Hallo,
with some problems I have updated my original desire with the performance update 2.10.405.2 issued by HTC.
It now appears, that I have lost my rooting. When I reboot there is a Hboot 0.93.0001.
Does anyone have the same problem?
OTA updates remove root, just use unrEVOked 3.21 to get root again
I have rooted again with unrevoked 3.21 and everything is working fine.
Many many thanks.
Kind Regards

Hi All,
I just wanted to share this info from personal experience. I am using HTC Desire (AMOLED/ASIA Region). I updated OTA Froyo then decided i wanted to root my phone. Rooting requires 0.80 HBOOT so i need to downgrade mine from 0.93 since it got updated also during OTA update. I used teppic's tool (thanks very much for the help as well!) to downgrade my HBOOT from 0.93 to 0.83. Afterwards, i installed signed_RUU for Asia region and now my phone is back to HBOOT 0.80.
This is very helpful especially to those who wanted to bring their phones back to HTC for any repair/warranty concerns.
Hope this can help all my fellow noobs out there as it did to me! Now i think i can try rooting my phone!
thnx for your topic! found via Google and i really helped me!
i need my desire back to stock so i can send him in for reparation. Tried different RUU's but they all failed because the newest bootloader (0.93) this tool worked for me!
It worked for me. Salamat po kababayan
Well it works for me till i downgraded my hboot to 0.83 can u elaborate as to which ruu u installed from the asia region as i tried and it didnt downgrade my hboot
(i need 0.80 as unrevoked doesnt work for me some communication error )
Yes, it's worked perfectly.
Thanks so much (also to teppic74).
Since i have reboot issue when Usb-tethering or Navigating most certainly due to an Hardware issue I'm intending to send in my Desire.
Currently Im running Hboot 0.93.0001 Alpharev 1.5 S-OFF.
I debranded my Desire long ago via Modaco Method. (orginally TMO Germany branded)
Whats the easiest way for me to unroot again to send it in for warranty?
Which RUU do I need?
Thank you so much in advance!
Kai
I just bought desire 1 weeks ago, My desire hboot is 0.93.0001, scld
I rooted my phone by unrevoked with recovery-RA-desire-v1.7.0.1-R5.1-0.93, and have flash a new rom.
But still s-on, i saw many treads about how to get s-off for 0.93 from chiese htcplayer forum, general methods are to downgrade 0.93 to 0.8x,
here i want to know if there is a simple method just like root with unrevoked, to get s off.
ps. i wanna clear that if root completely must include s -off

I have this strange problem.
I did the s-off using the alpharev. Once that was done, I experienced random reboots and phone lockups.
So, I decided to revert back and used the 2.29.405.2 ruu to get back to stock htc image.
Now, I am unable to root my desire using un-revoked. The phone freezes after doing the hboot and pre-boot sequence. I tried downgrading my hboot and I continue to experience the same problem.
Is there a way to get the phone to factory conditions ? I use a MAC. Can I use the RUU exe instead of the PB99IMG.zip ?
Has anyone faced a similar problem before ?
Any leads/pointers would be appreciated.
And yes, I am not a newbie and can find me way out through the adb forests !
Thanks
Shyam
bootloader should not change things about rooting.
have u checked hboot what does it tell now?
Thread moved to Q&A.
0.93.0001 S-ON is the hboot version that I get.
RUUs are Windows applications. You could just get the 2.29.405.5 PB99IMG and flash that to go back to the latest stock ROM
I am unable to root the stock 2.29.405.2 using unrevoked too !! The phone freezes after doing the pre-boot sequence.
Shyam
Are you using the current version of unrevoked or just some old version you found on your harddisk? Older versions could not root froyo based roms.
€: Perhaps they also patched something in 2.29.405.2 that prevents this rooting method.
I've had no issues with 2.29.405.2 using unrEVOked 3.22 - not tried since going back to 2.29.405.5
Hi, I'm in the UK so haven't got the 2.3 update just yet... but was wondering does root remain with Visionary Perm root or S-OFF after the 2.3 update?
I have seen there is 'Gingerbreak' that apparently roots Gingerbread and was wondering if anyone has successfully used this on there 2.3 Desire HD?

GingerBreak works if you have Radio S-OFF, but if you don't, you have to downgrade to get root again.
