Here is the link to the thread directly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790427

You also could've posted in the VirusROM threads too for help.
Download the necessary files for the ROM. Move them to the root of your SD Card, boot into recovery and do a nandroid backup in case. Afterwards, you need to wipe your phone data, cache, and dalvik cache (some say wipe them twice just to be sure) in recovery. Then go to install file from sdcard and flash the ROM and reboot. After the reboot, go back into recovery and flash any other files you have downloaded (like a new kernel, radio/wimax updates, whatever).

Thank You for your clear explanation.

I would also suggest doing a full root and nand unlock from using toastcfh's method 1 and 2 so you don't run into any problems down the road. Cause lots of ROM'S these days require nand be unlocked. But they won't mention it sometimes. And if you flash that rom and delete your other your won't get past the boot screen. And be stuck with nothing. Just letting you know before you get stuck!

If you rooted with Unrevoked 3, your nand is unlocked. Power your phone off, then power it back on while holding the vol down key. At the top of the bootloader screen you will see where it says s-off to verify.

[Q] EVO Bootloader do not load pc36img

Hello,
I apologize for my bad English at first.
I updated my 8gb sdcard to a new one ScanDisk Class 4 16GB. Everything is working OK except bootloader is not loading PC36img.zip any more. I found in other forum this problem is about SDHC card but I did not find any solution. I have full root, soff, etc, I have hboot 0.76eng. Any advice?
Update1: I flashed EVO_HBoot_0.76.2000.zip from amonra 2.3 without any problem but still same issue (everything working perfect but bootloader would not load PC36IMG.zip).
Update2:
I updated radio, etc using latest Calkulin's combo EVO_Radio_2.15.00.04.08_WiMAX_27925_PRI_NV_1.90_00 3.zip, then flashed latest hboot EVO_HBoot_2.10.0001.zip. Same result: All working OK but cannot load PC36IMG.zip.
Thanks in advance.
If you have the eng bootloader, you can use fastboot (from google SDK) to flash any .img you want. Like a recovery.
Example to flash a recovery via fastboot:
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery-name.img
Enjoy.

I have rom Fresh 4.0.0.4 with Rom Manager Premium 4.2.0.2 working perfect so I can go Rom Manager and switch CM - Amonra. I made nandroid of Fresh rom with CM and Amonra. I just want to have bootloader working ok because I do not know if I will need it in an emergency.
Thanks
did you make sure the PC36IMG.zip only had one .zip at the end and not 2, also was it all capitalized

Yes, I just rechecked filename right now, but I am sure I did not renamed it since I used it last time.
At other forum says that issue is related to having a big SDHC card (I updated from 8gb to 16gb) but I did not find any solution.
Thanks
Have the same issue on my evo. Have tried different SD cards and still does not boot PC36IMG.zip. Can flash anything I want in recovery. But unable to flash in hboot or even push.

aaanadie, what particular PC36IMG.zip are you trying to load from the bootloader, if you don't mind me asking? Since you're already using RA v2.3, download the PC36IMG.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026 and see if you can reflash amon RA from the bootloader. I just want to rule out a corruption.

Hopefully, flashing a stock ruu and then unrooting will work for you, but before you try it, can you also download the PC36IMG.zip file for amon RA v2.3 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705026 and see if you can flash it from the bootloader?

I was able to flash amon-ra from inside CM7 using Terminal Emulator, so my problem is solved, but I am curious to know why I cannot switch from Clockwork to RA using Rom Manager on CM7, even from a fresh CM7. I tried everything, last time I wipe data, cahe, dalvik, all, flashed new CM7, installed Rom Manager from Market (not using Titanium) so should not be my CM7 nor my Rom Manager.

I'm not a fan of ROM Manager because on many occasions, it doesn't flash correctly and when it doesn't, amon RA is the tool that gets the device back up and working correctly. Besides, it is far too easy and arguably safer to go into recovery to flash, make backups and restore backups. As to why ClockworkMod "seem" to cause problems with CM7, I don't know.

Thanks. Just had a fail on the first attempt to unroot since I can not push to my phone. The flash starts and my phone goes to the black HTC screen then it just waits for the bootloader. I must be really dedicated to install that custom splash screen. Oh well off to Google again to find more ways to unroot.

By flashing an exe. from my pc from here http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Supersonic/ . Which failed. Also tried the original patch and PC36IMG.zip that I saved when I first rooted my phone from unrevoked. Beginning to wonder if I do unroot. Will I be able to root again? That would not be worth it just to have a splash screen. I would rather stay unrooted than be stuck stock. But Thank You for your help.
Try the unrevoked S-ON tool for the EVO. It is flashed from within recovery. You can download it as well as read the instructions at unrevoked dot com.

Well the good news I am s-on. The bad is that it still will not let me flash. I am done for tonight. Being s-on and being on cm7 is not a bad thing. Round 1 is a fail. But thanks for your help. Once this is figured I will know what to do next time. At least I am not stock.

I use Amon Ra (you can search for it here), rename it to PC36IMG.zip and transfer to SD card.
Boot into bootloader (power off, then volume down + power key).
It will then find the file, ask you if you want to run/install, and BOOM.
I did that but I think I'm being an idiot I can't get root

Don't you have to flash another file after getting s-off to obtain root? That is what I did because it said to in the instructions/documentation.

Yes, move it from pc or download it.
Go into recovery and install zip from there
S-Off doesn't equal root. It takes the security off so you CAN root.
Flash the recovery, as posted, and then flash a ROM. The ROM have the root exploit in them and should all come with Superuser, which is what allows your programs to use the root exploit.

If you are having an issue just go through the root method again and this time say YES when they ask you about Clockwork. This is if you are having issues flashing a recovery. It wont hurt your phone.
Suggestion - If you are entering the world of rooting and flashing roms, one of the most important things or probably the most important is to read and read again then when you think you got it read one more time. Alot of info in xda. follow OP's instructions to the letter and you will be ok...
Good luck

I have done it over and over .. watched the video posted in another thread. I have tried different su files posted and same thing. I can install custom roms and it works great. I have superuser icon in apps.. no apps listed.
rom manager says not rooted.
terminal says not rooted
Yeah, the process is get S-Off, which removes the security
Flash Recovery, so you can flash ROMS, Kernels, etc.
Flash A ROM, which will have root, system files, etc so that you have a setup to work with.
Think of it like setting up a new computer. Once you get the components, you have to format your hard drive so it'll hold the operating system.
I'm using Twrp and not going back

If you're s-off still, simply re-flash amon_ra recovery via PC36iMG.

Edito you know the thread where I could get it from?
As the previous poster said... if you still have S-OFF but need to get the custom recovery back you should be able to do that. Go to this thread and download the recovery image in the PC36IMG.zip format. You should then follow the instructions if the first post of that thread labeled "- the Bootloader way -":
- Place PC36IMG.zip on the root of your sd card.
- Boot the phone into the bootloader by powering the phone down, then press the power and the volume down buttons at the same time.
- Once the phone boots into the bootloader the phone will automatically recognize the zip file. It will ask if you would like to update, select yes and let it do it's thing and you will be good to go.

[Q] Trying 2 understand few thing things after/about rooting!

So i have rooted the htc DZ and tried out multiple roms... Till now i used to use the CWR to wipe the data/cache before loading a new rom.. Yesterday i decided to try SuperWipeG2+ without reading much(not trying to understand what it exactly does).
After i flashed it, i by mistake hit the reboot now in CWR and it hung at the boot screen. To fix this i removed the battery and put it back in,since power on was not working. When i did so it went to HBoot and started flashing the 1.34 PC10IMG file present in the sdcard which i did not remove after rooting.
Query:-
1) Should i have removed 1.34 PC10IMG?
2)If i ever face a similar situation like mentioned above will it enter the recovery,if the1.34 PC10IMG file was not present ?(i did try to do away with updating the 1.34 PC10IMG,but always entered the HBoot on every subsequent restart and never allowed me to change the options from flashboot to anything else).
2a)If it does not enter recovery, then what is it to be done?
3)Currently i have stock 1.34 rom which says i do not have root(check this by installing rom manger )! but when i check Boot page, it says S-off and other Hboot etc.
I did run from step 1. to root DZ and it was back to good old rooted condition.
(Did a lot searching and reading but i couldn't answer the above questions- hence the thread also just not comfortable experimenting too much, might end bricking the phone )
Non-rooting query:-
4)Also what is use of app2sd/partition of sd-card!
i mean, as per my understanding this(app2sd) can"only"be used when there is partition in you sd-card which allows apps to be moved to sd-card,but when using MIUI rom i still can move most of the user apps to sd-card..
If these questions has been already asked and replied or even already explained please forgive me for creating this thread and please provide the link.. Would appreciate a lot..
Thanks..
Anyone ... Sorry abt the long post...

Since Froyo, you dont need this app. You can move it to your sd card under the Application setting. But, not all apps can be moved (such as task manager, pre installed app). You dont need to create partition, just install it and run it.
Anyway, since our DZ has internal memory 1,5 GB, I never moved apps to sd card
Cheers
Thanks ... 1 cleared.. 3 to go...

For the other q's
Yes you should remove the PC10IMG from your sdcard.otherwise you can't get into recovery through bootloader.
(although you could boot to fastboot, and if you have the eng bootloader boot a recovery through terminal/cmd)
Did you run the "./root_psn" step of the rooting guide? If not that might be the error with not perm-root

You need to learn to read the stickies and do some searching on your own before posting. The stickies in this section explain to you, in extreme detail, how to root, unroot, and flash ROMs to your Evo. They even give you links to find pretty much any file you could ever need for your Evo. Do some searching before blindly asking a question. It helps keep the same unnecessary threads from cluttering up the forum.
Thanks, it worked!!!! now if I do another phone, I only need to download the Revolutionary file again to get the Beta code...right??
Oh by the way, I did look, however, I wanted to make sure because I didn't want to take any chances bricking my phone...I have always used the One click or Zroot on my other phones....Is it ok to ask to make sure??
Yes you need to use a.... New download zip for each root because each time u generate a code its for that specific zip download.

Is there a pc36img method that can do what revolutionary can do or can i use a terminal emulator for turning soff because my usb is broken loose. Thank you
Install most current Gingerbread v2.3.3 (4.54.651.1) (Keep STOCK or ROOT Optional)
ZRoot will work on older Froyo, but not Gingerbread OS!
OLDER STOCK: Froyo v2.2 (3.70.651.1).EXE http://keetsa.com/files/RUU_SuperSo...15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe
Most Current version STOCK is "Gingerbread v2.3.3 (4.54.651.1).EXE" http://www.multiupload.com/LLV12N2WU8
with "xxx.EXE file", You'll need to Run it on Widows and install on Phone thru Micro USB plug.
BEST Method to install Most Current STOCK ROM:
1. Download + Rename to "PC36IMG.zip" on SDCARD + (Boot into Recovery +Install) "AmonRa Recovery v3.11-gnm" http://dl.dropbox.com/u/34586908/PC36IMG-ra-supersonic-3.11-gnm.zip
2. (Boot into Recovery), WIPE these 8 lines (All data/factory Reset, /data, /cache, /sdcard/.android_secure, /system, Dalvik-cache, battery stats, rotate settings)
3. Download + Rename to "PC36IMG.zip" on SDCARD + (Boot into Recovery +Install) "GB v4.54.651.1.ZIP" http://db.tt/Ck6AB18E
If you want non Stock Recovery + Rooted:
1. Rename your "(AmonRa Recovery v3.11-gnm) PC36IMG.zip" to "PC36IMG.zip" again. (Boot into Recovery +Install). (cus Stock Rom changed you to STOCK Recovery)
2. (Boot into Recovery + Install) "Root (Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed).zip" www.mediafire.com/?16a07x3800wvak6
Im on newest gingerbread firmware sprint and s-on, can i still downgrade to foyo?
NO
