New Evo rugged extended Seidio possible in the works? - EVO 4G Accessories

Thought give you guys a heads up on this I took the rugged case and cut the rear out for the kickstand and left off the hard plastic skeleton peice due to the fact the middle clamps didn't wrap around fully due the bulge of 3500 extended battery. And the fact it would work on the bumper protection but started tearing the corner on the bumper cover. Also would loose the ability of the kickstand as well, so I cut the bumper out for kickstand and combined with 1/2 faceplate for protection around the front screen under the bumper work alright for now. Now I hit the web googling for extended cover case and came across a board called getsastification.com apparently that seidio is a part of, there they state some customers are unhappy with the crap protection from not having full protection on the phone. Staff reports rugged extended case in the works, suggest contact them comments on additional support please visit and let them know how much the additonal protection matters. I suggested even different colors instead just basic black would be a nice addition. Thanks for viewing of the post!!!

Ummm...
where r the pics?
sent from my EVO

Pictures of the new case or my pictures of my modified case. If about the new seidio case extended their are none yet as to why I stated that it there working on the new case. If this helps since I can't post links yet, google the terms evo extended battery case and getsatsfication.com and the post will pop straight up. Now concerning pictures of my mod case for the phone I can put up some pictures if you all like me to might need some how to attach to this post since not very good and attachments yet?

Fyi, I was just on the seidio website and they have an extended rugged case, with no pictures yet, listed in the online store as coming soon.

Dang and I have been blowing money on trying to find a good case with the Chinese batteries... Time to get a Seidio.

I am glad the extend rugged in on their own website now to lend credit to my post. For sure their staff reads these boards to see what kind of feedback on their products gets. To see what their description of the rugged skeleton case is what I thought, just like their regular extended case minus the active case as I thought. Was really hoping they bring forth a new case design like the active cases with pass through for the battery and the silicon bumper would go over that. Then with the kickstand could be access through hole in the back with open slot and pull on tab like they have for the camera. But as stated on their website **Kickstand is not accessible when cover and exoskeleton applied**. They could have put a slot just like they did for the camera, come on Seidio that is one of many reasons that people have purchased the Evo to use as a micro media center. Then additional they what to still use that original extended cover at the fact when one uses their Evo with the kickstand there is still no protection around bottom and top of the Evo for additonal protection. They could listen to most customers wanting a full case bumper for all around protection. Not meaning to rant, I really like what Seidio products can do and helps for some protection. Feel enough support from one concentration post could help produce a better product for everyone that needs it.

I wonder if I can convince Seidio to sell me the back cover only saying mine broke and I didn't have a receipt. I have the Yoobao and eBay batteries. I really do want a legit case for it.

[REVIEW] Seidio Innocase Extended Rugged Combo

Here's my review of Seidio's new case protecting EVOs with the extended battery. PLEASE let me know what you think, and feel free to be as brutally honest as possible.
http://wrlsfanatic.wordpress.com/20...edextended-rugged-skin-skeletonholster-combo/
EDIT: Whoops, forgot to mention typing with the rugged case on... kind of a huge deal. Updated.
EDIT 2: Added the rest of my pictures. The quarter pictures show just how much bigger this is than the regular extended case.
Can you do me a quick favor? Can you put your phone into the holster and attach the holster to your regular sized belt like a dress/casual style belt PLEASE!! I have a fried that had the standard rugged for his evo and his complaint was that the belt clip when attached to a regular belt would flop around and not sit snugly.
Is this with all the pieces on? according to seidio's site you have to purchase the innocase extended piece as well to use the case. I purchased the innocase active "limited edition" a couple months back, & to me it made my phone feel alot bulkier, kinda' like a brick, not to mention the silicone was a lint trap. I'm still debating over seidio's offering, or the sprint extended battery that comes with two battery covers, seidio seems alot more expensive since i would have to buy the battery, & still buy all the other pieces to make it work, what do you guys think?

The clip definitely has some room to move, but on me it's fine. I'm not a huge guy, but I certainly have some love handles, and they - I'm sad to say - would keep the phone in place just fine for me. I could definitely see someone that is thinner having trouble keeping the phone in place. Honestly, that's not my biggest gripe with that clip. It is going to CONSTANTLY turn the display on and off.
@Dog, first off, the Sprint extended battery is nice for not increasing the phone's size much, but there are ZERO cases for that phone. The only way to put a case on a phone with that extended battery on it would be to mod one... not my forte. I wanted the extended battery, so I didn't hesitate to buy the Seidio one BECAUSE I knew they had one case for it (the Innocase Extended) and were working on another (the Innocase Extended Rugged). If you don't care to have a case on your phone, then the Sprint one might be fine for you.
The modification isnt complex and the bonus is that with the sedio rugged you cant tell that the 2600 battery is even in there except for the little extra weight which make me feel more secure in holding my phone. But if you got burger king hands this may not be for you.....lol

Could you post some pics of the case in the holster and clipped onto a belt? Or at least just take a couple pics from the side so I can see how big of a gap the clip has

Seidio Rugged vs. Otterbox Defender vs. Trident Kraken

Which one is the best? Please let me know I don't know which one to buy for my Droid X. Also if you know of any heavy protection cases for it just comment below...
can someone plz answer this haha i really wanna know i think its between the seidio rugged and the otterbox defender in my opinion but plz help me out which do you guys think would be the best heavy protection case?
I have both the seidio, and the otterbox. The Otterbox wins at everything but Seidio has the better holster.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
I ordered the Trident to replace my Rugged. The Trident is better in my opinion. The rubber on the rugged wore out within a month. The trident also seemed to be thinner and molded to fit my hand better. I almost got the Otterbox, but I am glad I ordered the Trident instead.
As far as protection goes, I don't think you could go wrong with any of the three as all are built like tanks.
I have the Seido one and I have loved it. I love it has a piece of rubber to cover over the camera so that nothing can scratch it. I have been debating about getting the Otterbox but dont really now if I want to or not
I work heavy construction (demo of fire damaged houses) and I roll up my sleeves and get in there with my guys on a daily basis. Needles to say; the case gets a BEATING. The case is on my tool belt at all times, the phone does get answered whenever it rings; my gloves usually have foreign matter that should not be allowed within 10 feet of anything electronic. 90% of my guys have Androids and we use Tikl alot as well. We had a number of "rugged" cases come and go, but Otterbox is the winner.
I have had my hands on all three and nothing beats the $14.99 Dual Layer Vertex Case I found @ Techie Warehouse. I would definitely recommend googling this. Have you ever taken a good look at the Seidio Innocases... they are molded with cheap plastic and when you drop your Droid X with the Innocase the two piece snap on just comes apart half the time so you end up with a minor scuff.
I haven't used Seidio or Trident, but I own the Otterbox Defender. A regular $50, you can find it for $35 shipped on eBay. I'm definitely happy and don't have anything bad to say about it.
It has rubber flaps to cover all plug openings and they fit snug, all buttons are covered and pressable through the rubber, and the screen sets in about 1/8" so if it sits on its face it is not sitting directly on the screen. There is also a built-in screen protector. The camera also sets in so there is no resting the phone on the camera. I particularly like the holster because you can place the phone in any of 4 directions and it snaps in perfectly: screen out - either direction, screen in - either direction. The case is easily removable if you need to get to the inside quickly, such as the battery or sd card.
It was basically the best $35 I've spent on an accessory for my X (with the 5000mAh portable charger being a close second XD ) and I definitely don't feel like I have to handle it with extra care anymore.
The Kracken has all ports covered, along with all speaker holes.
The Kraken is pretty much like the old otterboxes with covered the camera with a clear skin, along with pieces of fabric covering all speaker-,mic holes. The Otterbox for the DX does NOT have those, which makes it not completely dustproof.
And as for the guy complaining about the plastic Innocase coming apart on the Seido when you drop it..... It was designed that way. It spreads the impact of your clumsy drop away from the much more expensive phone, and towards the cheap replaceable case. Think of it like a crumple zone in a car. Its meant to protect the insides of the phone, not keep it pretty.
Any seen a dock that fits these cases? I know there have been some handbuilt. Seidio has usually made a dock that fits their cases. But I have yet to see this.

Truthfully verizons body glove case is best for non bulkyness.Very stable fits well .ect.
I like my body glove
Personally I have tried the Body Glove case and I like the Otter Box Commuter case a little better. The new Seidio Innocase Active is also a very nice case; a close second to the Otter Box.
Definitely otter box. Slim sturdy and stylish

one problem though it has to slide into my jeans. Most of these cases have rubber and dont slide
Throwing in a vote for the Body Glove case.. great fit with just enough bulk to give you that warm protected feeling

You should check out Techie Warehouse. If you go to the Covers & Skins area for the Droid X you'll find over 300 covers to choose from.
Best one I got laying around was not a Seidio, Otterbox or Trident... it was the Dual Layer Vertex Covers just google "techie warehouse vertex cover for droid x"
I quote from our product description about this product "The Motorola Droid X gets ultimate protection. A Screen Protector and two virtual walls of defense. The inner silicone core absorbs shock from bumps and drops. A hard polycarbonate exterior shell prevents cuts, scrapes, dings, and damage for the Motorola Droid X."
Let me know what you think of it.
i bought one of the 3 dollar black silicone ones off amazon. works fine for me..

I have had the Otterbox, Seidio, Innocase, Verizon, Kragen, but I didnt really like any of them. Iphone cases are so much more refined compared to these.
The Otterbox Seidio, and Kragen cases are too bulky, the Innocase looks good but broke on me, and the Verizon Kickstand Case was too cheaply made.
There is a guy from another forum thats making a phone case. It looks great but its not for sale yet, I am personally looking forward to it because he claims its easy to open and has a bunch of other features. It looks absolutely beautiful, so lets hope he can pull this off.
Right now Im using a cheap Ebay Silicone case, its not great either but it was only $2 and thats value for money. I also got a Smartphone Coaster, its a cheap bit of tin but it does the job for now.

Phantomskinz does have skins for the droid X.. Check the site again!
+1 For the Body Glove
I really enjoy my Body Glove, Although I've managed to wear out the snap on the lower left side by removing the case over time to do a battery pull and it no longer holds securely.
I have a Green Trident Kraken on order, due to arrive today actually assuming UPS will brave the icy roads, Good reviews on protection but they all admit to the sacrifice of sleekness.
The pliable verizon silicone case is nice and it fits with extended battery-Motorola and cover. You can find them for $10 online or eBay.
Check ebay item #250759993717
I bought a Sedieo Innocase Surface back in December it cracked in half in January. They are really nice looking, but if you ever have to do a battery pull or if you want to use your car dock, forget about getting it out of the damn case. It fits way to tight. So I am back to the ole Silicone case, which works fine, but sucks if you put it in your pocket, cause it sticks to cloth / jean material.
I'm on my 2nd Body Glove case.
Likes: Belt clip, rubber texture, light weight
Dislikes: Rubber texture deteriorates, weak tabs will not survive impact.
It has kept my DX from scratches but the tabs that snap it together break too easily. First was replaced under warranty. I think I will kick out the $ for an Otter.

Those cases with tabs that snap together aren't meant to be taken apart, after 4 or 5 times they will break. I created a case that opens easily, has no tiny tabs to break and has a multitude of other features.
I've also taken great care to make sure that the case is placed further away from the screen and buttons making it easy to touch the screen and press the buttons on the bottom.
There's space for the OEM extended battery, an extra micro SD card, and even an ID or credit card.
The case also functions as a stand and car mount, my case allows you to watch movies, make movies, capture photos, and use your phones GPS in your car with ease. These features not only work with the Motorola Droid X but with other cases, other phones, and even some other electronic devices such as digital cameras.
The case isn't any more expensive then other high quality cases either. Its 20 bucks and made from the same high strength plastic as other high end cases, so basically if your in the market for a case and other accessories you can pay for just the case and get the rest for free essentially.
If you think this case must be huge and weigh a lot you'd be surprised, its really a simple concept, its almost like a normal cellphone case but we've changed a the design a bit to allow it to function as an adjustable stand.
I can't post links yet so you'll have to google "Jawcase" to find more info, pics, and videos.
I like the Jawcase concept. Alot. I pledged. And good luck with getting your project off the ground Heather. Hope it gets funded.
I've gone through 3 body gloves now with my 4th's clips are broken yet again....
I think its a bit ridiculous that I cant take my phone case off because the clips can't stand it.
I need to find a new case, and I'm thinking of just going with one of the hard-ish silicone cases. The body glove looks great when you buy it, but the rubber wears away like no tomorrow and the clips are destroyed after a couple battery pulls. I had one for my enV touch and it lasted the entire lifespan of the phone with minor tears and such. My droid x's can't last anymore than maybe a month. Don't get me wrong, the body gloves are wonderful, but I'm clearly not having a good experience with it or maybe I'm not handling it properly
+1 for the body glove case. I havent had any issues with the tabs, but i always open it at the bottom with a coin.

Shoot...I was pretty much sold on the Innocase Surface case, was gonna order one in the next few days. I've tried the cheap TPU case, the cheap 2-piece snap together case, maybe I'll try the Verizon silicon one instead of the Innocase.

[Q] Does Defender, Trident, Otterbox, etc make cases for extended batteries?

I want to get an extended battery (nothing huge, no 3500 for me, but something in the lower 2000s will be fine) but I don't want to sacrifice being able to use a badass case like Trident cyclops or defender (can't decide which I want).
However, I don't think there's a 2000+ sized battery that'll fit in the stock case, so do any of those companies make cases for phones that have extended batteries?
If not, can anyone tell me the largest battery you can fit inside of a stock back door?
1800 is the biggest that will fit under the stock door....I just got a 3500 and will NEVER go back..awesome!
you can fit the sprint 2600 in the ballistic case with some modifications... there is a thread about it somewhere on here where someone was asking and I posted pictures showing what needed to be done
bump......
no one makes a rugged extended case except sedio man... thats it, your only option other than modding the ballistic case.
^ +1
i did this and its awesome!
I have the Seidio Extended battery and simply took one of my TPU cases and modded the back to be cut open around the extended part. The remaining cover still houses the sides and corners as usual and the extended case protects the camera/flash area. I have dropped it a few times and it has held up just as well.
At $4-5 a case, simple enough to do. I didn't want the added bulk of the Seidio Rugged, and the slim one piece case just simply fails to protect the phone when being dropped.
Some very small [email protected] pics from my webcam.
***Just read elsewhere that a credit card makes the perfect shape to cutout for a perfect tight fit to the Seidio Extended's bumpout.
Ceger

[Q] What case/cover to get with Seidio 3500mAh battery?

So I'm going to get the 3500mAh battery from Seidio. But i absolutely HATE their battery cover.
It looks like they just used as little creativity in making it and it was a last minute design that someone threw together.
So i'm curious as to what other cases/covers there are to make up for such a flawed design on Seidio's part.
I prefer to stay away from the rugged design stuff since the phone is already big enough in my pocket.
Id like to know as well. I don't mind the back cover I just need something to protect my phone now that sprint isn't covering cracked screens anymore
Sent from my Evo while i should be working
I've seen people make a cutout with those cheap TPU cases, so it kind of turns out to be a "bumper" case.
Short of a DIY project, I don't think you have any other choices other than that rugged case.
If you find on though, let me know!
Personally I've only ever seen the official cover made by Seidio for use with the 3500mh battery. And yeah, the phone is ginorous with that sucker on there. Don't think there's any other alternatives though.
What I did was cut a hole in the back of a polymer case and it feels almost the same size as a stock evo with the seidio surface case

Did the same here. Yeah, it looks ghetto, but it's the best choice without springing for the Seidio case.
