Scoot CyanogenMod 6.1.2 RLS6
This is a build i have compiled from the official CyanogenMod source files and adapted for Kaiser/Vogue. Feel free to give it a go at your own risk!
All the usual things are working.
**THIS BUILD WORKS BEST WITH RECENT 2.6.32 KERNELS**
The build includes all the latest modules for the latest 2.6.32 kernels. If you wish to use an older kernel remember to apply the appropriate module update that goes with it.
I have attached a kernel to this post which I personally use if you get stuck. Don't forget to modify it with ATools with your preferred settings.
All of this is thanks to the guys working on the CyanogenMod roms and of course, none of this would work without all the hard work on the kernel so big thanks to dzo, l1q1d etc...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RLS4c :
Re-added YouTube app (Working a little better)
Removed HTC keyboard (available as an update)
Fixed Market
Fixed Android Keyboard text prediction
Updated Google Apps
Removed & added some sounds
Added CyanogenMod TS Calibration App
Added DSP Manager
Merged latest changes from CyanogenMod repo
RLS 5a:
Updated ADW Launcher 1.3.3
Messaging/Phone sliders on lockscreen (Enabled in 'Cyanogen Settings-Input Settings')
Dismiss notifications by swiping
Updated Terminal Emulator app
Updated Google Apps
Removed 'Reboot' option (It doesn't work on our phones)
Configured to work with the latest 2.6.32 Kernels
Many Modifications and fixes
Merged latest changes from CyanogenMod repo
Fixed Lock Screen Gestures
Fixed some typos in a couple of the apps
Cleaned up some files
RLS5.5 :
No major changes, mainly changes in the build environment and behind the scenes
Speed improvements
Rotary lockscreen
RLS6 :
Updated to the latest 6.1.2 stable source
(Not much has changed CyanogenMod wise, changes are mainly in the AOSP Froyo source)
Updated to the latest zram (Compcache) module (enabled by default)
Updated to the latest Google Apps (Most are now in a separate update file below)
Gmail, market and quicksearch is still included as well as all the necessary frameworks
This is a complete rebuild from scratch because I lost the old stuff so some things may be different, let me know if you find anything weird
I've done all I can to optimise this build and get the size down

2.6.32 Kernel built from the latest source
is your kernel overclocked because ADW keeps reloading on me on my vogue, i tried everything i could to get it to work too, (eg using the sysinit from the original port, along with the original launcher.apk from that build, also having it zip align on first boot the problem persists

I haven't had that issue yet, my Kaiser kernel is overclocked to 500MHz. Admittedly i do set ADW to a single screen and only have a few widgets loaded so it's not too memory hungry. Do you mean restarting as in being closed to save memory or it's crashing? There are a couple of options you can try to keep it in memory, one in ADW's settings (System Preferences/System Persistent) or in Cyanogenmod Settings there is an option to lock the homescreen in memory somewhere.

basically the screen loads, then it blanks out and reloads the home screen again, i cant even get into the settings to change the amount of screens or the system persistent, i feel your over clock might have something to do with it

Ok, i'll look into it, worked fine first time on my kaiser but i did modify the androidinstall.tar before installing. It could also be a widget that loads by default which is the issue so i'll try removing them.
@thoughtlesskyle: that's due to the external-skia!! libskia.so is crashing (same for me when compiling from cm-source). I had to take out BLIT optimizations from skia to get it half working (browser still crashes). Though I am talking for my port on HTC Diamond & Co.!!!

I know there are issues with skia, but what is different between the vogue and kaiser hardware which means it doesn't crash on the Kaiser. I did make some modifications to skia so it would compile for our processors.
I don't even have a clue! It must be something kernel-related cause I tried so many things on my HTC Diamond and couldn't bug that out...

That's good, i appreciate your help I would say that the kernel is probably the problem, cyanogenmod kernels for many phones are now up to 2.6.35. I am using a recently compiled 2.6.32 kernel and things seem ok. Keep up the good work with you build, i like it a lot.
much appreciated! thx
could you plz link the needed ril for .25-kernel to complete your thread, as on polaris cam isnt working with .32-kernel and most of us are kind of forced to use older kernel, when using cam now and then.
thx again!

I'm going to test the build with a 2.6.25 kernel tomorrow as i think there may be compatability issues with older kernels and the CyanogenMod builds which will make it unusable on anything other then the latest 2,6,32 kernel. However, if these can be resolved i will post an update with the necessary files to run an older kernel.
RLS 1
I have tidied a few things up with the build and uploaded a new release.
I have tested with an old 2.6.25 kernel and it isn't pretty, so it's 2.6.32 or nothing with this one at the minute i'm afraid.
Hi Sooter1556
Can you post some sprints?
It's safe overclock to 500mhz?

I've got my Kaiser overclocked to 500Mhz, have had for while without issue, but obviously it's at your own risk. Should be fine though.

im glad it was the kernel then
Thanks for your build, I'm using right now with the 10/19/2010 l1qu1d kernel, and I think it's quite good. Would love to see what comes next with this port.
Thanks again!!

Glad you like it, i'm still tweaking stuff. I've disabled JIT by default and got compcache to work when altered in cyanogenmod settings. Disabling JIT and restarting the phone improved performance a lot. I've also changed some low memory parameters and i have had no home screen reloads and it's pretty snappy. I've also fixed the music app for the next release.Still working on bits and pieces so i'll upload a new release soon with the fixes/updates.
How to configure?
Hi Scooter,
Good and fast build, I use it through HaRET.
How can I configure the "LAB" & "RAB" as other builds. In mine is just display without any fiunction assigned to them? please in NOOB steps. I'm new here.
also, how can add a new kernel to my andboot folder? when I overwrite the original one with newer one, it hangs! is there any configs/files need to be changed?
thanks for help.

This ROM is a mish-mash of Vanilla Gingerbread & CM7, and is compiled from the latest CyanogenMod 7 sources. It will be regularly maintained with the latest commits from the CM guys, and our own VillainROM tweaks and changes. This ROM is starting to take shape, and differing from the stock CM7 build.
Anyway, before we begin - I'd like to thank the entire CyanogenMod team for the epic and consistently BRILLIANT work, for without it, this, and many other ROMs would not be possible. Well done guys - You deserve all the credit. I'd also like to thank Ninpo for his CM6.1 work, and the rest of the VillainROM developers & staff (Pulser, HomerSP, Kendon, Shen, Lenny, Acolwill, dmzda, Revoked, McDuck, etc)
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
To flash this ROM, you will NEED to have ClockworkMod 3.0 installed, which manages EXT4 partitions. If at any stage you need to revert back to a Froyo ROM, you will need to reflash /boot into CWM 2.X via Fastboot.
1. Download ClockworkMod 3.0 from here
2. Boot the phone into Fastboot mode by holding Volume Down and pressing power
3. From terminal/command prompt, type:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
OR... alternatively, just fastboot boot into CWM 2.X to revert to a Froyo backup.
4. Boot into recovery (adb reboot recovery ... or Hold camera and press power)
5. Perform a FULL DATA/CACHE WIPE (only if coming from Froyo)
6. Install Zip from SD Card, and select GingerVillain1.4-signed.zip
1.4 Known Bugs:
1. Enabling screen on/off animations and OC/UV at the same time causes lag when trying to turn the screen on. The animations work fine without overclock... so it's oone or the other right now I'm afraid.
Download links are HERE!
If you're a fan of the ROM.. thank us with a 5 star rating!
thanks will flash soon. in the meantime posting a mirror at my blog.
So you bit off Cyanogen, called it your own, and are (albeit politely) requesting donations?

You know Cyanogen already talked about this before and apparently you didn't read it or get the message that this is what being on an Open OS system is about. Please read around or at least think before you snap at people for no reason.

Wow, just stop, lol. If people feel like donating for the things OUTSIDE of the CM stuff in here, then that's great. This isn't just cm7 compiled from source, labeled GingerVillain, and saying "Donate plzzzz"
Honestly, I've been using the other cm7 builds, but WOW. This build is SUPER smooth, at only 806mhz!! It's definitely going to be a keeper if it maintains this. Don't know about battery, obviously, but for anyone who has been using the other ones .. the modifications by Villain definitely make this thing fly. No DSP though, or StatusBar widgets, before people ask.
I hate you NP.....

BTW, I'm not knocking any of the other cm7 builds. They are definitely awesome, and I love that the Android community does what it does.

wi-fi problems?
Just flashed it. Looks great! However, when I turn on wifi to setup my Google account, restore apps, etc., it stays on for a few seconds (won't show any of the open networks in my building) then just turns off.
Also Twitter sync doesn't work (try to sync Twitter with existing contacts but it automatically switches to option back to 'Don't Sync')
Anyone else having this problem or know a solution?

I can't tell ya what ROM to run, obviously, but to me, this is leaps and bounds beyond the ones that are just direct/simply cm7 builds, as those have no real enhancements. This build, runs amazing actually. Screen shots, it's really just stock vanilla. The only thing different, is the background. Just head to the other Villain ROM (senseless) threads, and you'll see what the bg/boot animation look like.
Also comes pre-packed with GB keyboard, along with GB launcher. Smokin' fast.

Hello !
After nearly 18 months using various roms made by various brilliant people i have learnt allot, and today i have spent all day making my own rom and i am proud to share it with everyone.
I have tested on my phone and there are no issues, atleast no issues i can fix...
The History of this ROM dates back to the dev AdamG, I believe this ROM was once the "OxyGen" ROM which I was a fan of and used on the HTC Desire I once used to own, so this ROM is kinda nostalgic for me LOL

Features
Tytungs GPS Libs 2.1 NMEA
Warrens Awesome Desire 2.6.35 Kernel.
ROBOTO Fonts !.
Old Hacked Market (Just means it wont self update and can see all apps).
Dorimanx's Awesome Memory tweaks, these tweaks allow for more apps to run all the time in memory and the Net effect is... more of that ram gets used instead of wasted.
And the usual..
De-odexed
Zipaligned
Rooted
BusyBox
A2SD+
Cache2SD
Nano Text Editor Support
Bash Shell Support
Huge APN List
Init.d Support
Android 2.3.4
Screen DPI 192
Very Slim - <100 100 MB, you could infact use a 10/100/5 or 5/100/5 partition layout
I will now explain the philosophy of the rom.
Its about keeping Android just... Android and nothing else. Let the user choose how to use the phone, Android is all about customising and choosing how we want to use the phone, so removing every single app that can be replaced or installed from market is just the first step.
Under the hood, this rom has all the goodies you come to expect from modern HD2 Roms, It has the tweaks but it is kept conservative, STABILITY is the primary focus, this rom is still franticly fast but any tweak or any setting that subtracts from stability is out the window.
Before posting this rom i have used the 2.6.35 kernel for two weeks using AOSP android and i can say without a doubt it is stabil, the only thing is its not 100% finished thus the camera and bluetooth issues, but at least the camera can be replaced.
Issues
Kernel Has Camera Issues, so stock camera app is no good, please install the free app called "Camera Fun" and you can take pictures again. The App has different modes, select Normal for Normal pics.
Bluetooth may or may not work for your device.
Install Instructions
First of all, use the attached 4EXT recovery and make sure your sd-ext is using EXT4, it helps with data loss prevention and speed.
Next, after booting up the first time the market is not visible in the app list until you add a google account.
First thing you need to install is "SuperUser" true to the philosophy it is not included in the system apps
After its installed root will work perfectly, and update the SU binary when you get a chance.
Please update the adfree hosts with adfree app or after the rom has been running for a few hours you will get major battery drain, the old adfree host file blocks google analytics, it keeps trying over and over and thus the battery drain.
Enjoy !

Oh sorry when my op got half deleted i forgot to put that back.
Its actually the kernel it has camera issue.
Please install the application free called camera fun but there is no camcorder support in kernel yet.
I'm going to make a dorimanx kernel pack for users to help out.
And I'll also attach the camera apk.
Ok, edited the cwm zip so it has the right file-name for modules and removed its libaudio.so since when I have changed it myself the ROM wont boot.
Try it and let me know how it goes.
Another thing, do a backup before you flash the kernel...

It's testing and still WIP release so there still could be bugs.
This is compiled from sources (not ported binaries) version of CM 7.2 done by me using some of drapalyuk work.
In my opinion is much smoother and responsive than the 7.1 version (I did not tested ported 7.2 as I don't trust ported versions xd).
If you were using 7.1 version you dont need to make a wipe but it is advised - otherwise it is obligatory.
Rom is using mine kernel in version specifc for this ROM.
Please do not use any other kernel as it may cause problems with camera and video playback
Working
Almost everything including:
Bluetooth
USB thether with stock app
Haptic feedback (thanks to cjr123)
Camera preview & video
Headset button
Offline charging
Not working
Some problems with BT audio on phone call
Instalation:
Download zip to your phone
Get the Custom Recovery for p350
Reboot into recovery
Backup your whole phone (if you like risk you can ommit this step )
Wipe data, cache and dalivk cache (You dont need to if you are upgrading from previous release - but it may cause some bugs so it is advised anyway)
Choose Flash zip menu
Flash downloaded zip
Reboot and enjoy

CM in 7.2-RC0 version
Worked like a charm, thanks, I have been trying to get custom ROM on my ME for a long time!
wow, that's great. I'll wait until the fix 100%, and will definitely use it. thanks for CM7.2
wow
Wow! Cyanogen compiled from sources! Great.
Please make it free of Bugs . It will be the best ROM ever.
Thanks!
Whats next? Did you try compiling ICS?
I tried with partial success - compiled but not booting.
Now im fixing this version and then will come back to ICS

OK Im waiting
I tried the P500 ported version on my girlfriends phone but it had a few problems I noticed:
1. the haptic feedback doesn't work on the bottom softkeys (menu, home, back, search)
2. when in-call pulling up the dialpad to input some numbers, the last line (with keys #0*) is not visible, which is a shame because she needs them to input pre-paid card codes.
Can anyone confirm if these things are or aren't working on this version?
Another question not directly related to this particular ROM - is it possible to get the stock LG keyboard? The reason she needs it is because it has 4x3 keyboard in portrait mode, which is useful on such a small screen, and all the other 4x3 keyboards I have tried from the market don't support language-specific symbols. I tried to find some .APK in the backups I made of the stock ROM, but no filename seemed to relate to a keyboard.
Thanks in advance, appreciate your work!
Im waiting too!!!!

for 1. do this:
Code:
1. open root explorer or another file browser
2. go to /system/usr/keylayout und mount with r/w
3. open the file qwerty.kl with texteditor
4. change the BACK, MENU, SEARCH, HOME values from WAKE_DROPPED or WAKE to VIRTUAL
5. save the file
6. restart your phone
7. don´t forget to activate haptic feedback in cyanogen settings
for 2. use this phone.apk:
mediafire.com/?6wreiul8c3s42rz
Thanks for the Haptic Feedback fix, I will try it and integrate in next release
For the keyboard - in this rom it should be okay - if it is not please let me know!
BTW: New release with BT and USB Tethering

Good luck my friend.
Now testing the new update.
So in theory, this should be smoother and better than the one ported from P500... Correct?
Sent from my Optimus Me using XDA App
Thanks for the solutions. Any ideas on where to look for the stock keyboard app (what to look for in the backup files)?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
There are 3 MENU values in kwerty.kl, whitch one to change? when i change all to VIRTUAL home button doesn't work at all....

yes, also there should be no problems with oversized GUI as this is made for LDPI.
The second thing is that CM 7.2 is still in progress and now compiling Nightly build is piece of cake and with port you should wait for the port build and then port it.
Also there could be bugs which cannot be solved without compiling native version
sweet...
re-downloading because the zip DL'ed directly to phone presented a problem and doesn't boot... its stuck in the tux screen.. can get into recovery, though...

system/app/Settings.apk

I cant wait to see ics on lg pecan *__*
Funny thing, copied (again and again) to the SDCard and the verification failure happens on Settings.apk and on system/xbin/irssi.
Again and again because I keep DL'ing once again and again and keeps failing on those two... (Been doing it 6 times now, going for the 7th)
Camera preview FIX
Hi pax0r, I've found the fix for the blank camera preview:
1. extract the file copybit.pecan.so from /system/lib/hw in vivek's 7.2ROM to your sd card.
2.Open root explorer in your P350 and go to /system/lib/hw and erase copybit.msm7.so (dont forget to mount r/w)
3.With root explorer, copy the copybit.pecan.so into /system/lib/hw and set permisions to rw-r-r
4,Now it is working !
This is a port from the HeroC's Cyanogenmod 9 rom by whoshotjr2006 with a few tweaks.

I can't properly test it at the moment, but on the surface it seems very similar.

the error is harmless. it doesn't do anything. it's because the kernel was poorly packed but that doesn't mean it will not work.
for the language I don't know... I will still continue and make my own mod after porting is done from the same source as this one hence is the same source available for us. Add a little more tweaks from galaxy mini and rc2 will be available.
now everything is working with this gapps;
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120422-signed.zip
but red frame border is annoying me.
i see now that, the usb mounting not workin too.
and sorry, but shift on my pc keyboard doesn't work, i don't know why. it's not your fault of course ;p

I have tried it. Great rom but there are some a bit laggy. I hope that you will release the full one
awesome, glad to see you released this
bad news though, matt's evervolv has alot of problems, thats why i ported from the eris over in heroc land. those red borders arent going to go away, and i could never get camera working with official evervolv for heroc.
id say keep trying to port from eris, they have the most going on. or look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1693659 (cm9 from source for heroc) and try to port from that and add libs from eligo for eris.
Thank you for your work on the hero !

Thanks to:
- Miuiandroid.com for great base,
- @qriozum (aka Faka), @ajhavery, team Virtuous and for great kernels.
If you wanna take some parts of my rom to your own project I will not complain about this. I please only for info about what you get from my rom on your thread - that's all. I spend many hours to create this rom - so please respect this.
I take NO responsibility for any damage.
If you like my work you can buy me energy drink :silly:
CoolOS, i guess you are one of the best.
Your both roms were amazing.
Will flash this too and let you know my experiences.
By the way, still loving and running you GB MIUI.
Thanks again.

I would add for having a good balance Smoothness / battery.
Does this one will remain smooth after some weeks? that's the question I think!
@magikstar
Maybe soon I will add more Languages. Firstly I wanna change one thing in this rom.
@aryank
Try Faka 3.0.72 kernel it's really good.
@Kéno40
I added to my roms auto wipe dalvik-cache and cache after week of using - so no lag after long term of using.

Thanks. I will try but the SGS experience I had on this kind of ROm was that the system always slowed down, no matters if wiping of not....
I have flashed this Rom, but I didn't get an option to select kernel or any swaps.
It only gave an option for slim MIUI or full MIUI.
May be I should have selected slim right???
Also, I'm unable to change my themes, each time it asked me to create xiaomi account.
But still after creating an account, I wasn't able to change my theme, it said, sorry service is not available.
So even for applying theme do we need to create an account?
And ya, as you said, this Rom is smooth, but lags in multi tasking.
Browser, calls and msgs takes time to load up.
So till now this is what I have experienced.
Hope you'll take the development of this Rom a bit furture.
Thanks a lot for sharing your lovely creation.

If you wanna Customize your installation you should chose Customize Installation.
Your problem with themes is MIUI idea. Each time you wanna chose new theme you must active your internet connection - this is stupid think.
Miui v4 is heavy, so maybe some apps needs some time to load. I can lock some apps in memory to fast access but then you will get less ram to other apps.
Thanks a lot.
I guess your MIUI GB is my choice.
Faster, smoother & multitaskable. Overall GREAT...
It has most of the features of v4 too.
So reverting back to my MIUI GB nandroid.
Thanks for your help and support.
The only problem I've found is whenever the carrier shows up (I'm on AT&T), it shows "AT;ampT." I have a bad case of ocd. xD Other than that, yet another fantastic ROM.

Go to Control panel and change Carrier name. I can't fix this, because I can't recompile framework-miui-res.apk - really strange
Today I release version 1.2.1, this is changelog:
- locked Dialer, Contacts and Messages apps in memory - to fast access,
- fixed small lags after screen unlock.
Hi, i flashed this ROM to give feedback for the dev
Thanks for this nice MIUI ROM for this device, however i merely can test what works without SIM card
So...what i saw so far, it works quite smooth for the given RAM
No glitches so far
One reboot after i flashed it before i could configure it, but thats all i had so far
Besides that...i installed it with the htc keyboard and there i could not disable the haptic feedback, so i could disable it in the settings but when i got back it was enabled again
So far thanks again for the hard work, keep it up

ok, version 1.2.1 is up.
BTW
I compiled kernel from @qriozum 3.0.72 source, and I relocate ram from GPU to userspace and get +31MB of ram (standard 361MB - new kernel 392MB). Recording video in HD will not work, but 800x480 recording is fine, 3D performance is still good. I will share with this kernel soon.

What about graphics performance? Any glitches, or video playback or gaming performance?
Wont this hinder gpu performance. I mean, gpu handles them, so without gpu memory how is the performance.
Have you tried the kernel?
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using xda app-developers app
On Antutu, standard 3d score is about ~1800 with new kernel ~1750 (one test) sow no changes really. I tested Gta Vice city, and really no see diferrence, maybe less stutter because more ram for userspace. Playback videos on 720p works great.
Only disadvantage for now is no recording videos on 720p.
Getting huge graphical glitches in Google maps app, and play store shows the phone as T-Mobile Samsung GT-I9300, whats up with that
@up
Google maps glitches is probably caused by new Adreno libs (I will test it, and change that). Thx for reporting.
