to get my old state back everything works fine.
I already tried that (replace the database) months ago with the calendar but it failed too. Why? What does Titantium when restoring application data? Where is the difference?
thanks
Okay the permissions are the problem!
How can i
- change the user and group in root explorer
- change this settings recursive
I now granted everything to all folders and files of com.aguirre.android.mycar.activity and it works.
But how can i get the correct permissions!?

Backup CyanogenMod Specific Settings

Apparently, Titanium Backup can not make a backup of all the cyanogenmod specific system settings. Within Titanium Backup, there is a system file called CM SETTINGS but it does not contain the necessary data to perform a restore on the cyanogenmod specific system settings.
Is there a way to manually copy the settings? Does anyone know what files would need to be backed up? I am getting really tired of redoing all my custom Light Levels for the Automatic Brightness when I do a full system wipe.
Best Regards.
I can't think of where it is off the top of my head but I think those are in secure_settings.db
You will probably run into parsing errors because this database is build on the first boot
I was wrong. Titanium Backup is capable of doing a complete restore on all the cyanogen specific settings. I just had to use a Batch restore and select everything instead of trying to restore manually each piece at a time. Great.

Didn't work for me.
For some reason, the normal settings are Backed up and restored, but not cyanogen. The icons are there, and are all selected.
For me it worked without any Problems
The critical system components are "green". Make sure you backup those before you try to restore the cyanogenmod specific settings. I think the latest version of Ti Backup now backs up the wallpaper settings in another system component.

I9000 & Titanium Backup

Just a very quick question, as I can't find an answer on forums.
When running a backup with Titanium which is the best approach?
1. Back-up all User Apps and System with Data
2. Back-up just User Apps with Data?
The reason im asking is if System Apps with Data is not selected, i presume that I will not have all text, emails and preferences that I have setup?
Can someone correct me if im wrong
Thanks,
1st option, backup all user apps. I found it's safe to backup & restore wifi access points also (although not between CM and stock ROM), other system data ain't safe. You have SMS backup & restore for SMS's, no idea for E-email (I use Gmail), preferences should be set again manually just to be safe.

[Q] Recover / back up HTC Wildfire s

How to Recover / back up HTC Wildfire s ???
Anyone can help me please
First of all why would you make two threads with same question but different title in the same section? :X
Here's your answer:
Contacts: Sync to google or go to contacts and export the contacts. Copy the file from memory card to pc.
Messages: download sms backup and restore app from market or use titanium backup if you have root.
Apps: If you have root you can easily backup all the apps and data by using titanium backup or you can use app's options to backup (might not have).
Nandroid: If you are looking to install a new rom, you may make a nandroid backup from cwm to restore it later on.
Also don't forget to copy all sd card data to pc.
