Is there any way to change the color coding on the Evo's LED charging indicator? I'm mildly red/green colourblind, and can't tell a difference at all between the red and green, would love to be able to set it to red/blue, or even yellow/blue.
Thanks!

Since there is not a blue led on the evo only way is to physically change it.
When I USED THE SEARCH I found this for you...

Weird, I ran a search and didn't find that. :S
So we can't change LED colour without changing hardware? I ask because the blackberry I had before the Evo had an app in their app store that let you change the LED color at will.

Unfortunatly no. our leds are color specific they are not multi-colored led's that would allow us to blend the colors to create a custom color...
Searching on this forum can be a little tricky I always search from this page so it will query all the evo sub forums..

That mod is awesome I just wish it easier to access the leds so we didn't have to take the whole phone apart and void the warrantee.
Yeah, can't say I'm excited about soldering anything in this phone.
Thanks for your help!

I was curious what colors can the evo's notification light display? I try to set a custom color for handcent but it always just flashes green. has anyone been able to make it flash a different color?
You won't be able to change the colors on the Sprint EVO. It will always flash Green.
I think some GSM European Android phones have this custom capability.
after some research, i read that there was an app for the hero that let you change the color/.. i wonder if it'll work the evo
The Evo has an orange LED and a green LED. No color changing.

And no need.
There are tons of apps (yes even for the EVO) that'll let you change the LED color.
Handcent SMS lets you make the light ANY color you want for texts and pics messaging.
There is another app I used to have on Incredible and Droid that allowed you to change it to anything for missed calls and voicemails. It's also available for EVO. I've used it before. And for the life of me, I can not remember what it's right right now. Forgive me. But it's definitely possible.

I'd like to see an EVO that hasn't had a soldering iron used on it, change its LED to any color other than green, amber, or red. An app won't change the physical parameters of an LED.

did you hear about that app that goes to radio shack and buys all the rainbow leds and installs them in the phone for you? Its a good app, but sucks the battery down. The whole process requires 8 FULL RECHARGES.

Don't forget, you also have to hold the EVO above your head and spin counterclockwise 25 times while hopping on your left foot. (left-footed amputees... I guess you're out of luck.)
I watched a youtube video on a review of the g2. He was claiming there was a light around the trackpad that lights up say when you get a call, or a notifing you have a miss text etc etc. I couldn't find an option for this or havn't seen it light up either. Anyone?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Yes. There is a light around the track pad. It flashed for me when I received a text.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Yeah I take that back. Just text myself and saw it, but is there any options/settings we can do? For example to flash rapid, slow, etc etc.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
From what I've found, there are no settings for that. I would also like to be able to configure it. And they should have made it more than just white
Sent from my T-Mobile G2
Yeah would of been nice to have different colors for different notifications. I feel like it flashes to slow for me also. Maybe there will be an app for it. Use to have the BB9700 long time ago. That had an app you can fully customize the Led. Colors, speed, notifications etc.

Yes, there is a light.

You may be right. I just wish they'd have included this in the phone settings.
I hope its capable of RGB, but I have a feeling that its just a white led. Idk.

LED is there, however only in white. Check out LED Tester free in the market. Works, but no matter what color you pick it's always white.

You can't change the trackpad as it's only a white LED. The notification LED is a tricolor (green, amber and red) however I'm not sure as to how to change what color shows when; granted I don't see why you'd want to as it makes sense how its set up now (green=charged/notification, amber=low, red=almost dead)

a app i use to change how fast and how often the led or trackpad led light flashes is Ledmeknow. its free on the market and works great. so far there is no way to change the color of the led

LEDMeKnow has issues with CM7 and Themes .
Its odd noone has found a way to change it. Like said, the top one is only one LED and it is amber/green which should be able to be modified.

LedFlow only allows me pattern changes and from what I see only Green and Amber. Have you tried it and have you gotten Blue and Red and Yellow and other colors?
Noone have any information at all?
An LED's colour is a function of the hardware, and thus you cannot change it in software. It would be like giving you a can of red paint, and asking you to paint the room blue.
If only 1 color is included in the phone you won't be able to change the color..post above me was good lol

When rooted, some phones have LEDs that can be changed to any color.
the point remains the same. those "some phones" are not the Desire Z nor is it a G2.
The fact remains the same: trackpad only shines white and the notification light only shines green or orange (maybe red, i'm not sure).
Refer to the post you quoted for a layman's term on why the DZ/G2 can not change to any color you want.

Sure, and those phones would already have LEDs capable of doing that. But if your phone has, say, a green LED in it, you cannot somehow use software to convince it to emit any light other than green. You might as well ask if software can turn a 480x320 display into a 1280x720 one. The answer, again, is "no".

I wasnt sure if it had a LED capable of that as it the LED in it transmits orange and green.
And the display is one of the worst examples ever: You can thru software make your display display whatever resolution you want.
Looks like an interesting App for controlling your LED notifications. Try it out and report your findings!

I'm using Handcent & I got a magenta light for when my girl texts me. I did choose the color "green" tho.
I am getting three color choices with Light Flow paid version. Blue, red and purple.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
what are you talking about, Purple does not work with paid version, it's red and blue!!!
Purple is a choice in the paid version for me. Of course, the actual color is more like magenta but it does work. I have Direct Mode checked in the General Settings menu.
Good to hear some feedback on this...similar results here. Wishin we had more color options!
I've only found three that work:
setting > looks like
Blue > Blue
Green > Purple
Red > Red
Purple is of course just red+blue lit simultaneously.
This is in Pro version, NOT Direct Mode.
White = fast blinking red color.
Also I noticed that the led stays lit for a long duration of time when you choose red or blue. Then it blinks off really quickly and back to on...kind of like the reverse of how it is normally. Any way to fix that?
Thanks for pointing out that white will rapid flash. That is just what I needed!
this did not work for me at all? does it only work on rooted phones?
Dont know if anyone uses kicker but my led stays magenta when I get a message

Hi
Just for info. There shouldn't be any difference between the free version and the paid version of LightFlow for color controls as they both use the same code. The only differences are the length of time it takes to cycle around the notifications and the number of apps supported.
As for the colors, the app just sends an ARGB value to the phone (when running in standard mode) and then it's up to the phone to work out how to interpret it. It's good to know white allows for rapid flashing (odd interpretation there samsung, but at least it's more choice). This is the quote from the android development documentation regarding color representation "Not every color in the spectrum is supported by the device LEDs, and not every device supports the same colors, so the hardware estimates to the best of its ability."
If anyone wants to have a play with the app "LED color tester" by coolbeans in the market to see if they can get any more colors (e.g. rapid blue flashing etc) then let me know and I'll try get the extra option put into lightflow. Note, to test using LED color tester, you'll need to uninstall lightflow first as lightflow will take over the notifications, preventing control by the tester app.
Direct mode writes to the files directly in unix that control the leds. At the moment it'll write out a 0 or a 1 to the brightness file for either the red or blue led. My guess is that some other values allow for the flashing. If only there was some consistency between phones, things would be so much easier! I'm also planning to add the option to allow custom brightness values to be sent for the leds which may help control things a little more.

What colour home button have you used the most? Blue by chance?
White.
However I understand blue pixels die/burn easily.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
It's not technically burn in. Think of it as reverse led fatigue The leds that make up the navbar are burning brighter due to less time on them and where you can see the button images is where the leds have been used. On the first gen galaxy's some would make entire screen white and put it at full brightness and let it sit on overnight.
good day.
We've posted this many times, yes the screen gets burn in. That's why I hide the top and bottom bar each day to use those pixels frequently. I also reduced the height of the buttons. My burn in is basically gone.
I know the screen burns in. This thread isn't about a new discovery. This thread is about what I should do about it. I disabled the soft keys and am using LMT Launcher now.
I'd like to use the normal keys, but want them to hide. Like how the task bar in windows will hide. Any apps you may know of that do said feature?

SAme problem here... I have some icons ''burned in'', im trying a 10 hours white screen youtube video now, maybe it will work.... You guys have other ideas?
I can recommend using Display Tester by gombosdev Its free and supports ics fullscreen option in settings. Use the dead pixel test to display a single color. I got burnin for red only for the pixels that have not been 'exercised' top and bottom.
I was expecting burnin eventually but not that the 'black' pixels would burn in and certainly not that the red color would be affected and not the blue.
I started seeing this after only a few weeks

Sounds more like a result of dead pixel.
Cause of the nature AMOLED's working, a dead pixel causing an entire line of pixeld distorting and then dead after some time.
P.S. Oh sorry, its not, readed it wrong
Yeah I hide the bars once a day. Also I make my button color green, and signal and click etc green since that is the most robust color, and also green text looks sharper since there are twice as many green pixels as blue and red. So it looks good too.
How bad it is, when I have a lot of blue on screen? How long it can last ? And is damage permanent? Stock JB has quite a lot of blue pixels and I would also like to use some themes like http://droidviews.com/2012/iphone-4s-ios-theme-for-miui-v4-update/

For notifications and the soft key bar, I believe you would have to use a theme. The only rom I know that has nav bar coloring abilities built-in is Codename Android.
