So for some reason or another, after every reboot, 4G turns on by itself.
Needless to say, it drains battery for no good reason, and I don't know how to fix this.
Any suggestions or advice?

You are correct my friend. Throwing "swithpro" into my search immediately returned useful info.
Thanks.
Lucky you!
I can't enable 4g for the life of me... And I'm using SwitcherPro. Should I uninstall this?
switchpro used to automatically turn on 4g with me too so I uninstalled it. reinstalled it later after I sent some feedback to the dev and after a few revisions and all is good again. it does still turn on during boot up, but immediately turns off.
do you have the latest rev?

I haven't seen anything during my searching which suggests that switherpro interferes with actually connecting to 4G, but I can't know for sure.
I say, uninstall and see what happens

Not sure what the latest rev is. I've had it for a couple of months.
Either way, the "turn notification on/off" trick worked for me.
good deal. that trick didn't work for me.

Since I updated to the latest Fresh I've noticed 4G is always enabled by default with a reboot. I don't remember this ever happening before.
Anyone else experience this, and is there a way to disable it? I don't have 4G anywhere near me, and would like to not have to remember to disable it with every reboot....
Do you use switchPro widget? That happens to me when i use a sense rom and I restart if i have a switchpro widget out.
Same here : whenever I reboot the phone 4G is enabled... I don't reboot my phone that often but I keep remembering to turn it off.

I was blaming my 4g widget as well. Do we know this for a fact though? I havent taken the time to test.
A Fix?
Hey fellas,
I just put on the FreshEvo 3.4 on my EVO.
Now I have the '4g enabled at boot' issue.
Did you find any solution to this issue?
Thanks,
Ian
I don't use Fresh. But I was using the "Quick Settings" app. I noticed that it automatically turned on 4G on boot. Then it would constantly try to turn it on throughout the day randomly.
Everything was fine until the last update of Quick Settings.
AH HA!
[update: I uninstalled quicksettings too. No go. doing a power-on still has the 4G enabled.]
I have removed beautiful widgets and extended controls, which were new installs after FreshEvo.
Hmmm... well, the QuickSettings (which has beena GREAT app) dev comes out with updates all the time.
I'll try contacting him about the issue...
Thanks for mentioning that as an issue!!! I'll try freezing the app (thanks to Titanium) and reboot and see if that fixes the issue.

I am fairly sure that is the issue. It even happens when taking your phone out of Airplane mode. I've watched as 4G tries to fire up after taking it off. Hopefully the dev will release another update so I can go back to using Quick Settings.
still an issue...
I froze beautiful widgets and QuickSettings (using Titanium). Did a reboot, 4G on soon as the phone came up.
I'll keep searching. Please let me know if you have any other suggestions. The perils of rooting, I guess! LOL
How can I check if there is a problem with my 4G? When I turn on 4G, it automatically turns off after about 10 seconds. I've tried using it in several places that have 4G coverage, but the same thing always happens. Can someone tell me how I can check if there is a problem and what can be done to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Look at my sticky. Might have lost your RSA Keys.
joeykrim just released an app that checks your rsa keys for you, it works great.

Sweet! Thanks for the help! The app says my keys ARE present. I ran it a couple times to be sure, each time getting the same result. I still don't understand why my 4G turns off.

Does it turn off right away after you turn it on? Do you have SwitchPro or System Info Widget installed? Both of them have been known to cause that. System Info Widget was doing it to me. Uninstall and re-download it and it should clear it up.

THANK YOU!!! Worked like a charm! Greatly appreciated.
I tried 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 and they both do the same thing. Whenever I am in Airplane mode wifi will not turn on. I press the button and it just freezes in the on position and then nothing happens. Never had this problem on any other rom. Any Suggestions?

Does that only apply to EB13? DK28 and DI18 never had this problem. The only reason I ask is because I live in an area where I get no service and my battery drains 3x as fast if I dont have Airplane mode on.

I never tested it much in previous versions, but I can confirm it occurs across EB13. The setting is tweakable at a low level - and I question why Samsung didn't include it in Settings, and why even Spare Parts doesn't tweak it.

Thanks for the feedback k0nane, Im overseas right now so anything but airplane mode is an instant battery drain if I want to use Wifi. I figured this was Samsung's fault now I know. Here's to hoping EC05 fixes it, though I have my doubts.
Given that your aware of it, do you think it is something you guys (the awesome Devs) will be able to fix with time?

Yes. Thereotically, it's as simple as a settings.db change - I'm looking at it for 1.1.0.

Cool, Your my hero! Thanks again for your awesome work.
You might be able to toggle it under the testing mode (dial settings).
if I remember correctly it is something like:
#*INFO##4444# might be able to shut off all cellular connections, but still keep wifi and gps open.

That would be absolutely perfect. This is the only problem I am having with your Rom. If its fixed I will definately donate to the cause. Your Rom is by far the smoothest, fastest one out.

This did seem to work, the correct code is *#INFO*1111#
Under the Phone info menu I turned off the radio. Now I can be out of airplane mode but don't seem to be losing any battery to cell standby, only display and phone idle.
Thanks for the suggestion, this will get me by for the week. Im out of thanks for the day but I owe you one =)
Edit: Thanked you properly

Wifi is a constant love to have on my phone, i need it working like ASAP, please help.
OK, I have Odin'ed twice, and wiped the poor little phone so many times I'm gonna need to use Desitin. It does not matter, I have pretty much tried every 4.2.2 ROM out there, and although I have had one or two that I could initially get bluetooth to turn on, even those would fail to do so after a few hours. I've tried rebooting with it on, rebooting with it off, does not matter. The last few AOKP and CM nightlies as well as Jedi, it will not even turn on. I have seen a few folks state somewhat similar issues, but I am getting that it is not pervasive for the community. Does anybody have any ideas as to a fix, or, even any ideas as to what causes it, so maybe I can play around with whatever and try myself? Or, best case-scenario, did anybody have the issue on ROM ABC and discover that by switching to ROM XYZ it was fixed? I'm not updating my sig because it changes multiple times a day anyway, but I am back to CWM 6.0.2.7 from TWRP if that variable matters at all. Same situation whether on stock, Cerux or ASD kernel.TIA...

I works on the 2/26/13 Nightly of CM10.1. You wanna try and clean flash it? If it doesn't work then it's just a problem with your phone hardware instead of the software. Might be a buddy bluetooth adapter or such.

Fingers crossed, so far so good. I reinstalled Rootbox which is awesome. I changed from CWM back to TWRP and also installed Cerux 1.42 which in the thread made mention of the bluetooth issue being fixed, and being kernel, not ROM related. I am using crossbreeder which makes things crazy fast. I saw the "nos script" in some thread but couldn't find it with a Google search. Do you have a link for it and what exactly does it do?
Edit: Crap. it went away. Oh well, back to 4.1. Hellybean it is. I just don't get it. BT works fine on any 4.1 or ICS ROM. Only thing with 4.1 is music skips in my music player but I can live with that, I can't live with no BT. Thanks for your help. Maybe when source drops it will be all good.
Does ithe bt button turn on then instantly off when you press it? This happened to me and i went into recovery and wipe dalv n cache.. Worked perfectly after

Well, what seems to happen is it is fine for 15-30 minutes after I've freshly installed the ROM, then it just turns off. When I then try to turn it back on it hangs at "turning on" and then goes back to off. At that point when I click "turn on", it doesn't even move. I'm a gonna try the fix, nothing to lose at this point...
Nuts. It fast moves to on and immediately goes back to off. White flag, thanks to all.
Apply the fix and delete all you devices then try turning it on and off with nothing on it...if it works then add devices one by one...if you have devices married to it the patch might not work also I think my computer dongle was the culprit

I found one thing that at least gets it working again without rebooting is to activate airplane mode. Its faster than rebooting. Wish I had a better answer...
Sorry if this is posted somewhere, I did search quite a bit. Anyway, my wife's z2 force WiFi Keeps turning off by itself. I set it to always stay on even, still does it. Rebooted, still there. This is a big problem because we ran through all of our data (Verizon) because we didn't know for a while. Anyone else experiencing this? Any fix? Please and thanks!

None of the above. It's stock, with a few apps she likes such as Facebook and Pinterest. Nothing that would do that.
Pure speculation, as I don't own the Verizon model, take it for what it's worth...
It sounds like Verizon software is handling this. Having previously owned both ATT and Verizon devices, I know how they love slapping their seemingly helpful "data manager" apps into the stock system apps. Usually these apps can--and often will--by default handle wireless hand-off settings.
This is where I would look first. If your not rooted, I'm not sure what your options are to block this type of app, especially if it was installed as "system", but you might get lucky, and be able to freeze it or at least deny it permissions.
Again, all speculation. I'd be really interested to know if I'm close though.
Edit: You also might look into your build.prop settings. I haven't manually poked into these since honeycomb, so I won't be much help here, but I'm sure someone here can point you at the right variables inside build.prop to see if there's an "oopsie". Again, just a thought.
