[Q] Windows Phone 7 port feasibility? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It seems like Windows Phone 7's baseline spec is pretty much equivalent to the internals of the Droid Incredible. That being said, is it even remotely possible that a Windows Phone 7 rom could be loaded on the Incredible?
Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this question

[Q] Windows phone 7 port?

So, now that windows phone 7 is out, is there any chance of us getting a port for the rhodium? I realize every windows phone 7 phone has a snapdragon and the os is pretty resource extensive, but is it possible, mindful of the performance degradation?
As has been said in the dozen other threads on the same subject...no.

You're kidding; yes? It makes no sense to try; however maybe the HD2.
tbh the OS is very complex and idk how itll behave on a storage card if youre talking about a port like XDANDROID, its very possible but itll need some serious time to optimize and be able to run flawless on our TP2s
Logical Answer (No Point)
Even if it were possible for developers to dedicate their time to yet another major long-term project, why would they when the hardware necessary to use WP7 isn't supported on Windows Mobile devices or if they found a work-around it wouldn't work as good.
I think the fact that we have Android is good enough, WP7 is a fresh OS and deserves better. — It's the same mentality as people who use OSX Visual Styles on their Windows 7 machines, it makes no sense or the people who use the iPhone or now WP7 overlay app on their device.
As much as I love the touch pro 2 for it's solid build quality and amazing keyboard; let's be honest, the smudgy resistive screen isn't nice compared with a capacitive AMOLED screen and many other reasons why WP7 wouldn't be as glamorous as on a new device.
*Also, look how long it took the team to get Android to run to a usable/enjoyable point, by that time Froyo was already released and you could have made enough money to go out and buy a brand new Android device. — With WP7 the project will be even longer in my opinion, as there are more components to think about in regards to how the OS operates and functions. (No 'expandable' SD-card, can only sync via Zune software and many other barriers)
*-No disrespect to any of the XDAndroid team you all did an awesome job, just pointing out the fact that delays and issues are to be expected, so WP7 would just be an even greater headache which isn't worth it, might as well start a WP7 project fresh with WP7 hardware then the fun can begin.

Run Android on WinMo 7

I have followed XDA for quite some time and have been waiting for someone to get a little bored with android like myself and start the modding of the new WinMo 7 phones to run both Android and WinMo 7. I can't find anything on it. Is it just not possible (yet)??? I know the devices can handle it...1ghz, 16gb internal, plenty of memory...Vibrant, etc. Seems like the perfect device for a dual boot Eclair/Froyo and WinMo 7. Windows Mobile 6x running Android is old and the 1st one I did was the Tytn II by HTC. Slow, but it was still nice to have both.
Any Devs out there wanna push this? I'll buy hardware and do any tests wanted. Seems Samsung specs are pretty equal between the Vibrant and Focus or even like the port of Android to the HD2...can it be done using the HD7 from T-Mo?
In the case of Samsung, why wouldn't you just get the Captivate (Galaxy S)? Already has Android. The Focus is basically the same phone...

why start from ZERO when HD2 is already running Android pretty smoothly and will be getting wp7 soon? Not to bash or anything but wp7 may not be as easy to tinker with as compared to wm6.

[Q] iphone port to touch pro 2?

just wanted to know would it EVER be posible to port iphone to the touch pro 2?!?
i doubt that porting the iphone to the touch pro2 would be possible, just like WinMob 7, the hardware for the Touch Pro2 is completely different and unable to operate The apple OS and Win7 OS
iOS is closed source code, and its not designed for the hardware. A huge amount of work would need to be done to make it run on the TP2. Possibly not even legal, since its closed source. If nobody has been working on it to this point, its unlikely to happen this late in the life cycle of the TP2. Nothing is truly "impossible", but this is probably pretty close to being impossible!

Are there any Developers for WP7 custom roms or Android ports on other WP7 Devices???

I have my Omnia 7 since 2 months and I wonder why there are not a custom Firmware or a Android port or something else like this.
I thought the Device is very Similar to the HTC HD7 (except the integrated Memory) . And so why are there so less experience and interesting in the portation and jailbreaking of this WP7 devices.
On the HTC Devices the HSPL is hacked and you can have an jailbreaked firmware on it but on Optimus and the Omnia aren´t any interesting tools or OS to try.

hacked HSPL on HD7: wp7connect.com/2011/08/01/dft-flashes-mango-7720-on-hd7-then-releases-tool-for-custom-roms
to the Developers ,hackers and other people that can make it:
Please make an Custom Rom , an Android port or a jailbreak for Mango.
My Omnia 7 is like a prisoner.

someone is going to "android sucks" or "omg noooo android laaagsss!" Or otherwise try to shout down your question... but the video clearly shows it works well. I would imagine the developers see very little benefit in working hard to get android rom on any wp7 device for two reasons, related to each other:
1 there are not many wp7 devices or users to install it
2 there are TONS of android devices already to play on
If the device in the video is a clone of the hd7 or not doesn't really matter to me. Phones have such similar hardware now its hard to not call any of them a clone or knockoff.
I don´t think that the devices are not popular enough for a portation, even the unknown Vodafone 360 (Samsung H1 and M1) has there own Android ports samsungi8320.freeforums.org/h1droid-f2.html .
And i think thats not so hard to port the Android Version from the Galaxy S or the Desire to the Omnia 7 , Optimus 7 or other 7 series based Devices from similar Android devices. The only problem (i read it on a website) is the bootloader but the HSPL was hacked by the HTC devices.
So my question:
Why there no Android Roms for Windows Phones (even the iPhone has Android roms I don´t think that the devices are not popular enough for a portation, even the unknown Vodafone 360 (Samsung H1 and M1) has there own Android ports samsungi8320.freeforums.org/h1droid-f2.html .

So my question:
Why there no Android Roms for Windows Phones (even the iPhone has Android roms youtube.com/watch?v=zEQ5E_IaKTo&feature=related ) the Bootloader was hacked by DFT (this Team make the CF foor HTC 7 devices and the WP7 for the famous HD2).
And why there no custom Roms for non HTC devices like LG or Samsung, I thought there many other talented developers for it?
Edit:
I found the HD7 with Android on ebay: ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170569978287&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com.au%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D170569978287%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%
Er, just buy the android equivalent of the Omnia rather than wait for a port that will be buggy and take time to refine?
But the Galaxy S has only plastic.
The Omnia has better processing (I hope you understand me).
And I don´t want Android now for my Omnia, I want rather a custom rom.
But at the moment there no alternative
to the standard (restricted) Windows Phone7.
I know there is a option to keep the jailbreak under Mango with unlock.xml ,but after Hardreset, I must flash 7004 back and then I must flash ,7008 , 7329, 7400 and the Final Mango.
This takes over 2 hours.
I wish there is a custom rom like this from the HTC Devices.
The suggestions are apt
buy an android device if you want an android. Assuming we can run native, and we can run haret, it will still take time to port.
Just buy the device of your choice. There's plenty out with many different price points

Can I run a dual boot Windows and Android on my M8 for Windows?

I'm picking up a windows m8 and I'd like to goof around with a dual boot if possible. I recall back in the days of the HD2 and other Windows phones when youput android on you hda both. Is it still like that?
I have the Verizon M8 for Windows with 8.1.1 I think (waiting for it to arrive/ebay).
Secondly, what is the most stable android rom for this phone right now, if any?
Also yes I do know I could have bought the android version. I wanted a Windows phone to mess with and they are getting kind of scarce and it's making them cost more than what you might expect. So for $40 it seemed like an ok phone to mess around with, better processor and etc. than the Nokia Lumia phones out there. I am however noticing the Sony phones. But I like the metal body on the M8, just cracked my glass on my Moto X4, sick of glass backed phones (Sony also is I think).
